You know I was browsing around looking for a black-owned tattoo artist and which I did indeed discover one in the area not far. Just jump to the best part! Went and got my first ever tattoo as my own Birthday present. The sista was so dope with positive vibe & energy she did such an amazing job on the work you see here. So after months of stalking her page, I finally decided to take the plunge. I had been watching a few artists' pages as well, but something about her energy drew me in! From the booking, to directions, to the welcoming atmosphere, to say that I am pleased would be an understatement. I was nervous about getting my first tattoo, and Mel was able to pick up on that and put me at ease. She gave me an overview of the process before starting, and ensured that I was comfortable and hydrated! I especially appreciated her taking the time to show me that she was taking fresh needles out of the package, and her sanitation practices. (I know this should be standard, but she really made it a point to add that extra touch of reassurance). Her after care support has been amazing. Needless to say that I'm happy to say that I lost my tattoo virginity to such a beautiful (inside & out) Artiste. I have NOT stopped getting compliments and questions about the intricacy and detail of her artwork. If you're looking for superior client experience with more than a touch of love, check out Mel. I had the pleasure of getting a tattoo done by Melanin Desire . She did a custom rose piece half sleeve for me and I couldn't be happier with the results. I was fairly vague with my idea and the direction that I wanted to go in, and was able to trust her artist senses. The entire process from booking, the consultation, to the execution was nothing but professional. I have three other tattoos and I can whole-heatedly say that this experience was SO MUCH better than the other studios I have visited. The studio was clean and easy to find plus she even put on a music of your choice during the session. Great professionalism. First time getting a tattoo. Was nervous about the entire process. Melissa quickly put me at ease by explaining the process, healing and being frank about different pain thresholds. Started small checking to make sure I was okay and if the pain was tolerable. The conversation flowed effortlessly that I was distracted from the actual pain. Was given a lot of detail on the healing process and and the how to's on my own, was also reassured to contact her if any questions or concerns came up. My tatto us healing nicely and we have plans to create and get a few more done. Highly recommend Melanin Desires❤.

She offers temporary tattoos which is more geared towards someone like me who may not be physically able to have tattoos done, or scared of the pain associated with the tattoo process.
