I've been using Alian Designs for years now. I've probably had 8-9 suits fully altered (top to bottom) because of my odd shape body, need to buy bigger suits and have them tailored down, also a number of shirts, pants, and have even taken my wife for dresses/skirts etc. I think his pricing is fair, but his work is exceptional. Went back again today and was happy to go back after a few years.

Ailan Design's must be the most elegant I had ever met in Toronto. The store makes me feel like I am flying back to Medieval England. I love everything there and owner is nice and gentleman who fixed my pants in a minute. I will absolutely come again when I need any help about textile. I think everyone who come will enjoy stay in the store for a while. It is not hard to see how popular such a small store is. BTW it is a little bit hard to find the entrance just slow down your steps and you will see. Enjoy!

Was highly recommended to Alian by a colleague. Found out that Alian has been in the tailor business for 40 years. First in his home town Mashhad, Iran, where he owned a suit manufacturing facility. Then, when he came to Canada, he worked for famous clothing stores like Roots and Harry Rosen. When he saved enough money he opened up his own custom tailor store. He's very friendly and chatty as he finds out what you want. In between his queries, he is reminiscing about the good old days of Iran, while his hands glide over the fabric with dexterity and fondness. It reminded me of someone stroking their loving pet. You can see the love he has in crafting a suit or stitching a tear.

Amazing service. I brought a bridemaid dress, basically Last minute. The gentleman was able to have it ready in two days, as I have requested. I was very happy with the turn out! I Honestly did not expect it to look this good, the dress was top big for me, and i looked like a potato in it before alterations. After he was done with it, it looked beautiful and molded to you body perfectly. I will definitely be back for any other work I may need and will recommend him to anyone. You do pay a liyttle extra here but you get what you pay for - quality :)

If your looking for an actual tailor who knows what he's doing then you've found it. ive lost a lot of weight and my fav suits didnt fit along with my other clothes. took all my stuff here to be altered in a way were he van re alter it again in the future if i needed to. Everything fits perfect now. my suits fit better than before. he also makes custom bespoke suits by hand like the old school proper way. I'm thinking about it because every man needs one custom made suits for weddings, work, whatever.

I came to Alian Designs to get a suit jacket tailored. Very poor workmanship in the stitching and I was not pleased with how he treated me as a customer. I would recommend finding another tailor and I ended up going to the place in College Park, which not only was efficient and fixed Alian's errors, they were also slightly cheaper

Honestly unsure how Alian Designs Tailor has such high reviews on Google? I went here based on the high ratings and it is a close 10 minute walk to where I live in Yorkville. Brought two pants in to have hemmed up - this is a simple job for any tailor. I called beforehand and the owner himself (Alian) said he could get it done quickly even within the same day if needed. Okay. I show up and said "when do you want it back, on Tuesday?" and it was Thursday. I looked at him and said I spoke to him on the phone already. We agreed the job could be done next day mid-afternoon. So points off there for lying on the phone about having the job done much quicker and then trying to buy a LOT more time in-person. What I did NOT appreciate is that Alian kept telling me about his custom tailor suits. I am not trying to brag but my suits are nice (mostly from Nordstrom or Harry Rosen or custom bespoke) and I was coming from work so he saw what I was wearing. It is fine to promote your profession and that is fine that he brought up the topic of custom tailor suits however he kept talking about it for several minutes trying to get me touch fabrics and look at things; listen, I was not interested in his work and did not like the suits nor fabric he was pushing onto me. I was getting very annoyed but trying to be polite since I had just dropped off pants. Other points off there for pushing more business onto me; again, it is fine to mention it, however going on and on about it for several minutes when I am not interested is not proper business etiquette. Then the last straw was when I came to pick up the pants. He was just about to put the pants in some random plastic bag (that did not even look that clean and he "blew" into the bag to clean it out in front of me which is ridiculous) when I looked at the hem. One of the hems was totally undone and I pointed it out to him. He DID NOT apologize and simply said "oh I will fix that now". He fixed it but this is ridiculous. If I had not looked at the hem I would have gone home to only see this later and have to come back to get it fixed. His "one month" policy of having items re-hemmed etc is of no-use if his initial service is poor. By far the worst tailoring I have had in downtown Toronto. Why anyone would recommend this place is beyond me. It was just close to my residence and I went by Google ratings. Also, if it is snowing outside be careful as the stairs to go up to this place is rather narrow and steep. I would NOT recommend Alian Design's anyways.

Although he may look unorganized at first glance, this tailor does his job very good! I visited him two times last year for couple of complicated alterations. I spent over 500$ there for 3 suits and 3 shirts. His cost is not cheap but the service is very well worth it. On my average Calvin klein jackets he shortened the length, tailored the waist area (from the sides and the middle) and slimmed the sleeves. It looks like a real custom suit. And for the pants he did the waist and slimmed the bottom. I am very happy. I highly recommend him.

I brought in Brioni and Ralph Lauren Purple Label, only for this "tailor" to completely butcher the alteration. The seams were still open and he used a liberal amount of GLUE. Measurements were also OFF. I am unsure how any "tailor" can have such a lack of attention to detail, and a complete lack of respect toward his own profession to use glue.

Arash was an absolute gem of a find. My fiance bought an over-sized but beautiful Hugo Boss suit (at a discount) to accommodate his shoulders. Everything else was ill-fitting, although this was not apparent to him. I knew however that the sleeves needed taking in and his pants hemmed and insisted he find a tailor. We did a simple google search for "men's tailored suits Toronto" and noticed that "Alian Design's Bespoke Tailor" had amazing reviews. Indeed we were not deceived. My fiance felt confident after meeting him that he was knowledgeable, experienced, highly skilled, and an artisan of "the old country" training with nonetheless current and impeccable tastes. Not only did he fix my fiance's sleeves and pants length; he also pretty much redesigned his suit jacket to fit him in the most flattering, stylish way. At every point, he allows you to decide whether or not to go forward with a particular recommendation. He wants the suit to look beautiful on you, however he's also not pushy. He does all of the work himself, even the most simple jobs like hemming, which we really appreciated. He was faithful to his stated pickup date ("within a week, and we should call") and he made on-the-spot final adjustments immediately. We are by no means rolling in cash so we also appreciated his extremely reasonable and affordable rates. We really respect and appreciate your work, Arash. Will definitely come again at your new location :) Thanks again.

I found this place, Alian Designs, by accident and decided to see if he can make or replicate a suit similar to my increasingly older but favourite suit. He was very gracious, knowledgeable, and professional in his approach, especially for someone like me who does not purchase tailored suits often. Not only did he made a suit very similar to my favourite one, but made suggestions to make it even more stylish. Arash is extremely professional. Priced competitively but, his work is what separates him from the rest. I had the option of buying a new suit or "modernize" the ones I already have. I'm happy I decided w the latter. I had four pairs of cotton twill pants altered recently, two of which required pretty complicated alterations (essentially sizing down the entire pant while keeping the details of the garment intact). I was very happy with the end result. This tailor is excellent at what he does - the turnaround time was fast and I really felt like he knew his stuff. Although the alterations were definitely an investment, they were done impeccably and I can now wear these pants for years to come. Entirely worth it! Thank you!
