Awesome place! I've gotten 2 (soon to be 3) tattoos here by the amazingly wonderful Dijah! I get kinda nervous when I get tattooed somewhere new but Dijah made me feel so comfortable and is so fun and easy to talk to. She's also super accommodating and efficient, making sure to explain what exactly is going on in the process and asking if I need any breaks, and am comfortable. She's super dedicated and committed to her work, making sure everything is perfect! Dijah is really easy to get a hold of via her Instagram (@dijahtattoos) and told me if I had any questions about healing to message her, this really put my mind at ease as I had never had a full color piece done before. I LOVE GRIM CITY! A few years ago, I got my first tattoo at a different location and it was the most horrifying experience ever. But once I started to come to Grim City.. Well, now I'm a regular customer! The staff are wonderful and incredibly kind. They are very educated in what they are doing, (tattoo's, piercings, etc.) They also take the time to sit down with you and listen to your concerns, and do not make you feel like a nuisance for doing so. When I first became a client at Grim City I was blown away by the incredible experiences I had at the shop. I recommended Grim City to literally everybody who even breathed in my direction. I had my septum and helix pierced by Faith in February of 2017 at their previous location on Main St. and I instantly fell in love with how kind, welcoming, and accepting of an environment it was. I love that Grim City was built from the ground up by people who love the body modification industry and are passionate about creating a safe, friendly, and accepting environment for their clients. Memphis and Travis are literal rock stars and I admire them for creating a new standard for tattoo shops. Their model of diversity, accessibility, and customer service is outstanding and I wholeheartedly hope this becomes common practice for other tattoo shops as well. To me, body modification is a deeply personal and empowering form of self-expression, and that experience doesn't start when you leave the shop with a new tattoo or piercing; it starts when you first walk in to the shop to have art installed on your body. That being said, I feel like Grim City has sacrificed some quality in exchange for growth. Since the expansions to their business, my experiences at Grim City haven't been as wonderful as they used to be. I recently had my nostril pierced by Ashley, who I felt was in a rush to get me out as fast as possible. During my appointment she was switching between myself and another client who had come in over an issue with their piercing. It was a Saturday afternoon, which I'm assuming is a busy time for the shop to begin with. Working at a busy tattoo shop is not a walk in the park, so I tried to be as understanding as possible. Before actually doing my piercing she went on to say something along the lines of "I don't really take my time with piercings", and my first thought was that maybe she should, considering this is a needle going into my face. This week I also contacted an artist directly to arrange a consult where I could take a look at his flash portfolio, custom pieces that he's done, etc. I was told to show up for a specific time so he could squeeze me in. I waited for approximately 30 minutes upstairs to be told that he was running late and they were unable to reach him, but I could leave information about the design I wanted with Ashley and Crystal instead of waiting around for even longer. Not wanting to take up time that may be reserved for other clients, I was super thankful that they were willing to do that. I understand life happens sometimes but I was a little disappointed that I drove an hour to get to Hamilton and left without even meeting with the artist who I was considering; and that was ultimately the deciding factor that prompted me to seek out an artist at another shop. I wasn't extremely unhappy or angry with my experiences, but what made Grim City so amazing for me when I first became a client was the fact that I was always treated like a friend, not just another client - and everyone was always willing to go above and beyond to make sure I had an excellent experience. Maybe I've just had some bad luck lately, but I feel like creating those empowering personal experiences that set Grim City apart in their early days has become a lesser priority since they've expanded. I hope that the alarming rate of their success doesn't inhibit them from keeping those core concepts that made them so incredible.

Amanda did my powdered brows and I couldn't be happier. They are a little darker but thats to be expected for a few weeks, the shape and thickness was perfect. I had microblading once before which lasted 2 yrs. Slightly more painful than tattooing and tattooing will last longer. I highly recommend that anyone who has to pencil on their brows get this done by Amanda, you'll love her professionalism and attention to detail. I came here for a piercing (right nostril); I had already had my left nostril done by another artist quite some time ago. It was a busy day, point taken, and it was extremely evident that the piercer was in a rush to get me in and out of the studio. I wasn't even given to time to contemplate position, etc. I felt extremely rushed. The whole interaction was less than 5 minutes, despite me waiting in the studio for over an hour to be pierced. My piercing was rejected by my nose and terribly infected, and I had to remove it after only 3 months. So frustrating because I LOVED the look, but there were so many issues. Such an unpleasant experience. It sucks that the piercer was also so busy... not sure if that issue is on her or management for overbooking...

I went in a little anxious to judgment about the infection but the piercer who removed it, Ashley Foster was so informative and helpful about the situation, without condescension and I value that very much in a shop environment. I got pierced by Faith back In March and she was fantastic! I originally came in on Sunday for the deals they have going on where you can get basic piercings for cheaper and because they were so busy she pierced me, along with others, on Monday through an appointment. She was so sweet and treated you like a friend instead of just another client but was also super professional! I got my belly button done and she made me feel so comfortable and relaxed and I had an amazing experience! UPDATE: 5 Stars will always be in my heart for Faith as a piercer but unfortunately I’m changing my review to 1 (because 0 isn’t allowed). I used to absolutely love this tattoo shop and recommended it to everybody I knew, but that was before they became “Canada’s Largest Tattoo Shop”. Since then it’s been nothing but upsetting experiences, I recommended this parlour to a few people I know and all I have to say is if you don’t tattoo fingers then maybe you should make that EXTREMELY clear on your website under the appointment section, or at least give your clients their money back; absolutely so unprofessional and I will definitely not be returning. As for Faith, I really hope she finds a better place to work as she is no longer employed there. I’ll follow her wherever she ends up & I hope many of her other clients do as well.

I had a piercing (vertical labret) done here about 2 weeks ago, I don’t remember the guys name but he was incredibly friendly, and the piercing was done quickly. I experienced hardly any swelling or pain, which was unusual since the last time I got my lip pierced it was swollen and painful for over a week. I explained to him that I did swell a lot from past experience and he was accommodating with longer jewelry just in case for this time. I’ve heard mixed reviews about piercings here, but I’m overall very happy and will be coming back soon for more piercings and a tattoo.

My experience was amazing memorable. Two years at the old location, was the first time having my tattoo done. Not knowing what to expect, my tattoo was done poorly even friends of mine had said so. I had decided to return once again to the newer location since other places were booked. My artist was Leo and he was very professional and amazing. Seeing the claim for: “Canada’s largest tattoo shop” alongside good artwork on Instagram and awesome google reviews, my friend & I visited thinking we’d get a stellar experience at Grim City for the budget we had. However, from start -the initial apt booking to the finished tattoo piece, there was an obvious lack of professional standard, passion and artistic integrity. The artist was stoned during the consultation, 2 hours late for the scheduled session, and the outline & finished piece turned out mediocre at best. Even with the decent pricing here, you get less than what you pay for. If you’re an artist who won’t take the time to connect with the client & the art, it’s best to not take on the project at all.

I am SO happy I found GRIM Studios for my piercing issues!!! I got a helix piercing **elsewhere** a few days ago without realizing before it was too late that they used a butterfly back jewelry piece instead of the proper flat end body jewelry... I was so stressed out about it, knowing it could get severely infected or scarred, so I researched my options and found Grim and sent them a DM on Instagram with my questions (whoever I spoke to on Instagram was excellent too, they quickly replied and told me the options and booked me in for a same day appointment). When I arrived, Crystal was the one helping me and she was AMAZING!! I explained my situation, she assessed my piercing and explained how she would be fixing it. She was extremely professional, listened to all of my questions and reassured me that this was the best solution (she stretched it to 16g and replaced the initial jewelry with the appropriate piece). She warned me about the potential pain level in advance. BUT I BARELY FELT ANYTHING; she was so gentle and quick, it was done in under 30 seconds. I have had no swelling or pain at all since two days ago when she fixed it! I highly recommend this studio and Crystal specifically; thank you so much again!????

I gave her free range on design, just gave her the idea of what I wanted. She kept in touch and answered any questions or concerns I had prior to my appointment date. I have 4 piercings and they have all been done at Grim. I will never go anywhere else. When I got my first (left nostril) I was terrified and I brought my best friend. Dijah did the piercing and she was so quick and efficient. She answered all of my questions and she explained all of the after care I could need. I went back one month later and got my tragus pierced by Crystal (pictured) and it was even more relaxing. I found out that I bleed when I get cartilage piercings and she was so calm and made me feel calm while she cleaned me up and put my jewelry in. I then went back and got two piercings from Ashley; my conch in my left ear and my flat, pictured. She also changed my tragus stud to the hoop. Again, both great experiences. The one thing I look for when I am getting any kind of service is consistency. Grim is consistent. The piercers made me, an overly anxious person, feel comfortable and supported and that’s all I can really ask for. My piercings have never given me major problems and have healed properly. If I ever had questions they’ve always answered DM’s on Instagram or Facebook and have told me to come in if I have concerns. I couldn’t imagine having any other piercers put holes in my body.

This review is for a specific artist. Not the overall shop itself. I contacted the shop to set up an appoint, I sent pictures of the tattoo I wanted. They set me up with an artist who didnt seem to have any interest in doing my tattoo. He canceled my first appointment (later found out it was because he was hung over), at my second appointment he still didnt have anything drawn up. Once he did draw something, it was completely different from what I originally wanted, I was open to ideas and liked the sketch but once he added the shading it totally changed the tattoo into something I did NOT want. I've been for multiple piercings and had a fantastic experience, but this one artist changed my view of the shop entirely.

I am a very routine and anxiety filled individual. I moved to Hamilton two years ago and the thought of going to a new tattoo location scared me beyond belief. In fact, the only reason I came to this location is because my fiancé had an appointment with Mat. I was there for support (this was before Covid). Immediately Mat made us feel comfortable. In fact, he made me feel so comfortable I basically begged for an appointment immediately after my fiancé had finished his (he has done five more for me since). Mat agreed and did such an awesome job. My tattoos are simple and probably boring to do (I like simple line work with little to no shading). Mat never complains and always listens to exactly what I want and more importantly follows through. I have had other consultations where the artists will flat out tell me that it's not their style and they wont do the tattoo how I want (understandable, as they have a reputation to uphold and want to show off their amazing talent and skills). Mat has made the whole process such a breeze for me. This place is a 5 minute walk from my house and while walking there I am usually freaking out (thanks anxiety) but the second I sit down and he greets me I am immediately at ease. He puts the time and effort to ensure everything not only looks right to him, but to myself as well. He is informative and you can tell he really cares about his career and the people he tattoos. I will come to this place for all of my future tattoos as long as Mat is working here.

I had called several times before my appointment to ask last minute questions, and everytime I spoke with someone on the phone they were very friendly and extremely helpful - which calmed my nerves! When I arrived for my appointment I was greeted by three people, one of them was my tattoo artist, Venus!!! Once I met Venus I knew right away that my experience was going to be filled with lots of laughs and a beautiful tattoo!! Being my first tattoo (on my foot, too), I was quite nervous!! I had my first Tattoo done by the Amazingly talented Dijah, and she was very professional and explained the whole process before starting, and made sure I was comfortable the whole time. The shop was very clean and the rest of the staff there were all friendly and welcoming as well. And they have artists for every style you may want, It was a very good experience all around. Dijah did amazing work! I love her style and such good quality work, I’ve since returned and had 2 more pieces done by her. She does amazing work every time! She is seriously so talented, and has an excellent artistic vision! I always get compliments on them too, I cant wait to return, as i’ve already booked more sessions with her in the near future. 10/10 recommended!

Just follow their simple protocol of using saline solution and you should have no problems.....just be prepared for a wait especially on a Sunday as the prices are a little cheaper so the crowd is larger. I provided a deposit before and booked an appointment in early March. Unfortunately, Covid locked everything down. They rebooked several times hoping for the rules to change, but once they did I was still uncomfortable with the situation due to immunocompromised people in my home. I asked to hold off until the Fall which was received well-enough but when I asked today for my money back because I see no time in the near future to safely get a tattoo and lets face it, what was a indulgent luxury 8 months ago is a needless expense now. When I requested my the return the response was "sorry, nope... we have bills and families to feed" because obviously their family and bills take precedence over my own. Their need for my $100 sitting in their banks for 8 months is more valuable than the health of my family. The stand by that they will not return the funds regardless of the fact that they're the ones who cancelled twice during covid and now that I'd actually just like my money back they won't do it.

I had an amazing piercing experience here. The lady who did my piercings today was Faith and she was so nice. I was really nervous but she made it quick easy and painless. Despite the fact that it was busy on Sunday because of the half off piercings, she still was able to make sure I got all the information I needed and I didn't feel rushed at all. For anyone worried about cleanliness they wore gloves, used sterile needles fresh out of the package and cleaned jewlery. I was also given some privacy in the back behind panels due to my nervousness, so they were very understanding and super nice. I've had other piercings done here like my tongue, my cartilage and my navel and they all healed up beautifully. Great experiences here.

This was my first time getting a lift and tint and it makes such a positive difference that allows your face to stand out naturally (and it lasts from 6-8 weeks!!). Amanda was great; when the solution was sitting on my lashes, she applied a lip mask and even gave me a hand massage - so I felt like I was having a full spa treatment! The location itself is super spacious, clean and cultured and they have their own parking lot in the back, or there's lots of close street parking off of Britannia Ave. I would recommend Amanda's services 100% and I think I'll be going back again in the future.

I got my second tat here bu Mat and what a gem he is. Hes funny and caring and really cares about his work. I woukd recommend anyone looking for new ink to definitely go to Grim. Its the best place by far that ive checked out. Even the staff go above and beyond to ensure youre comfortable and happy with gour design and tat. It was such a pleasureable experience ive ready got a 3rd tat i want and im going to Grim to get it. Thanks guys for everything you rock.

I went there today to get an elephant done by Dijah. She was amazing the whole time, she had a super great vibe and was fast and but efficient. The piece looks so beautiful, I gave her a general idea of what I was looking for and she did it better than I even imagined it! The price was very reasonable.

10/10 Would Recommend Kristian Gutauskas for a tattoo. Got my first tattoo in January and he was so easy to work with and understanding about it being my first tattoo and really took me through the process and eased my nerves. I couldn’t be happier with my tattoo. The healing process was really quick and easy. His line work is unreal!! :) I got my second tattoo from him today and again, so easy to work with and had a blast. Will definitely not be my last tattoo with him :)

I've always gotten my tattoos done here and they've been fantastic but my last tattoo sitting was by far my favorite. The staff at the front desk were extremely nice and welcoming. My artist Shane did an amazing job helping me put together a special tattoo for my son and I and was great to talk to the whole sitting. I will always recommend this shop and when I come back I will definitely be booking with Shane.

Super cool place, piercing was done in a timely manner, with no wait. I get all my piercings here, the staff knows what they’re doing and they make sure you’re comfortable. They are all really good at understanding what you want exactly and make sure you get the exact piercing you want (including jewelry choice and placement), awesome vibes, really cool people, never a problem.

My artist was Shane and he is honestly such a genuine dude.
