I love this place and the staff so much that I can't find words to explain how amazing they are. I've got 3 pieces by two artist and I've got more planning to do with them all. I also love the display and set up that gives you hours of nerd browsing for your pleasure. Lots of toys, comics and collectables. You'll never regret your visit or the money you spend. There is natural talent and passion in the artist.

My friend and I came here after doing some research looking to get our first tattoos. We both really liked Jodie's style and brought our concepts to her in a consultation after just walking in one day to see if we could set one up. She was extremely open to our ideas, asked questions about what kind of things we liked, and discussed placement. She also gave her input on things she thought could make it even better. We never felt judged or like she wasn't interested in helping us get something cool. The deposit was fair and the actual design she did for each of us really reflected the care and talent she puts into her work. She also showed a lot of integrity when a delay came up in my design and she called to let me know that she didn't want to rush it and asked if we could postpone by a couple of days. The final art for both of us was more than we could have hoped for! The actual sessions were friendly, comfortable, and quick! Jodie has a steady hand and her lines are confident and her shading smooth. A number of people have complimented my large chest piece and how bold and clean the lines are! My friend's piece is readable and beautiful. I can't wait to get the shading finished on my chest piece in May! Overall, a great shop and a top-notch experience! Everyone was friendly, funny, professional, and the shop is kept clean even as they are in the process of moving spaces. I would definitely recommend coming here for any work you're looking to get done.

I can't say enough great things about Chris and the entire staff at Shades of Grey. They are all very friendly and welcoming. The shop has a great relaxed vibe. I contacted Chris with a rough concept of what I was thinking of and he instantly dove into it. We talked a bit about what I was thinking of and he turned my scattered ideas into an amazing custom piece. He really developed it a lot further than I could have imagined. Chris is an exceptional artist; his work is clean and beautiful. Chris was extremely professional and kind throughout the entire process. He took the time to answer all my questions and make me feel comfortable. It's easy to see he takes great pride in his craft.

I'm a 80's/modern gijoe collector. They have a great selection of the 80's vintage and the prices are damn reasonable. Last time I was there they had a box of parts that helped me with some of my incomplete pieces. Staff were chill and easy to talk to. I'd go more often if I didn't live so far out of town.

Awesome atmosphere & artists! I went in for a simple script tattoo and booked another session for a back piece. I’m a pretty picky person and Chris was able to instantly identify with what I wanted and the ideas that I had. The 2 tattoos that I got from him were my first ever and meant a lot and he did an amazing job. He made me feel comfortable and made sure I was aware of everything along the way. Would recommend this shop and all their artists.

I got my hand tattooed by chris at shades of grey and it was by far the best tattoo expierience i've ever had. He really pays attention to detail and my tattoo turned out super clean. He also acknowledged my opinions and any changes that i wanted to make when it came to drawing it up. I also liked how inviting and friendly everyone was at the shop. The atmosphere is super chill. 10/10 would go again and would highly reccomend it to anyone looking to get some art work done.

He was very friendly, the parlour was clean and I enjoyed looking around at all the things like comics, action figures, etc. while I waited. Nothing but disgusted! "Addox" doesn't have the decency to cancel our appointment face to face she has her boyfriend come down to do it...after numerous messages between us both regarding the tattoo and her knowing full well the situation and reason for the tat. Leaving my child who's fighting for her life with cancer (reason for the tattoo) to come down and discuss and get what route we we're going to take. No respect, no morals, no decency..amazed shades of grey would even hire an individual like this! If your not into doing a tat for a client have the decency to say so in the first place!

The crew here are fantastic. I got my tattoo while shades of grey were traveling to comic expos and needed a touch up. Chris does wonderful work and works with you to help get the piece you want. I would definitely recommend this shop for anyone looking for some ink. The shop has a very good selection on comics old and new as well as some great collectors toys.

Christopher did lovely work on my new sternum tattoo. Everyone at the shop was professional and courteous. Hourly rates were more than reasonable. I should note that vegan inks are available, for those who want them. Consultations that I had with Chris were very productive. My ideas were taken seriously, and built upon based on experience and expertise. I’m immensely appreciative of his professionalism, especially considering placement of the tattoo. The tattoo studio space itself is clean, well-maintained, and spacious enough that you don’t feel overly crowded when other clients are in the studio at the same time. What I liked most about getting work done here is that it didn’t feel at all pretentious, unlike some other studios that I’ve visited. Would recommend to others!

Shades of Grey is absolutely outstanding! I've recently been getting a leg piece done by Christopher McPherson (IG: @boxcar_ronin) at Shades of Grey, and I've honestly had the best experience. When I first came in to book a consultation Christopher spoke to me immediately. I told him the concept behind the piece I wanted done and we bounced ideas and images back and forth until we had a solid idea and an appointment date booked. Randomly, I bumped into him grabbing a bite to eat the night before the tattoo date, and a minute of conversation put my built up worries to rest. The following day Christopher laid out the stencil, started the gun, and put in some solid hours of work. At our next session Christopher brought some creative ideas forward that seriously improved the design of the tattoo. As he sketched on me with markers for some time, I imagined how the sensation of each line would soon become much more intense, and I felt confident in the image he created when finished. Christopher has put in some solid hours of work since then, always making me feel at home and comfortable while at the shop. Healing takes time, and I'm more than excited to see the finished piece in the weeks to come. Went for my first tattoo of a small piece walk in, Chris took me in, asked me about what I want and where I want it, then showed me a similar piece he’s done before which looked great. Overall appointment took about 25-30min, price was more than fair and you get exactly what you pay for. Tattoo turned out great before, during and after healing. Very happy with the results and highly recommend.

I had an awesome experience with my artist Mac Plant. He was great to work with, especially for bouncing ideas back and forth. It was my first tattoo, and on top of that I'm super picky, so it was a relief to have back and forth with someone as patient as Mac is. I had contacted Shades of Grey, in the Fall of 2020, to inquire about getting a tattoo there. I also indicated the type of tattoo that I was interested in. They were, initially, prompt in getting back to me, were supportive about the process, and stated that they simply needed some sort of reference on the parameters and dimensions (which I then gave to them) for the tattoo, while adding that they would relay this to their artists who, in turn, would get back to me if interested. I waited for a few weeks, but did not receive any further feedback. I figured that they were backed-up with business. Shortly after that, due to an escalation of the COVID-19 pandemic in the province around the holiday season, tattoo parlours were temporarily closed. So, I understood that this was a reasonable basis for their not reaching out at that time. In any case, tattoo parlours have been allowed to be open again for months now and, nearly a half a year after my initial inquiry, I have yet to hear anything further from Shades of Grey. If they weren’t interested in completing the tattoo (although I don’t know why) then that is their right as an operation. Still, they could have, at the very least, extended the professional courtesy of informing me of this. Fortunately, I was able to book at another establishment without issue.
