I needed to get my measurements for a formal jacket to send to a rental place in another city. This tailor told me that would be no problem. When I stopped by, the measuring process was really awkward due to all the covid regulations. I had to stay in this small plexy glass booth, but then he squeezed in with me to measure, but then I had to write all the measurements down because, I dont know, covid? We got it done and I pocketed the paper on which i'd scrawled my measurements. In the city, in the mall or something, typically they will measure you for free. This guy hadn't mentioned a price, but I also didnt want to take advantage of a small town business. I mean, it was only 5 minutes, but that was still his time, right? So I offered to pay, I pulled out my wallet and said "how much?" . I was sincere, I honestly did expect to pay something. But I also expected it to be a minimal charge, maybe $5 or something. Definitely no more than the $8 he was advertising to hem your pants, right? Thats why I thought maybe I was hearing him wrong through the plexyglass when he said "$25" ! But it was no mistake, he rang up the $25, which was $28 and change after tax! I'm not the kind of guy who likes to argue about the bill, so I just swallowed hard and paid it. But it tell you, $25 for 5 minutes spent reading a measuring tape? Thats certainly the last money this guy will ever get out of me. He just gave up any future business he could have had by taking advantage of me now. Maybe this guy does good work, I dont know, but if you decide to go to him, make sure you agree to a price in advance!
