My fiancé and I moved to Guelph last summer I’m the middle of a pandemic and I know I def Wanted to support local because Guelph is our home sweet home. The selection of wedding gowns was incredible with all different styles. I cannot express how amazing my experience has been from the beginning with these lovely women. They made my wedding dress shopping a truly intimate and joyous occasion. They have such beautiful dresses, it was hard to choose. I did choose a dress but didn't buy the veil at the time. My consultant called me a few days later telling me the veil I loved was on sale for half price! They held it for me for a couple hours until I could get there. My dress came in about two weeks late since Covid was in full swing by the time it was due to arrive. I felt very safe when I went back to pick it up and try it on again. They had thorough safety procedures in place. I want to thank you ladies for the wonderful experience I had and will recommend this boutique to any bride.

My experience at the Modern Bride was beyond my wildest dreams! First off, the space is absolutely stunning. I couldn't get over the architecture and furniture. I went to 4 other bridal stores before this one and none of them compare in terms of the overall experience. I knew as soon as we got there that this would be the place I would say yes to the dress! My experience with The Modern Bride was nothing less than perfect. My first visit was with Adele who made my first time trying on wedding dresses so comfortable and stress free. With the help of Adele and my mom, I easily narrowed down my top choices to just two dresses and I knew leaving the store that day that I would be back very soon to purchase my wedding dress. After going to another boutique (simply because I felt I should before making my final decision) that lacked professionalism and customer service I decided to make a follow up appointment at The Modern Bride. With the help of Hayley, my mom and my best friend/MOH I said yes to the dress! From the moment of booking my initial appointment to the final purchase I felt taken care of at The Modern Bride. Adele and Hayley provided exceptional customer service and were never once pushy. The one-on-one service is so private and personal which is what every bride deserves. Coming from someone who is in sales herself I have a strong appreciation for customer service and a genuine sales approach. These ladies know what they are doing and will make you feel like a princess! I will be recommending The Modern Bride to every bride I can because the experience was truly amazing! My experience at The Modern Bride was exceptional. From reassuring phone calls from the team before my appointment, to my stylist Scarlet I felt completely comfortable, cared for and supported. Sometimes the stress of planning can be overwhelming and Scarlet understood me and listened to me the entire time. I am so lucky that I found my dress with her help! I was not looking forward to purchasing a dress. I was imagining heaps of dresses and racks to sift through where the dresses are packed like sardines. My girlfriend booked me an appointment at TMB and it was a very pleasant experience. I was so impressed by the aesthetic of the store and their thoughtful collection of dresses. Dresses were not packed like sardines. Now I understand why brides are willing to bypass the dozens of bridal stores in Toronto, and make the trip to Guelph. I absolutely loved my experience at The Modern Bride! The salon itself was beautiful but it’s run like a well oiled machine. The consultant was very thorough and she never rushed me. She took us through step by step of how the process works. Every time I stepped into a gown she knew the name and designer. What I love even more is that every gown purchased, they plant a tree through their partnership with Trees for Guelph! The Modern Bride was gorgeous. The fitting rooms and waiting rooms were very spacious with excellent lighting and full length mirrors to highlight you and your wedding dress in the best light possible. There were tons of variety, not only for dresses but belts, accessories, veils, and custom designs if you're interested. I found myself leaning towards custom and my bridal consultant, Paige, was able to bring my ideas to life in just a few seconds! I was thoroughly impressed with their professionalism, eye for style, and friendliness. Albeit, the price point is a little higher, but the dresses were of amazing quality so I could understand why. Paige was clear and upfront about every question I had from styles of fit, necklines, to pricing it altogether. I really enjoyed my time there and would really recommend this bridal store! The environment alone made you feel special!!

The Modern Bride is hands down a really beautiful establishment. I love that they really delivered on the whole experience. The customer service I received was amazing. Side Note: The ONLY non-issue I had was that my friends wanted to sip on a glass of champagne while watching me try on dresses; however, the champagne they provided was strictly for the celebration of brides who made a dress purchase. Although a nice touch on their part, I was annoyed only because if I do go back to purchase the dress I like, my entourage who traveled from far places to be with me this weekend are unlikely to be at the next appointment. I digress. I would recommend this place to any bride!

After reading the reviews I was extremely disappointed with my experience. I do not usually have such strong feelings about a place that I feel the need to leave a review but I really wanted to share my experience. While the place is absolutely gorgeous, in my case, the customer service was seriously lacking. Firstly, when we went to pull gowns to try on, a designer was there for a trunk show. I was introduced to the designer and then the sale consultant said something around the lines of "But her budget is too low for your dresses so,". Very rude in my opinion. Secondly, I was expecting not fitting into the sample dresses because I am a larger person (around size 12), I wasn't expecting to have to hold up the dresses myself. The consultants apparently are not provided with extra fabric and straps so you are not embarrassed to walk out of the dress room having to hold the chest of the dress so you are not falling out of it. Also it is essentially impossible to be able to imagine what it will look like when the dress fits because I was trying to fuss it myself when looking in the mirror - there was no help from the sales person. I was even more surprised when one hour into my 1.5 hour appointment, after trying on all the dresses we originally pulled, the sale consultant made no effort to pull other dresses she thought I'd like or even offered the opportunity to try something else. She just told me to get dress. there was a lot of other issues but those were my main issues. ****UPDATE****The owner did contact me to apologize for my experience and listen to what I had to say. She seemed genuine in her apology and concern and I did appreciate her call.

I said Yes to my dress at Modern Bride! The boutique and dress selection is what led me to TMB but the staff and our stylist, Paige, are why every bride should plan a trip there! Paige was so knowledgeable and sweet, not to mention patient (as my family can get excited), she made me feel heard and understood when it came to what I wanted. Modern Bride exceeded all of my expectations and went above and beyond to make me feel so special. From start to finish, the whole experience was just soooo nice. I've always pictured wedding dress shopping to be a little stressful but the staff here are amazing! Tbh, I didn't have a lot of expectations coming in as I knew they had higher-end dresses and the prices can be a little intimidating but I ended up finding my dress with Alanie's help! She was so sweet and made sure that I am well within the budget I specified and didn't pressure me at all to get something pricier. I ended up falling in love with the first dress I tried on but Alanie didn't rush me at all and still encouraged me to try on the other dresses we've picked out just to be really thorough. I really liked that they let you look through the dresses in the loft so that you get a good sense of what they have and you don't feel like you've missed out on anything. Another thing to note as well is that bridal consultants do enter in the changing room with you to help you get in the dress (although I'm sure you can ask them to help button/zip you up after you've had the dress on if you feel more comfortable that way). I didn't mind that they're in there with me at all as I didn't feel judged. I think that's what makes this whole experience so special, I have my fair share of insecurities with my body (as I'm sure everyone does), but I felt supported and cared for the entire time. Finding the perfect dress was just the icing on the cake! Overall, I highly recommend Modern Bride! To anyone who's unsure, just try it out and I guarantee this place will just surprise you in the most wonderful way.

I had the best experience at TMB, and said yes to the dress at my first appointment! Despite the constantly changing COVID protocols, they kept me in the loop and when we got there, it was like falling in love all over again. The salon is stunning, and their staff truly make it shine! It felt incredibly glamorous. Alex was so lovely and helpful, and sought out answers to my very specific questions when she wasn't sure. They have a wide selection of beautiful off the rack dresses as well, which was perfect for me because of my shorter timeline and budget. I love that they carry Canadian designers too. I can not say enough about my experience with The Modern Bride. When I had my appointment, I had previously tried on dresses somewhere else. At the previous place, I was limited to only 5 dresses as a street size 12. My experience was so much different at TMB. I had a plethora of choices, almost every dress I pulled off the rack I was able to try on and get a good picture of what my true size would look like. Laila was all I could ask for. She really listened to my wishes, put dresses back I wasn't interested in and was my own personal hype girl in the change room. She also made suggestions about different dresses that weren't originally on my radar. The dress I ended up purchasing was one she brought in for me to try on! I tried on a few dresses last weekend with my consultant Taylor (absolutely love her). I felt no pressure to buy or to feel a certain way about a dress. I was able to have the first say in how I felt in the dress followed by my family. Taylor was always with me when I had a question about the dress and also gave us our space when we were speaking amongst myself and family. What an amazing experience! I spent almost three hours with Paige (I booked extra time having come from Nova Scotia) and ended up buying a gown that SHE had brought out. As a larger gal, I was overjoyed with all the tips and tricks to make me feel like I was really in the dress - obviously, not all of the dresses were available in my size, but I still felt very included and the staff was accommodating. The staff are clearly well trained and enjoy what they do. Paige took the feedback I had from each dress and was able to accommodate all of the little things I was looking for. My mother and best friend felt absolutely part of the experience, and we all had a wonderful time. Buying my dress has made my wedding feel real and I cannot wait to walk down the aisle looking SO GOOD! The Modern Bride will be the first place I look if I ever do a vow renewal. Thanks ladies!!!

This was my #1 bridal boutique I have been wanting to visit even before I was engaged! Lol Even though it was a bit of a drive, it was so worth it! Their Instagram content is ???????? ???? so I knew I was in for an amazing experience! And I was right. First off, the boutique is so beautiful! Gives me bridal Vogue vibes. That kind of level! From the loft with all the gorgeous dresses, reception and the private dressing room. Then the customer service… the bridal consultants are so professional and lovely. Very helpful and they make you feel like you are the most important person that has walked into their boutique. I was so nervous and overwhelmed, but Elaine, my consultant, made me feel so comfortable, listened to what my vision of my dress would be and made great suggestions! She actually ended up picking the dress I said YES too! It was the perfect dress for me! I love how many beautiful different dresses they have to select from. I said yes at TMB today! And surprisingly, it was to something very different than what I liked at another store. Both Katie and Jess listened to what I liked and made wonderfully insightful suggestions based on my preferences and body type. With gentle prodding, they encouraged me to try on a dress that made me feel incredible. They were never pushy but very patient and allowed me the space to make my own decision. Then, when I was excited they were so quick to share in the moment with me! I had a daytime appointment and felt like the only bride there. It was a lovely experience and I would highly recommend this shop - especially if you dont have a 100% clear picture of what you want on your day - like me! TMB was by far the best bridal shopping experience that I had! We're from Toronto, and it was 100% worth the drive!! Their selection was great, the dresses were in good condition, the sales staff were extremely knowledgeable and friendly (never any pressure to spend more/buy), and the store itself is beautiful! My consultant was Emma and I highly recommend her - she kept us on time, while also allowing us to try everything I had liked. I also appreciated that their dresses had price tags, so you knew what you were pulling to try on (other bridal boutiques we went to did not, and it was awkward to repeatedly ask). No issue with dress sizes either, they are great at making it look like it's your fit. Overall I loved the experience, and did find my dress! I will be recommending TMB to all of my family and friends for the future. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!!

WOW! What an experience. From the moment we walked in the door I was floored. The ambience was amazing and the decor made me feel like I was being transported to a high end boutique in New York. My stylist Alex was INCREDIBLE! She was knowledgeable about the wide range of dresses and was able to guide me through the experience seamlessly. She actually is the one who found me my DREAM dress. Me and my entourage passed over it three times in the loft but she pulled it out and suggested it. TMB was the second shop I went to in my search for my wedding dress. I didn't know what to expect but this cute little shop was exactly me. I actually couldn't believe that on my first day of bridal shopping (second shop) I had thought I found the one. So I went to a few others just to make sure I knew what was out there. Each time, though, I always felt myself coming back to this store! Eventually I booked my 2nd appointment and ended up buying my favourite one on Tuesday! I love the cozy place. It's so modern and chic inside. I love the one on one with the same associate both times. Sierra was amazing and I felt like she understood what I was going for. I also loved that there wasn't an overwhelming selection of dresses. I find that when there is too much to choose from, it makes it harder for me to decide. (All of the dresses are gorgeous by the way.) I highly recommend this place even if you don't end up buying from here, it's definitely one of the shops every bride should hit up in their search for their perfect dress. It's such a friendly, welcoming environment. Sierra even brought us some champagne to celebrate saying yes to the dress! So so happy I bought my dress here. It is a moment/experience that I will never forget.

I had the pleasure of performing at a pop-up wedding hosted by The Modern Bride recently and was blown away! The room they use for their ceremonies was absolutely stunning! Perched atop the 4th floor of a downtown century building in Guelph, you're greeted with beautiful views of the downtown core, exposed brick and reclaimed wood banisters. It's all tied together with a newly renovated kitchen and bathroom, marrying the old and the new, seamlessly. Edit: Alison from the customer service team reached out and they were able to help me buy the dress after all. I appreciate the follow up support! The shop is beautiful and my experience in store was nice. I have been emailing customer service back and forth about buying the sample of a specific dress I tried on in person, and I was disappointed to learn recently that this dress was being sold in a sample sale much cheaper than I was quoted over email. No one thought to mention to me that a sample sale was scheduled at all. Now the price for the sample dress is back up by $1000. I would have bought it if someone told me the sale was happening. I understand that it may be difficult to keep track of every email like mine (and I should have signed up for the newsletter) but we communicated multiple times about the original sample price holding me back and it really would have been nice to have been notified. I called and the store will not honour the sample price, so I will be searching elsewhere.

I said yes to the dress!! The whole experience at the modern bride was amazing. Every single person there from the receptionist to the consultant were extremely friendly and helpful. The facility itself is beautiful, it truly makes you feel like a bride. They have a nice variety of different dresses to choose from. The dressing rooms are huge and the consultant makes sure to clamp the dresses properly so that you can see exactly what it will look like once it's fitted to your body. I was torn between 2 different dresses and decided to come back 2 weeks later to try them on again before making a decision. The consultants didn't pressure me at all and they were very supportive and helped me pick the right one. The entire experience is truly unique compared to other stores. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

I’ve had three appointments at the Modern Bride because I’ve had a very hard committing to a dress. My second appointment was November 2019 and I still couldn’t commit but I narrowed it down to a designer I loved and came back today for the trunk show (July 4th) and Jess helped me say yes to my dress! Given that I had been there 2 times before, I have had a different stylist every time. I cannot say enough about the customer service, responding to emails with any of my questions, and online booking system. On my second appointment, I remember I repetitively tried two dresses at least 3 or 4 times each as I couldnt make my mind. I had a fantastic time here! The space is gorgeous with generous sofas for all your guests, high-ceilings, and tons of natural light. Everyone there was super professional, encouraging, kind, and knowledgeable of their dresses and designers. They also had a huge selection of dresses to pick from and I liked that I got to look through and pick dresses to try on alongside my consultant. The dresses there are also so gorgeous, and come in a ton of different varieties, so something for everyone! I narrowed my choices down to a couple, and they were able to quickly schedule me in for a return visit. I also really appreciated how no one made me feel pressured or rushed to make a purchase. I ended up getting a gorgeous dress during one of their trunk shows, and am so happy with my purchase! Pricing was super reasonable too given the high quality of the dresses. Overall, I had an amazing experience and would highly recommend this boutique to all brides! They went above and beyond to make sure my experience was seamless and the ideal version of "wedding dress shopping".

Absolutely incredible experience! I cannot recommend The Modern Bride enough. They run the place like a well oiled machine and know exactly how to make the day special down to every little detail. I did not feel rushed or pressured when picking and trying on the dresses. They were incredibly knowledgable but they also weren't snooty about it. My experience was so relaxing and everyone was so nice. They welcome you into the dress loft to browse dresses to pick out what you'd like to try on. It was nice because we were the only ones in the dress loft, it felt like they closed the entire shop especially for you (which I know is not the case). And then when you're trying on dresses you have your own private area where you don't feel like other places (cough David's Bridal) where it's loud, busy and there's a bride trying on dresses 10 feet away from you. With an experience like this you might be thinking 'Good Lord...how much are these dresses then?' and that's the best part - the dresses come in a wide range and you can find one at a completely reasonable price, in my opinion. If you're on a limited budget then you can even try on their samples that are for sale too. When I found 'the one' they popped champagne for us, which I felt was very special. I didn't feel rushed out the door or anything, or pressured to buy right away (even though I did). If you are a bride then you need to come here. You will not regret it.

I was really unsure of what to expect when I went to TMB for my very first experience dress shopping. I was blown away from start to finish! The building and private dressing room were stunning and Megan F. was such an amazing and supportive consultant. She coached me through the whole process and was really observant about my reactions to different dresses which helped so much when it came time to narrow down! I had the BEST experience at TMB. The store is by far one of the most gorgeous stores I have ever been to. It was SO worth the drive from Toronto. I love clothes and shopping, however I was surprisingly very indecisive when It came to picking my dress! TMB let me come in 3 times (haha) to visit the salon and select new dresses. I ended up buying my dress on Sunday with Allison, as my consultant. She was SO patient and wonderful! Made me feel so comfortable during the appointment! After I went home I was a bit nervous about the size I ordered (larger to allow alterations), and Allison was so sweet and gave me a call to put me at ease and walk me through the sizing choice (so kind and helpful)!! I didn’t purchase a dress here but I give 5 stars for four reasons: - THE EXPERIENCE: I went to try on dresses. Didn’t find my wedding dress but my experience was beyond amazing. I’ve been to over 50 stores (Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto and New York City) and it’s safe to say that this was one of the most pleasant experiences. The girls are very sweet and patient. The place is clean and incredibly beautiful. They have a nice variety of dresses. You can take pictures and they let you roam the dress loft yourself. The lighting is also amazing. There are many good food shops around too. - PURCHASING: I bought an accessory. The shipping was expensive ($20 — I live a couple of hours away from Guelph) but the item was discounted and it came in less than 5 days (they shipped it during the weekend!). So overall was worth it. - SOCIAL MEDIA: they’re Instagram feed is incredibly helpful for brides to be. They constantly provide information and helpful tools. They always show the dresses they receive in trunk shows, sales they have, etc. - SUPPORT LOCAL: you can really sense that it’s a family owned business and the owners really care! Props to you TMB! Thank you for being a transparent and innovative business in this industry! Will recommend to all my friends.

Words cannot describe how amazing The Modern Bride is - I would give more than five stars if I could! TMB was the first of many boutiques I visited to try on wedding dresses. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started shopping, but every boutique I went to after TMB just did not measure up to the experience I had there! I found myself comparing all the other boutiques to TMB. I said yes to the dress yesterday, after visiting TMB for a second time. Compared to the other boutiques I’ve been to while hunting for the right one, the service and care you get at TMB is absolutely unprecedented. I had Adele as my consultant for my first appointment and Allison for the second and was over the moon with both of their service and attentiveness. They are both so personable, so incredibly sweet, and they truly listen to your feedback. I was very conflicted between two gowns and Allison was so patient and asked me all the right questions to help me make the final decision. I’m so thankful! Also, the boutique is breathtaking. It’s spacious, very white, has a ton of natural light with the large windows, and is immaculate! The change rooms are big and the loft has a huge selection of gorgeous gowns. I can’t recommend this boutique more. I love supporting local businesses, and I’m so happy I found my dress at TMB. Thank you ladies!

She got to know my guests and made me feel comfortable as soon as I walked in the door. I will say I felt a little uncomfortable as the consultant was in the room the entire time, but she made me feel comfortable in an uncomfortable situation! The attention to detail is second to none. I went to several bridal shops in Toronto and Kitchener/Waterloo, and this was by far the best experience I had. Decor: Not that this is actually something needed for trying on dresses, but the interior design of The Modern Bride is so stunning that it has to be mentioned. It is absolutely beautiful inside, and really sets the tone for the day. They also have lots of comfortable seating for whoever you bring with you - which is nice because other places we went gave like 2 foldout chairs. Service: All the employees were very friendly and knowledgeable. Alicia helped us on my first appointment, and then when I came back the following day to try the dress on again I was helped by Jess (one of the owners). Dresses: The selection of dresses is smaller than some other places, but you can tell that they have put a lot of thought into what styles and designers they want to carry. It is still a great selection, just more of a quality over quantity type deal. I had originally wanted to try and stick to a budget if $2000, which was a bit difficult here. My max budget was $2500, and using that number gave a much wider selection. If you have a lower budget, I'd still give this place a try; but if you have a budget of $2500+ it will probably be better. They do seem to have frequent trunk shows from designers, too. You can keep up to date with those via their website or Instagram. Extras: When you say yes to the dress, they give you a glass of champagne - which is super sweet and fun. They can store your dress for you for $100, which I think is a great service. They also work with a seamstress who has 15-20 years bridal experience. You don't have to use her, but if you do they make sure everything is done on time. I haven't gotten to the alterations step yet, so I can't review her. They said she usually charges $400-600, which seems pretty standard. Oh, and they also plant a tree when you order a gown! Overall this was an amazing experience. It feels like you should have had to pay a booking fee or something, it's that nice. If you like the designers they carry (listed on website), I would 110% recommend this place.

Thank you Sierra & the rest of TMB family for an amazing experience! I first visited in July and was blown away by the space, service, dress options, and overall feeling of the whole experience! Sierra was so professional and helpful- she knew when to step away to give my mom, sister, & I time and when to check back in. I found a favourite and left that day with the plan to return in a few weeks just to make sure this big purchase was the one! I returned in August to see Sierra (so happy!) and my favourite dress hanging and ready in the dressing room for me to put on. Shopping for my wedding dress at The Modern Bride was the most amazing experience, and by far the BEST boutique in and around the area. In addition to the most beautifully designed boutique, I was impressed with the selection of their dresses and of course the service. At first I was worried the amount of dress selection I would have looking for dresses within the budget I had allotted myself, but there was so many beautiful dresses to choose from. In addition, the quality of the material stood out in comparison to other places I had gone. The service from The Modern Bride team was amazing. She was able to provide recommendations and pull from their selection based on what I had described I wanted. The owner, Jess, is always present and has always made a point to come speak to me to ensure everything was ok. Every time I have gone back, I am greeted by everyone there that is working. It is evident that they have such a strong, cohesive and knowledgeable team who LOVE what they do. Any bride looking for a wedding dress should definitely book an appointment here. They have a great selection, work within your budget, provide great recommendations, and make wedding dress shopping a great experience! Meghan was a great stylist and made me feel extremely comfortable and helped me style all my dresses and understand more about them. This store is beautiful but I was disappointed in the variety of dress styles they had to offer. Most of their dresses are very on trend. I was looking for something more traditional with an a-line silhouette but they unfortunately didn’t have many options in that category. It really is for the modern bride. That being said, they were accommodating in letting me know that they could order dresses on loan from designers if I found something I liked that a designer had and they didn’t carry. The store itself is beautiful and the girls were friendly. I highly suggest looking at their Pinterest and making a prioritized list of your favourites that you’d like to try on. It was very helpful that they had their inventory listed online. Keep in mind that you will only be able to try on approx 8 gowns in your 1.5 hour appt. and they charge to come back so that’s that. If you’re looking for more of a modest, traditional and elegant gown, I suggest you visit Kleinfeld. Another store that I had a positive experience at was Sash & Bustle.

My fiancé and I decided to elope in Italy 3 months before our trip. Originally we were just going to visit my grandfather there, but decided “why not get married.” I reached out to The Modern Bride and inquired about the possibility of still being able to get a wedding dress as I know most brides shop a year in advance. They were so unbelievably helpful, pointing me in the direction of their off the rack dresses (viewable online) I could take home day-of. My dream collection is Made with Love so when I was able to snag a truck show appointment, I went with the intent of just trying them on to fulfill my dream dress fantasy and buying an off the rack dress as my timeline was TIGHT. Imagine my surprise when they informed me I was able to rush order the Made with Love collection! The first Made with Love dress I tried on (that I was eyeing online) was the one I said yes to! It arrived earlier than expected, giving me time to get it hemmed and ready to go weeks before I fly over! Can not wait to get married in it Oct 20th! Modern Bride was the most magical experience I could have ever imagined! I had a total of two visits there while trying to find the dress and both were PERFECTION! The whole experience from start to finish was everything and more than a girl could dream of! Third time's a charm! TMB was the third store I checked out and honestly, the second I walked up the stairs and into the dress loft I knew my dress would be in there. Shelby was so great from the start! Her previous appointment ended only seconds before mine started and despite the quick turnaround from clients she was AMAZING from start to finish. The dress I ended up choosing was Shelby's pick and it was the first dress I tried on. She knows her inventory and she is so personable! Not only is the store design beautiful, all of dresses are even more amazing. They have such a variety of styles and sample sizes! Being curvier, I was finding it difficult at previous stores (even in Toronto) to really envision a dress that clearly was way too small on me, but TMB has obviously made sure to incorporate sizing variety for all their dress designers. TMB is well worth the visit even if you aren't from the Guelph area!

My bridal consultant for both my initial and second bridal appointment was Katie and she was fantastic. The ladies here are so attentive and kind. Modern bride is an absolutely gorgeous venue and the staff there is amazing and helpful. I bought my dress with them and had the best experience! Was so happy with everything until I went for my first dress alterations appointment. I was quoted almost $850 for all the alterations that needed to be done. this came as quite a shock considering when I found my dress I was told all the alterations that might need to be done were "minor". I ended up taking my dress to another highly reputable bridal store in the area and ended up paying $350 for my alterations and it turned about amazing. Would highly recommended dress shopping here, but going elsewhere for alterations.

Walking into The Modern Bride in Guelph is honestly like walking into a dream. The dress was a little delayed, but my god did the TMB crew go over and above to help. I went with a friend (not for myself) and was really surprised with the size of the dresses in this shop. Not everyone is a size 2 and most shops will have larger dresses then they use the clamp so you do not come out exposed. Majority of dresses in this store are bridal size 6-8 which is like a 2-4 regular. I just didnt find that very inclusive for the average woman nowadays, and I dont know if that's just the vibe this store is going for. I wish the shop carried more dresses in the 10-14 range. No one feels good about themselves when the dresses dont even come close to fitting.

TMB for me started off as a wonderful experience. When I first went there to purchase my gown it was beautiful and the sales people were so helpful. However, when I went to pick up my dress is when my experience soured. When I tried on my dress the employee noted that yes I would need alterations she then went on to say that they were all booked up so they could not do it. When I asked if she had any recommendations she said yes I’ll give you some for the KW area at the end of the appointment. Apparently the girl who was supposed to leave the recommendations forgot so she said she would email me them. I didn’t receive anything from here so I emailed them and the response was for recommendation is Toronto, London and Scarborough. She noted there were some in KW area but, for me to do my research as they hadn’t vetted any. I mean if you come to an establishment like TMB I expect a little more customer service after the sale. I Guelph and KW you don’t have one person to recommend? It honestly felt as though they made the sale and they were then done. What started off as such a wonderful experience ended so poorly. I think this could have easily been avoided and left me very disappointed.

I really appreciated her insight, expertise, and feedback. She suggested I try on the dress I ended up picking and she was so excited to see me in it! They even popped us bubbly to celebrate when I said yes! Alicia was also incredibly helpful, offering her assistance and checking in throughout the appointment. I came from Toronto to shop with my future in-laws and after hearing my fiance's name, Alicia recognized it and it turns out she was in every class with him growing up since grade 2! This boutique is beautifully set up. I have been following TMB on Instagram for a few years and have been looking forward to my appointment since my engagement. Our consultant was lovely, however I was very disappointed in the sizing selection available. I am a size 8-10 and many of the dresses pulled for me seemed like a 2-4. I understand that the store only carries each dress in one size, however a bigger variety would be nice to accommodate the average woman. To say the least, this made an experience that I was looking forward to ending up leaving me feel disheartened. The same day I had another appointment at a boutique and did not have this issue at all. I would recommend this store to carry more sizes or to make it public on their Instagram and website that they carry only smaller sizes so future brides don’t feel this way. Lastly, we felt a little rushed towards the end of our appointment and felt we were being rushed out the door. I was asking questions to my consultant which went unanswered as she was preoccupied on her headpiece.

Absolutely wonderful experience overall! From the beautiful location, all the amazing dresses, and the caring consultants, everything about this place is the most dreamy. I will never forget the hype that I got from multiple other consultants who popped in to see the dress I was trying on (I was the first to try it on and ended up being the first to purchase as well). You would think getting basically naked in front of another human would get weird, especially while everyone's wearing a mask, but the consultant laughed it all off like a pro and made me feel so comfortable that by the second dress, I didn't give it a second thought. I ended up getting the Eloisa dress from Before - Sarah Seven that I never want to take off, it's like wearing the fanciest PJs that have ever existed, so comfortable!

I highly recommend the boutique to any future brides - like other reviewers have said, if you don’t live in Guelph, it’s 100% worth the drive. The boutique is stunning, and the dress assortment is curated yet still offers more than enough variety. Hayley was absolutely wonderful to be paired with. I had my first ever dress appointment at The Modern Bride and let me tell you, I am SO glad I chose this place to go first... There was no rushing, no pressure, no sales talk. Shelby was outstanding, patient, and understood everything I asked her. I ended up having a favorite dress at the end of my appointment. She kindly measured me and told me all of the details should I choose to come back and order that dress - I felt like she was 100% transparent and I could trust her with the price and measurements. Before purchasing, I wanted to try on lots of dresses since I'm an indecisive person so I have since gone to 3 other stores and they are NOTHING like the Modern Bride. You will notice a lot more pressure, sales, sneakiness, and other things at other stores, but none of that here. Thank you to the full team! First off, the store is gorgeous! The bright, natural light really let's you take in all the detail of each, individual dress. I was kind of sick of trying on dresses by this appointment and only brought my sister. I worked with Jess who was exactly what I needed in a bridal consultant. She didn't oversell the dresses with the whole, "omg you need this dress, it looks amazing on you!". That tends to get annoying after a while. She would help me into a dress and then take a step back when I came out to show my sister so that we could make our own first judgements. She gave her input when it really counted at the end because I was stuck between two dresses. I didn't feel rushed, Jess wasn't pushy at all, she clipped all the dresses to ensure they fit me as well as they could, and she was patient while I tried to make a decision. I had visited two dress stores prior to this and the first store didn't clip the dresses and the consultant was a tad pushy and over the top. The second store I visited I felt like I was on my own because the consultant kept disappearing. I'm just happy the third time was the winner. Thank you Jess!

Their COVID protocols were excellent in making us feel safe, while still allowing for the full experience (being able to walk through, look at and touch the dresses). I am not someone who usually writes reviews, but I just had such a phenomenal experience, I had to share it! I could not be more impressed with my experience at The Modern Bride! I was feeling a bit down about my wedding dress search because all the dresses I tried on did not feel like "me." But from the second I walked into The Modern Bride, I felt optimistic! My bridesmaids and I booked the Opal private room, which was absolutely gorgeous, I would suggest booking the private room if it is available. Just made everything feel more intimate and special. We then met our consultant Sarah, who was so warm and welcoming! Sarah then took all of us up to the Dress Loft. I know my bridesmaids were pleasantly surprised that they got to come look at all the dresses too! Now, the Dress Loft...no words can describe how absolutely gorgeous this space is. At other dress stores I went to, I had to pick the dresses I wanted to try on online prior to visiting the store, and pictures are very misleading. But in the Loft, we were all able to look and touch the dresses. Sarah was great and telling us how each skirt would fall and as she learned more about my style, she pulled out different dresses she thought I would like! Trying on the dresses was a memorable experience! I tried on dresses that I had not seen in other stores. They were modern and classic at the same time. As I tried on each dress, I felt special! Needless to say, I found my dress! Going back next week with my mom so she can share in my amazing experience. Thank you The Modern Bride!

I had a wonderful experience with TMB. I decided to take part in a sample sale that was running over the weekend. After expecting a very chaotic day, it was way more structured than I had imagined. I genuinely appreciated how I felt like I had an appointment with a bridal consultant even though it was a sample sale. We did have to wait as it was first come-first serve, but this was expected and at no point was I rushed or pushed to speed up my process. It was organized so I could see all the dresses in order of my arrival so as to keep things “fair” and my consultant Hayley was very patient, knowledgeable and personable throughout my experience. I ended up leaving with a beautiful dress for a wicked price. The entire staff were very friendly and professional. Jess and Donna were lovely and you can tell they really care about the business and its patrons. The space is gorgeous. I appreciated the experience and thank them for making what was most certainly a hectic day for them, a positive experience for me!

Loved every minute of my experience at The Modern Bride. The dresses were so beautiful and unlike anything I was seeing elsewhere, and the samples were clean and well kept. Their "dress loft" on Pinterest meant I knew before going exactly what was available to try on from each designer and wasn't left guessing. The boutique space itself is absolutely stunning and Paige was so helpful and patient while I took two appointments to decide on my dress. Being able to order a gorgeous dress from a Canadian designer knowing that TMB puts some of the proceeds towards important causes and initiatives was the cherry on top of an awesome dress shopping experience. I would recommend TMB to anyone looking for the attention to detail that leaves you feeling good about every part of the process.

I didn't end up getting my dress from this salon but my experience was incredible enough to share. The salon is beyond stunning, located in the most dreamy old building of charming downtown Guelph. The staff was amazing from the start when we ended up at the wrong stairwell and they helped us find our way. The dress selection is very impressive and I liked their process with choosing options to try on. We were from out of town and they ended up making time for us to come back on the Sunday. When we had to cancel, they were extremely understanding and did not make me feel badly. I would recommend TMB to any future bride looking for an amazing dress shopping experience!

The modern bride has a beautiful venue to try on a variety of dresses. I did purchase my dress there ( and later saw the same dress for drastically less at another shop) however I love my dress so that's not the issue. I had a detail appointment today at 1 and we were a half hour early so we sat and looked at their accessories. After a few minutes we decided we would just take the dress and alter it somewhere else. We stood at the desk while an employee typed for 5 minutes without acknowledging us at all and then looks around my mom and asks the people behind us how she can help them. How rude! They also wanted to charge us $50 a month as a storage fee after spending $3500 on the dress. The owner did ask how she could rectify the situation only after receiving the remainder of the payment. All in all a good place to LOOK for a dress & then get it elsewhere because the service is much less desirable after you make a purchase. Sad to say wedding dress shopping left a bad taste in our mouths. ** UPDATE - the owner did contact me, basically reiterating what she had said here. It felt ingenuine & again only offered to help in someway after receiving payment AKA had no intention of rectifying the situation. Also read MANY similar reviews that the customer service falls off the face of the earth once you make a purchase. FUTUE BRIDES - DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR AND GO TO A SHOP THAT TREATS YOU PROPERLY FROM START TO FINISH.

The Modern Bride is nothing short of amazing, if I could rate it more than 5 stars I absolutely would! Not only is the shop incredibly beautiful and comfortable, the staff are super kind and knowledgeable. I had two appointments with Taylor. During my initial appointment I tried on quite a few gowns and Taylor was always quick to offer information and suggestions as needed. She always made sure I knew the exact price of each gown as well. I narrowed it down to two dresses that I loved and decided to book another appointment in a few weeks after I thought about both of them. At the second appointment Taylor was ready with the two dresses I loved before I even arrived! I was so impressed with how comfortable she made me feel throughout the whole process and I am so happy to have found my dress at TMB!

I had high hopes for this place based on the reviews made by other brides, but experienced the complete opposite when I visited myself. If you are a size 6-8 in regular clothing or bigger, I warn that this store is not for you. I am not sure why a bridal store would not have more inclusive sizing as they can always clip or pin the dresses to show a tighter fit. The other stores I have been to never had such small dresses. It was terrible having the consultant trying to pull the dress over my bum and hearing a popping noise because the size was too tight. I also found it odd that my consultant stayed inside the dressing room with me while I put dresses on. Completely unnecessary. I am capable of stepping into a dress and pulling it up on my own, and would only expect support to button or zip up at the end. The experience was very impersonal as well. My consultant didn’t take the time to get to know my guest’s names and for an already uncomfortable appointment, this was the icing on the cake. If it had been my first store, I would have been completely devastated and insecure!

START YOUR CAR!!! This bridal store... wow. Out of this world. Actually start your car right now (but make an appointment first haha) and get yourself and your bride crew to this bridal store! I cannot express my words greatly enough. First of all, the service - 1st class. This is the type of service you SHOULD be experiencing at every store you go to. You’re basically treated like royalty. And not just you, but everyone with you too. From asking if you’d like water to being patient and kind with you. The way the dresses are organized upstairs is an OCD dream. Each dress is sectioned by designer and each dress has a price tag on it. Surprising a few places I went to did not have this. Also another surprise was the price range for most of the dresses. All were pretty affordable and definitely there dresses are “modern”. The store is actually like a picture out of an interior design magazine. This place needs to be on the Canadian version of say yes to the dress! Every detail in this place had a purpose! I actually ended up saying yes to the dress and we all celebrated with champagne and THEY ALSO PLANT A TREE WHEN YOU BUY A DRESS FROM THEM. This was super important for me and basically everyone should drive down to Guelph because this place is a brides dream!! Keep up the great work ladies.
