Had been here a couple of times before and was satisfied with the quality of work. However, the last time I brought in an alteration job, she did not measure properly so it required further fixing. I gave her the benefit of the doubt and paid her beforehand. When I came back on the date she promised it'd be done. it turned out that she hadn't even touched it. She said to give her more time. I was annoyed but waited again and came back yet again only to find out that she wanted me to come back a few hours later! Now I enough was enough, so I asked how much more time she needed. It was apparently a 30 minute job! I guess she felt that since she was paid already, she could avoid doing any work on it. I told her that I would not be leaving without the garment fixed as it should have been initially. I left extremely agitated and never went back when I saw what an underhanded greedy lady she was

Don't let the shabby appearance on the outside fool you. Got my suit tailored here with the sleeves tightened and shortened, suit shortened, pants hemmed and tailored for a slimmer fit. Promised 1 week for completion and they pulled through. Prices were fair. The owners were friendly, helpful, and knowledgable. They haven't been receiving the "Best Tailor Award" in Edmonton for nothing I guess.

After my favourite merino wool hoodie fell into my 3-mo. puppy's crate, I thought I would be throwing it out. I brought it to Capital Tailors with the shredded off cuff and hoodie that had tiny puppy bite marks on it, and they repaired it so it is now a wearable, ¾ length sweater. I've also had jeans patched here, suits, dresses, skirts... They are always extremely friendly and do a great job. I've generally done repairs and dry cleaning so I can't comment on tailoring. My only complaint is I find the parking lot mildly anxiety-inducing because of the way it's laid out, hah!

They did an awesome job on my suit and were able to rush it for an event as well. Price is not cheap, but also not expensive. Only complaint would be the suit arms were a little tight for French cuffs, but the owner seemed adamant about me stopping by to see how it was (fiancée picked up) like they would fix any errors.

My wedding was Aug. 2020 and 12 days before my wedding I came to Judy super stressed out hoping she is able to alter my wedding gown to fit me properly without changing the style of it and thankfully she was able to! I have called around many tailors months before my wedding date and no one was able to do it without changing my wedding gown style a bit so I had given up on being able to wear my wedding gown for my ceremony. I had my Vietnamese wedding dress to wear but my friends told me that it would be such a waste for me not to wear my gorgeous wedding gown also so the owner to the store where I bought my wedding gown told me to go see Judy she will be able to do it. So grateful that Judy was able to in such a short period of time framed and I was able to wear my wedding gown for my wedding ceremony as originally planned! She very skilled in what she does and her prices are reasonable! She was one of my life savers when my wedding plans turned into a pandemic wedding instead of a normal wedding!

TAILOR FROM HELL. DO NOT GO HERE!!! I WOULD GIVE IT A ZERO STARS IF POSSIBLE. I went here for my wedding dress alterations in July of 2019. I made an appointment over a month in advance. Everything went ok at the first appointment. When the time came for my second appointment, she (Judy, the owner) called me the day before and told me she wasn't feeling well. I told her that was fine and we rescheduled for the next week. When I got there with my family, she said "I'm not done yet, almost done! I didn't even eat lunch!" So we sat there and waited. She then brought the dress out and it wasn't even half done, with half of the lace hanging off the dress. I still tried it on but wasn't able to take it home because A) It wasn't done at all and B) she had done things to it that I didn't want and never asked for (e.g. adding two mismatched size A and D cups to the bust... Looked really bad). When I told her the bust area was off due to the wrong size cups, she told me "it's fine!! It's fine!!" And patted my bust area and slapped my butt repeatedly.... Very unprofessional and irritating. So then we rescheduled again for the following Saturday at noon. When I got there at noon, she had forgotten about my appointment and said, "Why you here, your appointment is at 5:30." I know for a fact that the appointment was for noon because I had it written down. She didn't even apologize and told me she will call me at 6pm when she is finished with the dress. I waited and waited and she still hadn't called me at 6:30 so I called her, and she told me " I'm not done!!! I'll call you when it's done, in half an hour." I waited again and she still hadn't called by 8pm. When I called again at 8, she told me she was done so I went in. When I got there, the dress was still not done- the bust cups were still the wrong size and beads were falling off the dress. So we rescheduled AGAIN for the following Monday, right before my wedding. When i finally got there on Monday, there were still beads falling off so I had to wait another hour for her to put them back on. On top of that, she had somehow ripped the front of my wedding gown bag, and there was a huge hole in the front. When my mom asked if we could get any discount for all the stress and inconvenience she caused during this whole process, she immediately yelled and screamed at us without wanting to hear our explanation and took the dress to the back, saying she will call the police. Then she said everything was our fault since she had to do "so much work" on the dress changing the cups, even though that was entirely her fault. So then we paid the full price and she threated us with a raised fist, screaming at us to "GO AWAY!!!!" DON'T EVER GO HERE, all you'll get is a giant headache and harassment.

We started going to Judy & Allen in the early 90s. They were a couple of blocks north of where they are now and left because the cigar shop next door polluted the clothes they worked on. So I have had my pants hemmed there for 30 years. I remarried to a clothes person in the late 90s and she is proof that they can do much more than hems. They are very pleasant to work with, seem to be reasonable in price (they are the only ones we know), and do excellent work.

If you are wondering if you should go here, read this: Went here to get a brand new dress fixed because zipper is broken. The dress was newly bought, brand new with brand and price tags. Bought it on sale because zipper is broken. I have been to this place multiple times. My family and I loves this place. I went in and gave her the dress. The lady asked me how I tore the zipper on a brand new dress(because it had tags) and asked if I need to get it resized bigger. I told her the zipper was bought broken. All I need her to do was to change the zipper and do not change anything else, because it is a brand new expensive dress. Days later, I went to pick up the dress, the tags have been cut and nowhere to be found. All I asked was for them to look for the tags, because I need the tags for this brand new dress. They looked for the tags in the back. The lady came out and immediately accusing me of causing a problem because this dress had no tags on when I brought it in which is a lie because she made a comments on the tags when I handed her the dress. She was yelling at me saying all kinds of things when all I did was asking her to look for my tags politely. She kept saying I was lying and there were no tags on the dress and got more and more defensive for no reason. AGAIN ALL I ASKED WAS IF SHE HAS THE TAG AND NOTHING ELSE. I did pay her willingly, because she did fix the zipper. Before I left, I asked if by any chance she found my tags, please call me. She said:" no tags, you already paid. Why are you still here? Get out!" I have no word for this toxic experience. I have been to this place so many times and this is how they treat their repeating customers. Also the job they did on my zipper is mediocre at best. The stitching is all messed up and barely holding. It makes you wonder why the tags were cut in the first place. The moral of this story is if you really want the job done right or done in a specific way at this place, make sure you ask them to write it down on the piece of paper they gave you, so she cannot deny or accuse anything. Or simply go somewhere else that have good customer service.

Very rude people! Unprofessional and not punctual with appointments. Don't go here, especially on a time crunch. They will not be done on your pickup day, and they won't even let you know about it so you'll waste gas and time going back and forth. The job they did wasn't great either, I had to point out the obvious flaws on my dress on the final pickup day for her to fix them.

I bought a Hugo Boss suit from The Bay and took it here for alterations based on the store's recommendation. The place is a basement and likely in the tailor's own home in Strathcona. Read: Quaint, Neighbourly, etc The jacket sleeve was hemmed and the lowest button was repositioned topside in the queue. The fitment was good but all the nice detailed stitching from all 8 buttons on both sleeves were removed (button hole stitching). I asked why this was done and not replaced. The tailor replied that he did not have the equipment to re-do that single (topside) new button hole on each sleeve...so he just decided to remove ALL the other stitching for a match. I thought that he should have told me that would have to be done BEFORE I left the suit with him, and it SHOULD HAVE been made known to me before he took his liberties with my suit. The tailor said it would cost 100.00 + to re-do and he refused to compromise so I gave him his price and left-This was my 3rd visit as the 2nd one such found alterations contrary to my direction. I don't understand all the positive gushings over this place within these reviews other than perhaps these patrons don't do much business with tailors or they do not venture far from their front door I would recommend Capital Tailors to my ex-wife's current flaveur du jour or any person whom has crossed me ever in the past.
