My parents purchased a $100 gift card from Mr. Sam's in November of last year and gave it to me as a Christmas present. I was just in his store trying to redeem the card, which had no expiration date on it. When I said I had a gift card, he looked at me like I was from a different planet. I showed him the card my parent's purchased, and he asked where I got it from. I replied that my parents bought it for me. He asked if it was stolen, which was an offensive question, first of all. I responded no, my parents had purchased the card from his establishment last year. He indicated that the card wasn't from his place, and asked me again how I got it. Once again, I told him my parents had gotten it for me. He muttered something about 2015, even though the date of purchase was right on the card, 11-21-19, and said it wasn't good. That's $100 that just went to waste because he refused to accept the gift card, not because it was expired, but because he didn't believe that it was from his place. My parents aren't going to be happy when I tell them about this poor experience and how he essentially stole $100 from them. I won't be shopping for dress clothes at Mr. Sam's ever again.

I do not know why Mr. Sam has gotten such harsh reviews, people must want something for free. I had absolutely no issues at all. He was courteous and helpful and has good prices. I would absolutely by from him again and recommend him to anyone. Thank You!

If you need ANY dress clothes, go see Sam at the Birchwood Mall! I have been going there for years. If it doesn't fit perfect, he will tailor it. Very reasonable prices, fantastic quality. For example, on the way to Sam's I walked through JC Penny. I stopped and looked at a vest, it was $80, on sale for $48. I bought two vests at Sam's for $30ea. Before you buy, stop in and see him.

Does decent work. But it was not worth the headache to deal with him. Brought a suit back that he had tailored, he continued to remind me that it was how I had asked for it. Very combative, almost aggressively telling me that I was wrong and he was right. At that point I walked out. A $90 lesson that will not be forgotten.

We ordered suits for our wedding a month before and were told they would be there by the end of the week, they weren't there and he told us to wait a till the end of the next week once again they weren't there. Three weeks later we still had not received them and when we called and asked we were told that he is unsure when they would be able to get them, so we had to go elsewhere for our wedding with only 3 days before the wedding. I would not recommend him to anyone.

I asked him to shorten a dress and he completely messed it up. The hem was at least an inch shorter in front, from the middle of my right leg to the left side seam. If a hem is properly done it should be at least 1 1/2 inches so the garment hangs nicely. The hem he did was chintzy 3/4 inch, so I don’t enough fabric to fix the “wave” effect in the front. Plus portions of the hem were GLUED and not stitched. I am now scurrying to find another dress. Worst experience ever. IMG_4971.JPG

My dad was trying to find a suit for my grandma's funeral and my siblings and I went with him. The owner rudely yelled at my niece and nephew for doing nothing wrong. Then he proceeded to tell us different prices after he said it would be a certain price and my sister wanted to pay for it but because it was above the price that was set aside for it she wanted to take a minute to call her husband and okay it. Then the owner said get out and that he had real work to attend to. I would never recommend this rude man to help anyone to find a suit.

Went in there to get a suit or tux for my wedding and the man in there was very unprofessional and snappy. I walked straight back out as he mumbled under his breath. I had high hopes and was let down. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Very rude. Not a pleasant experience.

They were extremely unprofessional and rude. I would never go to this place of business or send anyone to this place. At no point did the employee who answered the phone say anything to let me know that I had called a place of business and acusaccme of being rude when I tried to speak me clearly when he couldn't understand me. This place is just horrible, never go here or call them!

Didn't appreciate the rude tone of voice while visiting this place for the first time. Came in wanting a simple taper on some work scrubs and the owner was saying $40 for a taper which I know is way over priced. I got a taper for $10 and great service at Polka Dot Pandas downtown. I won't be going to Mr. Sam's for anything in the future and hope to save anyone else the trouble.

Owner was rude upon entering. Wouldn't let me try on the shirt and escalated a fight between myself and him to the point he said he was going to shoot me... all over a return.. lol. I'm not even kidding is the sad part.

The guy seems friendly, but don't bother getting anything unless everything that you need is in the store. The owner will just keep telling you to come back and check a different day. Then a week before he tells you he is going to order from a different company (he won't) & that it will be in on 2 days before. When you go to check he tells you he has been calling around all day & no one has it but he might be able to get it in the next day....so now I have to figure out finding the last Groomsmen's clothes somewhere else with no time left to do...I definitely would recommend passing, the deals he gives you aren't worth the last minute stress

The products are nice but the owner is somewhat rude and does not always taylor clothes that were not bought at his shop. Every time I go there he seems annoyed that someone came into his store.

I see a lot of reviews regarding attitude and rude behavior. I’m happy to inform you that was not my experience. I’m not sure how many of you have worked in retail, let alone with the community or the public in general, I have worked in so many different fields and I’m here to tell you that as much as many will agree that good customer service can be an important part of the retail industry and experience, at the end of the day your feelings aren’t anyone else’s priority, but your own. This man has worked here for 20 years, if the amount of comments I’m seeing here about rude behavior are reliable, I’m curious as to why we didn’t share the same experience? Along with those comments I see haggling on prices, no. When have you ever walked into a JcPenny, Dunhams, Walmart, places such as Hollister, Aeropostale, you name it, and gone “ridiculous prices, these need to be lowered, I’m not buying this”. Bet you still bought it though, and if not, good for you! Here’s a well known secret which I guess makes it not so secret, you don’t want to shop there? Great news, you don’t have to! If I had to deal with some of the customers I’ve seem waltz around Port Huron especially since I’ve been back, I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to overcompensate in the kindness department, either. People around here can be so rude and entitled. The prices can be a bit expensive, but pay attention to the quality. You can indeed find cheaper options out there, just remember you get what you pay for. The man is probably tired after 20 years, but he was equally as nice when I sparked a conversation, so to each their own. I wouldn’t tolerate haggling on prices or rude behavior either. He’s making his living, deal with it or go elsewhere. This man took great care of me, sized me up perfectly, what didn’t fit was tailored which was a minor adjustment and the quality is great. He had me in and out, and I picked the rest up the next day. And many people I know who haven’t left reviews have all had similar experiences to mine, good ones. Take these things into consideration before you buy a suit anywhere, even do your research, it may humble you a bit. And as always, treat people with kindness, you just might experience the same in return. Crazy how the world works.

Great place to do business with! In most cases you'll be in direct contact with the owner. He is fantastic to deal with! A true professional! He really knows his business! I have shopped there on many occasions, and have always been extremely happy with the results. I hope he never retires!
