I thoroughly enjoyed the treatment I got at Black Gold Tattoo Co. My artist was Ashley and she did amazingly well! Considering that this was my first tattoo, I was well informed and any questions I had were answered. I also had a tattoo done by a rising star at Black Gold, the apprentice Vanessa! She was simply amazing and did exactly what I wanted, with a couple twists of her own style (approved by me of course). All in all, I would recommend this tattoo shop for anyone's tattoo needs!

I got my tattoo a few years back and realized I never did review this amazing place. Having a Kidney Transplant in 2015 I wanted to get some ink to commemorate the event. Granted having a transplant has it's drawbacks; Immunosuppression meant I needed to find a place with exceptional and over the top sanitation. I mean Operating Room, Hospital level cleanliness. Originally I went to Drangon FX in WEM and had initially met Sasha there. She was very attentive to my needs and wanted to help me in every way possible. Due to some setbacks I was unable to get my tattoo at the time I wanted. Fast forward and when I went to book my appointment I had heard she left and joined Black Gold Tattoo. No way was I going to switch an artist at this point. I reached out to Black Gold and got a hold of her. We continued the planning process and booked a date. She went above and beyond meeting my medical needs and creating the perfect piece for my transplant. The shop exceeded my expectations for sanitation and cleanliness as well. The level of service and care Sasha and the team at Black Gold provided left quite an impression on me. I have recommend her to everyone I know since that day. I only hope they actually did go see her. I'm planning my next piece and will definitely be coming to see her again.

Called to get a specific tattoo I emailed pictures and wrote a lengthy email explaining what I wanted. Called talked to someone on the phone. Waited 2 weeks to get a consultation with the artist they recommended. I was told this guy would be the best choice to do what I wanted. When I arrived for the consultation the artist had no idea who I was or what I wanted to get done. I assumed since I had already sent multiple emails and photos of what I wanted he might have been prepared for the consultation meeting. Sadly he was not. I then took the time to do what Black Gold should have and showed the artist what I was thinking about getting and pulled up the sent emails on my cell phone. Immediately upon showing the artist my tattoo idea he flat out told me NO! He would not be willing to do the tattoo not his style. I respective artists honesty about it not being up hIs ally or whatever however, I did not appreciate waiting two weeks to see this guy and driving two hours to be told something that I could have been told on the phone. If they would have showed the artist my emails before I took my time to go there. Also the artist basically acted as if I should have know this was not his style of tattoo. Then when I asked him if he knew any other artist that would tattoo what I wanted and he said no one would do it. He said it was to plain and didn’t have enough content / meaning. The funny part is he has know idea what this tattoo means to me and didn’t bother to even ask. The tattoo was my own design that was basic but had a lot of meaning to me. Basically overall terrible experience... very unprofessional, wasted my time, and insulted my ideas and values all in one interaction !

Waste of time. Showed the guy at the front desk what I wanted. book a consultation a week in advance. Went to meet with the Artist only to be told he doesn't do that type of Tattoo. Wanted me to come back in 2 weeks for another consultation.

Allan designed a sleeve for me. It is absolutely beautiful! The shading he does is an amazing play between dark & light, the roses practically pop off my arm! Strangers are constantly telling me they've never seen such beautiful roses... But there's SO MUCH MORE to my sleeve and I could not be more proud to display his art on my body! Absolutely love it! This shop is spotless, and the customer service is top notch! I will be back!

Paid a deposit $100 right after my consultation in June for a booking in September. When I called in August to confirm the date, I was told there was no booking ever made. I asked owner to look at the camera footage to witness the money transaction, was informed that the cameras only keep records for 2 months. Was also told that the tattoo artist doesn’t book that far in advance which was quite a different conversation that was had at the time of booking. The front desk clerk and artist were present for this transaction. I was also told afterwards that they follow a thorough process of documentation and I would’ve signed a deposit record, which wasn’t done with me in June. Out $100 now. Ensure you get a record of deposit purchase :(

I called on Monday and had an appointment by Thursday because they truly appreciated my business and did their best to make my tough schedule work. This shop was extremely clean and well set up. I first started my experience with Leah over email and then on the phone and she was so sweet and extremely helpful. I was looking for something more soft and realistic and she suggested Steve and I am so glad she did! This guy is amazing at what he does and really made my time there comfortable and enjoyable. I met for a consultation with Jess Alther and she didn't even have the professionalism to take me to her table she actually came out into the lobby and said 'what do you want'. I had to take off my shirt in the LOBBY and show her where I wanted the tattoo on my back. I wanted pastel morning cloud scene on my back, and she rolled her eyes and said' that's not my style' and turned up her nose at me. I was floored by the unprofessional attitude and how arrogant she was. If you want a positive experience I don't recommend: the front door was blocked by 4 employees smoking, the artist was unbelievably unprofessional and rude. There are way better shops in the city than this one.

Just got a tattoo from Amber and did she ever nail it. It’s the second one she has done for me, both have turned out awesome. She did a Chinese Fu Dog for me. She says it’s not her specialty but It very well could be. The design was spot on and the application was incredible. Very intricate with really crisp, clean lines. I Highly recommend her. I went in to get my first tattoo, not knowing much about any of the artists in town, only by reading reviews online and checking out some of the artists work. I came across Black Gold from the favourable online rating and the fantastic collection of art work from all of the artists. I ended up choosing Romeo, whose artistic style fit the bill of what I was looking for. I must say he did an absolutely helluva job on my tattoo and I couldn't be more impressed! Not to mention he was chill and easy to talk to throughout the whole process! It seemed that not only Romeo, but all of the artists at Black Gold are some of the finest artists Edmonton offers and I would highly recommend the shop to anyone looking for some ink. I am pleased to say that I will be going back anytime I need some more ink as I found my new go to shop!

I had some script work done by John or "Romeo script" and the work done was absolutely amazing. The shop is extremely clean and welcoming. They make sure that you you're 150% happy with their sketches before tattooing it on you (he had to redraw mine twice hehe). Extremely understanding and nice. They make sure you are totally knowledgable in after care, etc. I would (and do) reccomend this shop to anyone and everyone!!! Will definitely be back.

Super upset about a tattoo that wasn’t even finished by Jess and cost me way too much money. Almost embarrassed that they charged me $1600 plus when it’s so cheaply done. She also charged me for supplies? Super disappointed by the lack of professionalism. Found an awesome artist and will never go back.

Highly recommend Steve the guy's an artist we had a couple templates that we put on and we adjusted some things but at the end of the day we got it done exactly how I wanted and even better I'm definitely going back and everybody that see my tattoo says they're going to Steve.
