I got married last week and rented 9 tuxes from Jaco. He and his staff were beyond patient, gave guidance and made the experience beyond enjoyable. I was nervous to get a rented tux because I'm 6'4 with wide shoulders but a smaller waist, a nightmare for suits/tuxes. Jaco NAILED the suit, even put in extras to make sure it fit perfectly. When I put on the tux at my wedding and saw all my matching groomsmen, I knew 100% that Jaco Umo was the right choice. Perhaps you can get a suit anywhere, but the level of service, care, and patience from Jaco and his team make this an absolute 5-star for everyone of all sizes. I've shopped here twice now, once for a funeral and once for a wedding. I happened to pop in because it's near to my home and I've had a great experience each time. First, I think it's important to realize this is a family-owned (25 years if I'm not mistaken) business in a world where people are used to fast fashion and a completely different experience. That said, I find the shop has a lot of choice, from dressy suits to more casual polos and pants. As a larger guy (XXL, larger in some brands) I really appreciate being able to not only find clothes at all, but nice ones too! The owner has assisted me on both visits and I found him very charming and patient. You can tell he is very attentive to his customers and chats them up too. I dress very very informally most of the time so this is another world for me. I felt comfortable from finding the right clothes to the fitting to the hemming and alterations. I'm reading some of the other reviews and am wondering what went wrong, because I had quite the opposite experience. I think if you go into shops like this with respect, and you're reasonable you should have a good experience. This is not a chain store on Ste-Catherine with $20 jackets that fall apart after one wear. But the clothes are fairly priced, alterations too. I'll keep coming here for my formal events and am very happy to support a neighbourhood business.

I live in Ottawa and I needed a suit for a black tie event, a fellow co-worker advised me to take the time and visit Jaco Uomo in Montreal. I have wide shoulders and a slim waist and I explained it to the salesman. It turned out it was the owner Jaco and he really knows his stuff. He took the time to explain how a suit should fit and proceeded to provide me with options. One of the suits was a Matinique and the size 58 jacket fit me like a glove. The pants on the other hand was big and Jaco said it was not a problem he purchases extra pants of the same material on order to accommodate body types like mine. Jaco found pants that fit me, I tried them on and he took the length and in 5 min he hemmed them at no extra cost to me. I ended up buying 2 suits, jeans, sweaters and a coat. I will go back and recommend Jaco Uomo to all my friends and family.

Went for a tux rental for a wedding and had a bad experience. To start, the staff was incredibly disorganized; our party waited about an hour to be served. Suit fit was off, and they said they couldn't make any further adjustments. The shoe soles on both shoes became unglued during the night. Go to Waxman's.

Jaco will take care of you 100% Aug/9/2018 Edit: Spoke to Jaco, will go see him to fix my suit problem. I usually don’t review anything but my experience here was very disappointing. I recently picked up my suit and tried it on at home, they are not experts but immediately my parents could tell that it was not the right size or fit for me. The day i went in to find a suit the employee that helped me get my upper body clothing quickly grabbed what i wanted after ONLY measuring my neck size. The amount of time he spent on me was probably around 10 minutes, 5 minutes to put my dress shirt, vest and suit on and 5 minutes to measure my arm length and pants length, nothing then on to his next client. The amount of time or attention spent on me really doesn’t matter or bother me as long as everything is correct. i myself don’t know anything about suits or how it should fit or look but when i asked if the suit was right, as a professional he should have been able to notice It did not fit properly at all, but i guess the lack of attention to me really shows as i can barely lift my arm parallel to my shoulder. Im pretty sure i did not get any larger from when i tried it on. From all the other reviews the owner is a true professional. Unfortunately he was not the one to take care of me so i will rate this as how i see my experience, i have a wedding within a month and I’m stuck with a suit that doesn’t even fit properly. I live in Ottawa and i was asked drive all the way to montreal only to see if its possible to change my suit... i do not want to drive all the way down there only to find out its not possible. If i knew this was the kind of service i would be receiving i would have just paid extra to get a nice suit here without any problems. If you do decide to visit this shop, the only thing i can recommend at the moment is to get everything done by the owner.

De mon côté, chemise pantalon veston et souliers ne correspondaient pas du tout aux mesures. Un exemple parmi d'autres. Nous avons aussi réalisé que les chemises n'étaient pas les bonnes. Ni le style, ni la couleur. Finalement, sur les quatres garçons d'honneur un avait une chemise blanche plutôt qu'ivoire, un autre n'avait pas de boutons de manchettes et un autre un veston 1 bouton plutôt que deux. Il a aussi fallu récupérer certains morceaux le jour même du mariage puisqu'ils étaient toujours au nettoyage. Bref un niveau d'organisation difficile à sous-estimer.
