They do have great and expensive items. However, the store display is horrible. It's really crowded and feels things are randomly placed. It's hard to enjoy the shopping. Plus, I also agree that the staff is quite unfriendly everytime I walk in. Once I went to the kids section downstairs. The staff just rushed downstairs and was staring at me without any greetings... As if I sneaked in and she was like "I see you". It was so awkward that I had to start to ask something. Nothing she said was helpful as if she thinks I wouldn't buy anything anyways so why bother. Of course I didn't find anything I like there.

It's very crowded to move around. Staffs were not nice. They will stand at a fixed point, keep staring at you once you entered the shop. This made my friends and I very uncomfortable. Besides, they never used any greeting words, they just keep staring at you and that's it. They won't ask if you want the receipt of not, so remember to get the receipt. Also, you can't return once you brought it, even after one day. Which makes no sense as a store located in Canada. If I have read other reviews I would not choose this place.

This shop was quite frankly the worst I’ve possibly been to. Not only was the alleged owner horrifically rude. He blatantly denied flaws in the clothing. I am unsure of the quality or veracity of the stock here. The shop floor staff were excellent but the owner was an absolute nightmare. Totally avoid, do not shop here.

Went into the store and directly downstairs to look for winter boots. A staff member came down shortly after asking if we needed any help. We said we were looking for size 5 winter boots and he replied with " if you tell me what ones you want, I can look for size 5 for you." We said we did not know what ones we wanted so he sort of hovered over us for a while. We found blue gloves that we liked so we went upstairs and took them with us. Another staff member asked us again what we were looking for. We told him the same thing and he said to look downstairs. We told him we had already looked there and so he picked up a boot and asked if those would work. We said they were to short and he rolled his eyes and put it back on the rack. We then left and the gloves were never purchased. Terrible treatment and we would not recommend this store at all.

Perfectly happy to tell my story, I went to buy some red Blundstone boots. They had to order them, which was fine with me. When I came to pick them up, they gave me brown ones, then I was asked if brown was "GOOD ENOUGH". I declined, and on my trip to Toronto, got the ones I want, would never shop there again. Glad I took my buissnes somewhere else!

Had a very bad experience. I was not givin a refund, even with a reciept and an untouched Item. This was a gift. After years of loyalty I am not impressed. I was told it was "store policy" I've never heard of this before in my life. When I asked for a reason for this I was told it's to keep the money in the store. So basically I was told, too bad, we're going to keep your money and was then forced to accept a voucher. What an absolutely terrible bussiness practice. The number one rule of any company has and always will be that the customer is always right. That will conclude my bussiness with this illegitimate store. I guess thats what I get for trying to support a family owned local bussiness. Shame on you! ????????????????????

Had some good buys from the store but the store itself is too crowded, can't maneuver without bumping to racks. Also the way the staff just stares at you can be unpleasant. I like to go into the kids section but its a tiny basement room and a staff member just watches you from about 10 feetvaway the whole time. Difficult to browse whem you feel rushed.

A+ experience at A One Clothing. I had previously owned a pair of Blundstone boots (Girlfriend style and purple/red in colour) that I loved but I was in a motor vehicle accident and they had to be cut off my feet. I went in to A One to get a replacement pair, and they had put them on order for me. I got a call a few weeks later saying Blundstone Canada were not shipping the Girlfriend style in the colour I wanted and in my size, so I went in and picked out a different colour. The staff were very helpful, and placed an order for the different colour that I had chosen and in my size. I got a call saying they were in, and I went in a few days later to pick them up. To my surprise, they got a shipment of the Girlfriend boot in the purple/red colour in my size and set them aside for me. I was very pleased with their customer service and delighted that the staff remembered which boots I had originally wanted. Thank you for everything!

Bought expensive pair of winter boots and was told that the cuff of boot was ‘shearling’ when I got home the label stated ‘faux fur.’ I called to speak to someone but was treated very rudely by 2 different men. I was directed to bring them back if I hadn’t worn them yet. End of story so to speak. Thankfully I hadn’t worn them or I would have been out of luck. I don’t feel the ‘claim ‘ of the fabric was an error. I believe the man knew damn well it was shearling. $300 later I find out the same boots sell on Amazon for $100 less. Not a good experience and will never return.

It's impossible to browse because the staff follow you around the whole time. Most times I've visited there seem to be 6-8 staff who all stare at you, follow you, and coordinate to treat you like a thief. The kids section is especially bad, It's crowded and one or two staff will follow you down. Never had any helpful service despite the ratio of staff to customers. Seems like a huge amount of good merchandise, but this is exactly why online shopping was invented. Do yourself a favour and shop elsewhere.

Excellent customer service provided by staff working at A One Clothing after I needed a new pair of Merrell Hiking Boots for Winter. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff who even did not mind if I took a few photos for Google Map's after I made my purchase. Wide variety and selection of everything that you are looking for with a large selection of Winter Coats right when you walk in the store location and you have to navigate your way through them to get to the Footwear selection. Also, a great way to support downtown businesses in the City of Kingston by purchasing from A One Clothing. Absolutely terrible help. I needed a cheap shirt last minute because I forgot to bring a shirt for work. I went in this store and they continued to only show me shirts that cost roughly $80 plus. They told me there was nothing cheaper and so I bit the bullet. The next day, I went in later to return the shirt, but the guy that sold it to me had ripped the tags off and tossed them out, so it couldn't be returned. Absolutely disgusted with this place. They saw a person in a grind and they took advantage. The shirt isn't even mildy nice. Especially not for $80. Do not shop here!!!

funny how in one of the reviews they say they need to do an exchange in a certain amount of time otherwise the product goes out of season and can't be sold... if you look around their store you'll notice its very cluttered if they haven't fixed that yet. they literally have out of season stock sitting around to go back out on the shelves next year working here for two weeks was a nightmare. there was a pile of rusty paint buckets and gross towels under a hand washing sink in the eastern corner of the building behind their change room area. i was scheduled for 7 hour shifts and not given my legal 30 minute break, when I brought it up they acted like I was the problem for not asking to go on a break (they had breaks all scheduled and seemed like if I would ask for something different from what they scheduled they would get mad at me). Everyone but myself was allowed to eat snacks or grab a drink outside of their lunch breaks. I got yelled at and was told to eat/drink ONLY before and after my shift. They literally made me do all the heavy lifting while they stood around and watched me break my back, the owner phrased his response like "I'm sorry you found the job too difficult." I did get to serve David Usher... thought it would be cool... literally no one knows who he is! The owner is friendly with him though... went to school together. I don't see any decent/famous people being friends with him!

I would not recommend this store, it is crowded with very little space to maneuver (not accessible), the prices are steep, and you get watched like a hawk the entire time you shop there. What might start out as helpful service quickly feels like a lot of unwanted pressure. It is nice to support local businesses, but maybe not this particular one. Oh and the return policy is awful. Even next day with a receipt the best you can hope for is store credit. Never again.

We spent a lot of money and bought a good pair of winter boots from here and they totally did not do what the sales associate said they would do on ice. We went to return them and the owners would not do anything besides send them back to the manufacturer with our concerns after the season. Just brutal customer service, will not be back.

Staff were patient and informative, and offered me time to think through my decision. Good customer service is hard to find these days, but A-One knows how to do it right. I went to order a pair of Blundstones. They didn't have my size, so they measured my foot and ordered a pair in (I had to pay in advance, since they were regarding it as a special order - depending on the shoe, I take a 12-12.5-13). When they arrived, it didn't fit properly. They refused to refund me my money, even though they had done all of the sizing.

Excellent. Nothing compares to the quality experience you get shopping at a family owned and run store. A-One carries high quality goods at reasonable prices. Everyone is so helpful and it's clear that the staff really know their products. They went above & beyond in customer service which is what most people are looking for. That and the fare pricing puts this place at the top of my list. I would highly recommend going here for all types of clothing and accessories.

Coming back to Kingston always brings an inner peace when you arrive in downtown Kingston. What makes this city great is all the wonderful shops and cafes that line the historic streets in our beautiful city. One shop in particular is A-1 clothing where you must go if you are interested in outdoor clothing and boots. I have known this Family all my life and to walk in and see both the second and third generation working side by each was amazing. My sons best friend Calvin immediately attended to me as the rest of the family gathered round to say hello. Not only had he had learned from his parents but also his grand parents how to provide service and give proper advice. Thank you Calvin. What a great store and a must see when you come to Kingston. I completely agree with many of the reviews I have read here today regarding the rudeness of the staff at this store. I bought a pair of sandals yesterday but I came very close to not doing so, due to the attitude of the two staff members who served me. The older guy helped me find the size I wanted but then completely ignored me as I was trying to decide which of the two sizes fit better - he was standing right next to me but acted like he was completely deaf. Then, once I decided on a pair, I felt like he was following me around the store, exactly like other customers mentioned. The cashier didn’t say hello or anything else, other than to tell me the price of my purchase. He did deign to say thank you at the end of the transaction to which I replied “Yup,” which isn’t my usual reply but I was so put off by him and his co-worker. A-One sells good products and has a great location but everything else about the store is sub-par.

Prior to heading out on an Alberta mountain vacation, I went to A-One clothing, and purchased a Columbia jacket, a Tilley hat, Merrell hiking boots and breathable socks. I attended to buy a black Canada Goose parka. The owner helped me. Black was sold out so I tried navy. When I mentioned I’d like to try on the black before purchasing the navy - he got aggressive. He began telling me I’m lucky to even have the one I tried on available to me since Canada Goose has been making PPE and supplies are depleted. I felt pressured and uncomfortable. He said “no holds” “no returns”. I said I would need to look elsewhere as a result. He then said “good luck finding one somewhere else, you can’t even order them online from Canada Goose”. I mentioned my husband lives in Toronto and they are all over there. The owner then said... “Okay - you can go to Yorkdale and get COVID then” grabbed the coat from me, turned on his heel and walked into the back room. This business owner clearly has zero empathy for those who have lost family members to this deadly virus. (I am reporting this incident to Canada Goose directly as well since it reflects badly on their brand, and he told blatant untruths about the availability of their stock). Side note: I easily ordered my desired jacket online from Canada Goose directly the next day with free shipping, and free returns for 30 days.

We live in Toronto, yet shop for our children's shoes here in Kingston near our cottage to support local businesses. A-One carries a great selection of quality as well as middle quality footwear (and jackets etc.). It is a pleasure doing business here.

Can I give less than one star? I came in, asked for a pair of Blundstones in a size 6, bought them and headed home. At home I put them on and couldn't figure out why they were too big. Brought them back three days later, with the tags still on. Turns out the OWNER sold me a size too big. When I asked to return them, he refused to take them. He told me that "customers are liars", he "would never have sold me the wrong size", and that it was "my problem". With all the terrible reviews I can't understand how this store hasn't gone out of business!!

Very crowded store with difficulty moving around and too many staff members who were always staring at us, very awkward. The product categories are very shallow for an outdoors store and not much selection depth. Shoes seemed like their only focus. Better to shop elsewhere.

I absolutley love the store for the brands they carry but the staff. I dislike going in the store because I know they are going to follow me around and watch me like I'm a thief. Everytime I arrive I know what to expect but they have the brands I like. I purchased my husband a pr of $180 gloves and they are too small, I just noticed on the receipt no refunds and after reading the reviews I don't think they will entertain an exchange which doesn't matter because I purchased the last pr of large gloves in the brand I was looking for. I really don't think I'll be returning.

I entered the store and was looking at some hats on the wall. One of the staff asked me what my hat size wise. I was unsure. I don't know why he asked me what my hat size was because he never offered to measure it for me. I looked at some other hats on the other side of the Store . None of the staff came over and offered to help me so they could make a sale. The prices on the hats were average. I left the store without making a purchase.
