I rented an executive condo for 6 months while doing some work in Victoria BC and during that time, merry maids of victoria kept my place very clean. When I first moved in, I wasn’t initially satisfied with how clean the condo was as I had an allergic reaction to the dust. So I called merry maids for a one time clean. I was very impressed with how meticulous they were with the dusting. They would make sure that when they dusted the entire place that there were no allergens floating in the air by vacuuming along side with the dusting. That was awesome since I casually mentioned my allergic reaction. During my stay within Victoria, I had Merry Maids clean my condo every other week and was very happy with their work.

I phoned Merry Maids on a Friday to ask about a move-out clean. The person on the phone asked me what condition my apartment was in on a scale of one to ten, with ten being pristine and one being a disaster. I said "One or two." He said that a "one" would mean urine and feces or blood or vomit in the apartment, and I said no, it wasn't THAT bad, but it was very dirty. Note I warned them that the apartment was dirty. The man on the phone reassured me it would be fine and gave me an estimate of $500. I said I'd phone back after getting estimates from other companies. I called back and booked Merry Maids service two days later. Again I warned them about the dirt, making a special mention of the fact that there was a sticky mess inside one of the cupboards. The person on the phone booked the maids to come to my apartment. The two women from Merry Maids arrived on time and set to work while I went out to pick up something to get rid of an odour coming from the kitchen drain. While I was out I got a call saying that "the girls" had called their manager to report that they were unable to do the job, because of the bad shape my apartment was in (which I had already been assured would not be a problem.) I headed back to the apartment so that I could lock up before the girls left, and to my shock and dismay they had left the apartment with the doors unlocked, so anyone could have entered the apartment, stolen things or done damage to it. I accept full responsibility for the poor shape my apartment was in; however, I did warn Merry Maids and was assured this would not be a problem. I am very surprised that the maids could do NONE of the work, not even wipe down the walls or clean the fridge, and especially shocked that they left my apartment open and vulnerable to thieves.

When my boyfriend and I started dating I was super impressed at the immaculate cleanliness of his apartment. Everything was always sparkling, no dog hair anywhere to be seen, and not a crumb in sight. I later found out he actually has Merry Maids come into clean every few weeks haha. I can always tell when they've been over as the apartment looks and smells so lovely! I also heard about all the fundraising Merry Maids did for the Mustard Seed this season which is truly amazing. When contacting the company the call was professional as well as friendly. I was given a quote over the phone which was right on of estimated cleaning time for the task! The cleaner was right on time of scheduled appointment for access to the apartment. Upon completion of the task the cleaner performed it in less time then quoted, which saved me money!!!!! Asked for one time cleaning, and they respond to come around 12;00pm.....then they come at 4o'clock which let me waited for 4 hours. It takes 1.5 hrs for three maids to clean a small apt exclude the bedrooms, so pretty much three maids each took an hour and half to clean a tiny quarter of my apt space. Feel like my 80-year-old nana can do it all by her own......and the price is extremely high, take ur time to find a better one and avoid merry maids

Buyer beware. We hired Merry maids for a move out clean recently, and were disappointed to say the least. First of all they charge 75$/hour for a single cleaner with little experience and a slow pace. For this hourly rate we were expecting quite a bit, as even highly skilled tradesmen with years of experience, technical training and thousands of dollars worth of tools often don't charge this much for their services. As you can probably guess, very little got done. We had a small 1 bedroom apartment that we expected to get mostly cleaned for the 3 hour service (again for 75$/hour, this expectation is not unreasonable). She started in the kitchen, as I requested she did, but was not even able to complete that task in the 3 hours. Keep in mind the kitchen is very small and she didn't even have to the clean the oven ( it was on a cleaning cycle). This situation caused us great stress because we were counting on merry maids to have most of our small apartment done for our move out inspection, that took place the day after. We ended up having to spend our own time to finish the cleaning in a panic to get it done in time. On top of that we just shelled out 240$ for a partial kitchen clean. We did contact the company to try and remedy this, but the only thing they would offer is 1.5 hours cleaning on them, which is not at all helpful to us as we no longer require their services( and we would never hire them again). After we told them this they stopped responding to our messages, as I guess their time is better spent signing people up for over priced and under performed services. I recommend you look elsewhere for a cleaning company, perhaps one that values your time and money.

After 4 months working from home full-time Merry Maids was finally able to come back and did a fantastic job, in a really short period of time. What would have taken me pretty much all day, they did in an hour. Cleaned kitchen and bathroom, vacuumed and dusted the entire apartment. I love coming home after they’ve been. . After two years of ill health and hospitalization my house was a mess. The kitchen cupboards in particular were crowded and frankly dirty with spilled food. There was just too much for me to do and it was depressing living in it. Then I received an unexpected tax rebate and decided to treat myself by hiring a cleaning service. A friend recommended Merry Maids. At first I was a little taken back by the price but decided to go ahead. I was totally amazed. When they finished I could not believe my eyes.The house was immaculate. It smelled wonderful, not like cleaners, but fresh. The bathroom just sparkled. The floors was extremely clean and no streaks! Best of all the cupboards were just wonderful. All scrubbed and organized. Lauren and Nicole were on time, friendly, pleasant and very very helpful. They brought all their own cleaning equipment and 'green' cleaners which was perfect for me as I have cats. It was wonderful to have them in my home. I would highly recommend these young women and this service.

I’m currently taking a break from being on my hands and knees scrubbing my house after we decided to buy a move out clean. I came back from Victoria for the meeting with my landlady to a partially cleaned apartment. They just decided not to bother with the oven, walls, carpet. Under the oven. Or behind the fridge.There is still mess on the floor and they left full garbage bags in the middle of the room. They informed us that they don’t clean any of the above and wasn’t included. Even after our $300 dollar quote got increased to 500. I had also requested them not to go in a cupboard which they decided to go into anyway. Ironic right? Don’t bother with the oven but you clean what I specifically said stay out of. You have caused a great deal of stress for this move and I will go out of my way to let others know about how the quality and pride in your work was. This is coming from a 24 year old man who isn’t even very tidy. This is abysmal

Merry Maids is a highly rated cleaning service that guarantees 100% satisfaction. Their prices, although a bit steep, were offset by the vigorous background checks and qualifications they put their employees through. I was under the impression that they would provide a quality of service that would make them stand out from their competitors as I was looking for an exceptional company to clean my apartment monthly where my newborn lives. Sadly, my experience with them was lackluster. I left the cleaners a detailed note about the areas I needed addressing, however, one of the items (cleaning the grouts of the bathroom) was ignored completely, and the other (wipe down the walls) was claimed by their employees to be un-doable. The day after the clean I went back in with a magic eraser and a cloth and was able to remove the residue on my walls. In addition, there was a dispute about the amount of hours worked. Although I knew this was a losing battle, as the customer representative I confronted the issue with would take the side of their employees, they claim to guarantee a 100% satisfaction. When I gave them the opportunity to put things right, nothing was offered. The representative did not offer to come back to clean the missed areas. They did nothing to earn my loyalty but were perfectly fine with charging a premium for their services. Their representative will probably post a reply saying "Thanks for your feedback we'll use it to improve our services" but behind their fake demeanor is an uncaring attitude about their customer's satisfaction. If you’re looking for a company with empty promises then go with Merry Maids. I set up my monthly cleans with Kyla Kleaning instead.

I was not pleased with the work Alex did at my apt. She did a quick surface cleaning when I specifically told her the bathrooms were my top priority . Mirrors were not cleaned, corners needed more than just a mop skimming over them. Toilet bases were not cleaned and neither was the floor in back of the toilets in both bathrooms. I got down on my hands and knees (I am 74) and did it myself. She couldn't even be bothered to pull out a magazine holder and wash the floor under it. At $75 an hour I expected much more. There were 3 items on the priority list for a two hour job. The cleaning staff does not seem to be trained to notice obvious places that are part of the job and details that are important. Something wrong with this picture when the client has to get down and actually clean after the cleaning service has been here.

They cleaned for a few hours. Cost $315 and I gave them each a $20 tip. Landlord comes to inspect and discovers the girls completely missed the front door closet. Landlord charged me $100 for additional cleaning. Make sure to inspect EVERY ROOM AND CLOSET before the cleaners leave!

The service from the maid was great. Everything was nice and clean and I was impressed. She accidentally broke the shelf in my fridge and informed me right away which wasn’t what I was upset about. People make mistakes and at least the maid owned up to it which I was happy about. She said I could call the office to to make a damage claim. However, when I did, the person over the phone was unapologetic and quite rude. She was very short with her responses and told me she would call me the next day because she wasn’t in her office. Didn’t follow up until days later and when she did, she still had a rude demeanour and a "Your problem, not mine" attitude. While the maid was fantastic, I was very disappointed in the way the higher ups dealt things. What a shame.
