Really bad customer service, I had a lady name Martha helped me. She didn’t know anything about the system and took forever to do a transaction. Please make sure you the policies or else they won’t help you at all.
This place has so much perfume and cologne it gives me a headache and causes my asthma to flare up. Impossible to find a sales associate and line ups are so long. I rarely go near The Bay but had to after Christmas and it's worse than I remember from 8 years ago.
Love the Bay both in store and online. Becoming a little too high end though, could use a few more budget conscious brands

As the last surviving department store in Canada - it gets 5 stars. Now if they would just quit selling Ivanka Kushner's (aka T. Rump) stuff I could quit boycotting them.
This is a decent Bay. It's feeling a little run down, but they're currently doing some renovations. This location is a little small and as such has no housewares/mattress/kitchen/etc section. They have most of the clothing brands that other Bay's carry, with the exception of some higher end brands. They always feel a little short staffed here. Lineups for checkouts, and registers with no staff in attendance. As well their clothing racks get messy and unorganized quickly, and they don't seem to put much effort into dealing with this. The store never feels as "on point" as other Bay locations. I returned a shirt recently for having several small tears on it, and have since found it back on the rack, unlabelled, three times and reported it each time. They don't seem to care.

BE CAREFUL ORDERING ONLINE!!! All the items in my order were sold out and The Bay canceled my order but still charged my credit card. Even after calling customer service to have it rectified they have told me that they need more time due to an error on their end. This is happening to many people!
Needed items for work, but nice young fashionable things without looking skanky.....they had awesome shorts fun styles and comfortable that were on sale....I'm talking $20 and under. Will return to shop more work attire.

Good selection, but overpriced as usual. Selling Hilfiger sweaters for $100 when Costco had the same ones last year for $39.99. What a rip-off. I fear our Canadian "heritage" store will be out of business in 5 years if they don't smarten up.

Great selection of anything and everything. The items were all neatly stacked and placed enabling one to find what was needed easily in the widespread area. Slightly on the expensive side and could be waiting for a bit if you need staff assistance. Staff were very polite and helpful once I received the service.
Was able to get in and out in 5 minutes. I hate shopping malls and only do it if it's the easiest option, like when something you "need", like luggage, breaks and you're 3 blocks from one. Therefore, efficiency is very important to me. Found a quality item in the category I was looking for at Hudson's Bay without problem. Staff was nice.

I always hear the bay is closing every day but I'm not really sure if that's true I just love to be.growing up with the Hudson Bay company my Dad loved everything that was Hudson Bay so I naturally love everything Hudson Bay one of my favorite things in the house is my Hudson Bay blanket in my Hudson Bay BBQ apron. Still though the prices are very expensive feel like you need to be rich to own everything Hudson Bay.

The problem with this store is that it's a little confused as to what it wants to be. It has great gift ideas, but at the same time, everything is really overpriced. It's got cosmetics, but the sales staff is too pushy, and very little help. It's got appliances, kitchenware, however they try to upsell you the products, stating that a $50 frying pan is on sale because it's actually $200. On the up side, the products ARE high quality, it's just the sales approach is wrong. Keep your wits about you, take a look at prices in other stores, and you will be fine.

Great selection of clothing and accessories at competitive prices. The shame is that the place is always a mess and the staff are standoffish at best. Often outright hostile if you refuse the suggested membership offers. There has also been a urine stain in one of the change rooms for the better part of 2 months now.
There are no shopping carts or baskets available so any longer shopping trips are arduous as you have to carry everything around with you.

Very over priced merchandise
Always find good deals, usually find what I want. I cruise the whole mall looking for something then find it at the Bay on sale. I scold myself often, "why don't you save yourself some time and just start at the Bay!?"
Need to buy men’s cologne Wednesday evening with the family as a gift for a friend. We were in the mall around 6:45 pm bought some stuff then went to the men’s fragrance counter at 8:00 pm sharp only to be meet with two staff one cleaning the floor and another wiping down the display. All the products and samples had been put away. Nothing for me to try or look at. We left and will no longer choose to shop there. Poor standard to be closing down early.

A department store with quality merchandise and lots of selection. It's not always easy to get assistance but when you do the clerk's know their departments and are helpful. My wife purchased a brazier and got expert help in selecting apptopriate, comfortable apparel.

It's getting a bit long in the tooth and is due for a renovation. Still .. the Bay is the Bay. They have what you need at fair prices. When I say it's getting tired. They never did any updating when Woodwards vacated the space generations ago. C'mon HBC.

Should visit often for some surprise sales and discounts on items. Collection and variety of items are huge, have patience and look through. Winter collection is amazing during last few weeks, the only problem you may find is when you genuinely look for someone to help, you are alone.

It's good that we still have a department store (and a Canadian one). They have a pretty good selection of clothing, accessories and apparrel. This location is good because of the ample free parking.
It's a typical department store that's always hard at work trying to churn older name-brand styles for less. By far, not the best Hudson's Bay location. Store can seem a bit cramped sometimes, especially during weekend times.

Always love The Bay. A lot of great brand names but also many Bay brand items of good value. Great variety. Staff are good. Only challenge is check out line ups--they leave no room to line up. Sounds weird I know but geez...leave some standing room please.
The bays adult clothing line tends to lean in to a more mature selection. Their prices are a bit higher then most for even the simplest things. I would shop here for my mother rather then for me or my husband/kids

This classic brick and mortar is not doing itself any favors by not maintaining their space or ensuring staff levels meet customer requirements. With disorganized showrooms it is difficult to transit through the store while ensuring sightlines are open.
I have to say the men's clothing styles at this store are lame. It took me 45 minutes to find a sweater I would actually wear. Why so many v-necks??? There's a complete lack of flair in the styles presented. Odd brand names and strange colors and way too much plaid. The other thing that was weird was that they were selling NASA t-shirts. SpaceX is where it's at. NASA hasn't been cool for decades. Yawn.
I came to the store at 1630 for quick shopping, no one at front who welcome me said anything. At 1635 I was told that I cannot use fitting room because the store closed at 15 min. I understand that with "new normal" staff has more work to do, but if that's the case - they should close the store at 1630 or don't open at all if it's such a big deal to serve the customers while the store is open. Or at least inform them at entry that the fitting rooms are closed instead of wasting my time finding sizes in unorganized store just to hear that I can't try anything on ..

Ahh Hudson's Bay , A Karen's wet dream , holding up every line demanding the manager over a sale item not being on sale enough. White guys named Matt or Justin buying their polos from here ... get lost in the makeup /perfume maze where you will be trapped by a sales team member eager to sell you the new fragrance. Have you tried their sister store ?...The Bay ?
Always a great selection. The store could use a staff associate or two more to ensure all departments look tidier. It would elevate the shopping experience to other bay locations but they always have my grooming products and workwear that I need so I cant complain there
Prepare to be blasted with the smell of the purfume department situated dead centre of the main floor..prices are unrealistic in todays marketing competition .. escalator was broken and very akward assending to second floor. noticed and surprised winter wear still full price with early spring/summer setting in here in Victoria BC..This retail model would be expected to fail like that of Sears.
If there is any wonder why brick and mortar is failing, The Bay, is a demonstration of what not to do. Service counters that had two cashiers open and a line 8 people deep. Why because they tie a promos to their credit cards and and the cashier is doing the application. Broken service model.

Usually sizes are all mixed up and limited staff so if you know what you want it's fine to shop there. Sale days this weekend - some 50% off ...20% is not a big deal really.

There is lots of variety . I can usually find what I'm looking for but sometimes takes a while to find stuff. Items are all over the store so you have to really keep your eyes ooen . Prices are average beat to go early on big sale times. Great for honouring prices like buying something and then taking your recipts days later to get the sale price. That way you can beat the rush and still get the great deals.
Have been shopping at Hudson's Bay for a very long time. Over the last few months have noticed that their clothes and shoes are becoming increasingly uninspired and tired. I understand that the company is in financial trouble, same as Sears found itself several years ago. But it is a tricky downward spiral and management should already know this. Outdated clothes should be deeply discounted and latest fashions available and displayed prominently. The Mayfair store looks and feels tired, and that is worrisome. There doesn't seem to be anything new and fresh. Staff is lovely though and being that there's no other traditional department store, there's no lateral competition. But other retailers are closing in, especially in clothes and shoes. Plus online shopping is growing in Canada. HBC needs to wake up, get better buyers and start presenting more flattering fashions to their customers.

Hadnt been in years so thought ld check it out ..Needed a couple of new bras..Service was poor in different sections of store..l dont dress " rich" so l was basically ignored by staff..Prices were outrageous as well..a pair of leggings .$99!!! .. And when l finally got to the fitting room for bras..l had no idea what size l was..again..not much help from staff..and really didnt find much of a selection at all.Will be another 2 decades before l go there again..Im sure of that!

This is my first negative review but I feel obligated to leave it. My girlfriend bought me a nice Armani watch from the Bay for our Anniversary. She did a lot of research and was rewarded because I loved the one she chose. I went to wear it for the first time, though, and found there was a small crack in the glass on one of the sides. She brought it back to the store to ask about getting it fixed and was told she didn't buy warranty (which wasn't offered during the sale), and there was nothing they would do. She took the watch to a repair shop and they said it was clearly a stress defect in the manufacturing since there wasn't a nick or scratch on it and we were quoted at close to $200 to replace the glass (which is nearing the price of the watch). I tried to contact a customer service representative from the Bay online twice and was given an email saying someone would respond but I haven't been contacted weeks later. So now my girlfriend feels terrible because her anniversary gift is defective, I feel terrible for her, and we are faced with using it as is or paying almost the price of a new one to replace the defective glass. My recommendation would be to shop somewhere else if you want to buy something nice for a loved one.

Large store with fair amount of plus size clothes
The bay has some decent discounted racks where you can get prices 80%off , this is a place my grandmother shopped for us when we were young it's been around and they offer alot of different departments in the store , there is not many places left where you can buy a new dishwasher and a pair of jeans it's a dieing breed so it's good to support these stairs before Amazon takes over.
I love the Bay but I find this location is sooooo brutal. Last year it took almost half hour before I found someone to help me pick a fragrance. Today I was waiting in line to pay and one of the cashiers just walked away. I love the Bay.... but unfortunately this is the worst one I have ever shopped at.
I generally find that this location beats the downtown location. Excellent selection of plus-sized clothing and footwear. Had a great experience yesterday bringing my boyfriend's new watch in to have a link removed. We had tried the downtown location and there was nobody there to help us, so we tried Mayfair and we were in and out in less than 10 minutes. Very professional!
This is usually a quick way to enter the rest of the mall. There is clothing, shoes, bags, and cosmetics - no home stuff or gift registry. Any time I've tried to make a purchase, it's been challenging to find an open service counter. Staff have been hard to find on the floor, except near cosmetics.

The decline in popularity that they are experiencing is completely founded, due to their lack of product and till placements around the store, organization, helpfulness, productivity when helping customers. Will not be surprised if it declares bankruptcy in the near future, which is highly likely. 2 stars because I have better experience shopping online.

Not the best Bay I've been too. Covid might be more of a factor than i know, but it just didn't have the same atmosphere? For me, it was the styles of jeans and pants available seemed limited in variety even across brands. Seemingly had the same 3 or 4 styles, with minor variation by different brands. It was bland.

My wife and I had the opportunity of a daughter's visit to buy her a good vacuum cleaner yesterday and we found a very good deal from Miele on the website but could get no straight answer as to whether any were in stock. We came to the Bay at Mayfair and explained our problem to Vicki who immediately went and searched the store room and found just what we had hoped for as it was the only model on sale and we really like Miele. After having had a lot of frustration, this excellent customer service really made our day. It was a pleasure to meet her and it has enhanced our impression of the Bay's customer service a great deal. Thank you Vicki

I regret buying anything at the Bay. I went there today to the Massonville Mall location, because I needed pantyhose. First, I was annoyed at the chaotic layout of the store. Panties and bras are located at the other end and then you have to go all the way to the other end of the store to get pantyhose... so ridiculous and inconvenient! What bothered me the most about my visit was the way I was treated by the staff. They did not seem to notice that I was standing at the counter in the shoe section to pay for the item I had selected, and when I was noticed by an older blonde lady with glasses, she looked at me as though I was a cockroach or a disgusting bug in her way. I asked her to repeat what she had said because I genuinely had not heard her. The tone of voice she used with me when repeating herself was very rude and in fact made me want to not go through with the purchase. I am always pleasant when I shop. I know how hard a customer service job can be. I'm a hairdresser, I get it! However, there was no reason for her to treat me the way she did and because of that, I will never go back, no matter how good of quality the products are. -Kyna

OMG. Guess what happened at the bay!!! So let me start from the beginning. A few weeks ago, I met some girls at my friend raf's house. And today we were like "wanna watch a movie?" And then we were like "no" and then Alex was gonna play dark souls and we were like "no". So then we went to the bay!!!! And so we're walking around, emma's like, "let's play hide and seek"! But it didn't happen. But then who do we see but: the French girls!! Needless to say, raf had a great time. 5 stars!
I'm beginning to find myself more and more disappointed with the in store selection here. It's almost as though they've over-committed to so many brand names that they are unable to stock a reasonable selection of items from each designer. My recent experience here was with the Levi's Jeans. If you have a certain waist size, then you can only have whatever leg length they determine goes with that waist size. For example, I'm a 32W and 30L, but they only stock 32/32. Also in their Levi's section, their 511 jeans are only available in 2 colours! When you go onto the Levi's website you can choose your individual waist and leg sizes, and you have a huge selection of colour choices depending on what style you've chosen. My wife continues to have issues with them actually keeping stock of items in her size, which is a fairly standard medium/small range. Clean up your act Bay! Stock your shelves with common sizes and start committing to fewer brands.
I enjoy the Bay, I seem to always find something I want on sale... lots of variety. Remember to ask staff to remove security tags from your purchase before leaving the store, it's inconvenient to have to go back to have them taken off. ????

The staff are no where to be found. Took 30 minutes to check out for a simple belt purchase. I wish that I could say this was a one time issue but every time I'm in this location the staff are unfriendly, stand around talking to each other, and do not help you to find a way to check out. Incredibly displeased.
Pretty "meh" department store, they seem to be behind the times on a lot of things. I remember going there as a kid and other than clothing styles I feel like it hasn't changed much at all.

Good deals if you look hard enough
I love the Bay in Mayfair for its styles, selection and Sales! There were hardly any shoppers the few days before Christmas. I would hate for us to lose this store. I didnt feel the usual old fashioned Christmas excitement in the air. No perfume smells, last min sales, huge lineups and hustle and bustle of store clerks. I know that co-vid is the main culprit, but I hope that we dont all turn to internet shopping and end up with no stores to go shopping in .Part of the Christmas spirit for me comes with being a part of the excitement with everyone out and about. And the Bay was one of nostalgic Christmas places for me.

Pleasant enough staff, better staffed than I remember over the years. However, yesterday we were served by two young women in bedding dept. One of them was doused in some sickly sweet perfume, which I found nauseating. When I mentioned it discretely to the other young lady who rang me out at check-out, the supervising cashier (older) overheard us and said "What?." Then, when I explained to them again that I was overwhelmed with strong perfume by their floor staff, neither of them said ANYthing. She quietly rang me up, and said NOTHING, not even a thank you, or goodbye. Weird! Like, I was the offending person? Hello? How thoughtless is it to 1) douse yourself in perfume when serving the public? And 2) not even attempt to respond to a customer concern (not a complaint)??? Disappointing

Usually expensive but if they have sales or Bay days sales then it's not too bad. But depends what you r looking for.
I found what I was after friendly staff but they only have one entrance open so I had to do alot of walking and I use a cane...same with change rooms they only use one and it wasnt close to where I was shopping!

Overpriced and a lot of filler and no substance on items, specially mens. Sales make prices ok sometimes, specially on Boxing Day and Black Friday, but then again, the best stuff is gone before you set foot on the store. I don't recommend it.

This place is difficult to navigate as it seems like they're always moving stuff around and it is hard to find a staff member to help you when you are looking for something. I don't really find anything of interest here anymore. There is a useful public washroom up on the second floor though if you don't want to go all the way to the food court or the single hidden one that is down a long hallway on the other side of the mall. There is a lot that you can find online and just order during their sales and if you order enough you don't pay shipping and then you can avoid this mob scene.
Great Higher-end selection for men & women's clothing, fragrances, etc. Doesnt carry Top-end designer brand clothing like Gucci, LV, Versace. The only reason I give it a 1 star is because of the VERY obvious profiling that this store's Loss Prevention team has. I've seen the same people dressed as "shoppers" always trying to sneakily spy on me like they're the Pink Panther. I asked one what they had for a certain brand and he made the '????' emoji face and told me.
I don't know what's going on at The Bay nowadays but the staff is attentive the deals are everywhere and it just feels good to shop. How strange is that! It's just nice to walk around like the old days talking with sales peeps, trying on stuff. I think I hate online shopping now. Make the time and you'll agree it's a social thing. It's just really really nice.
They sometimes have random sales if amazing discounts. Plenty of great quality clothes.. As well as random giftware. This guy <- Me, got a kick ass Christmas purchase with my giftcard.

Visited Hudson's Bay for the first time a couple of days back. It was good!
My go to place for clothing but the air is filled with the scent of snobbish decay. Everyone should be welcome regardless of how they choose to look, if your standards are "higher" then a customers it's best to keep your mouth closed, just some advice.
Went there for regular shopping... Met a sales person named AYSHIN in jewellery section very kind and energetic person. Showed and explained every offers what we need. Hatsoff for her dedication....

Got a new watch here and I love it. Their prices on watches are always decent and the selection is great. The employee who helped me was very knowledgeable. I had a problem with the band in the first couple days which they fixed for free with no issues which I really appreciated.
Grest sale this weekend - saved a bunch with coupon, my Points card, and bought on HB card. Great staff - lots on duty today too!
The Hudson Bay really started Victoria. This is the Bay in modern times. It is the anchor store for the Bay Centre Mall. Mid to high end retail department store items. Good place to go. Downside can be parking is a hassle dependent on what day and time of day.
As far as department stores go it is better than any I've in for a while. Huge selection, many many brands. I can't always see how the cost can be so high on everything but it is at all department stores. They have many High end brands. Inside a mall that has really improved over the last few years. If I were to shop at department stores I would frequent Hudson's Bay.

I'm not really sure how The Bay stays open. It's been around forever but they refuse to change with the time. We were just there Christmas shopping and didn't buy a thing. No carts. Almost like they don't expect you to purchase multiple items. Looked like a thrift store the way things were just thrown on racks. Pricing is way too high. Won't be going back anytime soon.
Well it's a bit like wandering through grandmas house in the 80's. The blue hair, the over powering blend of every outdated perfume and cologne. Watches and jewelry that have been cleaned and dusted so many times the rose gold plating has worn off. Employees at the beauty counters desperately hanging on to their the last few years, waiting for some unsuspecting person to step up for a face plastering. Sale sighs that have been recycled since the 70's that may as well say POW, BANG! For all of there relevance. And the iconic striped blankets that just won't die, they were trendy for about a day back in 2008. The company is on its death bed for sure.
One of the few big retailers that have stood the test of time and online shopping. The store hadn't changed much in terms of what they offer, and the selection remains to be sizable. There are always sales on individual products, brands or departments.
So at 9:01 even if you are at the counter with the products in your hand they say come back tomorrow because they are closed at 9:00. I was flabbergasted. So come back the next day and standing in line the cashier says she can’t help and I’d have to stand in line. I was standing in line. Such a rude experience from multiple staff members makes me wonder about how the upper management is training their people. Hopefully they learn that retail is dying and it’s only through building an amazing client experience can save it.
I AM IN A OUTRAGE DO NOT BUY FROM HERE EVER AGAIN! I CALLED HUDSONS BAY AND THEY SAID THAT THE BOXING DAY SALE WOULD BE ENDING ON WEDNESDAY THEN IT ENDED ON MONDAY AND I WAS UNABLE TO PURCHASE THE CLOTHES I WANTED FOR THAT PRICE THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!
I much prefer the downtown location over this one yet they do carry the very same stock...truth be told I prefer the downtown Vancouver location the most since they closed the original historic building here in Victoria and turned it into high ends suites and a public market...
Not too great this visit. I was specifically looking for women's leather gloves. Pretty well sold out in two locations. Is this a sign of rough times ahead? We can't plan to purchase winter wear after Christmas? This was not confined to The Bay stores either. I searched many stores in White oaks mall also, to no avail.

We were walking through,and noticed that they had a optical department so we quickly stopped by. I must say they had beautiful frames. We stopped and the lady working there asked us to leave. There was only one other person there. Very sad. That's all I have to say.
The last time I was here, I was informed they do not sell appliances at this location. They only sell across town... This is not normally the standard for these stores in other cities. Time before that I was told they do not price match Walmart. In fact I was told by someone who works at the bay on another city that the bay does price match Walmart and they suggested I report the employee for that misinformation.
Went in am to pick up an order, they were under staffed and one lady could not find it, but 15 min later another lady came up with my order and more staff start to come by. Overall good service.

I was extremely unhappy with the online ordering and went to the Mayfair Bay to try and resolve the problem. I was so impressed with Peter Pearson in Major Home fashions . He spent significant time resolving the issue in a positive and professional way. He's my guy from now on!
Love the staff at this particular destination. This stores inventory pails in comparison to the one on Bay Street in Toronto. But the staff here are helpful, courteous, and always pleasant.

This store was a huge mess! Clothing was all over the floors. Nothing folded neatly, or organized. I cant say I have ever seen the Bay look so terrible.

Staff was helpful and patient with my purchase
We had a bad experience with sales staff the other day. We spent a couple of hundred dollars on new sheets. On the way out of the store, the security alarm went off - the clerk had forgotten to remove the security tags. We looked around, and, after a bit, a clerk slowly made her way over to us. "Give me your bag." She took our purchase - that we had already paid for - and slowly made her way back to the cash register. She then slowly checked our purchases, two packages of sheets, versus the receipt. When finished she simply handed the shopping bag back and said, "Okay." No hurry, no apology, no thanks, no nothing. We had done nothing wrong, we were momentarily deprived of our personal property, and our time was wasted. I was there with my wife and toddler, and did not want to make a scene. But it was very bad customer service.

Shopping at stores like this at Christmas time can always be a challenge. While it looks like they have a great range of products, at this point they are almost cleaned out of many of them. Finding things in the right size can be a challenge, fortunately they have an online option.
Why didn't you get 5 stars? Long story short...I bought jeans that were ripped and zipper wasn't working. I was able to return it but the lady that helped me *Helen* was all the way rude about the return. I came back to the store within an hour. It's not like I went to vegas, had a good time, and came back to return it after after a few lapdances... I don't know what she thought happened but...girl smile.
Went there tonight to have some links put back into my brand new watch and the person that does this was gone...... The only person that can do this is gone....? Before the store closes....?! The watch counter has its one hours..... Soooo weird and annoying. Train more than one person and have someone there open to close.... It isn't rocket science..... There should ALWAYS be someone in EVERY department. So now I have to make another trip to the mall.....
The Bay is known for good quality items at reasonable prices, often on sale.
The watch and jewelry repair person located in the Bay does a good job at fixing stuff.
Update: Boxing day sale long counter lineups at cashier's till. Black Friday bought a 24'' spinner luggage model Atlantic @ $78 what a deal normally at this price you only get a 19' cabin size. Only not much in able to pick colours but not complaining. Long line ups at the till today so what!

I spent an hour selecting cloths only to be told that 15 minutes before store closure I can no longer use fitting rooms. Ridiculous.
A little out of my personal budget but it's worth every penny if you shop there in my opinion. I can always find what I'm looking for here.

We had a unpleasant experience today. My son trying to find a necklace for his girlfriends birthday. He gave the sales person a price indication, but she didn't want to help us in this way. She told us to look around and ask for the price when we liked something. That's no service, that's clearly indicating that you don't feel like helping us in anyway. We walked out and bought a beautiful necklace at Pandora.

We went to look at toys. Most of them were either broken, dirty looking or missing parts or packaging. It also feels like a bit of a ghost town if you need some customer service. I feel very sad for the decline of this once prominent department store.

I was.initially just passing through but ended up buying a Christmas gift, good deal. I was able to identify a couple customer service reps and got directions to my purchase.

From the moment I walked in the door the greater at the door was short and snotty when I asked her a question. I just had a return 2 items from shopping online I went to store to return..customer service (sales clerk) was rude and unwelcoming, had zero personality. You'd think after being stuck @ home for what 2 months for shut down staff would be thrilled to have their jobs back. I was 4th inline the other 4 were buying things so it had nothing to do with my return, she was the same way with other customers ..at a time when we all needed a little normacy you'd think she could of tried to be polite. She has a very distinctive look, I will know to avoid her next time if there's a next time.

The staff was exceptional here. I was looking at the mens fragrances and got some excellent recommendations. I was looking and did not plan on buying anything but the lady behind the counter still sent me home with a sample and did not pressure me to buy at all. She was very knowledgeable and helpful. The store itself was a little messy and crowded. I personally prefer shopping at the white oaks location as it's larger and has better selection and I also find that it's cleaner than the mcconville location. This could just be a matter of when I shop but the staff at the masonville location are always excellent and I've never had a single complaint with the staff there.

Generally I find The Bay staff friendly and approachable. Clothing for baby through to adult. Cosmetics and personal care. Home decor, furnishings and appliances for every room, large selection major appliances, many in store services. Toys at the bay have a high mark up compared to other stores, recommended for every else.
Feels like a store awaiting the axe to shut down
Had an issue with an online order. Even though it wasn’t caused by this location, the manager (Daryl) offered to help me resolve it. He clearly cares about the customer (which seems to be increasingly rare in the customer service industry). Besides the exemplary service I received, I also love this location as it is always clean and well organized. Staff is very friendly, approachable and helpful.
Awfully disorganized store. Very limited stock. A large portion of the store is filled with Christmas pajamas and Christmas sweaters. The shoe department is almost empty. This was my first trip since the big Mayfair renovation. I won't be going back.
Terrible customer service. Nobody answering the phone, understaffed, No operator to help you out.When you are on hold , no music playing so one is actually not sure that you are on hold until it disconnects. There are a few people that are caring and give you good service when you are at the store . However, this store is the pits for service . I actually have cut down my shopping so much àt the Bay now because of the whole set up. It used to be such a good Department store.

The lovely gal behind the jewelery counter shopped with me on her IPad, found the perfect style online for me! She was very helpful! And it was delivered 4 days later, nice and quick! Love my new watch, and will definitely go back!
I came to town in response to adds for Nespresso coffee maker @ 40% discount. After waiting in line to speak to the Nespresso rep, and beginning to discuss my questions, I was twice interrupted by customers to seek further information from the representative. After this show of poor customer service I chose to not carry on with this transaction and return home.8

Great stores, has almost everything you could want in one mall, there's even a spot to get free chargers, strollers/children's push cars, ect for while you shop in the mall.
Many of their discount racks on Black Friday were misleading with a sale price sign on display or a percentage off and come to find out that much on that rack or table was not included when you checked out. The name brand would.match even but would not have the discount. Not how a company like that should be doing business.
I had occasion to deal with Estee Lauder's rep who I will call "S" - the initial of her name tag. I was returning a purchase I had bought online. I had the receipt from my email order which had the order number, and my address. I handed "S" the purchase and the email receipt and asked if I could please return the product. Even though I was clear about a return, she asked me what I wanted to exchange it for. I reminded her that I had clearly, calmly ,and politely asked for a "return". She told me that the paper was invalid because there was no order number. I pointed out the order number. She then tersely said "ID". No "please". No "To help me out/ could I have your address". The only person who can demand ID in the manner in which she tersely demanded it is the police. It turns out all she wanted was my address which was also on the order sheet I handed her. With much fanfare she looked at the email receipt and found the address she required. Finally, the return was processed. This is not the first experience of poor customer service I have had with Mayfiar Bay. If I deal with The Bay at all in the future it will be downtown Victoria. If were possible to give a negative rating on this review, I would.
I'm a plus sized woman. The Bay has an entire section for plus sized women. Not all clothing is expensive. I just searched for clothes in my price range. I scored twice. Not only did I find tops to fit my price range but also exactly what I was looking for. There is plenty of free parking at this location which is in Mayfair Mall.
I was really impressed with the Covid-19 protocols they have in place.
A great selection for every member of the family. I enjoy being able to park close and shop efficiently. Prices are a bit high but the quality is decent.

A furniture purchase made on September 27 was scheduled for delivery on November 5th. We got a call from one of the Bay’s call centres on 1st that we could not understand because of the caller’s problem with the English language. We called back and had a different person tell us the delivery would be made on November 5th but the time had yet to be determined. On November 4th we got a call from a different call centre advising the delivery would be made between 9am and 1 pm the following day. We had pre-sold the love seat we were replacing and I delivered it to the purchaser on November 4th. We also moved furniture from our front entry to facilitate the pending delivery. When the delivery had still not been made by 2:45 I called Customer Service (yet another call centre) and was told that the delivery would be made before the end of the day. It wasn’t so I called Customer Service the following morning and was told in very broken English that the delivery would be made on November 5th. When I told that person that the date he gave me was yesterday he said he would look into it and get back to me and that he would ask their delivery provider to contact me. That didn’t happen either so I called Customer Service again with the same result. I the contacted the salesperson at Mayfair asking her to follow up. It appeared that no one knew anything and I was told that the identity of the delivery provider was confidential and could not be divulged. It was not until November 9th that I was informed there was both good news and bad news; 2 of the 3 pieces had been located and would be delivered the next day sometime between 9 am and 1 pm. On the afternoon of November 9th a call from yet another HBC Call Centre advised that only 1 piece would be delivered between those hours. After the delivery personnel had placed the furniture inside the house we were told that the other 3 pieces would be delivered on Friday, November 12th and provided a telephone number if things went awry. On November 11th, today, we received a call from a call centre in Moncton, NB advising that the remaining 2 pieces would be delivered not tomorrow, but next Friday. A call to the delivery company’s phone was answered by another person with English difficulties who told us to call back tomorrow because today is Remembrance Day. It will be a long, long time before we ever set foot into The Bay again.

Went to do a return. Was sent to wrong department, stood in line, redirected to new department, stood in line again. Wished they'd bring back the customer service department. Customer service is a thing of the past?
Waited twice for someone to find a size of shoe i wanted. Ignored the first time And then told the largest 1 style came in was 9.5 in mens. This was a style advertised on the displays too not clearance. Waste of time even going.

I took in a suitcase today that I had bought about 8 months ago. On my first trip the wheels fell apart and the rubber looked like it exploded. I had lost my receipt and thought it was going to be a huge hassle explaining my situation. The clerk a male (wont use his name) was amazing. The manager came over and was also so helpful, she offered to take the suit case which was pretty much garbage, honor the warrantee and gave me a gift card for the price as the floor model. The salesman then helped me pick out a suitcase that was more to my needs and better quality. I was in and out with in 15 minutes. I thought my money was wasted and they would be hard to deal with. I was pleasantly surprised and very thankful.
I was there with my mom and my experience was not good due to no one asking us if we needed any help they just looked at us there's a reason I do not go into the Hudson Bay they are not friendly at all and they don't offer to help you when they can see you are looking at things

Great place with lots of room
My fiance and I were in the Jacques Vert display area of The Bay, trying to decide on what she should wear at a wedding in a couple months, and had picked a hat out. While we were discussing whether or not to buy it, the area manager walked up and told us we would have to buy the hat from her personally, and couldn't use another cashier in the store, then took the hat from my hands involuntarily and walked away. Was just a strange encounter and felt a little accusatory, needless to say we left and didn't purchase anything. Ill continue to shop at the bay but probably not at that location. That kind of stuff doesn't happen online.

My husband and I had a very positive experience at the Bay while shopping for a kitchen appliance. We were assisted by a very courteous and extremely helpful shop assistant called Mimi. Mimi went over and above retrieving information about the appliance and even gave up part of her scheduled break time to make sure we had all the info we needed. Mimi was an absolute delight and so patient. She really made our day, especially in these bizzare times when patience and tempers can be a little frayed! Thank you again Mimi for all your wonderful help.
One of Canada's last great stores. My family and I have always liked the Hudson's Bay. Not the cheapest of stores, but if you look around on sales days you can find some good deals. The Bay is like a member of the family who has been around a long time, maybe an aunt who is looking old and tired, but you still love her.
Most items, if no all, could be purchased at other stores for a lot less. You would probably get better service as well.

What can I say it's The Bay. Most of their stores are old and need to be updated. This one is no exception.
Staff aren't always the most pleasant, and their changing rooms are pretty gross honestly. The sales at the peak times of year can be amazing, so keep your eye out here for deals for sure... but customer service is consistently outclassed by stores selling product less than a quarter the price.
The Hudson's Bay store sell everything for home appliances, clothing for all types of events for ladies,men and children;shoes, jewelry, wallets perfums and everything for decorate the Bedroom and living room and you can pay with credit card /cash or debit and free parking lot and the employees made a good job.

The Bay is one of the worst stores to shop at. Cash register bays are always empty and you have to wander throughout the entire store looking for a cashier. When you finally find a cashier, you're attended to by some of the rudest and miserable human beings. I really wouldn't be surprised if The Bay ever announced that they were closing. Customer service is the face of a brand that consumers interact with and if they're rude and condescending, no one is going to come back. They really need to work on training employees better.

Barbara, Velida and their colleague (I didn't ask her name! Sorry!) were so sweet and patient. Although it's a self service store, they went out of the way to help me find what I was looking for. The great people there are the store's competitive advantage!
They have a great Plus Size selection and lots of quality brands.
Excellent quality merchandise. Most sales persons are knowledgeable and willing to do anything for you. There are few exceptions. Customer loyalty program has my attention. They keep giving me rewards in the form of gift cards just because I take advantage of their good sale prices on quality products. 90 day return policy! If the Bay carries a product, I would prefer to buy it there.
I like shopping at the Bay because the staff work with each customer to resolve their purchases and returns patiently.

This place is the most unprofessional store I've seen in my entire life. I was shopping yesterday evening I was browsing for clothes prior to making a return. While browsing I heard conflict with what appeared to be a manager and a younger associate. The associate had tears streaming down her face and the manager said "Do you see my face right now, I am extremely upset" (The manager was probably just mad because the associate wasn't selling enough of their credit cards). The associate walked off crying after this conversation. This is EXTREMELY unprofessional. In no way should a manager have such an intense conversation with their employees while customers are around. A conversation like this should be held privately. A few minutes later I saw the younger employee again, her eyes were red and looked like she had been crying. Despite what had just happened to her she greeted me with a smile on her face and offered to help me with my return. I feel so sorry for that poor associate and the manager should be ashamed for how she handled such a situation. I will never be returning to that toxic environment again.

Rooftop parkade entrance closed. Mall entrance near Food Court (CIBC and the Source) closed. Mall entrance that is open has an employee (wearing a mask). Also has squeezable hand sanitizer at entrance. One way in and one way out.

Store needs to figure out which population it's serving. Poorly stocked in a few areas... bedding etc. Pleasant staff.

Clean, many new stores to choose from with lots of parking
The staff were rude and borderline degrading. I asked 6 different sales people for help and only 1 of them gave me any sort of response. I will not return.
