I'm a bit disappointed in the shop's communication with customers. I scheduled an appointment over a month in advance and confirmed it, but when I arrived I was not on the schedule at all. (Very frustrating considering I am from the USA and was only in Toronto for a week.) They also lost the images I sent in using their website form, which was annoying. Luckily, my artist hadn't booked anything else so I was able to get my work done. I am BEYOND happy with my tattoo! I got watercolor done with Yuni and it came out even better than I could have imagined.

If your a walkin customer and the front desk receptionionist tells you it's going to be a 30min/"half an hour" wait don't believe it's going to be half an hour. They told me it was going to be half in hour, ended up waiting for over 2 1/2 hours, unprofessional. They either don't want you to go to their other competitors or the person was an idiot and couldn't manage customer's time slot.

I'm a scuba diver and a big fan of sharks. I wanted a tattoo of a shark but most designs I've seen is very masculine and scary looking you know? I found Queenie of Golden Iron through Instagram. She does a lot of marine animals and it's hard not to fall in love with her work. She highlights how they really are and how I've witnessed them myself in the water: graceful and beautiful creatures flowing through the depths of the ocean. Queenie is quick to respond, provides her artistic input but at the same time works with you to create the design you want. I would definitely recommend her and Golden Iron 100%! Thank you!

Great spot to get tattoo'd. And trust me I know both sides of that coin. I went in to see Taylor, although all the the staff were super friendly and really easy to get along with. I gave her an idea of what I wanted and let her do her thing designing it. Slapped a rose filler on my forearm and it came out way better than my what I had imagined. Great artist and amazing work, it's fully healed now so I'm really stoked on how it turned out. Would recommend Taylor since she's sick, but everyone there seems super talented!

I initially booked an appointment with Helen. I only knew that she was sick when I got to my appointment (She sent me an email earlier but I missed it because I travelled from Waterloo early in the morning) So Alex volunteered to tattoo for me even though it was already after hours so I wouldn't leave disappointed. The tattoo is AMAZING (will include a photo after it's healed) On a side note, it was pretty hard to get much information via email. Since I had to do consultation via email, it was pretty frustrating to go back and forth with the front desk staff.

Hi everyone! I had a great experience at the North York location for Golden Iron Tattoo. The space itself is large and comfortable, very clean and has lots of light. I was one of the first clients for Taylor, and she did such an amazing job on my sparrow tattoo (her own artwork). The sparrow is quite detailed for a smallish tattoo, but it turned out so beautiful thanks to her attention to detail and wicked line work. She made me feel very comfortable, and I didn't mind asking her to move the tattoo a couple times before I found a spot I liked. I would highly recommend booking an appointment with Taylor, you won't regret it :)

Golden Iron is the tattoo shop i recommend to anyone looking to get a tattoo. Ive gotten 5 tattoos from Golden Iron in the past year and plan to keep coming back for more. My most memorable visits and pieces I got done were by E.k Chan and Andrew Scott. These two artists are by far, the greatest artists in the GTA. This comes from their willingness to work patiently with their customers as well as creating a pleasant, friendly experience that makes you want to come back for more. E.k comes up with the most beautiful flash pieces of nature and animals and their style is what I find most admirable. Always looking forward to getting more pieces done by them in the near future. I have full trust in them when I have an original piece/idea in mind. Andrew's creativity is something that i greatly appreciate as he puts so much effort into creating artwork that is unique and different. This guy is so down to earth and so respectful, and his fine line skill is outstanding. Cant wait to come back for more and see these two!!!

I went it to get my first tattoo with Estelle. I loved her work on Instagram and was super excited to go in. I booked my appointment in advance and still had to wait an hour to be seen. I did not feel welcome at all. Estelle kept walking away from me between things and made no attempt to excuse herself or talk to me at all really. I had a very simple script done and the tattoo is well done but I don't think I'll be going back just because the experience was so uncomfortable. I also received no care instructions. Better customer service is needed.

I got my first tattoo here and it was a very mixed experience. I sent an email to Stella requesting for a consultation 7 days from then - when I'd be in the city, with info and pics. I didn't get a reply within the first 5 days so I call in to see if I can drop in that day or not. Talking to Stella was so confusing. She told me that yes replies take up to a week so I should be patient. Ok? I say if she's not available I can try another time to discuss it more but since I don't live in town I need to know before I get there. She replies that she is very busy for the next few months and won't really have time since she's so booked up (it was summer so understandable). I specifically found Golden Iron studios for her so I insisted that I would be patient and would call back and book for when she was free. She seemed still on the fence so she asks me what I wanted. I describe to her what I would like (a snake) and she ends up saying it seems like I know exactly what I want and anyone else could do it at the studio and it doesn't have to be her. Huh? The conversation turned into a weird argument of why she should tattoo me at all and it seemed like she was talking me out of it since she didn't wanna do it. After going back and forth I gave up and said id think about it some more then (it's my first tattoo what do I know about good tattoos?). She then does a quick 180 and insists that I still come for a consultation in 2 days when I'm in the city. ??? I ended up going the next day and just getting anyone who was available like she suggested and it was actually great. Andrew was super friendly and the staff was nice. I know customers are terrible sometimes but if you don't want to do something just say you won't. My first tattoo came out great but I've decided not to go back.

I went to Golden Iron last month to get my very first tattoo and it was such an amazing experience! My artist was Taylor, she did such beautiful work on my tattoo (flawless linework) and I couldn't be happier and more pleased with how it turned out! It was a very relaxed and calming atmosphere (plus Taylor was extremely lovely and nice). I had a lot of anxiety trying to gather the courage to walk in there because tattoo places usually intimidate me, but those fears immediately washed away by the warm and friendly environment! I was also very impressed with how clean and sterile the shop is, which is another bonus. I originally wanted script as my first tattoo, sent an email to the shop through their website to book an appointment and didn't hear anything back, probably because of how full their inbox gets. But I followed Taylor on instagram (you should go follow her, her work is beautiful), saw one of her flash pieces and instantly fell in love. I sent her a direct message and booked an appointment within a day for two weeks later. Can't wait to get my next tattoo done by Taylor!

I went here for hand tattoo! I took a chance on the apprentice. Her name is Jillian!! She's super careful and attentive. She took me through the whole process of tattooing a hand. Her shading and line work is something I adore and really took her time with it. Can you believe it's her first time? No ink bleeding through the skin. It looks better then any of my other friends with hand tattoos. Golden Iron really lucked out having her on their team???? I would recommend her to anyone. Other thing, she took in to account was how hand tattoo fade faster so she made sure her line work was strong! Seriously take a chance on her, you won't regret it!

Then when I showed up the artist said he couldn’t do it that size. He can only do 3.5 inches. Then why don’t you guys tell me in advance? And also I booked for 5pm but I had to wait 30mins. I have gotten two tattoos from Taylor and she is beyond amazing. She is professional, talented and very sincere. The first one was a larger custom piece that I wanted I’ve wanted years. She asked me to email her some ideas after an in person consultation. I will admit I was nervous not seeing the piece before but she allocated time in the appointment for modifications. She carefully took all the information I gave her and created my favorite tattoo which encompassed a combination of ideas. The second piece was a flash piece of her own drawing and once again she was very accommodating after a few back on forth messages figuring out size, placement and availability. I will continue to get tattoos from her. She is amazing, very realistic and professional. It’s amazing her skill level and how down to earth she is. 10/10 100% recommend to a friend.

After speaking with over 20 other artists, I found @mia_tattooist on Instagram and she helped with planning my tattoos and gave me the absolute BEST price in the whole city. I came to Golden Iron North York and I immediately noticed the chill vibe, how clean it was, and was served right away. Mia sat with me and took her time and showed extreme patience in creating my piece for me. Her execution, attention to detail, and final product are absolutely AMAZING! I cannot recommend her enough. I got 2 tattoos with her, my 4th experience and this was the best experience I've had from start to finish. Expect to pay tax on the tattoos, I didn't know that after I had my initial quote and discussion, but knowing that in the future I will still be coming back and ready to work with Mia again. I recommend her and this shop a million times over!!! Will be coming back regularly.

AVOID GETTING TATTOO BY YI !! unfortunately, she did a tattoo for me last year and because it was my first tattoo, after going home I realized that there were extra lines out of the borders of the moon shape I asked and some parts were incomplete! I paid 100$ for a 15 minutes tattoo which wasn't perfect!!! I emailed the Iron Love tattoo and they told me I can come and fill the incomplete parts for free. However, because I wasn't live in Toronto, arranging an appointment took a year since different reasons like she wasn't available when I was there or I wasn't able to go to toronto when she was available. Regardless of her bad work, my real dissatisfaction is that when I finally made the appointment today, she wasn't friendly at all and also charged me for 56$ for renewing the color of some parts. The funniest thing is that when you should pay to an artist directly it means she has the freedom to decide about how much to charge you but when I asked her to charge me less she made an excuse about the place laws. Moreover, She even didn't the repairing job well and changed the shape of my moon!!! I paint and I am an artist so can see the details but she was so indifferent to my satisfaction and regarded me as an stupid person who just want to get a tattoo. She showed the unhappy face when I criticized HER BAD WORK ON MY HAND indirectly!!!!!!!!!!!! JUST AVOID THE GIrl WHO is CALLED YI --NOT only she wasn't sorry for the horrible job, she showed the unhappy face because of being dissatisfied!!!!!!!!!!!! Hate this place and will not go there anymore!!!!!!

Very clean and professional place. Got a tattoo done by Judy and she was quick to respond to me and nice. She clearly knew what she was doing, and as soon as she was set up, the tattoo went smoothly. My only issue with the place is their customer service, when I walked in it took a while for anyone to notice me and come up. It was just a lot different from other studios I've been to. The atmosphere was just strange, and it probably didn't help that the place was kind of dark and small feeling. They are cash only, but they have an ATM if needed.

Upon stumbling Taylor on Instagram and hearing from a couple of friends who've gotten tattoos from her I've decided to trust her with a custom floral piece I've been dreaming of for a while. Right from the very first message she was very polite, realistic, nice and professional. The shop was very well maintained, clean and you can see the artists focusing on their craft which should be the very heart of a tattoo studio. Taylor was very lovely and answered all of my questions regarding the art of tattooing. We were having such a nice talk that I barely felt the needle on my skin. After about 2 hours of us chit-chatting the piece was finally done and I fell in love with it. Booked with Estelle for a customized tattoo fulfilled with birth elements. She also made some changes on the design as I required when I was on site. Her single needle technique gives more detailed and precised work in a compacted space but with vividness which impressed me a lot. Besides of tradition black&white single needle tattoos, Estelle can also add colours as her personal highlights. I would definitely recommend Estelle if you want something decent and not too bold. I got a tattoo from one of them a couple years ago and it didn't heal well - so when I went for my touch up, I asked if she (the artist) could fix it and she ended up making it look completely different. She does consultations on her Instagram and has even responded to my messages before. But now, years later, still hating the look of the tattoo, I asked her if there was anyway we could fix it and make it look like it was. I was even willing to pay all over again. I sent her pictures and everything, and I was left on a SEEN message. Years later, she still works there, and I still hate my "fixed tattoo". I messaged her again in November and was left on SEEN again... Overall, you better take care of your tattoo once it's initially done, don't depend on a touch up because they won't respond to you.

I had a really great first experience at Golden Iron Tattoo- North York location! The shop is spacious and clean and I had my tattoo done in a room that was nice and private. Rowan was my tattoo artist and she created an original sketch for me in advance based on pieces in portfolio that I liked and the size and shape I was looking for. When I arrived She and I discussed positioning and size and she printed of multiple size variation for me to test placement with in the mirror until I was happy. Her work is gorgeous and you can tell she really cares about getting the small details just right. I'd totally recommend booking with her. Plus she was great with dealing with a slightly anxious tattoo client (a.k.a. me) so don't worry if you're nervous because she'll put you at ease and leave you with a piece that you love!

I've seen all these great reviews and so I came here for a walk in, just to fill in (colour) a tattoo that I already had. Super quick, easy job. Charged me 120$ for less than a square inch of colour, but that would be fine if it came out well. It isn't coloured in properly, he missed the edges, and the lines of the colours aren't straight! I'm furious and incredibly disappointed. Such an easy job and he majorly messed it up. Never coming here again.

The cash only policy was somewhat inconvenient, so I hope they will improve on that. [UPDATE] Now that I have done some research on my own, the artist didn't tell me very important info about placement and style. Color tattoos so low on the ankle fade away VERY fast. So I feel cheated now that I will have to either get rid of it or get it corrected every year :/

I got a tattoo from Helen, after flipping through her art book at the Toronto tattoo convention in the summer of 2016. I was informed she had not tattooed the image before and agreed to pay to have it tattooed on me. She even suggested the area where it would be tattooed. It was only after I was tattooed that I searched her Instagram and found that it was a design that she had made and tattooed on someone in honor of their dead mother, in the same location. So I now have someone's Dead Mother tattoo on me forever, something I'm sure should have been unique and special to them. Shortly after, she removed the tattoo picture from online, probably so she could continue tattooing it on other people workout informing them of its significance. Helen Wu, you should be ashamed. You're clearly an artist that cares more about making money than the integrity of the art you provide your clients. She may be a good artist, but don't trust her ethics.

Love love love this shop and the work ethics of all of the artists here. My one and only is Selina (IG selina_ink) her flowers are the most beautiful. When I get tattooed by her it’s always relaxing, she’s got a soft hand. So if you don’t have pain tolerance, or getting your first I would highly recommend her. Her shading and flower realism is unreal. I have my left sleeve done by her and waiting to go back to get more. For parking, go to the loblaws beside it and just park to the far back. The walk is only 2 minutes.

Golden Iron is the only other shop I've gone to aside from Chronic Ink. And being a client of theirs for the past four years I believed they were my shop. I stumbled across both Greg and Lindsay on Instagram and was taken by their beautiful artwork and personality. I had the absolute honour to meet and be tattooed by Greg, where he inked a beautiful custom piece on my thigh. He is an absolutely personable, professional and funny person and treated me with utmost care. He provided me with one of the best experiences and some of the best ink I have on my body. I have been looking for a studio to my liking for so long and I am extremely happy that I have chosen Golden Iron as the to go place to get some ink going on. I've visited both locations and they are both very well kept, cosy, with plenty of waiting room, the staff is 5*, very kind and always ready to answer any questions you may have. Everyone is very professional regarding how they conduct their work but you can easily have a laid back conversation as well. Most importantly, the is absolutely no artist in here that is mediocre; everyone's work is high standard, they will be able to team you with an artist that best suit your needs regardless of what they may be. They are very upfront about their work too: if after they sit down with you to figure out what you want to get done they feel there are other artists within the studio who would be more appropriate to get your piece done for you they WILL let you know. Price wise I'm sure that people will say that it's expensive. But keep in mind this is something permanent that is going to be with you for the rest of your life, and personally whne it comes to that I believe that excellence shouldn't have a price. You get what you pay for

I got tattooed by Yuni, and the tattoo is by far the worst that I have. I've been tattooed at Chronic Ink and New Tribe and was looking to try out someplace new. The experience inside the shop was fine; there isnt anyone who works at the front desk so an artist just comes up when you walk in. I was seated pretty quickly and we went over sizing, placement etc. I dont know if the size of the tattoo has anything to do with it but as soon as I took the wrapping off of it, the lines looked like they were bleeding into each other. I didnt worry too much, but even healed, what was supposed to be black ink is a weird grayish-blue. I have tattoos from last year that look better color wise than this one does. All in all its pretty disappointing considering im already looking into ways to get it covered up.

My friend and I decided to go get some tattoos for my birthday. We walked in and our wait time was not long. We were tattooed by E.K Chan who is amazing at their work. I wanted to personalize my tattoo because it was hard to find a sketch of what I wanted and I did not want to copy another persons tattoo. E.K was super helpful with this and showed me their ideas which I loved. E.K was also super sweet and very helpful when it came to me asking about pain and things like that. For two tattoos it cost me $160 (tax included). I think this is a reasonable price as I’ve gotten a script of three words done at a different shop and it cost me over $100. My tattoos from E.K had much more detail and time put into it. Thank you golden iron I will be back.

Unprofessional. I was scheduled to get a tattoo done by Cong, but the day before my appointment the studio e-mailed me and told me she'd be unavailable. We were able to work out a new date. Then the second date rolls around and Cong cancels the morning of (three hours before) due to being sick, even though she asked me if I was coming the night before. Unfortunately her e-mail was in my junk so I drove an hour downtown for no reason! I didn't actually hear anything from Golden Iron Tattoo and I'm sure if they had sent an e-mail I would have seen it like the first time.

My tattoo looked exactly how I wanted it and she was so patient with the whole process :) Edit: As soon as I got home I could see that the lines are not clean, some colour is not in the right place and also isn't as clean as I was hoping for. I've emailed to book a touch up so hopefully I can get this tattoo looking how I wanted it. I'll update my review once I see what can be done about this. It's honestly really disappointing because I love Estelle's work and I feel like my tattoo doesnt live up to previously work I've seen turn out so well. Edit 2: I went in for the touch up yesterday Dec 13. I was booked for the end of November but it got postponed due to the artist being ill. The lines and colour were fixed, but I was blamed for scratching it when it mostly looked the way it did from day 1. Overall, it wasn't the worst experience, I just wish there was more communication from the artist to avoid some of the issues I had. The image below is the tattoo after the touch up. Edit 3: Okay, three days later and I am baffled. I have not scratched this tattoo. I have taken care of it exactly as instructed. Maybe it's just my skin or the location of the tattoo but I expected way better. As it's healing now you can even see in the picture below that the touch up lines are beside the original lines. I honestly don't know what to do about this anymore other than be grateful that I can wear my hair down and hide it.

I think my review got deleted because it was too honest and real. Got a koi and lotus tattoo done by Estelle. She was rude and I got blamed for things I shouldn’t have been. I wanted a refund because the tattoo started fading like crazy and she forgot to fill in a petal with colour and there was colour outside the lines! I was only eligible to get a refund after I let her try to touch it up but she was so disrespectful and told me to scratch off what I didn’t like about the tattoo. She left me on the table to go for a smoke break. I got my refund of course and am now IN THE PROCESS OF GETTING THIS TATTOO LASER REMOVED. It is very expensive and is not my fault so I’ve tried to contact the studio to get this fee covered but they never got back to me. It costs even more since she tried to touch it up and made it darker than before. It’s so terrible and how I was treated just topped it off. Highly do NOT recommend.

Awesome tattoo done by Calvin. Brought in my print up and he was able to deliver in every detail, including the trees and birds which I believe to be the most difficult. It was my first tattoo so I was sort of turned off when the shop was not consistent with responding to my questions, sending me to different members of the team. Although I must admit that after this slight hiccup they were on the ball and delivered.

Had my first tattoo done by Alex today as my 25 birthday gift. My design is pretty simple which is just my zodiac sign. Alex was still willing to take this case and did it perfectly. I DID NOT feel any pain but felt like someone was scratching behind your ear. It only took like 2 minutes and I totally enjoyed and was not scared at all once he started. Will definitely back to him for my next ink. Thanks Alex for this great work! ;)

Decent artwork and skills here however their customer service and people skills need some work. My fiancée just got her tattoo there and despite the lack of customer service the first visit we still enjoyed and respected our time there at the shop. However we recently went back for a small touch up .. as it is fairly common with tattoos to do so and upon completion of the touch up.. the artist decided it would be good to comment on how tattoos don’t really suit darker skin therefor “she will just have to keep coming back up for touch ups as it will fade on dark skin, tattoos better on light skin”. This shop is comprised of mainly Asian / East Asian artists and I find it completely unaceeptable in 2018 for an artist to comment on a customers skin tone and what may or may not be better regarding it. The artist also never made eye contact with her and would only speak to her from a distance and turn her head making it impossible to even know what she was saying. Prior to all of this I overheard a man walk in for a scheduled consult only to be told that the artist is sick and he can just do a consult with any artist despite his specific request for his own. I found the place very nice at first but after spending some time in there began to feel very unwelcome and wanted to leave right away.
