Hate to let this secret out but this is the absolute best alteration place ever. They have two locations- one on 19th near Lonsdale; the other is near the bottom of Lonsdale 1/2 block up from Tap & Barrel. Really great pricing- excellent service and quality workmanship. Chic Alterations made this chair cover & foot stool cover for me, double stitching. Lovely. Very happy.

I’ve been going to Chic Design and Alteration for years now, and this is by far the most AMAZING tailor/couturière I have ever found! Fatima is a kind and ethical person, with a deep intention to do everything she can to serve her customers. She is an absolute master at what she does, from reworking old designs to mending/alterations, to fixing items I was previously told could not be fixed. Her original designs are well-made, and she will alter them to fit your body shape precisely (although I’ve never had her do this for me, I’ve seen her fitting her other clients, and it’s impressive). Fatima and her team are professional and warm, and I highly recommend them. They are located in Lower Lonsdale, on the west side of the Pinnacle Hotel.

I cannot recommend Tima at Chic Design and Alteration highly enough! I used to live just up the road from the Lonsdale store, and took clothes in for alterations now and again, because her work is always of the highest quality. I no longer live on the north shore, but continue to bring my clothes to her, despite the distance. That’s how good she is. Recently I decided that I wanted to have all (yes, all) my pants hemmed shorter than they currently are. My wife suggested I try it with one or two pairs first, but in my wisdom I decided to go all in, because that’s the kind of person I (sometimes!) am. I took them to Tima, and she hesitantly agreed to my request. She then called me to triple check that the agreed length was what I wanted. I confirmed it. Well, she did the work as instructed, and when I got them home I realized that I’d made a terrible mistake. They were way too short. Once my wife had finished laughing and I had gumption enough I returned to Tima, looking to at least make shorts out of the better pairs. Now here’s the thing. Tima, all-knowing seamstress that she is, saved the day. She had left two inches on the hems, just in case, and was able to open them up and rescue my faves. I’m not sure which part of this sequence of events my wife enjoyed the most, my dumb insistence on doing all my pants at once, or the fact that Tima knew me well enough to prevent me from making such a huge mistake. Regardless, I relate this to you as an example of someone who is more than just a business owner, but who cares about their customers, and their happiness. Take your alterations to Tima. She won’t let you down!

I LOVE this place! Fatima is such a talented seamstress and she knows how to alter clothing perfectly. I have had several dresses taken in by her and she made the bodices fit perfectly. She was also able to remove padding from the bodice of a dress and afterwards you couldn’t even tell that padding was ever there. Her work is meticulous and she takes great care in making the garments look a million times better than they did when you brought them to her. On top of that, her prices are fantastic and she is so kind and friendly! I recommend Chic Design to anyone I know who is in need of a tailor - this is seriously the BEST place to go!

I got zippers replaced on 2 dresses and neither of the zippers worked. Neither would zip up, so had to take them to a different place to get them replaced. Wont be going back.

I took my wedding gown for alterations, I was assured the dress would be ready in time, it was ready only a day before my flight (no room for any final touches) and also really put a restraint in time for me to pick it up. My husband had to make time to pick it up between rushing from one place to another. The lady gave me a “discounted price” initially of $680 CAD but because my husband was 1 hour late to pick up she decided to bump the price up TO $780 CAD when initially she was a day late getting the dress done. My wedding was this past Saturday the button to hold the tail up to my dress did not work at all, I had to hold my dress with my hand together with my Dad’s Hand for the father daughter dance. Extremely disappointed with the rude, lack of Commitment to price service.

Fatima did an EXCELLENT job altering my mint green bridesmaid dress. I was on a budget, but she did what she could do with the price point I had for her. She did a great job at taking in the bodice, and shortening my multiple-layer dress without such a big cost. I would definitley recommend! Nice, fast, talented lady - finding solutions for you and catering to the budget you give her.

Brought a dress in for slight alterations as I lost some weight. This summer dress that cost me less than the alterations. I will bring my clothes downtown Vancouver from now on because I pay 1/3 of the price for the same job. Rediculous! Should tell people the prices before taking the items.
