Today will be a day to remember I took my second big step in my self-transformation thanks to Gwan Soon Lee Tattoos & Piercings Today I made a decision to conquer one of my fears and I got my first tattoo..My tattoo is pretty small, so I'm sure getting a sleeve or a calf tattoo would be a much more painful experience than mine. That said, I still can't believe how manageable my pain was. I was able to carry on a conversation with my friend and the tattoo artist the entire time, and in my opinion, any pain you can talk through isn't all that bad. The staff at Gwan Soon Lee Tattoos & Piercings was incredibly helpful and patient with me. I cannot thank them enough for helping me through this journey, this tattoo has opened up a new chapter for me and has crossed off one thing off my bucket list. THANK YOU..???? ????

Excellent shop, fair pricing, and is run by friendly professionals who are serious about their passion. My girlfriend and I were seeking our first tattoos, and contacted them this past week via Instagram around 3:30 pm. We got a response within a half hour, and they asked us to come in for a consultation at 5:00 pm. Nearly two hours later, we were both finished, and very pleased with their work! Being newbies, we asked many questions, and they also advised us how to properly take care of our tattoos. I have already recommended friends, and am very satisfied with their business, especially with their attention to customer service!

I got pierced here and I will not be a returning customer. I went in to get my conch pierced and this place had good reviews so I trusted they would do everything correctly. The process of getting the piercing done went very quickly and very smoothly. However, 2 months later I went to a jewelry spot to get my hoop changed out where I was then told I had been pierced with a 20 gauge hoop!!!! That is what is used for nose rings! I was told I’d have to get pierced again with the correct size if I wanted to purchase any normal jewelry for a conch piercing. The worst part is I live in Oshawa so I cant just go back and ask them to re pierce it. Complete waste of my money, I am frustrated and disappointed. Side note: Customer service here was also not great the employees were not personable at all.

Looking at the reviews, I thought this parlor would be an amazing place to get a few piercings before the end of summer. Unfortunately, similar to other piercing reviews on this page, I had one of the worst experiences. I had gone to this parlor to get a double helix piercing, it is worth mentioning that I do suffer from a skin condition and that I require solid materials when getting pierced. I have multiple piercings and I am aware of the after-care process. I specifically asked twice for titanium and before getting pierced I confirmed with the piercer if it was titanium which she had confirmed. When I got pierced I got two "titanium" jewelry with butterfly backend (I also paid extra for "titanium"). I was quite confused since my other helix piercing got a flat backend, I didn't question it at first, but it did alarm me that something was not quite right. A month later, I had gone to another piercing parlor downtown and was told that the jewelry was low-grade surgical steel and that was why it wasn't healing properly, additionally, that the post (extremely short) and backend were incorrect for that type of piercing. He proceeded to show me the earing, and it was completely bent and asymmetrical, which demonstrates how low quality the earing was. I wasn't upset at first since I did not have any infections, but when I contacted the owner that's when I started to get angry about the service. I had gone to the parlor yesterday just to tell her of the whole ordeal and did not even request a refund since it was a service-based purchase. All I wanted was her employees to know that they can't claim that something is titanium and give a client something else especially if they suffer from a skin issue that could have caused a serious issue. (Not to mention, but my skin condition is visible, and I had mentioned it before getting pierced to the piercer, and that's why I had requested titanium.) The owner had completely ignored my issue and directed one of her workers. I had requested my waiver just as a reference as to what I had signed off on since I wanted to ensure that false material was not on it. She (the worker) had taken down my statement and everything but has still not contacted me about the issue at hand. I'd also like to mention that when getting pierced, the piercing had touched multiple pieces of jewelry and had not changed her gloves before piercing at the sight which also gives me red flags about the business. I also believe some of the positive reviews regarding piercings could be fake.

I got a flat piercing and helix months ago that never seemed to heal and would randomly bleed at the slightest touch. about 2 months ago I swapped both piercings used at the shop with earrings of my own and both started healing normally and are now fully healed. This place uses the wrong metals for piercings and from other reviews this might not be an accident. I'm glad I stopped blaming my care treatments and took initiative to switch out my piercings. also happy I read more of the negative reviews as the vibe of the artists and parlor can be deceiving. i was also considering starting my tattoo journey here but now I'm convinced malpractice may be going on here wow.

Got a tragus piercing here, expected it to hurt like hell but it was genuinely the easiest and least painful one so far (prev. include: daith, conch, and couple helix). Price was OK, 60 (includes price of jewellry) and it came to 67$ CAD after tax. The piercer was experienced and super kind, as was the person working desk. Clean and professional environment, I'll be coming back again :D

I got 4 piercings here. The conch had the wrong type of jewelery put in and was at an angle that put pressure on it and caused me to have a painful bump. When I called I wasn't even seen, just told over the phone it was a keloid. I ended up going to a more knowledgeable and experienced piercer in Toronto. So I had to remove and let it heal and pay to get pierced again. It wasn't a keloid btw. The daith also had the wrong jewlery put in, also still managing bumps on it. I had to pay to get different jewelry as well. If you're getting lobe piercings I think they're fine but I wouldn't trust them with cartilage or anything else.

"UPDATE" This is now exactly 3 weeks old. I'm digusted!! Also just putting it out there, that I've been at home recovering from surgery for 3 weeks. So I haven't had to obsessively sanitize my hands like you would in public due to Covid. Literally the worst tattoo I've ever had and they refuse to fix their own shotty work" I've never posted a review in my life on Google, but people need to be warned before coming to this place. I paid 125$ for a 2 inch wobbly thin lined tattoo. I was displeased so asked two days later if when healed, I can get it fixed. I was told I'd have to pay an extra $40. IN WHAT WORLD would I ever want to go back and pay again for a trash tattoo. Avoid this place if you can. Worst tattoo I've ever gotten

I got my navel pierced a couple months ago and I had no problems with it what so ever. (I love it very much) The place is sanitary and well organized. Gwan used clean tools and asked me if I was okay with the marks she had made. She was very friendly and answered all of my questions. I would highly recommend.

Amazing place to get a Tattoo! I got a Tattoo at the end of September 2021 and it turned out AMAZING! The staff were all very helpful in helping to create and adjust my tattoo with giving suggestions so that my tattoo would come out great. I especially chose to come here because I wanted Korean writing in my Tattoo and wanted to make sure it was done properly and everything was spelled correctly. Everyone was very friendly and the Tattoo was completed in the estimated time frame which was great. I would definitely recommend getting your Tattoo done here.

I recently got a piercing done here, everyone was nice and professional!! I have a bit of a needle phobia and everyone was extremely kind and accommodating. I was in and out quite quickly (it wasn’t rushed or anything, they were just experienced) and the woman who did the piercing (i’m assuming it was the owner) clearly knew what she was talking about and was very comforting. My piercing was only a bit sore at the touch after a couple days and i’ve had no issues with healing so far. I’m definitely coming here again for future piercings and possibly tattoos, and definitely recommending to other people

This was my first tattoo so i was pretty nervous, but i had an idea in mind. We had 2 consultations just to fix up my design and figure out how i wanted it exactly. Throughout the whole process, emails were timely(eventho they were busy) and appointments were quick and to the point. When it was time to get my tatt i was comfortable enough to lay there and finally get it. The end result is an amazing design that went on the left side of my chest. The wheel of Chakra that's in the middle of the Indian flag, with a Ying-Yang in the middle. My favourite part is my mom and grandma birthdates go around it and just blessed the whole piece and I love it. I'm going to have to covered in ink eventually and i think i just found the place that knows exactly what my vision is and that's beautiful.

Very nice receptionists, piercers, and tattoo artists. The owner is a really sweet Korean lady, she gives off cool grandma vibes (✿^‿^) They can be a bit pricey depending on what tattoo you want and be aware that they have a $50 deposit that isn't refundable. Edit: I've changed my rating as I've been to other places and realized this place overcharges way too much for the services they provide. The tattoo I got here was my first and had i known the end result I never would've gone. I got a wrist tattoo and it's crooked :( another tattoo artist had to try and fix it. I went to get my septum done she set up everything in front of me. I watched her compare clamps for 10 minutes. She wouldn’t let my boyfriend in the room to hold my hand. She pierced it wrong and had to redo it, after it getting caught on my nasal cavity, and I had to remove it myself. She then kept trying to do the piercing slowly!? I’m not sure where she was trained but definitely not qualified for facial piercings. Also might I add this was done during stage Two of Covid. Edit: They offered a piercing for free if I removed the review because of the fact that I had stated that they did a piercing during stage two. :)

Went here a couple week ago to get a Helix piercing done. As soon as I walked in I was greeted with smiles and friendly service! The lady who did my piercing was very friendly, professional and over all just amazing. I got my ears pierced here a couple of months ago and I'm honestly upset. The place was clean and the people were friendly but I was assured 4 times that the earings they use are titanium. They are not. I had a horrible reaction to the cheap piercing that they charged me $70 dollars for. I was scammed and can't say this is a place I'd return too. Very disappointed. I went elsewhere and they only charged me 50 and gave me real titanium.

I really wanted to like this place and leave a good review :( i rarely leave any reviews at all but unfortunately this time i feel like i should. I got 3 cartilage piercings a week ago. Two one one ear and one on the other. I cleaned my ears 2-3 times a day with saline solution and was pretty careful with it but unfortunately it got badly infected ( which is noones fault) it can happen to anyone depending on how your body responds. But when i went to see another piercer to get my ear checked they have told me she used the wrong type of jewelry. I wanted to give the piercer the benefit of the doubt but after a lot of research i have realized that was true. She used earrings with butterfly clasps which apparently should never be used for cartilage piercings because the ears swell so much. And one of the earrings even bended whilst in my ear. I went back to the shop and asked her to take them both out as advised by my doctor and tried to ask for a partial refund. She has said its not her fault which i understand she has done a service but unfortunately the service was poor.

They put up a strong front of being very kind and considerate but they literally only care about the cash in your pocket, they wont tell you that theres no tax if you pay cash in order to get you to pay more, their tattoos are overpriced ridiculously and there have been multiple instances of misconduct (piercing a nose post revoked consent) and Gwan Soon’s last shop was close for uncleanliness but they wont tell you that either. They think very little of mental health and are extremely nosy and don’t understand professional boundaries. Not to mention none of their apprentices are payed and they do 80% of the maintenance of the shop (e.g cleaning the whole shop, cleaning/disinfecting the tools, answering phones, scheduling, customer service 8hrs a day for no pay (when they get government money for even taking on apprentices; assuming they even put them on the books..)

If you are thinking of getting a piercing please do not go to this place. I had a terrible experience getting my Medusa piercing. I had an appointment for 8, ended up getting my piercing at 8:40 and only leaving the place at about 9:10. When I sat on the chair to get the piercing, the piercer asked me what piercing I wanted to get, which is already unprofessional in my opinion as most places already have the set up ready for your piercing. When I told her the name of the piercing she looked extremely confused so I said “philtrum” as that is the correct name for that piercing. She still had no clue of what piercing that was so she asked me to show her where it was pierced, which makes me wonder if she is even a certified piercer or just a tattoo artist. After that, she was checking the placement and showed me the bar she was going to pierce it with, keep in mind the bar was very short and I know that this piercing tends to swell a lot so I asked if there was any other longer bar or if she thought that bar would be okay for swelling, her answers were “I am not sure” or “I think it will be okay”, she ended up finding a slightly longer bar and told me that one would be okay. She then went ahead and pierced my lip EXTREMELY SLOW. When the piercing was done I could tell it didn’t look right and she had pierced my Medusa at an angle, which caused the bar to get caught in my teeth. I felt very concerned and asked her if she taught it was pierced right, she not once assured me it was pierced right and told me right away “I told you to get the shorter bar.” I was very unhappy with the piercing so I asked it if she could put the shorter bar in, she agreed to do it (which is not safe and puts me at risk for an infection). About a minute later of taking the bar out she went ahead and clamped my lip again and was going to repierce it but she told me she had to make a different hole at the back (she knew the piercing was not right but didn’t want to admit to it). I was in so much pain and did not trust her to pierce my lip a second time so I did not go through with it, which I am glad. I called another piercing shop and explained what had happened and they told me piercers would never repierce the same spot twice right after it had been pierced as that leads to scar tissue build up and potential infections. When it came to payment, my piercing was originally going to be $80, I ended up having to pay $60 dollars. I left without a piercing, just a badly pierced hole in my lip. Would never recommend this place to anyone, they only care about the money!

I personally cannot recommend this place for piercings, I went about a month ago and had a mediocre experience and results. Basically if you notice details like me and are looking for guidance, then you won't pleased. I had my left earlobe pierced already years ago, and went here to also get my right earlobe pierced. Unfortunately after the piercing, my newly pierced right earlobe was noticeably not even with the left earlobe. I expected better from a professional place, i.e. professional measuring tool which was not used. I also wasn't 100% sure where I wanted the placement of my cartilage piercing, so I asked for their opinion of the placement, unfortunately I did not get much advice and it was left up to me. I went ahead where she made the mark for the piercing, but the cartilage was pierced too low, which is my fault for accepting. I just expected more professional advice and guidance of the placement which I did not get at all. Also I got a hoop for my cartilage which is not ideal for healing. Wish they told me about that. Thankfully I found a place in Toronto that was able to give me guidance on the perfect placement for my cartilage piercing, basically giving me what they feel is the best placement, and they consulted me in detail. Also they told me the hoop is not good for cartilage healing. The other place in Toronto was also able to accurately measure the right earlobe and re-pierce it, so it is now even with the left earlobe. Overall not impressed with Gwan Soon Lee Piercings, as someone who was looking for consultation/advice and accurate measurement for piercings, this is not the place.

I decided to get my first tattoo last year and just looked up the best tattoo shops in the area and this shop was the first one that came up. 1 year later, and I've gotten all 3 of my tattoos done by them. Recently got my first rose tattoo touched up with a masterpiece on my sternum by Jina herself. I will always be recommending this place for anyone looking for a neat and professional tattoo. The artists make you feel so comfortable and important as they make sure to take care of you (from water bottles to fanning you when you might pass out lol).

I came here to buy jewellery. I was trying to ask questions from the person working there and got very little guidance. I emphasized I have reactions to metals, they sold me some garbage stating they were surgical steel and hypoallergenic. My few years healed piercings became green, inflamed, and pus filled within 1 week. I had to take them out and when I brought the pieces back to the shop, they denied that the jewelry was surgical steel. After going to a more reputable, experienced shop, they explained "surgical steel" to describe jewellery is a gimmicky phrase to broadly cover lower quality jewelry to pass them off as legit. Lesson learned. Would not recommend the jewellery here.

There is no other place I would go for my tattoos. It is a very clean and friendly environment. I had some paw prints done by Stephen and he got every detail down and understood how much the detail of these prints meant to me. I will definitely come back here for my next tattoo.

I never leave bad reviews but I wish I could give zero stars. This was my first and last time at Gwan Soon Lee. I called ahead and asked for a piercing change and two new earrings for my double helix and I was quoted $15 for the piercing change + price of the earrings I choose. I ended up paying $69 +tip. The owner/manager was not very nice or understanding when I explained my conversation/quote on the phone. She also imputed the wrong amount on the credit/debit machine and blamed me. The piercing artist, although quite nice, did not wash her hands (with dirty fingernails) before she put on the gloves and touched my piercing (she had just come back from having a snack outside). I will not be coming back. They just wanted money and didn’t care to make me a happy customer that would return again.

Prices are ridiculously expensive. They charge $20 to remove a SINGLE piercing. I had three removed ( 2 earlobes and 1 rook; nothing too crazy) and they charged me $40. They took off $20 but still $40 to remove 3 piercings makes absolutely no sense. I was getting surgery the next day and had no choice but to remove it ( my fault for not planning ahead and booking elsewhere) but this was the closest place to my house. Other piercing studios charge $5 for removal per piercing which is completely reasonable. Piercer was kind but I would never recommend this place to anyone. Save your money and go elsewhere. I recommend Skintricate Tattoo company.

I got my tattoo done on July 29th. I got a cherry blossom on my ribs. I asked for color and they charged me 450. It was pricey but I thought it was worth it. It’s now August 26th and it’s healed without an issue. I know it’s not gonna look exactly how it did when it was first tattooed. But it looks old and the color isn’t bright enough. For the price and time it took, I’m not very satisfied with how it looks right now. Other then that the service was great and they are nice people. I just don’t know if I’ll come back. I got my nose pierced today and it was an amazing experience. Right from the first phone call where they told me I could just walk in and so I did. I was in and out with in 30 minutes, the piercer was very calm and extremely nice. It didn’t hurt at all, it barley bled. I got my first tattoo here and it was not good at all. I gave them a picture and a print of what i wanted. Instead of using what I gave them as an outline, they just traced over it with a pencil and ruined the whole thing. What I got was in arabic so obviously they did not know what to do, instead of turning me away or asking me how I wanted it, they placed their poor stencil on my arm and said it'll look better after, like the picture i gave them, but it was completely terrible. I regret every walking into this tattoo shop, they are unprofessional and unwelcoming as well. Rushing their tattoos and doing them very bad.

Had a tattoo done in July 2020. I sent photos and descriptions of what I wanted, and they designed it for me. Even better, when I arrived, they showed me 3 different designs to choose from that had been created by their apprentices, which was a nice surprise. All the designs were beautiful, and it was comforting to see how much effort they put in to it. The only caveat is that the colours do not look like the colours I requested (in terms of shade). It still looks beautiful though, so I'm not mad.

I'm so glad I found this place-it's great. The first time I came in, I got a daith piercing which I contemplated on getting, but since I get so many migraines I thought I'd give it a shot- and I'm so glad I did. The daith piercing really works and my migraines greatly decreased. I decided to get my other ear done, also with a daith piercing, because I noticed I was still, occasionally, getting headaches but on the side without the daith piercing- so I'm fully confident this second piercing will completely eliminate my headaches/migraines. I've also come back to this place for more piercings and with a girlfriend of mine, who also got a daith piercing. I've recommended this place to a few of my friends, which whom have got some work done here. I found the staff quite friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable. I am greatly disappointed and unsatisfied with this location. I would not recommend it at all. Save your money. I got a tattoo on September 13, 2021 on my forearm, by Majha. Firstly, I paid $300 while I have another complex tattoo (writing in old english which I never had to get filled in, shown in picture 4) that was just $180. I did not want the artist to mess up my tattoo therefore, I did not argue about the price. Secondly, the tattoo is still not fully filled in after 2 weeks and it is fully healed. I have been messaging and calling the tattoo parlour since last week only to be told we will get back to you, we still have to talk to our superior and have not received any response while I have been sending updated pictures of the tattoo on instagram. I am well aware of the healing process and have not touched the tattoo unless I was applying lotion. On the first picture, a week after, the ink started to peel on the left side by itself, the parlour told me I need to stop picking at it and thats why the colour is being ruined. lol. I would mention I have not touched it and tattoos start peeling themselves by the end of the first week. Regardless to say, the right side of the tattoo did not peel as quickly and I can still see my skin within the tattoo, I can see my skin in the tattoo from almost every portion of the tattoo (not being filled in properly). Thirdly, Majha told me that in order for the tattoo to be filled, I will be charged $40 for just parts of it, resulting in another $300 or plus just to get the tattoo filled while the job was not done right the first time. I know artist that would want to fill in the tattoo right away without charging because its their work and reputation. There is no sense of pride from this location, they just want your money. I will not return to this location and will get the tattoo filled in by a trusted artist. Save your money. Go to someone you can trust and an individual that will make sure you are satisfied. I was always told, if you find a good artist stick with them and I have learned this the hard way. The reason I went to this parlour was because of the good reviews, I was clearly fooled, hope it doesn't happen to someone else. First pic is week after, September 20. Second pic is September 23. Third pic is two weeks after, September 27. Fourth picture is my other tattoo which is just for proof or reference that this is how a properly filled in tattoo should look, It also looks better than a tattoo I got two weeks ago lol. POOR!! Save your money! I got a nose piercing a week ago and the first red flag was when I called, the lady was talking over me on the phone. The second red flag was the girl who did my nose piercing had attitude and no advise compare to her other clients who were not black (seems racist to me). Thirdly my nose ring sank into my piercing and when I return to get it check the OWNER told me the girl who pierced my nose should have used a bigger nose ring and that I would have to pay to get it correct or fix. NO WAY I was about to pay for something that they did wrong.

Over charged me. Artists were very rude. Charged $350 for a 2x2 font tattoo. Since I already made a deposit I was forced to get it. Never coming back. They even beg you to write a good review. So I’m sure most of the good reviews are fake

READ: I posted my positive review before even leaving the shop. As they asked me and my wife too, it was very awkward.. We ended up coming back as the paw print my wife got on her arm, which we used her service dog to stamp.. is NOTHING. Like the real thing. She MADE UP a paw print.. and almost all of the color ink came out before it was healed. And LEFT BEHIND SCAR TISSUE. DO NOT TRUST THE OLDER WOMAN. I can not speak for the younger lady...but the older woman who works there will lie to your face and pretend to understand what you want..but probably can't understand what you're saying.... And she is BRUTAL. With a needle.

Had my first ever body piercing here and had a very pleasant experience. Firstly the place is aesthetically pleasing - not your typical tattoo parlour. Is bright and classy looking. Secondly it’s immaculately clean. The staff are super nice and extremely professional. Highly recommend!!

My friend and I came last September for tattoos and were given an apprentice. Were both disappointed with the results. Both tattoos were fading the same week. Pictures attached are how they currently look. Payed $90 for butterflies and $80 for the date. UPDATE: The artist fixed both tattoos without charge and compensated for the previous work. She is no longer an apprentice, now a full time artist and was very kind and apologetic towards us.
