Got to the door, asked if I could buy a nose ring and was told that I need to email them to make an appointment to look at the jewelry….very disappointing. I’m standing at your door offering you money for a nose ring and that couldn’t be accommodated. Total waste of an afternoon.

In June I got my nose pierced. Yolanda spent about 45 minutes chatting with me, checking out different jewelry against my skin tone and the size of my nose, she watched how I used my face, how my nose crinkles when I talk and where. She took me to the back, where she prepared the needle, and just kept me calm. The piercing was over before it started, basically painless, and with the aftercare she informed me about, I've had zero issues in the 3 months since my piercing. And the placement is fantastic! I don't live in Hamilton anymore, but I would consider making the trip to Cabin 13 if I was going to get another piercing. Yolanda was fantastic! Thanks!

They came highly recommended. They had great reviews. It was when I spoke with staff at the front on my first visit who put my mind at ease and answered my questions. They then set me up with a consultation with The Professor. Right away I felt at ease with him. He was able to take my idea and photo and make it into something better than I could imagine. He was patient with my questions. The day of the tattoo he was focused, yet chatted and made me feel relaxed. I have had numerous compliments on his work. Should my wife decide to get one or I get another, we will be back. I would recommend Cottage 13 to anyone. Talented artists, relaxing and welcoming atmosphere. Clean and tidy. Went in today to look for some pregnancy jewellery cos I'm pregnant. The girl at the desk went and asked and I could hear the piercer talking to her and saying she would come out front and we stood there while nobody helped us or acknowledged us even when everyone else had been helped.....not great customer service. Very professional artists! I got my nose pierced at grim city and the guy pierced it on a 3mm angle. After about a month of having it I went to cottage 13 and Alicia wasn’t even judgemental toward my story. She looked at it, cleaned it, changed the jewelry for me and gave me some great advice! Unfortunately I had to go in today to have it removed because my nose ovi still isn’t healing properly. Again, not judging me, she removed this piece of jewelry from my nose and both times I didn’t even feel a thing. She has the most gentle hands, (and I have a lot body piercings). Needless to say, I will be returing to cottage13 to repierce my nose in about 8 months time; and I will deffidently request Alicia! I suggest you do too!!

I had a horribly strange experience that has left me very confused. My belly button has been pierced for 20 years now. Since I am really small I have always used an eyebrow ring because the belly button rings were too large on me. I have never had any issues with using a smaller size, nor have I ever had a problem purchasing an eyebrow ring for my belly button. I walked in to Cottage 13 today, peeked at their collection and immediately found a ring I loved. The girl behind the counter asked if she could help me and I told her I wanted to buy the ring for my belly button and asked her for the price. She told me that she couldn't sell it to me because it was smaller than the typical ring used. I told her that my belly button was already pierced and I have been using a smaller size for the past 20 years. I wasn't interested in getting my belly pierced I was only interested in purchasing the ring. She rolled her eyes and said that she wouldn't sell it to me and proceeded to show me the belly button rings they had for sale. Confused, I proceeded to show her my pierced belly to show her they would never fit. I asked once again if I could please just purchase the ring and that I've never encountered an issue like this before. Her response was for me to wait in line for a minimum of half hour to speak with a professional piercer. I find it really strange that a person who works in a piercing establishment, who has approximately 20 piercings of all different sizes on her face, would tell me that I am not allowed to use or purchase one that fits my piercing. Her refusal to listen, rude attitude, and lack of common sense was very disappointing. Terrible customer service. **Update to your response** It is obvious that you're ability to read is as bad as your ability to listen. I would bet that the person responding to my review is the same person that sits behind the front desk. If not, it is extremely unfortunate that this business is operated by more than one incompetent being. My issue was never that I needed an appointment, I would have happily waited to speak with whoever could process my purchase. Also, I was never asked for my patience, I was rudely told that I could not purchase an eyebrow ring for my belly button because it wasn't the size typically used even though it's the size I've been using for the past 20 years. That is rediculous and deserves to be ridiculed especially since it came from a person who was heavily pierced with many different sized holes in her face that I would never be so rude to claim shouldn't be the size they are.

I've had an absolutely amazing experience getting my helix pierced here by Yolanda. The jewellery used is high quality, with options to purchase gold or white gold studs made here in Canada. Aftercare was explained throroughly (not rushed at all),and Yolanda made sure that I was comfortable and happy each step of the way. The aftercare spray I pruchased here is a blend they make, and is actually very soothing and doesn't irritate my ear at all. I got my daith pierced here recently. I was able to make a same-day appointment for it. Alicia was very professional, walked me through which jewelry to get, after care, and what steps she would be doing while she pierced my ear. Everything she used was clean and sterilzed, fresh out of a package. She was quiet at times, but she was focused on preparing everything properly. I was able to have my boyfriend in the room. The procedure itself took less than 5 minutes. This was my first experince getting something pierced other than my earlobes, and it was a very positive one.

The staff were generally pleasant but the bar they gave me for my nipple piercing was too small and the ball tip kept coming undone. The previous bar I had was thicker and longer but the piercer insisted on what she gave me. It eventually fell out just a month after I got it. The price was also more than double anywhere else for a straightforward piercing and the bar. Won't be going back.

Very professional, kind and patient folks there! I went there with some girlfriends to get some piercings done and they were very clean (constantly sanitizing where transfer may have occurred) and made sure to be weary of and possible concerns we had. The Piercer has 22 yrs of experience and I have to say there is a lot of value to her experience. I am really happy with how my piercing turned out and I really valued her advice on where and why it should go where. The jewelery there is really nice! It was probably the hardest part about getting the whole piercing done - picking out what I wanted there! This is definitely a great place to go and I had a great experience!

I went in to get my septum pierced today and I'm not from the area so I contacted my regular piercer for a reference and she said this is this is one of the only reputable shops in Hamilton. I was greated with cheer and shown my options for jewelry and asked what my preferences were, if any. I chose my jewelry and my piercer went to clean and set up the room. It was so clean and even smelled clean in the shop. It was well lit and the environment was friendly. When my piercer was set up, she came back out and got me. All tools and equipment were opened right in front of me and she thoroughly explained the procedure to me, cleaned my nose while we chatted, she told me about after care for this particular piercing and made the markings where she needed them and then pierced. It was quick, she explained everything she was doing and what to expect. She was so nice, and so thorough and now I know I have a new piercer for when I move to Hamilton. I will definitely be back for more work in the future.

She is incredibly knowledgeable and professional, she gave great advice on which earrings would look best with my ear shape. The business was also very cognizant of covid and did a great job making sure employees and customers were following guidelines and the environment was kept incredibly clean. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Perfect piercing experience. Extremely professional and friendly piercer. No complaints there. HOWEVER: One star off for the following reason: At Cottage 13, the "piercing aftercare" spray they sell is not necessary, and in my opinion is not good practice. All you need to keep a piercing clean and healthy is salt (saline rinses and saltwater soaks). Anything else is not necessary, and encouraging people to buy a tiny bottle of random stuff (basically glycerin, witch hazel, and a few essential oils in unknown concentrations and with no confirmation that any of this is sterile) for 9 dollars is bad practice. All you need is saline wound wash from Shoppers, sea salt soaks if possible (try to get non-iodized and Google for the right ratio of water/salt so you don't dry out your piercing), run warm water on it in the shower to soften/remove crusties, and keep an eye on it but otherwise leave it alone and let your body do the work. That's it. This is common practice now among all reputable piercers, and I was annoyed that I was encouraged to buy this bottle of random stuff after an otherwise perfect experience.

The artists are very talented, but when I had my appointment I was told about a bottle fee, which added an extra $15 on my final cost. I was told about it during my consultation but I find it an odd thing to charge considering no other shop I've been to has charged me that. I have had 3 large, complicated pieces done at Cottage 13, my first one over 15 years ago when they we’re still on King St. - in all I've spent a couple of grand here. Unfortunately I’m done with this shop. The artists are great and it’s a nice clean place however the attitude I’ve received on the front end most recently have left me feeling like they could care less about my business much less my tattoo. I called in yesterday to see if there might be someone available for a small, quick bit of script which happened to be my dad’s suicide note. The woman I spoke with took pains to tell me the artists may not want to do the work because script is tricky and has tendency to fade. This is good advice but I did make clear that I was already heavily tattooed and understood the cons of this type of tattoo. She didn't offer to set up a consultation, suggesting simply that I come in and roll the dice. Last year I had scheduled a large piece with a new artist, Jared. I put down a good sized deposit and arrived for a 2 hr session. All was well and I booked my 2nd session. A few days later the artist contacted me directly to inform me that he would no longer be working out of Cottage 13. No one from Cottage 13 made contact with me to work things out. When I came in to see about getting my deposit back I was informed that without the original receipt there was nothing I could do. In fairness, after a bit of struggle, they did end up refunding me but they didn't offer to set me up with another artist, leaving me to scramble and figure it out on my own. Again, the whole experience left me feeling like they had zero interest in maintaining a relationship with a loyal client. I'm not saying don't go here, there is nothing wrong with the quality of the artists or the shop. But if you are looking for a place that is going to take your art as seriously as you do, maybe shop around.

My rating is for the piercings done at this location! I have never been tattooed at this shop ☺️ Yolanda is easily the best piercer I have ever been to. From start to finish her bedside manner is amazing, she's very well versed in what she does (not that this comes as a surprise since she's been piercing for almost as long as I've been alive), and she completely prepares you for after care and expectations. I'm not sure I could find a more experienced piercer anywhere if I tried, but I would never because she was genuinely fantastic. I would give her 6/5 if I could.

I got an eyebrow piercing here. Having never had a piercing or tattoo, I was quite nervous. Alicia patiently answered my questions, took her time to place the piercing, I felt that she was trying to get it perfect, not just good enough. I am very pleased with the results. I went to go look at the selection of belly button rings and the girl was so rude to me. Wouldn’t let me look at them closely... and I never touched them but she basically said don’t touch them or you’re paying for every single one of them. If they fall out they will get scratched up . Then you’re paying for all of them . That’s a little much. I’m an adult and I was just trying to look closely to see what I was interested in - don’t treat me like a child. Unbelievable and so rude... I didn’t touch them but lacks kindness or understanding of positive customer service. I didn’t even want to buy anything after being treated this way. I left... Nope. Got a tattoo done here last year that bled out due to inserting the needle too deep. He kept insisting it was not 'healed yet' but I was persistent and went to another recommended shop that said it was in fact 'blown out'... the new shop added white flowers to my what was supposed to be an initially simple tattoo to fix it. Cottage 13 gave me my money back, but come on, it's permanent man! Take it more seriously. Later I came to find out the same thing happened to my cousin with the same artist who I will not name. Must happen often because after I got my money back he blocked me on Instagram.

I am so so happy I found this place. I traveled from Toronto based on the reviews and I couldn't be happier with my experience. Yolanda was AMAZING! She explained everything in detail, didn't rush me in the least and was very professional. She took her time looking at my face to ensure the piercings would be doable. It has only been a week and a half but my piercings look great and are healing well :) Definitely make sure you call ahead to make an appointment as they are busy! Do not go here. I had come here to have a navel piercing done originally at the price of 105 but was told it was not do able for me because when I sit down my belly button folds (as do the majority of people’s so). I instead had my helix done just a simple piercing that cost me $120, MORE than the original price of the navel. This piercing (and to mention again very VERY simple piercing) cost me more than my my first tattoo which is words along my entire collar bone. $50 for the piercing and only the piercing which is much over priced considering the tools used was only a sterile needle. And $65 for the jewelry which was not even sterling silver or gold it was the basic titanium/surgical steel. Not to mention when my friend was giving me advice while waiting she had to come out and tell my friend off, that I should only listen to what she (the piercer) had to say; even though when the time came she gave me the same advice my friend had. I thanked the receptionist and the piercer as I am very polite saying “have a great day” and “thank you very much” and I was ignored by the receptionist. The only plus was the shop is very clean and appealing. I do not write google reviews, this is my first that I felt needed to be written as I was so devastated (and broke) with my experience at cottage 13.
