For background I lost a bit of weight since the last time I had to wear one of my suits, so brought one in for some alterations. Alterations: 1. Take in the back of the jacket, 2. reduce the waist, 3. hem and 4. taper the legs of the pants. They needed a week to complete. Once it was done, I was very very pleased with the results! Will definitely go back if any future alterations are required. A+

Been here more than a few times, also been to other tailors throughout Toronto, here’s why Silk Tailor is the best. Location is perfect for anyone, and we’re all just here to get a good tailored fit for a reasonable price. Brought my $20 hollister jeans to change it from a straight cut to a super skinny fit. Asked for a taper and he delivered it exceeding my expectations. I went in at 11am on a Saturday, went back at 6pm and it was already waiting for me. Can’t be more happy to ever write a review for this place, after all, he turned a pair of jeans that I don’t like wearing into my everyday clothing. Price was $20-25, it varies for different items and different lengths and all, but better call them to check first. Seriously underrated tailor in town.

I needed a dress shortened so i went to magic tailor where i was quoted $80 because the hem was scalloped. So i walked a block further and found this place where the guy quoted me $45. I think that's still steep for the amount of work but I didnt feel like looking around for more places in the rain. I got the dress in 2 days as promised and the exact length i had asked for. Leaving this review because most people will go to magic tailor first because of their reviews online but this is a good alternative for a way more reasonable price.

Had to get a gown in a chiffon material hemmed - I was really anxious about it as the material was so delicate and can be tricky to alter. I needed a fairly significant alteration (petite size) and I was recommended Silk Tailor by the Reiss associate at Eaton's where I purchased the dress. He did a beautiful job - took time to make sure it was the perfect length, beautifully hemmed with a very quick turnaround time (went in on Thursday evening, was ready on Monday afternoon). I would definitely recommend Silk Tailor! The location is right across from Nordstorm's - super convenient if you are shopping at Eaton's.

Went to get pants hemmed at 8:30pm for a funeral, he told me to come back at 9pm (the time he closes), I come back at 9:05pm and he's closed and doesn't answer the phone despite the lights being on and everything. I ring his phone for 30 minutes with no answer. No warnings or reminders to be absolutely sharp, just closes up at the time he tells me to come back to get my pants. Total disrespect for his customers. I will never use him again for anything. Complete garbage.

He automatically knew how to go about it for my piece, in a way that I hadn't thought about at all. Starting with positives: They did a good job hemming both pants. Also a friendly welcome. The whole, trying the pants on and getting measured and markings was good. Off to a good start. The not so positive: When I went back to pick them up, I tried the pants on and they felt like they didn’t bother taking in the waist as well (like we explicitly discussed when dropping them off). For the price you’re paying you’d think they’d do better. Too costly to not have them taken in. $90 down the drain. I guess you have to be clear with your ask and assertive when taking your stuff there. Their attention to detail was lacking. Again this is only one experience. They are probably excellent and I might have caught them on an off-day.

I don't normally leave reviews but I'm very impressed by the quality of workmanship here. The owner did a great job hemming my and my sister's dresses. The dresses came out with a perfect floor-length. The place is also reasonably priced especially given the location (just across from the Eaton Centre) and the quick turn-around time (a week for both dresses). I had gone to another tailor nearby but ended up going with Silk Tailor at half the price quoted by the other tailor. I highly recommend.

Took my bridesmaid dress for alteration, everything was fine except for the length, he hemmed it too short and the sides&back of the dress are shorter than the the front. I was wearing the heels that I will be wearing to the wedding when he was taking measurments. I asked him before taking it off if he took the measurement for the length and assured me that he did. I honestly don't know what I'm going to do, this put me in a bad position with the bride and buying another pair of heels is not an option. He took $20 off the $110 total but it will cost me a lot of money to try to fix it.

Very skilled tailor, passionate about his work and getting it right. I brought a bridesmaid dress to be hemmed at the bottom and taken in at several points along the sides. It was a complicated job given the dress, but he did it seamlessly - it looked just as good as the original dress. He also offered to re-hem the dress at no charge if I didn't like the length the first time, and seemed very knowledgeable about what would work best to make the alterations. He was very quick to get the job done - had my dress fixed many days before I was able to return to pick it up. Friendly and reasonable to work with. Would go back!

I can't help but provide a review. I went in looking for a zipper pull, and a customer there (seemed like a regular), called the owner forth from his work. I explained my situation to the gentleman (my son's jacket zipper slider broke, and I only had the remnants, not the jacket itself with me). The gentleman stated he didn't sell parts, but went to his box and rifled through his stuff. Came back with three zipper sliders for me to match up. When I asked him how much it cost, he looked at me confused, as if it was strange I would even ask that question. No charge. The other customer understood, and said, he's always like that, he's the best. Clearly. I think the least I could do is write this review ... and if ever I need some tailoring work done, I owe it to myself to come pay a visit and be a paying customer!

Highly recommend Silk Tailor for any of your tailoring needs. Suyar is not only very skilled and knowledgable at what he does, but it is done at affordable prices. I have been going to Silk Tailor for well over a year now and have been extremely pleased with his work every single time. I have had many alternations done including pants being hemmed (including euro hem), tapered, waist taken in/let out, shortening sleeves on jackets/blazers from the shoulder and from the cuff and fixing issues with collar roll. He is very friendly and will always do what it takes to ensure you are satisfied. I do want to mention that I have also used Magic Tailor in the past and their quality of work does not compare to Silk Tailor. In fact, I had to have Suyar fix the work done by Magic Tailor. I have finally found a tailor that is skilled, reliable, and affordable. 5/5!

I used to really like this place but have found a dramatic decline in the quality of work and service. Paid over $120 for an expensive coat relining and got to wear it maybe 15 times before the lining at the armpits and the back were torn open everywhere. Was charged extra to have this subpar work repaired, waited 2 weeks, and then saw the job was incomplete when I came back. I got sent away for 15 min while they fixed my pocket. When I got home I saw that there were tears in the armpit that weren't fixed either! Really disapointing. The staffperson was not apologetic or professional. A waste of time and money.
