I think it is important to recognize that you are buying a Canadian made suit, tailored to perfection by a dedicated team of professionals by going to Sydney’s. On top of that, you get expert insight every time you’re in store and Sydney won’t ship a suit until it is absolutely custom to your liking. They provide a terrific customer experience and the quality/ fit of their clothing is next to none.

After a day of sampling suit shops from Roncesvalles to the Distillery, we stumbled upon Sydney’s. I was a drop-in, and yet they still gave me the best treatment I have *ever* had in a suit shop. Devorah helped me first into a gorgeous navy suit. It was a bit higher than my price range, but the quality and craftsmanship were evident. She walked me through each of her suggested alteration, and played with it until we found a perfect fit. And THEN just as I was getting ready to commit, she came upstairs with another option. Was it more affordable? Yes. However, that wasn’t why I bought it. It was a PLAYFUL and chic white-patterned navy suit which they tailored to perfection. I work in the arts, and Devorah read my situation perfectly in pairing me with this suit. The first time I wear it will be at the Metropolitan Opera in a week, and this suit will give me the confidence I need to shake Joyce Di Danato’s hand! Other points of note: The eponymous Sydney was working alongside us on the floor helping other customers the whole time. He is a true craftsman and his pride and quality are matched with a level of personal service that is clearly the hallmark of his brand. The decor of the store was designed by Sydney’s partner, who was also in the store assisting in fittings and sales. She gave me a crash course in suit maintenance that was very informative when I checked out. Whenever I was in the store, I was being fitted alongside repeat customers who have clearly developed a personal relationship with Sydney and his clothes. It made me feel that I was buying not just a suit, but a piece of this Toronto community. I can’t wait to show it off!

Sydney's is my favourite menswear store in Toronto by a long shot. I've been going to Sydney's for around 8 years. His designs fit me like a glove and the fabrics he uses are all of exceptionally high quality. The Japanese cotton he uses in most of his Oxford shirts is nice and heavy, and super easy to iron. Shirts that I purchased almost a decade ago are still in fantastic shape. I love that his lines are entirely made in Canada. Style-wise he leans toward a classic slim fit and earthy colours. I can't think of anywhere else in Toronto where you can assemble such a high-quality foundational wardrobe at such a reasonable price. Admittedly the prices are not super cheap, but you get very good value on account of the high quality. There are really no other menswear stores in Toronto like Sydney's. Where else can you speak directly with the guy who designed the shirt you are trying on in a store? Buy one shirt and I bet you it becomes your favourite.

I got hitched recently and I needed a new suit. I’ve been a customer of Sydney’s for quite a few years now, but this was the first opportunity I had to avail myself of one of their custom services. I chose to go with their Contemporary Bespoke service and I was thrilled with the result! Sydney has impeccable taste and offers an extensive variety of options. I could have looked at swatches, buttons and thread all day but Sydney helped keep me focused with patience, knowledge and humour. I’ve owned Canali, Zegna and Hugo Boss suits, which were all fine and dandy, but none of them have fit me as well or were made of as nice a fabric as the Loro Piana wool I ended up choosing. I thoroughly enjoyed the process from consultation to final fitting. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Sydney’s for your next suit or any other sartorial need you may have. What a find and what a great experience! I was introduced to Sydney's by a friend who was shopping for work interview clothes. It was during their Boxing Day sales week. Sydney and his staff were very attentive and informative. I walked out of there with almost a new wardrobe. Sydney and his staff were terrific to deal with and helped me pick out and put together an awesome made-to-measure suit. I had a pretty quick turnaround for the suit given it was made-to-measure but they were able to accommodate easily. The suit turned out perfect thanks to the help they provided every step of the way. The shop itself is really interesting and worth checking out even if you're not having a suit made. It's a great reflection of Sydney's own personal style and there are some very cool pieces there.

Sydney's saved me! Whenever I make it to Toronto, I will definitely stop in. I am a New York girl who by accident ruined her husband's favorite shirt (and there aren't many) in the wash. I looked everywhere for a replacement for the United Stock Dry Goods item and even went to the source...they were completely out of stock, but said that Sydney's still had one long sleeve version available. I immediately went online, ordered it and prayed it would still be there! In no time, Sydney's contacted me, had said they had heard about my plight, and offered for an extremely reasonable price to tailor the shirt to short sleeve.... Now perhaps the kindness is just stronger up north, but I think that customer service at Sydney's is just above and beyond and so they became my shirt fairies! Thank you, thank you, thank you...I highly recommend this store and all the wonderful people that work there! My husband has his favorite shirt back, and I am much more careful about my laundry duties.

Brilliant service and they really just know what they're doing. I bought a long sleeves dress shirt that had a very delicate stitching. Unfortunately, I later noticed there was some loosening of the threads - but Sydney offered to retouch it. I've also had some pants refitted because they were too tight, despite that I had bought them a couple months before. As well, Rose is always wonderful and very patient.

I wanted to make a dark green suit, which is not a popular colour right now, and there were no dark green suits to use as a reference. I was using fabric squares to imagine what the final product would look like. I talked to Indochino, Suit Supply, Gotstyle, and Harry Rosen. They were all great to talk to, but the reason I picked Sydney is that he was local, had good fabrics, and I felt like his experience guided me in making this very unique suit. I couldn't have been happier with the result. I had an initial measurement, and then two fittings. Sydney is thorough, and his incredible attention to detail was very reassuring and it paid off - I have a suit that fits perfectly (form fitting but not too skinny) and I feel like a million bucks in it. I seldom write reviews, but I think Sydney's deserves one. Prior to visiting Sydney's, I spent months looking for someone who understood fit. I found it very difficult to do so as I searched through major department stores and private businesses. Suiting nowadays can be a minefield with all the options available. If you are looking for made-to-measure, you are at the mercy of the sales person unless you have done your research beforehand and have impeccable style choice. Once you make the deposit, your money is gone and you might end up with a product that you are not happy with. I was very fortunate to end up at Sydney's. Although I should not have gotten two suits on my first initial visit since it could have been a disaster, I ultimately ended up getting what I wanted. Sydney's style trends towards contemporary and slim, but retains the classic tradition of a well-fitting suit. His suits will not be overly tight, they will drape well, and they will fit the way a suit should (e.g. jacket will cover your seat, shoulder fits just right, second button will align with the waist) I want to emphasize to all prospective clients that Sydney is a TAILOR and not a salesman. For those who are new to suiting, you want to find tailors rather than those that work at department stores because they understand the aspects of fit and suit details. Waterfall buttons, lapel rolls, balance...these are all things that suit aficionados should be familiar with. They were details that I researched before going to buy a suit and I was glad that Sydney knew what I was talking about. At a minimum, I think that if you leave Sydney's with a suit, then it will not be something you regret later on. It may not be perfect because made-to-measure never is and your style choices may change, but it would not deviate significantly from this ideal either. As a final word of endorsement (one which I hope will garner me discounts for life because the suits here are expensive), Sydney carries grenadines. Anybody who knows fashion understands that you know what you are talking about if you got these... It is too bad Canadians are not known for fashion and there are minimal choices available unlike places such as SR in the UK. In the absence of many options, Sydney's represents well-tailored, timeless clothing well.

Bought a Made-to-Measure suit from them with a fantastic light grey fabric, red paisley lining, and surgeon's cuffs, upgraded from the base model. Couldn't be happier with how it turned out! All of their inventory is extremely high quality, from the shirts to the raw denim to the belts, most of which is designed by them. I got a chance to work with multiple team members and all were extremely knowledgeable, accommodating, and just nice to talk to. In particular I got to work with Devora often, who guided me through a suit consultation and selecting fabrics/colours etc, as well as picking out a shirt, tie, and shoes, and was extremely professional, knowledgeable and courteous throughout. Because of the pandemic, there was often long periods between my visits but Devora always remembered all the details (even minor details that I had forgotten) from previous visits. Sydney’s was also super flexible with storage throughout this time which I really appreciated. Sydney’s has awesome clothes, and it is so clear they care about your satisfaction. I would recommend going here to anyone looking for a suit.

Great service. The entire process of selecting a suit can be stressful but they truly made the entire experience so relaxing. They take time to listen to what your needs are and do their best to ensure your needs are heard and you are satisfied. We weren't rushed out of the store or overlooked. First of all, where else are you going to get menswear directly from the people who design it? So when you talk to them about what's right for you (or what's not) you can believe their opinions aren't about pushing a sale. They want you to look good in what they've created and to feel good in it, too.
