The proprietor is so nice. All of the staff genuinely care that customers are treated right. One of the signs on the wall reads: "Our guiding principle: if we don't take care of the customer, someone else will." Also, Don Cherry featured on the fitting room wall is a colorful touch. All of the decor, really, contributes to an overall family ambiance about the store. They make you feel a part of a family. I'm not aware of another Big and Tall shop anywhere near, but the selection at this store, well, no doubt about it, you'll find what you need at Gilbert's for sure. I appreciate them being there for us.

I have been shopping at this store for the past 5 or 6 years, as far as big and tall stores go, this is the absolute best. Because my sizes are difficult to find they are rarely in any other stores, and if they are it is limited to a small selection of product in the back corner of the store. The family that operates this store is extremely welcoming and serious about finding the right fit for you. I have always been greeted and had someone to go through and find exactly what I was looking for every time and always have an abundant selection of top quality clothing. On top of that, the price of tailoring the piece is included in the price and most times have had it done while I waited in the store and shopped around. This is a must stop store for any body. Customer Service and quality like this does not come around very often.

What more can I say about the best big and tall store I've ever been too. I travel a lot all over North America and I would put Gilbert's as the best big and tall store in Ontario for sure. They have everything a plus sized man could need. Everything except shoes. But it is a clothing store lol. The staff is very friendly and traditional. Reminds me of the way service was when this store originally opened.

I went to 2 places to find a suit for my cousins wedding which I had no luck finding. I was recommended to go to Gilbert's Big & Tall in Hamilton and boy oh boy it was worth it! The service was outstanding and they treat you like you're family, it only took me about 15 minutes to find a suit which fitted me perfectly! I highly recommend Gilbert's it will be the best place to find a suit for any special occasion

If you are over 6"2, you will never again enter another clothing store but this one. I'm 6"6, and I haven't. It's been a year (ordering tall sizes online doesn't count). This store is a unicorn. You almost can't believe it exists, but it does, and how Don't be fooled by the old store facade as you walk by; this place has been operating for over half a century, and yet they still carry the most current local and international trends. And there is choice! Lots of it! Never in our modern age has a store catered to such a niche demographic so completely. Those who are tall know what I mean. No more rolling up shirt sleeves. No more unintentional short shorts. No more swimming in clothes that are big AND tall, but not either or. No more wearing the only pants that fit you until the seams on your tush wear out (speaking from experience, here). On site tailoring as well, with tailors who know how to fit a tall guy properly. Apparently, NBA players and actors also frequent the store as regular customers as well, and I'm not just stereotyping. The two brothers who are the owners of the shop learnt their craft from the previous owner; their father. And he apprenticed over a century ago in Yugoslavia, where made to measure fashion rested solely upon the capabilities of the tailor. This family has been in the business for the long haul, and they know what they're doing. Do yourself a favour, fellow gargantuan. Check this shop out.

Bought a coat.Zipper wasn't working properly. Tried to honestly fix but bottom was not linking up properly. Told to bring it back when they were not busy and they were going to put a new one in. So far so good. Went to pick it up to-day and though there was no charge for the zipper, they wanted to charge me $25 for putting it in. Needless to say , I was royally p....ed. . They tried to say it was my fault. Just take it I was told. SO MUCH FOR CUSTOMER RELATIONS. Needless to say,I will not be back.

What a fantastic local store. They donated winter coats and other much needed clothing to the homeless. A real sense of community.
