I brought in my real fur coat, the girl up front informed me it was not real fur. She did not understand or have knowledge of what real fur or skin looked like. This seemed odd for someone working at a dry cleaners. This was my first time at this location, but she told me it was no problem and that it would be cleaned regardless. She gave me no warning about the possibility I could receive it back in worse condition than when I brought it in, I only received the pick up date. Naively I trusted her and assumed I took it to a professional so no worries. My boyfriend then picked up the dry cleaning where we saw no charge for the coat. Nothing was mentioned during pick up, I saw the damage upon examining the coat at home. I realized they had ruined it, when I called to question why we had not been made aware of the situation no explanation was given. The front desk women told us to come in and speak with the owner. When we arrived first we spoke with the same women up front who told us she had not charged us because she forgot about my coat in the first place which I now see was a way for this business to cover their tracks. When we finally got to speak with the owner he informed us he did not charge us because he was unaware of how my coat got damaged and ripped in the first place which was very confusing. Their stories didn’t even match, he continued to tell us it was out faults for not knowing about the leather that we had just received. When I asked for him to send it out to his leather guy he said no it wasn’t worth it and his guy is out of Toronto so it was out of his way and too much of a hassle to have my coat repaired that they did damage to. Then I asked for the repairs to be free of charge which was denied as the owner shoved my coat back at me and told me it was my problem and not his. My boyfriend also asked for at least a gift card for the damage which was also denied. The owner then told us and that no tailor would even bother attempting to fix it (he also kept blaming the damages on it being old and said nobody wears real fur anymore), I left the store very upset. The owner used some choice words and have never had such a rude experience in my life I can’t believe this man has a business and that someone with such little knowledge the older women up front with roots and thin eyebrows is in charge of taking people’s property and then not having clothing treated correctly.
