ETA: And when they read this review a few hours after it was posted, they emailed me to say that they would not help me unless I took photos and the review down. Buyer beware. I had a Juki 1341 LS shipped to me from Dixie to the United States. First mistake I made was paying via wire transfer when it says on the website that they take Paypal which comes with excellent purchase protection. The wire transfer basically makes the money disappear, there is no protection from the credit card company or the bank at all. Do not wire this business your money. They also used a 3rd party clearing house, ClearIt, to get the boxes through customs, which increases the chances of the boxes and items inside getting dropped, dinged, and damaged. Boxes, not a pallet. An industrial sewing machine should be shipped on a pallet to minimize damage. I paid $225 for shipping. The machine head arrived very poorly packaged. It had been thrown in a box with no protection save a few broken pieces of styrofoam packaging. It was almost like they knew that since I wired the money and could not do much of anything to get the money back besides file a shipping claim and trust in their promise of good customer service, they got off with taking my money. I immediately emailed Samira at Dixie photos of the broken machine (tension assembly had snapped off and the turn wheel was bent), the email went unanswered. The table was not the table the photos on the site showed. When I took the machine head to my local trusted shop, their inspection showed that the machine had not been serviced before selling. The estimate was an additional $400 to repair to start for parts and labor. More would potentially need to be paid out to get a functioning machine. I emailed Samira again, got a response to call Mo, supposedly the owner of the shop. When I did call Mo, I got a 15 minute tirade where I was dismissed and talked over repeatedly when trying to describe the issue. His solution? "You should have refused delivery." Yep, he blamed me for the problem because I did not stand at the door and refuse to let UPS give me a damaged box that the *shipper* had not designated as a package that needed a signature to deliver. The owner of the shop blamed the customer for receiving a damaged box. He also said that repairing sewing machines in America was too expensive and that he had parts for me for $100 but "too bad you can't get here." I was speechless. I don't want parts, I want to return the machine. An email from Samira then said that I did not purchase shipping insurance. Again, that's not on me. Good business makes that all clear, and shipping damage because of insufficient packaging is not on the customer for not purchasing insurance. Do not recommend at all. Take your business somewhere else. I am now going to file a complaint with the BBB, with the Toronto Region Board of Trade, work on getting a claim filed with UPS without Dixie Tailoring's help, and make complaints on all social media channels that Dixie participates in. There's no excuse for shoddy and dishonest business practices.

DO NOT buy sewing machine from this place. His sewing machines do not work well.

IN RESPONSE TO THE OWNER'S REPLY: Presser feet, feed dogs, and throat plates are user serviceable parts. I didn't need a technician or additional parts. I have bought and worked on used machines before but never seen one as worn as this one. "Perfect working condition" is a serious misrepresentation bordering on outright deception. ORIGINAL: The following is a factual account of my experience purchasing, and then returning a used Juki LS 1341 cylinder bed machine. I'm not trying to tell anyone how to make their own purchasing decisions. I initially found Dixie Tailoring through their website and their listings for used cylinder bed machines. I came to the store to look at machines and was shown two used Juki LS 1341 machines. I was also shown equivalent new machines but these were out of my budget. One of the two used jukis looked a little cleaner and was more accessible in the store (the other had things piled on the table). I asked if we could plug in the cleaner one and test it sewing. I saw the machine operating and was able to try it myself. In the cramped and dim shop space I didn't take the time to remove any of the cover plates and inspect the internals and this maybe was my mistake. The owner stated that used machines were all serviced by his mechanic and that parts that needed replacing were replaced. I took this to mean that overly worn internal components would have been replaced. I paid for the machine and picked it up the following week. I got the machine to my studio and got it set up. Before I took anything apart to clean the internals I tested the machine and it sewed as it had in the shop. Then I took off the presser feet, needle, and throat plate. I planned to use the machine for binding and would be installing a different set of presser feet, feed dogs, and throat plate for this. These parts were purchased from a licensed Juki dealer and made specifically for this model. Once I started removing pieces from the machine it was clear that it was in much worse shape than it had initially appeared. Internally, every part of the machine was caked in dried grease and oil. This hardened gunk was so thick that it was difficult to make out the shapes of the mechanical linkages. I could see no signs that any work had been done internally by the mechanic. Once the throat plate was off, I discovered that the feed dogs had an incredible amount of slop in all directions. It isn't uncommon for there to be a little bit of play in older machines, but while they were fully secured to the drive linkages I could move the feed dogs 1/8" to 1/4" in ALL directions. This is a part that should not be moving unless the wheel is turning, and only ever forward and back, not side to side. I tried installing the new throat plate and feed dogs for my binding setup but I found that my new parts had alignment issues and wouldn't function without shimming. The wear on the machine was so bad that it would only function if the feed dogs were also so worn that their tolerances were loose enough to accommodate the slop in the system. When I then tried to install new presser feet I discovered another flaw. The screw attaching one of the presser feet was non-standard, larger than it should have been. It looked like the original screw probably had stripped and the fix had been to drill out the hole to fit a larger screw. This meant that any presser foot I wanted to use on this machine would need to be modified to fit this larger screw and rendering them unusable on other machines. I contacted the owner and asked for a refund because the machine was not functional - changing the presser feet and feed dogs is a key function of any sewing machine. After a lot of push back he said I could return the machine and pay a $320 restocking fee, exchange it for another used model, or put the money towards the cost of a new machine. I immediately packed the machine into my car and brought it back to the shop. I received a lot more push back when I got there but after over half an hour I was returned my money (less the $320 restocking fee).

I purchased a Jack A4 Sewing machine. The people who were helping me with my order were very nice and friendly. Order went through smooth. Had an issue with the courier delivering it however the staff at Dixie were great and were going to send another machine. Mine was found and delivered shortly after. The A4 is a beautiful machine. Setup was a bit difficult using Youtube (language was not in English) but was able to piece the table together and got it going. If your looking for an industrial sewing machine I would recommend the Jack. Runs smooth with no issues and has a lot of features only found in machines much more expensive. Most of my fabric is 10/15Denier so it's able to handle super lightweight fabric easily. Tension was easy to set as well. I've put through the odd heavier fabric and it's not a problem at all. Overall experience was ok but with reservations. both the machine and the business. Small change to my review: after the initial purchase they were suppose to send me some small items. They were slow to follow up and 1 month later I still don’t have them nor will they follow up.

Great people - very helpful with lots of experience!

Wonderful shopping experience, knowledgeable demonstration of all machines, was very happy with recommendation of machine based on description of my needs. Went home with a new Jack F4, very easy to setup (needed a couple YouTube videos as the instructions were a bit vague (and Chinese). All in all, very satisfied with the service and the machine.

Mo was very helpful and nice. He helped my wife with her decision on what to purchase and was very knowledgeable.

I had ordered a Jack A2 and it had arrived damaged by the courier. I was able to bring it back to them and since there was no other A2's in stock, he upgraded my machine to a Jack A2s with no additional cost. Every time I called to ask them a question (and there were several) he was always kind and answered everything with respect, patience and politeness. I got the new machine home and set it up and it works wonderfully. We drove all day to them to exchange the machine. It was a long drive but well worth it! Thank you!!

I ordered a sewing machine from Dixie in June. Trying to get this machine working has been probably the most frustrating thing I’ve ever done. It took 2 months, and I lost work because of it. And at first the machine was even delivered to the wrong address and their response to this was rude and dismissive. I had a really difficult time getting it working because I was continually sent the wrong parts. The machine was shipped to me and was not in very good condition. I have had to repeatedly request help with broken or missing parts and have not had it resolved. And it does not seem like customer service really cares. I decided to give up and contact a sewing machine technician to help me, at my expense, when I paid for a complete machine, and I also purchased missing parts which should have been part of the machine package. Now after 6 months I am Still waiting on a replacement of a broken control box but can’t seem to get a reply. Had I not spend the extra money to get one myself I would still be stuck with my machine not working. I’m really disappointed and I won’t recommend Dixie Tailoring to anyone, or order anything from them again.

I am very happy with my Jack A2 machine I bought now over three months ago. I use it everyday for my business and it works like a dream. I especially love that I do not need to change my needles when using different weights of material. I highly recommend the machine itself and the business Dixie Tailoring. Very happy with the experience. I'm now back again purchasing a Jack serger to go with my sewing machine. Now both my machines will be Jack.

BUYERS BEWARE. DON'T TRUST THESE PEOPLE. I'm a student working on a super tight budget. So obviously it's important that find a salesman I can trust.. I start looking for a new heavier duty sewing machine, and at first 'Mo' or Mohammed sounds like the perfect guide to finding a reasonably priced, used, combine feed industrial machine for the heavy and often tacky, finicky materials I'm using. During my online search I actually found a Juki 1181 used, but in amazing condition. I went in to purchase with the exact amount of cash needed. He told me to go to a second location which is off of west beaver? I can't remember. I drove up there, saw the machine, and he INSISTED that I look at newer models, with better, longer lasting "warrantees" ect. Apprehensively I humoured him and he showed me a Maqi 212. A straight stitch he claimed was better and could work on fine detailed leather, and then continued to do a demonstration on it where he took (very dry and old non-tacky) leather. (Which admittedly will work well in this circumstance). And ripped it around in this high-speed powerful machine. Although he was fully aware that the Maqi (which is only licensed to sell is either China, or India and barely recognized by machine techs) was not actually capable of crafting leather garments with the precision that a walking foot/combine feed would. He then continued to deter me from purchasing the older Juki model, stating that it had "no warranty" and would cost me a lot to fix up in an emergency, and assured me that the maqi was more efficient and the same price, urging me to purchase the new machine. After some coercing I eventually caved, (Yes in retrospect I realize how stupid and naive this was).. And bought it in CASH (again dumb) however the warehouse we were in wasn't equipped with any receipts so I would have to return another time to pick it up. Almost immediately after driving it home in the truck I had rented.. (I live downtown) I realized the table was bent in a way that was impossible for it to have happened via-transit as it was secured horizontally and strapped down. And literally since day 1 have had massive issues with the machine. In terms of lighter fabrics- This machine is relatively decent at keeping up. However, anything heavier is a catastrophe.. Thread jams constantly, rips, breakdowns, time adjustments, everything. It's never an easy job even to do the smallest tasks. I've had a tech look at it and he was even stumped about the machine. Cheap garbage parts from China. Frustrated, I've left several messages, emails, texts ect asking for it to be refunded, and only last week I was actually able to get ahold of him. I very calmly told him on the phone that I would like to trade it back in, (NOT EVEN REFUND IT - WHICH THEY STILL WONT DO EVEN WITH RECEIPT DUE TO THE STORE BEING "WHOLESALE") and he said that due to the fact that it's been off the lot, it's value has decreased!! So now, after buying a machine for $1100, renting the vehicle to pick it up in Richmond Hill for $100, having it serviced for $200, and losing out on undetermined revenue, I now only have $700 'valid credits' at a store that coincidentally no longer carries any used reliable walking foot models under $1400. The math just doesn't work out. :(. Anyways.. Buy somewhere else. Don't make the same mistakes as I did. Especially if you're a first time buyer. VERY UNCHILL PEOPLE.

Bought some elastics for face masks. Super expensive knowing everyone wants them. $20 for like 25 yards when Walmart sells $30 for 125 yards.

One of the best places to buy a sewing machine. They give the lowest prices. I've shopped around and some people just charge so much extra for no benefit. The Jack machines they have are top of the line and I would highly recommend you take a look. I went in for a juking 8700 and I found out it was the cheapest machine they had. It's a popular item but it's a low end machine compared to the high tech stuff they have. Great stuff 10/10

Great place to go if your looking for sowing machines or sergers and thread highly recommend this place.

There is a variety of sewing machines, all of which are of highest quality. The owner explained me the performance of each machine in great details. I bought Jack F4 and Jack E4 serger. They are the best in this industry. The machines are super high speed power saving and they run so smoothly. His top notch customer service is one of the best things you can expect from him. Overall, I feel satisfied with my purchase.

Please DO NOT buy from here. Tina Ruso this is a fake review, most five star review is fake. The worst place I have ever seen. The shop owner is very rude.

Matt Clarke

Great people until you leave the store, very hard to get in touch with after purchase with questions and concerns about the machine I purchased. They claim to supply warranty on parts but do not answer emails or calls. Very shady and unethical.

A real family owned and operated business with a personal touch. The gentleman was a pleasure to deal with. His devotion to what he sells is obvious in his end product. 100% recommend this sewing shop to anyone who is in the market for a good sewing machine.

Me and my wife bought a few machines for your company. Jack A4, Jack C4 automatic,1 walking foot jack 6380. we also bought Japanfuji walking foot. Very good machines I tell you. Jack quality is much better than Juki and at a very good reasonable price. I tell you the japanfuji machine stitches so smoothly and good for handbags and leather. My wife loves it. thank you Dixie.

Henry Smith

Everything went well and I bought a jack single needle machine for school. I've had the machine for a bit without any problems. One of the salespeople asked me to write a review so this is my experience with them. I bought a Jack machine after testing out a few others. I was going to buy a Juki but the guy there let me test them out and the machine I bought was very quick and it is supposed to use less electricity so i went with this. I couldn't find any other Jack machines in the GTA so i wasn't sure about it. So far its been a month with this machine and its working well. I can give this business a 5 star rating because they did give me a lot of extra free stuff with the machine and the guy there showed me how to used the machine. All in all if I would buy another machine in the future I would come back and see what these guys have. -Henry

Bought arounly 50 yard elastic for 40$ he advertised 45c to 70c and charged me 80c. Said it was the type of elastic. All I wanted for 1/4 inch and he charged over what he said. Said I could return but I drove over 25 min each way so it wouldnt be worth it. Order online. Amazon is 200yards for 20$ same with walmart. I feel like I have been scammed.

James McLellan

Great to deal with. We have purchased 2 machines from them in past 6 months and will buy more as our company grows.

Sheila Pirani

I have bought 5 machines, juki and jack. Used juki and new Jack. I recommend this company to many who are buying machines at the good price. They are very helpful. They sent me free stuff too. Alot of my other friends that have business told me about them. My machines service then they sent to me. I open my own business and love the machines. thank you. I will come back for more suppiles. Thank you SAmira and Mo.

Venessa Pecak

My experience of buying a Jack machine was phenomenal. He was very hands on and made sure I knew everything i had to know for this machine. Definitely will be purchasing here again.

Jessica Johnston

Whenever I purchase machines for my shop I come to this place. Sam is very informative about the machines and what is best for my business. He never pushes an expensive machine just to make a sale. I have bought 5 machines from him over a 2 year span and never had an issue with them! I am a repeat customer, he is my only machine supplier.

Sehijdeep sarao

I purchased three machines from here(Jack) and I can say hands down it was the best quality for the best price. I am very happy with my purchases, there is some great customer service also. I will return to this company for my sewing needs.

Excellent costumer service. I bought the a jack sewing machine 2017 model and works amazing. This machine can sew all fabrics. If anyone is interested in buying a sewing machine this place is the right place to go.

Tina Ruso

I purchased 5 new and used machines from Mo. They sent me pictures of the machines they were going to sell to me. I was satisfied with them as I know the price of these machines are so high in the market. His prices are very good i can tell you. They also asked me to come see and test the machines which was happy to do Im very good with testing my machines. Saw they are as the pictures are shown. They said on the phone that the used machines do have discoloration and rust, but I know thats normal. I have a factory and I have over 25 machines. We get machines every year. Tested the machines, they were serviced as he promised. I really appreciate all the extra needles, bobbins and clippers he gave me for free. Has many fabric and supplies, will be returning to buy more for a friend. thank you Mo.

Emma Jeffrey

In all honesty I ordered from this company before and it was amazing it came in in 2 days but I ordered from it again thinking I'd have my order really soon because I need it for sewing and stuff I've been now waiting for almost 3 weeks and I still haven't got my order and I have people depending on me and all the people who work there all that they can do is give me excuses on why my order hasn't came I've been asking for my tracking number for the last I don't know how long and they keep saying tomorrow tomorrow tomorrow yeah that's why I'm giving it a two-star.

sdefe gete

The owner is a good man. His prices are fair and has many machines on hand. I bought a used Juki walking foot machine from him at the warehouse and picked up some high quility leather at the same time. I have lots of experience shopping around and I found his price is the best

RICK HUGHES

Very knowledgeable about sewing machines. Ive been sewing for years and the guy there Mo really knows his stuff i tell you. I bought a Japanfuji walking foot and Jack A4 and the machines are very very smooth and can sew lots of materials Ive tried with other machines. I agree with having newer technology, because everything becomes more easier with newer machines. Old machines I tell you Ive had so many problems with and kept calling mechanics to come fix. Dont be cheap and buy used, just spend a little more and buy brand new. Doesn't matter what name it is used are not good anymore. These two machines I bought are very smooth and sews like a pro. Thank you Mo for opening my eyes. I will be coming back for some sewing supplies as well as the C4 overlock you showed me. Thanks for your business my friend.

Andrew DeCarlo

BE VERY CAREFUL BEFORE PURCHASING MACHINERY HERE. many of their used machines, including the Juki cylinder arm machine I purchased here are in EXTREMELY poor condition and have been re-painted to appear newer. When I arrived to pick up the machine I had put a down payment on via their online store, it was immediately and visibly clear that the machine they had set aside for me WAS NOT THE ONE SHOWN IN THE LISTING. Foolishly, under pressure from the owner, I let this slide and paid for the machine. Upon setting it up, it became clear the machine was not in reasonable working order as advertised. After days of arguing over the phone, the owner agreed to refund roughly $1400 of the purchase, keeping over $300 for himself - doubtlessly to cover the cost of this deeply damaged machine he likely purchased for $200 to sell for $1700.

arghavan soltani

A good company that sells the highest quality sewing machines with the best prices. A lot of variety in the sewing machines, sergers, from new to second hand including great deals on the threads. Amazing place to go if In need for any fabric/zippers/threads/machines for fashion students as well as freelancers

Really like this place. Bought a Jack F4. Love my machine. Really recommend this place for someone looking to buy a sewing machine. Good family owned business. Lots of sewing supplies. Have been buying from them for years.

highkey gang

I don't trust them. They are all a bunch of liars . They sent a different model from what I ordered on their website. I am from Calgary. I ordered a Gemsy 600B-01 and was sent a fake model . I have all proof and pictures and was ready to sue them , due to the lawsuit being difficult in two different locations , it made it hard to meet up in court. Just wanted to let everyone know ! Heads up because I don't want the next person to get scammed and ripped off from them. Be safe out there , you never know what type of scumbag people are out there.

Harp Rudich

i bought a Jack F4 sometime last year in 2020 and i've been using comparable juki models ever since i started constructing garments. these chinese machines have officially surpassed juki as a workhorse as they are identical to jukis (literally, jukis are now made in china) with better features for their base models excellent showroom where i got to see a demo of the machine and very helpful staff. the store itself is a bit messy but the products are all well maintained. the owner is a very nice gentleman
