I have got two of my three tattoos done at the downtown location and the staff is very professional and friendly. Their tattoos are a bit costly compared to other tattoo shops but that’s the price you pay for perfection. I had an appointment scheduled for my fourth tattoo and then Covid-19 happened and they have been so friendly about rescheduling it multiple times,am currently eagerly waiting to get my fourth tattoo here. I recommend chronick ink to all my friends.

I don't usually post reviews but my experience at Chronic Ink was truly extraordinary. Firstly, I emailed asking questions about a septum piercing and had quick and helpful responses. When I finally went in for my piercing, all the staff were friendly and the space was bright and clean, immediately putting me at ease. I had Gina as my piercer and she was very sweet and professional. The septum piercing itself was so fast and honestly pain free. For anyone who's thinking about getting their septum pierced, just do it. It. Was. Painless. After I had gotten home, I had questions about my piercing so I emailed Gina and she immediately responded and made time the next day to help me out. I love my piercing so much and I know the positive vibe from Chronic Ink made it all even better. Chronic Ink has some of the best customer service I've ever had. I would definitely recommend this place for piercings or tattoos !

i went to get piercings (first time) & i chose chronic because i know i wanted a needle piercing vs a gun piercing, and i knew of the tattoo place so I decided to impulsively get them done here. one of the desk clerks was a little rude but the other one was nice and friendly, and reassured me on her first day she couldnt find the place either. my piercest was LOVELY, vee, she was amazing, talked me through everything, was patient and kind and took time to explain everything for me. i, in no way, blame the artists here, but it was so incredibly expensive. i paid in advance for, i guess the artist’s fee, but on top of that i paid $90 for my lobe jewelry (they didnt have any cheap options), and $45 for my helix, then $15 EACH for backings, and on top of that the care and taxes ended up being around $160, and i had paid $50 for the lobes and $40 for the helix in advance. bruh… i was shocked. i had read through everything and boy was i NOT prepared to be charged that much for everything. I guess it was my fault for not doing more research but ill leave this review here for other noobs who didnt know any better. get it somewhere cheaper… i have to go back and get my piercings shortened for another $15 each (x3 since i got 3 piercings, this is not complimentary and its a “must”). In my opinion, this pricing is kinda ridiculous and i probably wont go again to get a tattoo or piercing again, just because of how utterly expensive it is. my piercings are very wonderful though, and vee was amazing.

Got my first tattoo here, Chronic Ink is a great choice for newcomers to body art, very clean place and professional artists, helpful and informative if you are a newcomer to body art. Awesome atmosphere and i felt very relaxed and comfortable throughout the entire process. Great people too, everyone was kind and helpful. Decent prices for the quality of the art as well. Definitely will be coming back for any adjustments if needed and new pieces in the future. Would recommend Chronic Ink to anyone getting a tattoo for the first time or that might be looking for a new place for different art, lots of different and experienced artists from what I have seen, and was told. Jason had worked on my tattoo and was a really cool dude. He gave some really great advice on colour and placements for the tattoo i got. After it was completed, i am really pleased with how the piece looks and i feel like it will heal up good from the aftercare advice. If you aren't too knowledgeable about the aftercare like I was, he was able to explain the process clearly as was the reception at front desk too. Didn't catch their names but they were really cool and helped out a lot too.

Went in to order some jewelry (25mm plugs, gorilla glass), was told to wait for their jeweler to see if they could order them in. 20 min later someone came by to get my info and contact the jeweler about the order....this was 3 weeks ago. Went to another reputable shop and the jewelry was ordered on the spot. Overall poor customer service and the new location is just an assembly line. Can honestly say they went from one of my top recommended shops to the bottom quite fast.

I am in the process of doing a full sleeve at Chronic. They have always been great. Livia is the best. Quality work, excellent service. Good Tattoos aren't cheap and cheap tattoos aren't good. If you want the best, head over to chronic ink. By far best in the city.

I had a great time talking to her and she was very kind in guiding me through the process so I always knew what was going on, and made sure to always check in and see if I was comfortable with the pain, etc. The studio itself is very clean, and I appreciate the safety precautions they are taking during the pandemic. Had my first tattoo here. It would have been nice to be given more information on aftercare and what to do since it was the first one. I had a guest artists from Spain, Maria Ruz do mine. The whole process was a little uncomfortable. I couldnt see the design until I came in on the date to get it done, which I understand other artists do as well and is common. Her peony didnt look like the one I had sent her since I wanted more of a bulb looking one, and her before sketch was a plain flower with no shading or effort, but she assured me it would look great once she shaded it in. So I just had to trust her. She had moved my appointment once or twice to the end of her visit to Canada. It felt like this tattoo was not important and she wanted to get it out of the way so she could leave. I came home the same day so unsatisfied with it but thought maybe itll grow on me over time. It is decent, not ugly by any means. But compared to the work I've seen from her, it lacks details in how the external petals fall and its foliage. I'm sure shes not proud of it either since she didnt post it on her profile. I'm an artist myself which is why I'm disappointed I guess. I just expected more detail oriented work and love for the craft. I thought I should leave it up to the artist and trust them. Also while she tattooed me I think her needle went in too deep so there is slight bleeding of the ink in my skin, when it happened (it looked like her arm slipped) she immediately looked to see if I noticed but didnt say anything. I should have drawn my design myself and got someone to tat it for me. I wish I could get it removed and do the design over again myself since most of my forearm is taken up now. I guess I was just expecting to be in love with it but it's an okay job.

The tattoos turned out amazing and we couldn't be happier. Also, the studio looks extremely cool and nerdy and I really loved it. It was my first tattoo and I was glad that it went so well. If we ever come back to Toronto, we will for sure visit again.

My artist composed an incredible tattoo for me and his technical ability made it so that my tattoo healed better and looks better than any cheaper tattoo I ever got prior.

maddy and alex are the absolute best - alex has pierced me multiple times and always takes a lot of care to make sure i'm comfortable and to provide really good aftercare instructions. maddy downsized my piercings recently and provided excellent service and advice too! the piercings that i've gotten here have been extremely unproblematic to heal compared to ones i've gotten elsewhere and this is definitely due to the quality of their jewelry and piercing process as well as their aftercare instructions. will never go anywhere else for piercings!

For my toad, I worked with Tegan in creating what I saw in my head. She was very understanding with both understanding my idea and changing a lot of stuff with her first iteration of the toad. Overall, I am very happy with everyone at the shop (a bunch of cool people) and that this location is close to Union Station (a 20min walk!). If you have grand fantasy-dnd ideas, and maybe want a humanoid mouse/snake/crocodile/monkey in your life, Tegan is the girl for the job. Also, earlier that same day I also received a tattoo from Neil, a little Lickitung pokemon flash. He was super into it, great conversation about pokemon and everything. Listening to both the windwalker OST and Star Wars was great the whole time I was getting tattooed.

Came in for my first tattoo removal service with Sarah. She is professional, knowledgable, and answered all my questions. Coming in Sarah was there to greet me, took me into the private room were we discussed the procedure, and what to expect in regards of how it will feel. My tattoo takes up my upper back, and is about 14 years old. After cleaning the area Sarah only took 1 minute to do the entire tattoo making sure I was ok or if I needed a break, which was great as it is not a pleasant feeling. After the procedure, she gently covered the area that was treated, provided me with the after care, and instructions. I would highly recommend Chronic ink, the staff are all knowledgeable, and friendly. I will be back to continue with the removal, and plan on also getting tattooed. I will continue to update my progress. Thank you Sarah.

I came here with my friend about three weeks ago. Not the best experience here. We called in and they were available for walk-ins within the same hour - they were very accommodating in this sense. When we got there, the staff were not very friendly. One of the receptionists was actually quite rude... In terms of quality and value, I did NOT find my visit worth the price. It's been less than a month since we got tatted and my tattoo has already faded. The estimate we were given for a tattoo roughly the size of a quarter was $100-120. The tattoo we got was of that size, maybe even smaller with no details (just 6 lines lol). They took 10 minutes... Because of the size, and how simple it was we assumed it would be closer to $100 just because I've gotten a tattoo much bigger than it for that price. We were charged $120, which might have been worth the price if it was made up in service, but it was not.

Just got one of my tattoo touched up and fixed yesterday. Helen NAILED it. I drew this tattoo for myself when I was 14 and got it done for my 21st birthday in 2015. The original artist did a decent job but changed my original drawing and it just didn't turn out the way I wanted it, which was really discouraging considering I had been waiting 7 years for it. Helen did a wicked job revamping it. She puts so much thought and detail into how she reworks tattoos. I couldn't be more happy with how it turned out. If anyone ever needs a touch up, Helen's got you. Chronic Ink in general just consistently kills it. Worth the time and every penny.

As someone with a phobia of needles, it was even more stressful that I wouldn't be able to bring someone in with me due to the COVID restrictions, but as soon as I met Alex I was knew I was in good hands. They even had a jewellery consultant to educate me and help pick out the right piece, of which they had a great selection. I went in wanting a hoop and came out with this beauty, which I love even more. His 'bedside manner' throughout the piercing made it relatively painless (I thought it'd be so much worse) and he did a thorough job of explaining the aftercare. It was a dangerously easy experience, so much so that who knows how many piercings I'll have in the future, and I'll only do them at Chronic Ink!

I am sure upset right now. 1st of all we are in Stage 3 and this is the ONLY place still not doing any piercings on the face or mouth - even though I had both my tragus done here the last time services reopened. I called with a REAL problem that I'm having with a piercing and ALL I wanted was to come in and buy a longer piece of jewelry as the one put in buy piercer in Burlington is not long enough and causing possibly permanent damage to my tongue! They refuse to just let me come buy a piece of jewelry! The woman was rude, refused to explain why etc. I'll never deal with them again. No compassion for the pain I'm in. No empathy for my situation.

My experience at Chronic Ink is always great, not only is it a comfortable atmosphere but I feel they have the best Artist in Toronto. For the two scheduled sessions my Artist was Katie whom really designed my Floral sleeve just as I wanted and it looks amazing probably nothing like you've ever seen when it comes to floral sleeve work. The clear cut, crisp, intricate details in the floral design really shows quality and gives it memory which is exactly how I wanted it. Thanks, Chronic Ink, as always you guys are awesome. Out of all the tattoo shops I have visited, Chronic Ink is by far my favorite. I've had the pleasure of being tattooed by their apprentices and I am convinced my current tattooist, Selena, who is an apprentice at the moment, will be my go-to from now on. For many people, getting tattooed can be uncomfortable as you have to deal with your body going through painful changes. Having the right tattoo artist can ease that and I've personally found mine at Chronic. I am insanely comfortable and at ease there, even with the other artists that I haven't worked. It's a fun, friendly and comfortable environment. I highly recommend them and commend them on their care towards their clients.

I booked a tattoo last year in November. This got pushed out due to covid and the lockdown. However I was supposed to get it last week on Tuesday till the artist cancelled that same day. I had taken the day off. She had not bothered to see what design I wanted and them said she is not the right artist for me. Chronic ink didn't care to pair me with the right person to start with and then didn't do anything to save me as a client. I was told theanaher was going to call and to date no one has called. I had to call in to get my deposit back. What a waste of a full year.

This shop is pristine and well-kept. The tattoo removal services from Sarah are top-notch. She's very professional, as well as honest and upfront about the process. I will be looking for an artist at this shop for my next tattoo because the environment is so great.

I feel the need to bring my experience forward with Chronic Ink (specifically the location on Yonge Street, Downtown Toronto). I have heard rave reviews and have been looking forward to my trip to Toronto in hopes of being able to get a tattoo from the shop. I walked in Friday evening inquiring if they accept walk ins and the possibility of being able to get some ink done on the weekend sometime during my visit. I explained to the receptionist my ideas and she immediately turned it down. I wanted a floral piece around my wrist that extended to the side of my hand. I didn’t have anything specific in mind, didn’t show a picture, I was pretty flexible, but she from the get go said that the artists would not be comfortable doing such. I found that odd given she had no idea of what I wanted, I was expecting to speak to an artist regarding my ideas and would have easily been flexible according to what they’re comfortable with. She then said something simple would be preferable and that I can call the next day to ask if they have openings depending on artist availability. I called the next day and emailed a photo of a quote I have been wanting done since it’s straight forward. On the phone a lady working reception (not sure if it’s the same women from the night before) told me she would quote a very wide range because she couldn’t speak to an artist at the time. Quoted me $250- $400 but that she can’t see it being anywhere near $400, probably $300 max but she just wanted to play it safe. Went in, got my tattoo done by Matt. This review is not concerning the artist or his work he was very nice and professional. He went to ask the receptionist for a price for the piece and in total in came up to $400, which is crazy. The tattoo took half of an hour. To add, the tattoo I got done is significantly smaller than the reference picture I sent in, another reason why I don’t understand how it justifies charging $400 when the tattoo was MUCH smaller than what I sent in as a reference. I have 13 tattoos, I understand the expenses and I’ve never argued the cost but I just don’t see how it is reasonable to charge that amount for a piece that took 30 minutes. Additionally, the one receptionist in question from the start was not welcoming and quite rude. I was looking forward to this and honestly I’m disappointed with the poor attitude and my experience.

Great place for making your tattoo! Firstly, the customer service was good. People is warm and willing to help you. They offer you with information in regards of how to clean and maintain the tattoo, as well as giving you the aftercare and the soup to clean it. Secondly, the environment is awesome, calm, relax. Thirdly and more importantly, the tattoo artists. Great people! I made my tattoo with November, great artists! At the time I am writing this review she is an apprentice, however her job was great and very clean! We both sit down and talked about it and then she made it in a blink of an eye! She was very warm and open, good artists willing to help and to do her passion properly. It was a pleasure to get my tattoo there and I will recommended.

Came in for a walk in tattoo with Alex a couple of weeks ago. He did such a great job, very straight and clean lines. It looks like someone stamped my arm. It healed perfectly. Would recommend Alex for anyone looking into getting a tattoo. He’s also very friendly. The staff at the front desk are also super welcoming. This is my second tattoo from artists at chronic ink and they never fail to impress!

Great place to get a custom tattoo! The artists here are all professionals and work with their clients towards designing the piece that they want! Ive had both my sleeves done by Neil at the Gerard location and he has been a great guy to work with, very flexible and diligent in making sure the design idea i had came to fruition. My girlfriend also got a tattoo done by Christine at the Eglinton location and she definitely enjoyed her experience as well. These folks are personable and capable, and very flexible. Definitely recommend if youre looking for a cutting edge piece!

I've had one tattoo done and one piercing done at this location now and both times I've received excellent service from all the staff here. My tattoo was done by Lynsey and she's the sweetest. She made sure I understood all the steps and gave me detailed aftercare instructions. I got my navel pierced by Kaitlyn and she made the whole piercing process very comfortable. Overall, the store is very clean and the service you receive here is excellent. Price may be a little higher than other places, but to me it is worth it if it means a beautiful tattoo and piercing that will heal nicely.

Overall my experience was mixed. I was a walk-in for two lobe piercings (second hole with a stud — picture attached) and upon my arrival I was greeted nicely by the person at the front desk. She explained to me the paperwork, pricing (each lobe is $25), and showed me the earrings in different price ranges (starting at $35 and up) that the piercings would be done with. Pretty good selection and styles. The woman also provided me with a granola bar since I had eaten just outside of the 3 hour timeframe they recommend. I thought that was nice so I didn’t have to leave and come back. The downside to my visit was the lack of communication between the piercer and the front desk. I had waited 50 minutes overall in an empty room with no other piercing walk-ins just to find out coincidentally after another walk-in came and asked about timing, for which a second receptionist said the piercer had left on a break and no one at the desk had his phone number. The original woman who greeted me came back and said she would text him. There was also no manager at this location at the time (~6:15pm). To be very honest I was just about to leave when Jose (hopefully I’m spelling his name correctly) the gentleman that did my piercings came over to introduce himself. I explained that I was fairly unhappy but I understood that sometimes a break is necessary, especially in this industry. He apologized and was very calm and welcoming, which is the only reason that I ended up staying. My actual physical piercing experience was great, we chatted about placement and jewelry sizing for my ears and the process was quick and smooth. Jose made the markings, measured for accuracy, and I was happy with the final outcome. I would recommend going back but be prepared to possibly wait there for an hour and don’t be afraid to ask the front desk questions if you feel something is wrong or taking longer than usual.

From the moment I called to book and appointment and describe what I wanted, to going into the shop and then getting my tattoo, the staff were so welcoming and wonderful and made me feel safe, welcome, and at ease. They were able to provide me with an enclosed private space while getting my tattoo done which made me feel a lot more at ease and comfortable with the whole experience. Tattoo turned out okay. Other than that the experience at this location was disappointing when I was really looking forward to it... I was trying my best to be in high spirits, but my artist was moping around as if she didn’t want to be there. Never cracked a smile or a compliment or even gave her opinion on the tattoo, placements, size etc. I felt very very rushed. I ended up not being happy with the size but agreed to it because I felt so awkward. I was trying to crack jokes and be comfortable but she made me feel like I was wasting her time being there. As a fellow creative myself, I work in makeup, and it’s always my number one priority to make sure the client feels safe, comfortable, happy, and excited about what they’re receiving and are given feedback and recommendations, and overall just treated as if they actually exist and aren’t just a blank canvas. I know it’s common among tattoo artists to have an intimidating persona, but this just made me feel so uncomfortable and out of place. I was very close to just leaving before she did anything because of the way she was acting towards me but I did it anyway. Front desk girl who checked me out was very kind though. But I Won’t be back to this location, will probably go back to Ink and Water on bloor for more tats.

Once in the door, everything was amazing. My artist was helpful and communicative, place had a great atmosphere, including offering me and my girlfriend tea or coffee, and they made getting my first tattoo a great experience, it catn't out stunning. Before getting there, things were rough... My first artist got sick which isn't their fault but I didn't find out until an hour before my time, so I had a friend coming in to go with me who was already on hey way. They gave me to someone more expensive, but who had less experience in this kind of tattoo, and both offered the same time quote. They then tried to say the previous artist would have taken longer, but this was before I shrunk the size of it, which they noticed after I said it. Once I was set up with him, as with the previous artist, they sent out a Google calendar invite. It was then cancelled a day or two later, which freaked me out. When called I was told they weren't sure but that maybe the artist cancelled the event. They did say it was still on though. Day before I get a confirmation text saying the wrong artist, and 20 minutes before they closed another asking me to change to a time slot an hour and a half earlier. I didn't see it till they were closed, and worried with the past issues they might have just changed it anyway (I am admittedly an anxious person), but I responded by text and voice mail that I couldn't change it as my girlfriend had set that time side to go with me and couldn't go earlier. In the end it wasn't changed however and I got there. I am not sure if I just fell victim to a lot of bad luck, but with it being my first tattoo, it left me with a bit of a sour taste in my mouth. But, benefit of the doubt, plus an amazing experience after getting there, has me leaning to a higher rating.

I was lucky enough to claim a free apprentice tattoo from Janet. The piece came out exactly as I hoped it would, she killed it and it’s clear that the quality is carried throughout at Chronic Ink. Janet may still be in her apprentice stage of her career but I have no doubt she’ll become an amazing full time tattoo artist. The environment was friendly, clean and welcoming. If you’re looking for quality, great value and professionalism; this is the place to go.

I had a great experience being pierced here and getting a tattoo. The booking and consultation went well and I had no delays with my artist. There is some serious talent here that I'd love to work with in the future! That being said, I've docked a star because the pricing feels a bit off for walk-ins and smaller tattoos. I ended up paying more than I was quoted which is fine as it's still beautiful and well done, but in my experience there is more competitive pricing out there at the same quality and experience levels. A friend of mine ended up paying almost $300 for a walk-in that took only about an hour. If you have custom pieces you want a specific artist to create, Chronic is definitely worth your money. Otherwise, you can find more competitive pricing elsewhere.

As soon as I walked in, I was feeling welcome from the staff at the front desk. I had an appointment with a guest artist (Isabel Chong) and her work was phenomenal. While I was being inked, several staff members came over to watch, all looking thoroughly impressed, and I had a couple of good conversations with some of them. The place is clean, bright, and friendly. The only downside is the hike up the stairs - which I can see being a bit problematic for people with bad backs and such. Full arm wrap started around 2:30pm and was done by 8:15!

Went in as a walk-in for a cartilage piercing and was pleasantly surprised by both the cleanliness and friendliness of the studio and receptionist. I asked for any availability and was told that it wouldn't be too long at all, which was great. Fast forward to around an hour of waiting and little to no communication of how much longer, I asked to be taken back to at least take a look at the jewellery options (which was very underwhelming in selection/price range). Around half an hour after this I then asked again how much longer it would take and was told that the current piercing was taking longer than expected and that they had no way of finding out how much longer the wait would be since the piercers door was closed. I understand that there is risk in a walk-in appointment, however I would have been happy to come back at a later time (as customers who came in after me were told) or would have understood if there was no availability. Instead, I sat waiting for almost an hour and a half and unfortunately ended up leaving. All in all, very disappointed in the communication between the piercers, the receptionist and the client and feel as though this would have been a great experience otherwise.

I loved every part of my experience with Chronic Ink. The shop was clean and safety measures against COVID-19 were taken to protect both clients and employees. My tattoo artist Selena Wong was AMAZING! Very patient with all my inquiries and no matter how many times I altered the design she was happy to help and customize the design to my liking. Even during my session she took all the time needed for me to be comfortable with the size and placement of my tattoo and made my first tattoo experience extremely pleasant! For my first tattoo I was all sorts of apprehensive! However Matt, my tattooist, did an AMAZING job keeping things chill while the people at the front checked in with me occasionally and offered sugary snacks and water. Leading up to the big day service was wonderful. When I walked in interested in getting a tattoo I was swiftly set up with a consultation and the dude helping me found the perfect tattooist for what I was looking for (Matt). When I had to reschedule twice, they were very tolerant and accommodating! When Matt reached out to me and we got to conceptualizing the design, he was very open to comments and criticism, and because of it, gave me a great tattoo. Overall, I think this was one of the best first tattoo experiences I could have had, and I owe it to Chronic Ink! Will be coming back.

If you're a dark skinned person don't go to this studio. I went to get a simple 2x2 tattoo a while back and not only was it extremely expensive ($300) the tattoo scabbed so bad because the area was overworked. I later learned that a lot of tattoo artists tend to push harder on darker skin thinking that the ink wont take and now I'm left with a patchy/blurry tattoo that I have to get covered up. One line is blurry and its very patchy because the ink leaked into my skin. I went to a different studio uptown, run by black women, and got two tattoos that turned out so much better for the same price...

SUPER impressed by my experience at Chronic Ink's downtown (Yonge st.) location. I went in without an appointment looking to get a couple of ear piercings done (rook and helix). The staff were very friendly and got me going with the required paperwork quickly, as well as selecting my jewelry. Even though the place was busy (and this was a mid-day, during the week!) I did not feel neglected. The vibes throughout my entire visit were great. The individual who pierced my ears (Gina) was SUPER lovely. Such a sweet lady but so professional too. She was also quick and thorough answering emails when I had some clarification questions about piercing aftercare. Overall, cannot recommend Chronic Ink enough. The people, atmosphere, and overall experience were fantastic. The sterilization procedures (because I did check this before getting my piercing done!) are also exceptional. Super impressed and so glad this is where I decided to get my piercings done!

Great experience getting my first tattoo here. Booking an appointment was easy since they were quick to reply and kept me informed during the whole process. On the day of they had to push my appointment back 2 hrs because of a change in design from the client before me but they called ahead of time to give me a heads up. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the person at the front desk who kept me updated on timing until my artist was ready. The process was smooth, clear and my tattoo is healing nicely now. The place was clean, nicely decorated and very lively .

Came in on August 20th to start my half-sleeve. Shop was well-kept and nicely greeted by the receptionists. My artist was Matt Rodway. Matt was extremely personable, attentive, professional, and above-all extremely talented. The tattoo turned out to be 100x better than expected. He was also able to finish a ton of work in just 4.5 hours. I can’t wait to complete my final session, and eventually get more tattoos from Chronic Ink and Matt! Neil from the Gerrard location was absolutely amazing at making my new tattoo perfect! Shading is absolutely stunning , perfect depth with shading, and beyond amazing line work. Maddy was super clear in communicating with me every step of the way, making sure I was comfy and feeling good about the process at all times. From the initial consultation to the big day (today) I felt comfortable, welcomed and treated with the greatest respect. Ethan was my tattoo artist, and I have got to give him the biggest love for his positive and calming energy for a novice like myself. He took the time to adjust certain aspects of my tattoo to ensure I was happy with its style and placement. His ability to work within my comfort zone, provided a relaxing experience, to the point that I actually drifted off as he was tattooing my arm!! Who knew tattooing could be a therapeutic experience! lol! He had awesome control and focus and his lettering style was incredibly detailed, clean and accurate. I literally cried after he finished my tattoo, not just because I was overjoyed with the final result, but because he provided me with one of the best experiences of my life. Thank you Ethan!! I couldn’t have asked for a better artist, he was patient, taking the time to make sure the size and placement of the tattoo worked for me. I went to get a tattoo about a month ago. I had an okay experience. The people at the front desk were great and were extremely helpful the whole time. They were friendly and helped any questions I had. The main reason I was not fully satisfied was because of the artist. I felt very judged for the tattoo location I had picked and was frustrated due to the fact that the size and location of the tattoo had already been discussed over email before the appointment. I felt that maybe a different artist could have been recommended to me beforehand, one that would be more comfortable completing my tattoo, instead of finding out at the time of the appointment. I also felt she was a little condescending (kept mentioning me being young) and I felt that I was the one working towards a compromised tattoo idea rather than us working together. I got the impression I was wasting their time and considering I was paying for their time to work with me on this tattoo (with no refund), I felt a little judged and unwelcome. However, this is all personal and based on customer service rather than art ability. I am sure they are great at their artwork and they did ask the front desk to connect me with a more suitable artist which I appreciated (just would have preferred it to be beforehand).

I've been following Chronic Ink for about 10 years. They're artists are all amazing. I had a rough experience at their Midtown location but the Gerard location was awesome, the energy was positive and everyone was warm, welcoming and funny, which really helped me to relax. My first tattoo was done by Neil and I couldn't be happier!! He took my very general idea and made an absolutely breathtaking piece of art and I'm honoured to have it on my body. On the day of my tattoo appointment Neil took the time to get details of what I wanted changed or adjusted, he made several stencils, tweaked the placement of the animals. He did this several times before he even began to actually tattoo. The photos are what we able to do in one 4 hour session. I have a skin condition and have struggled with embracing my body, with the help of Neil now every time I look at my leg, I smile. LOVE IT!!

I'm currently in the process of getting a thigh piece done by Marilyn, though I will likely return to her in the future to complete a full leg because I love being in pain (joking - but not about getting the whole leg done by Marilyn). From start to finish: CONSULT: In early 2016 I was interested in getting a piece from Marilyn so I called the shop for a consult over the phone, where I talked to Whitney. She remembered providing a consult to me (for another piece) in-person half a year prior! I'm still in awe with Whitney's superior customer service skills. Marilyn was out of the shop at the time so Whitney asked if she could call me back after speaking to Marilyn about my idea. Less than an hour later, I got a call back from Whitney that Marilyn green-lighted the idea. I then dropped by the Markham shop a couple days later to place my deposit where I wasn't met with the friendliest front desk personnel. He was rude, sighed a lot, and rolled his eyes at my idea...that review was written for already, so that won't be part of my current review. For me, that was an isolated negative experience out of my whole experience here. THE BUFFER: I initially booked the appointments almost a year in advance (she had a 10-11 month wait list), but life happens and I ended up with 3 jobs at one point, so I rescheduled my appointments with Marilyn, about 4-6 months before my appointments were supposed to happen. THE APPOINTMENT: A week before my appointment, I get an e-mail from Marilyn with her sketch for my thigh, which was beautiful! I asked for one tweak, which she did. I also got text messages from the shop to confirm my appointment a couple days prior. On the day of my first appointment, I arrived about 15 minutes late but notified the shop I'd likely be tardy through phone and text when I was getting those confirmation texts. We did a fitting of how big the piece will actually be on me and then she left to create the stencil. About 20 minutes later, the stencil is applied and it fit exactly how I wanted it to (and I'm nitpicky AF when finding perfect placement). She then freehanded some elements and started tattooing. Teddy, their VJ, was there that day and my leg ended up getting featured on CI's Instagram, which was pretty cool. They also supplied me bottled water when I was thirsty...a nice touch. I sat for 4 hours for my first appointment, with a small break and lunch in between. She ended up finishing the line work, pictured below. I have one more session to finish my piece (3 full sessions so far). Overall, the tattoo experience has been pleasant. The thigh is one of my most painful spots to get tattooed, but Marilyn made the stay enjoyable. Marilyn's tattooing 10/10. Marilyn's humour 11/10.

I am currently getting a half sleeve done and so far it has been an amazing experience for me. From the beginning process, the front desk staff has been extremely friendly and helpful, answering any questions I had about the process, ensuring that I am comfortable with everything during the process. If you are unsure of what artist to use, don't worry the front desk individuals are very knowledgeable about techniques and different artist styles, so they will lead you to an artist who will match your concept the best. My artist, Alex Rodway, took his time to learn about my concept, put his own artistic touch on the final concept and made any adjustments as needed. His artwork is FANTASTIC and I was very happy with the final design. I've gone through two sessions so far, and the line work + coloring has been beautifully done. I am very excited for the finished product and have full confidence that Alex will do an amazing job. The tattoo artists are also very companionable and ensure you feel comfortable during the process. I would highly recommend this place to anybody looking to get a first tattoo, small tattoo, cover-up or to get a large piece like I am. One side note is that while this place might be more expensive than others, it is absolutely worth the cost since the quality of work is exceptional. If you get a chance, walk in for a consultation and I am positive you won't be disappointed with the professionalism you experience. Also since these artists are in such high demand, you might need to wait 6+ months for an appointment (depending on size of tattoo of course - smaller ones you will get in a lot faster), but there is a cancellation wait list you can take advantage of. Just as a friend recommended for me to come here, I will recommend any of my friends/family to do the same if they want to get a tattoo. 10/10 for quality, professionalism, atmosphere and superb customer service.

I was nervous, since I had never gotten tattooed before, but the nerves dissipated as soon as the appointment started. Matt walked me through everything, and the process of finalizing the design felt like a genuine collaboration. The tattoo turned out incredible, better than anything I could've imagined. I'd heard that the "experience" of getting tattooed can be just as memorable as the tattoo itself; this was certainly my case. Jassy commited to a virtual consult with me 3x now on a scheduled date and time and did not follow through once with contacting me. The first time she said her client was running late. Fine. She rescheduled a second time and did not call again. She did not follow up to apologize and attempt to accommodate me. I contacted her again today to ask her why I have not received a follow up from her and she said she would call me at 7pm. It is now 730pm and she has not contacted me. So incredibly unprofessional and disrespectful of a potential client's time and money, especially when they are waiting by their phones. I no longer have trust in her word. I would never trust her to permanently tattoo my eyebrows. Highly disappointed. Work on your professionalism and common courtesy.

This place has some great tattoo artists BUT on the whole I feel this place is highly overrated. Really overpriced and not a welcoming environment. At the Gerrard St location, I felt as if they just wanted to pump people through as much as possible for the money without even giving honest feedback about your tattoo design and sharing ideas of what would look best and age best. Only a good place to go if you are willing to wait and PAY for their best artists.

Had a chest tattoo done by Neil about 3 months ago. I was recommended Neil by the staff at the studio and I’m glad that they brought me to him. Aside from his fantastic artistic skills, Neil understood the subject matter of my idea extremely well and was able to translate it to a beautiful design on the spot. I had some concerns about how the tattoo would appear on my skin colour, but Neil was clearly experienced and was able to explain to me what I could expect the design would look like on my skin in the end – and he was right about it. Neil and the rest of the team at Chronic Ink were very friendly and easy to work with. Neil is very creative, and I’d recommend him to anybody looking for an original design.

The whole experience was ok. The artist was pleasant. The biggest issue I had was the price. I had 2 ankle flag tattoos with colour for $500 plus tax. The process was a little over 2 hours with actual tattooing about 1.5 hours. That’s an extremely steep hourly rate. Way too much really.
