The lines are so crooked.. and the design is so poorly done. I didn’t even get to do a touch up because the artist wasn’t returning my texts or Instagram direct messages.

I have 3 amazing tattoos (1 currently in progress) thanks to Nick and I'm so in love with each of them. The shop and atmosphere is clean, warm and welcoming. The artists have a good rapport with one another and they all do amazing work (seriously, my new goal is to have at least one tattoo from each artist LOL). I highly recommend this place to many friends who inquire about tattoo's. I went from 0 to 3 in less than a year and am very pleased with how I was able to go in with just a vague idea of what i wanted and have nick turn it into an amazing piece of art that winds up much better than I could have imagined.

Im reluctant to explain the experience I had at this place. I recently got Nick to do a very large dragon tattoo that covers my whole back. I came for a consultation and left a 105$ deposit to have him draw up the piece (As per their policy). My follow-up appointment was booked a month in advance because I had a trip. When I came to view my piece, nothing was done. It was half drawn up, even worse when I came back for my second viewing of the piece, it was at the same progress that it was the first time I saw it! The time management was terrible. Nick had forgotten to take the fire off of the dragon that I had asked him via text NOT to include. My appointment time was at 5PM day of, you think anything was done?? We didnt end up getting started on the piece until about 8:30 when the shop was closed. I stayed after hours until 10PM to have the first half finished. VERY unprofessional. I was a little uncomfortable being the only one in the shop after closing. The artist choice of conversation didnt help as he said if you flirt with your female clients youll get a better tip. I had one more session with him after that went about the same. I brought my boyfriend to sit with me and decided to have the tattoo capped off at the outline just to get my deposit back and move on to go somewhere else. My boyfriend and I have spend over 2000$ at Happy Buddha and our experience was the worst ive had coming from a highly rated tattoo shop. We will not be returning

Aly Brook suposed to do first tattoo ( it was so important to me) she was busy at the time she said she is going to call me as soon as she get free whitin 3 hours! after 3 hours no call and I showd up at this place now they are telling me she has left for an appoinment for a blood work!!! she literally ruien my birthday and the worst costumer service!!!!

I booked an appointment with Alicia for myself and 3 friends as we wanted to get matching tattoos. The booking was super easy, she found a date that accommodated all of us while staying within Covid rules. When we arrived at the shop everything was done seamlessly! Our sketch was already drawn out, 2 people went in at a time. Jin did my tattoo, I’m not new to the tattoo game as I have a sleeve and some other ones even knowing that Jin kept checking in on me making sure I was good, I was so relaxed that I ended up falling asleep lol! I’m super happy with my new ink! One other thing that really impressed me was how Alicia speaks to the customers and understands their needs. Two of my friends skipped breakfast and she told them to go grab a quick bite before getting tattooed and educated them on why it’s important to ensure they have food and are hydrated. I was pretty impressed by that as other places I’ve gone to haven’t really paid attention, it also calmed the nervous of one of my friends as it was her first. I'll definitely be going back and recommending Happy Buddha to other people, the artists are amazing and staff are great!

Absolute worst tattoo I’ve ever received, the artist did the complete opposite of what I wanted! I made him stop half way though & he wouldn’t let me use my diposit on the tattoo because to him the tattoo wasn’t finished, even thought I’ll never be returning. Plus it ended up being a couple hundred dollars more than he originally told me. unfortunately I’m now having to spend a bunch of money to go to another artist to get it fixed. I’d i could give this place zero stars I would. This being said, I got my tattoo about a year ago & I know it’s under new ownership now BUT that artist is still there.

Bad experience here trying to get my first tattoo, alicia or however you spell it gave me the worst vibes, she seems like she doesnt care about the job at all. She claims to be manager which is hilarious since she might be the most unprofessional and most unhelpful person ever. She gave away my reservation on her whim after blaming me both over the phone and insta. I tried my best to get a tattoo here but after this interaction I would stay far away, if this is how a manager behaves then the whole store is rotting. If there's a problem you don't just start attacking the customer especially if it's one that's caused by how the store is run.

Came into Happy Buddha tattoo one day with the intention of getting my first tattoo; with nothing particular in mind I knew I wanted to go big! The environment was inviting, clean and overall friendly. I was introduced to a couple of artists, shown their portfolios and knew right away who my pick was going to be. The color work of Lud Bradley drew me in, the layers of ink blending together to create a beautiful work of art on skin! We talked about what would look good on the spot where I wanted to get it(my thigh) And came up with an amazing mystical owl piece! Three sessions in and I don't want to stop! His line work is clean and bold, and really holds its borders well. Working quickly he knocked out the outline in 2 hours! 1 session down! The next encounter was two weeks later when the upper portion was completed; wow does that color pop! Just finished my third session and cannot wait for more! Thank you Happy Buddha for giving me a wonderful first experience! The rest can't come quick enough and I find myself frequenting their shop quite often; just to see what's going on!

I'm thoroughly disappointed having to leave this review as I had higher expectations. This is not the first tattoo salon I have been to, but I will never be going back here nor making any recommendations. I booked a consultation 1 month in advance and left my deposit, I sat down and told my artist what I was visioning and we came up with some ideas. The artist told me they would have the sketch ready a month from that date when I booked the first session. When I arrived a month later, after sending emails with no reply of my ideas, the artist did not even have my sketch ready for me to see and tried to sketch on the spot. Disappointed, I booked another consultation 2 weeks from that date, only to arrive and still have it not yet drawn up and was told they would free hand the remaining work needed. Needless to say after 3 "consultation" sessions I declined the work that was supposed to be done (half sleeve piece). I decided to get another small tattoo as I wanted to leave with atleast something and at this point had waited almost 2 months. At the start of my session my artist asked if I minded if they got high and smoked one. I didn't mind since I smoke too but now that I think about it, someone completely sober should be tattooing you at all times no matter what. While tattooing my piece the artist still had the gun going while talking to me, and "accidentally" tattooed my arm. I now have for the rest of my life on my arm what looks like a pen mark and will be forced to get it removed or something overtop to cover it. My boyfriend had an appointment with a different artist sometime later at the shop and wanted simple roses. Upon arriving the artist complained and said he would be deciding what went on my boyfriends body since it was his name on the line. I'm sorry but if I have to walk around with something on my body for the rest of my life I'm 100% going to make the final call, "artist" or not. Very very disappointed, wasn't even given the option to have my deposit back. Would never recommend, very unprofessional.

Nick was AMAZING! I had an awful tattoo I got 18 years ago that was faded and I wanted covered up. I called so many places and they refused to do the coverup without even an in person consultation. I came across @knicktattoo on Instagram and saw he had done complicated coverups and reached out to him. It was nothing positive from there on. After two sessions my horrible drunken butterfly and stars are GONE and covered with a gorgeous rose and mandala tattoo that I am in love with. Just got my knuckles done by Tristan today, I got their phone number mixed up and accidentally booked with another tattoo shop, I showed up and luckily they were able to fit me in with no appointment that day. Pricing is reasonable and the quality was insane I went to highschool with ivyJean and her work is unbelievable! Tristan killed it today and was quick with his job and it was executed perfectly. Walked in & this place turned into my go to spot. Interior was just renovated and the studio space is super modern and clean. Would recommend to anybody and everybody!! Amber did a great job on my first tattoos! If you’re looking for an artist that does great line work I definitely recommend this place. Receptionist was friendly and didn’t mind answering any questions that I had about how to take care of my tattoos. Only thing that wasn’t great is that I pre booked with another artist and didn’t receive him on the day of my appointment but my experience with amber makes that such a minor problem.

I read a lot of negative reviews on this place so I was pretty hesitant to check it out. I wanted to form my own opinion through experience so I decided to walk-in for a last second tattoo I wanted to get. My first overall impression walking in was the studio looked dope and it was super clean. I was able to sit down with an artist within 20 min and he was patient with me as it took as quite a bit of time to find the exact design I wanted. The tattoo meant a lot to me so I appreciate the artist being patient. I was in and out of there within a couple hours and I left with nothing but positive feelings toward Happy Buddha Tattoo. This was my very first tattoo and I’m glad i chose a place with great staff who are professional but also know how to lighten up the mood. Don’t let a couple of negative reviews by some stuck up people cloud your mind with negative judgement about this place. Respect to everyone I interacted with. I’ll definitely go back there.

Alex was really unprofessional he charged me 1400 for an unfinished not even half sleeve( I have really small arms) and charged me when he was the one to ask for a breaks constantly he would leave the meter on not to mention my tattoo is super uneven and does not look like a 1400 $ tattoo thank god another artist is going to be fixing it . I am so disappointed and feel like I got ripped off because I had money ! Don't recommend I didn't say anything at the time because I thought he would fix the uneven lines with shading but now it almost just looks like a fat blob :( I don't want anyone else to experience this

Walked in hoping to get a tattoo. Was done within an hour. The staff was so great and so, so funny. They were very clean and professional. Lud did my tattoo and I love it! Will (hopefully) be coming back next time I'm in BC.

My bf went in to get a cover up done. The shop was very clean, comfortable and welcoming. The artist Lud was personable and he was able to sit down with you to discuss a personalized design as well as many albums to look over tattoo ideas. It's in a convenient location next to Columbia Skytrain Station and the staff there are very accommodating as a walk in customer, we were not turned away or had to make an appointment with an artist which suited us bc we are not the appointment type people. You could make an appointment as well. My next piece will be there, as a female I find the staff there kind and respectful, kind and at ease. Very professional staff can't wait! Thanks guys!

I came in for a random tattoo, off the street, and the staff was incredibly helpful and welcoming. The woman who was at the front desk was caring and incredibly professional; I think her name was Alicia. The entire staff was professional and friendly, and my tattoo artist nailed the design that I brought in. Would definitely recommend, and will definitely be returning for more work to be done! 11/10

Myself and 4 of my friends walked in on a Friday to see about getting some work done, the staff were super friendly and they were able to fit all of us in, 4 of the 5 got multiple tattoos, everyone left extremely happy with the work we all got done and had an awsome time while we were there, shop is very clean and staff once again were amazing to us, highly recommend to anyone in the area, we will be back
