Most people do their jobs and do them well and some people change lives by doing their jobs. This is no exaggeration when it comes to the incredible work done by Sherry Matin at Sateen Alterations. I went in to speak to Sherry a month or so ago about what I thought would be a unique and perhaps unrealistic request. Turns out, with Sherry vision, skills and determination, it was very much possible. Sherry was able to alter a wet suit to make it more adaptable and easier to use for me. This is no small feat as the material of a wet suit is difficult to work with and what I needed her to do was not a common request. Sherry was able to create and easy access pouch that would allow me easy access to my ostomy. This was pivotal as I was about to run my third consecutive Worlds Toughest Mudder, a 24 hour obstacle race. Being able to quickly access my ostomy whilst staying warm was essential to my performance during this grueling race. I cannot thank Sherry enough for her hard work, vision and ability. She is an incredible seamstress, business woman and friend. Through her work she has forever altered how I will be running future races and pursuing my obstacle race goals. Thank you so much Sherry. You know you're dealing with an experienced professional when they take one look at you in a baggy outfit, one look at your custom-order dress just out of the bag, and say, "well that's certainly too big for you, why did they have you order that size!" before you even try it on. Sherry is a genuinely kind, honest person who you can absolutely trust for dress alterations. She will not try to up-sell you on things you don't need, and is such a professional. She altered my wedding dress, and my traditional Chinese qipao (which was made from a fairly tricky fabric) and they both fit like a glove. We determined together that I didn't really need to spend extra money on a bustle, and she even helped me sort out what kind of undergarments to wear. Thank you so much Sherry!

What a lovely experience! I came from Vancouver because the reviews were so good. Sherry was just so sweet from hello and told me what she honestly thought about the changes I wanted to make. The alterations for the two blouses wouldn't have worked out the way I wanted she said because there wasn't enough fabric to work with. I also had a top that needed serging on the sides. She did it right on the spot and didn't even charge me because, "You came all the way here (from Vancouver)". Such a warm and generous lady! She put a smile on my face. Thank you. I'll be back.

I come to work early in Downtown in order to make it on time to Sateen! That's to tell you how great of a service Sherry offers. The only reviews with less than 5 stars are regarding the size of her shop. Trust me, it does not matter. What you get with Sateen is super friendly advice and communication with Sherry & amazing work for a great price. I can't say enough good things about her and her work! If you end up going there, have a look at her wedding dress collection. Try her service once and you will end up leaving a good review just like me. Thanks

Sherry is amazing!! When COVID hit and my wedding plan ended up changing into an elopement on the beach, I was in a pinch to get the length of my dress altered in a very short amount of time. I contacted Sherry and she got back to me right away and was more than willing to help me out. She finished the alternations so quickly and literally made me smile from ear to ear on my wedding day, dont think I would have made it down the beach without falling flat on my face, without her! Sherri is great. She is so kind and does amazing job. The only downside is the store is so small and she does everything herself so it's very challenging to take my time to explain things to her. Even if someone is simply picking things up and needs to pay, she has no other person to help or space to get that done quickly so it seems to be inefficient and I had to hope that there is no one when I get there. If there are any more than 2 ppl ahead of me, I'm screwed. For that reason, I've decided to go to somewhere else.

I needed a modification made to a custom equipment shipping bag prior to embarking on a short notice business trip to South America. Despite being busy, Sateen Alterations took my job on and had it done in plenty of time for my flight. Impressive response to a job dropped on them without warning and was done for very reasonable price too. Definitely took a lot of stress out of getting ready for that trip!
