Irene did an INCREDIBLE job with my wedding dress! Such a sweetheart and very patient with me. I started with 1 dress and made a mistake and sent my fiance a picture by accident and on top of that, Irene had already done SO much work to it! I ended up finding my DREAM dress and she fit me right in to get it on and make sure it needed no further alterations. She worked with my budget and explained different options that I had to save money where I could. I will definitely be going back to her for any other alterations that I may need.

Called and asked nicely if it would be possible to hem a pair of pants on short notice for family member's funeral (my dad I told her), and lady hesitantly and somewhat indignantly asked, "Well, what are we talking about for short notice?", to which my response was, "As soon as possible", then she laughed, and I hung up. Despicable human being.

Oh my golly! First Irene is a kind warm welcoming presence AND she is a zipper whisperer!! She fixed my precious jacket in 15 seconds! However the best part is that she brings her heart and her years in human services and sewing to expand how we can learn from our clothes! How awesome. Gowns, ripped items and from fitting needs are all up her alley! Suggestion drop in and meet this diamond of a woman!! Alaya BTW. She is also a very kind gentle presence. Perhaps just drop in to meet her!!

Literally the nicest lady I have ever met. Irene was recommended to me from 125 Bridal in Plaistow, as my dress was loaded with lace. Her message said that her schedule was full until July, but with my daughter's wedding in less than a month she fit me in. Her adorable shop is downstairs from the busy street, but i found it easily and parking wasn't hard either. She was meticulous with my dress and chatted easily about all sorts of subjects. I live 30 minutes away and would drive an hour and half to have my alterations done here. Thank you so much Irene!

Irene is truly amazing!!! I brought my wedding dress in for alterations, tried it on in the shop and Irene was quickly able to see what needed to be done and how she would work her magic! I came back for a second appointment where she had temporarily stitched the alterations she was planning on making in case any adjustments were needed. It turned out my bodice would be too tight, so she adjusted the measurements for the permanent stitching. When I came back to pick it up, everything was perfect! I can’t thank her enough for the seamless (no pun intended) experience, she is so knowledgeable, professional, and kind. I’m so excited to wear my perfect dress :)

She took a tight bridesmaid dress and found the exact fabric to match it and added sections into the sides of the dress to make room for my growing belly as I am pregnant. I have been a loyal customer of Exeter Tailor under the former owner for many years. She helped us and was gracious and NEVER turned us away. For 25 years she was professional and ALWAYS courteous and welcoming. The new owner is now pompous and attitude driven and NOT welcoming now that her business is running. She turned me away THREE times including today because she focuses on weddings and gowns which was not the case pre covid. She is apparently too good to tailor 3 pairs of pants for my husband. I will NOT bother her anymore and I hope others will follow. I had to give one star because of the site requirements but she should receive 0 stars. I wish I knew how to reach the former owner and let her know what has happened to her wonderful business. I am not sure who is responding to negative comments but what is being said is false. The negative comments on this site are from a year ago and the new owner is the one that the negative comments are being aimed at. Again the new unresponsive pompous owner who will only do gowns is who these accurate criticisms are being aimed at.

Irene was honestly the best tailor I have ever met! She was so polite, honest and reliable. I got my wedding dress altered here and I have nothing but huge complaints to give her. She made every dress fitting very informative and fun. I would highly recommend.

Brought in a jacket to get the sleeves taken in and shortened. She shortened them about 1-2 inches too short and never took the sleeves in because she said there was lining and would be more difficult. It took her 3 weeks to shorten the sleeves. Took the jacket to another tailor and the had the sleeves taken in and was done in a week

Tried to get my dress altered by one size and the woman was very short and told me that 3weeks isnt enough time to take the dress in so went and found this amazing woman vicki who works from her home. Her buisness is called "all stitched up" she took me rite in and said it will be ready as soon as next week! Thanks vicki! No thanks to exeter tailor!
