I don’t like writing a non-positive review, but this was my experience with Stitch It. I brought a bridesmaid dress in to be altered. I just needed the hem shortened and the thin shoulder straps taken up a bit. The total came to around $80, which I get it, but it’s expensive. The hem was still too long when I picked up the dress, although they offered it fix it. However, during the wedding one of the straps they had altered came completely out of the dress. It was very embarrassing and distracting for the wedding party as we had to find a quick fix. For $80 in alterations I would not expect this to happen. I will say the lady who helped me was very kind and friendly.

I have taken three things to Stitch It over the years, and I have been very happy with the quality and service. The first was getting a dressed altered for my girlfriend. It was a last minute purchase, and we needed to get it taken in. We went to Stitch It, and they didn't have time to fully alter the dress, but they came up with a simple fix that didn't damage the dress, allowed it to be altered properly later, and looked good. If I remember right, they had this alteration done in a day or two. The second was getting zipper slides replaced. I had two jackets where the zipper slide was worn out. Instead of trying to replace the whole zipper, they check to make sure that the zipper was still good and that it was the slide that had the problem. In a couple days, I had winter jackets ready to wear, and just in time for winter to hit. The third item is a nubuck leather jacket. The jacket shell was holding up great, but the cloth liner was rapidly wearing out. They looked the jacket over, examined the sleeve liners (they were still in good shape), etc., and replaced only the part the part of the liner that needed replacing (even reusing the inside pockets), and charged pro-rated prices for the repair. I couldn't be happier with the service and quality that I have received in these three instances.

The zipper on my daughter's winter coat broke (the slider) and she wasn't able to zip it up (nor were we for that matter). After calling around to a couple of places who told me they couldn't do it for a couple of days, Stitch It in Carlingwood mall told me to come right now and they'll see what they could do. 15 minutes later and a couple of different sliders, the coat zipped up without a problem and I was on my way. They were quick, courteous, and willing to help me out when I was in a jam.

I bought a dress thru Amazon to hav for a photoshoot (for our 25th wedding anniversary). However, it was the last one left & too big, so would require alterations. Stitch It was the only place I knew to take the dress to. The lady who pinned the dress for me, was very kind. We had a lovely chat as she worked away, & i couldnt wait to see the dress once finished. I did call the store the next morning that they were open however (as an afterthought occured to me; to ensure the cap sleeves would not be cut across or sewn, when the shoulders were taken in (on the top), for fear of creating a centre seam in them, that didnt originally exist). However, i spoke with a different lady, & was met with an attitude that gave me the feeling she didn't seem to want to be bothered helping me. She said I'd hav to wait til i picked up the dress to find out (despite it was easily identifiable & I informed her what to look for). I'm 100% certain it wasnt the woman who pinned the dress for me that I spoke with on the phone. Their attitudes were as different as day & night. I had other encounters with the 2nd woman involving the same dress needing alterations (which resulted in me having to bring the dress back on a later date, initially.) I wanted & expected to hav the dress refitted when I went back in, to pick it up, but the lady who pinned it wasnt in, so I was given the dress folded in half over a hanger, completely hidden from view, under a white plastic bag (by the same lady who had me come back with the dress initially, on a later date), & I believe, was the same woman, with whom I spoke on the phone, the day I called back, concerning the cap sleeves. On the day i picked up the dress, i checked the cap sleeves under the bag quickly & was pleased to see they hadn't been marred, but what i didn't see, was the whole dress, til I had it home, & tried it on. Something I hadn't thought about was that the width of the shoulders were not taken in as well, so, they had the appearance of football shoulders on a vintage look 50s swing dress. Worse yet, the fabric, which was white with 1" red polkadots were sewn together all along the outside seams, creating a horrible effect with the polkadots. Looking inside the seams of the dress, it was evident it was quickly sewn up on each side, but not cut or finished. Honestly, I could've done that much. I was charged almost $50. for this. I was so heartbroken, I hung the dress as it was given to me in Stitch It (folded in half, under the white plastic bag) & hav never looked at it since (that was in July). It ruined our 25th anniversary photoshoot plans, as we never had the photoshoot in the end. My purchase from Amazon was completely wasted as well, due to this experience. I hav about a half dozen other dresses I purchased that also need altered, & the plan was (based on this experience), to decide if I would bring the other dresses there too, but this experience obviously impeded my decision to do so. I've held off on writing a review since this happened in July, but decided, being the last day of 2021, & the last day of our 25th anniversary year, I should let the company know how upsetting this experience was for me. Over the years, I've brought the odd item in there for small repairs or hems, & was satisfied with their work, but after this upsetting experience, I've decided, I would not patronize the business again. I haven't taken pics of the dress but can certainly do so. In fact, I haven't taken the dress out from the closet since the day I picked it up. ???? I didnt call the store back, as i had to pay for the alterations before they were done so i didn't think they would do anything to help me, afterwards. ????

Had to cut a hole in my car cover for the antenna, over time it started to expand. Took it to a few place to have the hole fixed and reinforced to prevent further tearing, and they wanted outrageous amounts of cash. Stitch it did it for $40, and I had it back in 2-days. Super happy

After waiting to be talked to for over 20 minutes, because apparently her conversation with her coworkers was more important than us (she saw us), she came up to us with a rude tone and expression and said, "What do you want? You need something??" And my husband, taken aback by her rudness said, "Oh well, I'm just looking for a quote to take my jacket in." She huffed at us and immediately went off, saying "The shoulders need to be taken in which is $100 there, then the back which is another $40, so I don't know!!" Shaking her head at us and being extremely rude for no reason. My husband said, "Well, I just wanted an estimate.. so thank you..." and we walked away. She treated us as if she didn't want to do her job and as if we were wasting her time.. ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE! We were more than willing to spend as much as it took, but I can't believe the way we were treated!!

St Catharines Store: My youngest daughter got married this summer, I had bought a long sequenced dress. It took me quite some time to find jus the right one and the wedding was two weeks away. I took it to the same place my daughter was getting her maid of honour dress altered at the Fairview mall in St Catharines, but when I saw the job she did on my daughters dress I started to panic that my dress wouldn't be ready on time or it may not be to the standards of which this dress needed. It cost me a lot of money so I decided to take my dress elsewhere. I called the manager and asked if she had started on my dress, she said no that she was very busy. I didn't want any problems so I just told her I was returning my dress and buying another one so I didn't have to worry about alterations. She started asking me where I was getting my other dress from and are you sure they will let you return it. She had more questions than she had a right to ask. I finally just said, I need to pick up my dress. She said well I can't give you your money back. I said, you haven't even started on it yet and she said, it's the policy that there are no refunds and once you pay with debit there is no way of retrieving it. I told her I was on my way to get the dress and I want my money back. I stopped in my bank which is in the same mall. They told me if she doesn't give me my money back that they could start fraud charges. My daughter and I then call for a security guard in the mall and asked them to come and witness the conversation with the woman. When we arrived at her store, she talked about how the machine won't let her refund money and she would have to call the company, she had no eye contact and was just matter of fact the way she talked. My daughter explained to her that we weren't paying her to babysit a dress so the money should be returned. It wasn't until we said that the bank will start fraud charges if she refuses to refund that she said fine, and would call me when my money was ready to pick up. It took a few days, but my money was reluctantly returned. I ended up taking my dress to Stitch It in the Pen Centre, where Dawn and her team were so nice and did an amazing job and for less money. Plus repaired my daughters maid of honour dress that the Fairview had done a lousy job on. It's pretty sad when someone does a bad job and then the customer is too afraid to tell them because they don't want to get the person upset and hear their excuses. I feel sorry for this woman, she always seems to be mad and not very happy any time I've seen her. If customer service is number one, then she really shouldn't be dealing with the public.

Came here to get my brother measured for a suit. They rejected giving us service and measurements. Even with me showing them how we got that same service in metrotown. A place named stich it and they can't give you measurements for a suit. Even when you spoon feed them what is their job supposed to be like. Would not recommend.

BUYER BEWARE! My husband and I came here to drop off his shirt for dry cleaning and 2 dresses to be altered. The lady who initially helped us was wonderful, she took my measurements and made helpful suggestions on how to best alter an old dress to be more modern. However when it came time to pick everything up 1 of the dresses was unaltered with the pins still in. The same initial lady was there and offered to quickly fix it and have it back to us within 15 minutes and sincerely applogized. My husband's shirt and the other dress were fine and we took those home with no issue. We didn't need the other dress right away so my husband returned a few days later to pick it up and when it was brought out there was a coupon attached for a complimentary service. My husband checked over the dress to be sure it was completed and while the alterations were done this time, the dress now had black marks on it and what looks like coffee stain spills! He pointed this out to the woman behind the desk, who was a different person this time, and she took the dress back, looked it over and told him the stains must have been there before. My husband tried to reason with her but she flat out refused to acknowledge the problem with the stains and told him he must now pay extra to get the stains removed. My husband took the dress and left and explained to me when he got home everything that had happened, only for us to also discover the woman behind the counter had also stolen the coupon! I now have to pay extra to get the dress dry cleaned at another location on top of everything else we paid for. Don't bother wasting your money , time and beautiful clothing at this location, you will only get ripped off!

I'd used this location twice before and I was very satisfied with the price and the service (fast). Yesterday, I went back to have adjust a dress (small stiches on site and bust line) and I was shocked about the price increase! $55-60 for hamming, $55 for those two small jobs + $25 for a small 3.5 inch open seam on another dress! I almost fell over, I was in shock. Anyways, I went to my 'old' place in Surrey (Central City) and they do it for $50 + Tax for both dresses! Don't waist your time and money.

Don’t go there if you want to get any alterations on anything that it’s not clothes or sheets! Went there to get some ridiculously easy stitching on a backpack, something that it would have taken less than five minutes, I know this because I’ve had similar stuff sewn by my 80 yr old mother and they wanted to charge me 40 dls. Again, five minutes would have taken!!

Went there to get my daughters zipper fixed on her winter coat and they took 3 days. Zipper installed crooked and they damaged the entire strip of leather that is beside the zipper. They tried to tell me it was like that when I brought it in and then they said it was cheap leather. For $75 to replace a zipper and they massacred the coat. I tried convinced them to give me my money back as the did such a poor job. They offered $10 off, I said no way. I gave $30 and walked away with my damaged coat. DO NOT GO THERE!!!!

I DO NOT RECOMMEND it. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. I used their services once before and it was good but a bit expensive. When I returned for another order, I was told that the person present was not able to answer my questions, measure me or take the order and that I had to wait for the other employee, who was returning shortly. After 30 mins of a wait I decided to and take my business somewhere else. On my way out I saw the other worker shopping with a friend in another store (the Stitch it logo on her vest confirmed I saw the correct person). She was clearly not returning any time soon.

The lady was so rude whenever we go there, we supposed to have a pants hemmed and she gave us this look from head to toe and said "She's busy and the pants will be ready in wk". Which lead us to cancel because we knew she just doesn't want to work on it.

Most of the time service is satisfactory, however the lady working today (July 27) did NOT provide helpful customer service. She seemed to be in a rush and was unwilling to cater to my preference of pant hem. She gave her own opinion instead of listening to what I wanted. I ended up going back to the store 5 minutes later to try my pants on again as I left the first time feeling dissatisfied. She appeared to be bothered and abrupt when I calmly asked her a question. I ended up getting a refund and taking my pants to pro-stitch.

Absolutely Terrible. First they tell me to come back a few days later after 6pm. I come the day after the day it was supposed to be ready and they haven't even done the work yet. Then I come a couple days later to pick up my $350.00 down hoodie that needed a new zipper and when I get it home I realized that all the stitching around the zipper area is loose and hanging off. I paid $65.00 for that? A five year old could do better. I normally go to best stitches upstairs in the Burlington mall but they were closed at the time. Best stitches is way way better. I will never go back to these idiots. BUYER BEWARE

First time trying this place and I was quite neutral about my experience. The quality of work was great, my suit fit perfectly after adjustments! But there were some negatives. First, the customer service was poor. I felt very rushed when I came to drop off my suit and the employee was giving me attitude throughout the whole process. Also, my pickup time was pushed back and I didn't receive any notice. I came during my scheduled pick up time and was notified upon arrival that my suit wasn't ready. A phone call would've been nice instead of me wasting my time and driving up to get this news. The saving grace was that the suit actually fit properly otherwise I would've been really angry since I need the suit the next day. Overall, I was satisfied with the outcome but the overall experience was not fantastic. Might be a good idea to call ahead of your pick up time to see if your clothing is ready.

The lady working there was awfully rude right after we entered into the store. I needed to get the job done, so was ignoring her behaviour. While we were waiting for her to finish taking measurements and saying estimates, she looked at us suddenly and said something really rude out of blue. She then asked a lot of money to fix a tiny thing, so we decided to leave. Never will go there again. But they surely need to learn one thing, "Courtesy costs nothing but buys all".

Craziest Experience! Hours before a wedding, a family member experienced a problem with her zipper on her dress and was desperate to find help. The three of us travelled and looked for places that were open, and fortunately found Stitch It. The woman there was wonderful and squeezed us in time for us to be able to make it to the wedding ceremony and fixed the zipper. Because of Stitch It's great efforts, we will definitely be coming again!

I think this place is great! I come here all the time and have been a customer for 3+ years as I usually do most of my shopping at Fairview Mall. I know there are probably a lot of other alteration places around, but the friendly staff that work here are experts that produce quality work -- I know exactly what to expect every time. I know the price point isn't the best in all of GTA, but the convenience of it being located at the mall right off the highway and me not having to drive to another place just to get things altered definitely plays a factor for me. Last Thursday, I went in during the afternoon to get two pairs of pants hemmed. I asked if I could get it done on the same day and they were able to turn it around within 2 hours. This was amazing because it was Black Friday week and they were more busy than usual. It was kind of a lifesaver as well for that last minute outfit purchase. I would recommend this place to my friends because I know they won't be disappointed, but agree that the price point could be better. However, for the little extra money you're paying, you get quality work and materials plus the convenience.

I can’t say enough about the care and professionalism of the workers at the Midtown Mall location. I brought my daughter’s silk skirt for alterations. We are from out of town and had a tight deadline. The lady that was working was alone and busy, with a lineup of people waiting. She took the time to ensure that my daughter have her shoes so the dress can be altered properly, which we got for the fitting. I don’t know how she did it, but it was ready for us the next day before we had to leave the city. I can’t say enough how much this meant to us. I will be bringing any other stitch it repairs to them and have already recommended this business to friends. Thank you to the lady working that day. She was sewing, answering phones, fitting people for their alterations as well as taking care of customers picking up and paying for their order. They are hard workers and I hope they are recognized for their work!

Ah, I have too many wonderful things to say in this review! I've been searching everywhere for the RIGHT dress for my ROM (registration of marriage) party, and finally found one. The problem was that it was too much fabric for my petite frame. After being told it couldn't be done by several other seamstresses, I popped into Stitch It in Coquitlam Centre and Mai was absolutely lovely. I could tell her level of expertise because she took one look at the dress, felt it and gave me a breakdown of what needed to be done. I also had a very short time frame, I needed the altered dress in less than 2 weeks. The dress itself is heavily embellished with mesh and beading throughout, and is a whole lot of work in order to basically take in alot of material EVERYWHERE (even the bodysuit underneath). We had to tighten the chest area, sleeves, length, everything! Mai was so kind and gracious throughout the whole process, weddings can be extra stressful, and so I appreciated the communication, skill, and speed, so so much. Mai got it altered in a little over 1 week which is FABULOUS, and I'm just beaming at how perfect it fits now! I definitely recommend Mai and the Stitch it location in Coquitlam esp if you live in the area and need someone you can trust with bridal wear! Thank you so much Mai xx

My son had a Canada goose jacket which was damaged (scratched and ripped) outside under his arm. It will take months to sent back to the factory and we need to pay for shipping, dry clean and possible repair cost. It only takes one week for this store to fix it and cost nearly nothing compare to what we need to pay if we sent it back to Canada goose. I am pretty happy with this business and their service.

I needed some alterations done on my grad dress so I headed to Midtown Plaza a few weeks ago to Stitch It where I was treated very very rude. I called them, hoping it would be better, and got a very rude lady who told me she "Didn't F***ing understand what I was talking about." As the first words out of her mouth. I decided to go to K&M Sewing in Lawson Heights and the ladies there were pleasant, eager to help, good prices and I spent a long time conversing with them and they were willing to do anything I needed done, happily. I highly recommend them, they're a family owned business and if I ever need clothing alterations I won't think twice about K & M Sewing!!

I don't normally write reviews unless I get horrible or extraordinary service/product, and this place definitely called for a review! The lady working there was so grumpy and made feel like she was doing ME a favour, when I tried explaining to her what I wanted she quickly yelled at me telling me that wasn't possible (I needed my jeans adjusted from the waist). This company's customer service and treatment is so poor, completely invalidating their work. If you're looking to get mistreated and yelled at, this is the place to go!

I went here to get a new zipper for my winter coat. The lady who worked there was happy to accommodate (I didn't get her name, but she sounded European) and made suggestions that I was really happy with. The price was about $35 (cheaper than a new coat) and my coat was done in about 2 days. I was very happy! The lady was very nice on drop off and pick up and was happy to do what I asked. I would use them again! I don't know why the reviews are bad on here for this place. Maybe they changed Management or associates, because I was quite satisfied.

I called Stitch It with an emergent request to replace a zipper on a winter parka. I was very happy with the customer service and turn around time of less than 24 hours! The repair is flawless and I found their email pickup notification a bonus. I had called approximately 5 tailors and this was the only one would would actually provide me a time frame without bringing the item in to them first. I would definitely recommend Stitch It for repairs of this sort.

Absolutely awful service. I came to this place to fix a small dent on my jacket sleeve. Lady took it first time and made a stitch near the dent, she didn’t cover it. She took the jacket second time and made a huge stitch on the half of the sleeve. It’s not even straight. I would better keep the dent then have this kind of ‘repair’. Now new Guess jacket is going to garbage STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLASE!!!

Terrible costumer service...I called asking if they could help me fix a doggy play pen and they told me to bring it in to take a look. I went into the store and didn't even get the chance to show them the problem and they immediately said "we don't do that" and turned their backs on me. So rude! Not acceptable especially in front of my son. They didn't even tell me why! Time wasted...I called in about an hour later upset and they told me their machines don't on a product like that...HOW WOULD THEY KNOW IT WAS A ROUND ZIPPER WHEN THEY DIDN'T TAKE A SECOND TO LOOK?! I told them that next time someone comes in with a special request they need to tell the costumer why they don't provide those kind of services. I haven’t got my pants back yet but I had to write this! You can get your cloth done anywhere in town probably but you can’t change your day upside down with a filled positive energy of Sorriya in any other clothing alterations store. I’ve entered the store just to ask price but Sorriya’s smile and uplifting attitude changed my day. I will write another review after I got my pants back. Thanks again ????????????

I've been now 3 times to Stitch It for clothing alterations... They are a fantastic locally run and owned family business who clearly take a lot of care and pride in their work, and it shows. The rates are extremely reasonable considering the quality of the work, and they've taken many garments of mine from having previously been baggy and loosely fitting to a totally perfect fit. Cannot reccomend enough for people who need to look sharp for work. Friendly service and always very quick turnarounds.

You could literally go through a woodchipper wearing your favourite pair of jeans and Corina could restore them to be sold again at the retailer you bought them from. All-in-all, she patched 2 pairs of jeans and fixed a leg zipper on another for me. The patches blend in SO well with the original denim I genuinely didn't expect it to be done this well and honestly I didn't think the one pair was even do-able. I doubt there is anyone more passionate about this particular service; the enthusiasm and confidence she had towards fixing my problems on our first encounter immediately had me convinced I came to the right place. I came here on the weeked to get new dress pants altered at the bottom to better fit myself. I was in and out in a couple of minutes and my items were done the very next day. After great friendly service i came back to get another pair of dress pants repaired at the bottom where the stitching had become loose. This was done in 5minutes! I went there to get my grad dress tailored, and the service absolutely sucked, she said that she would make it tighter and as well cut off the sleeves for $40, we go and get the dress its sleeveless ( which I wanted ) but it wasn’t tight like how I asked for, IT WAS A SCAMMM!!!! For $40, Never got refunded or anything, I’m never recommend that place to anyone, IT WAS HORRIBLE!!!

The staff here have altered well over 30 items of clothing for me and my family; from high-end suits to blue jeans. They are attentive, and provide *insight* into the appropriate fit and finish on your clothing - even suggesting when alterations are not worth while. The first fitting after altering a few Tshirts was horrible. The sleeves ended above my delts and flared out 1 inch. The sides of the Tshirts were also too baggy.The owner saw that I was not happy and reworked the items, free of charge. Now they're perfect. Excellent customer service.

I ended up not using their services and I still want to give them a zero. I brought in a sweater with a broken zipper to ask how much it would cost to fix. The women there are rude and gave absolutely no effort at all for customer service. I was standing at the window for a while before one of them decided to ask me what I need. Both of them had looked at me and noticed me but neither acknowledged my presence and just continued on with what they were doing. Something along the lines of a smile and saying "Be right with you in a few minutes" would've sufficed. But nothing. Then one of the women took my sweater and proceeded to de-stitch around the zipper "to find out how much work it would take". She practically destroyed my sweater even more and then came back and said "Ok it's going to be $35". WTF??? Thanks for destroying the remainder of my sweater and then throwing a ridiculous price in my face for fixing a zipper. WILL NOT BRING ANYTHING THERE EVER.

I'm very dissatisfied with my experience at Stitch It after having two Ben Sherman Oxford's tailored. The sleeves were made way too tight, to the point where they are unwearable. I reached out to Stitch It twice via the web contact form as their policy stated they will refund you and compensate you if you are not satisfied with the tailoring. I received no contact back and am out about 300$ from this experience. Amateur work; unprofessional business practices. Update 15/11/2018: I have received zero contact about my complaint, despite the response I received below. At this point I will be donating the shirts to value village and taking my business elsewhere. Update 8/9/2019: The manager who responded to this review made no attempt to contact me. This store is a joke!

After waiting to be talked to for over 20 minutes, because apparently her conversation with her coworkers was more important than us (she saw us), she came up to us with a rude tone and expression and said, "What do you want? You need something??" And my husband, taken aback by her rudness said, "Oh well, I'm just looking for a quote to take my jacket in." She huffed at us and immediately went off, saying "The shoulders need to be taken in which is $100 there, then the back which is another $40, so I don't know!!" She treated us as if she didn't want to do her job and as if we were wasting her time.. ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE! Brutal customer service. Went to the White Rock Stitch it to get the zipper fixed on a pair of jeans. I was told 3 days. Came back 3 days later and after having to endure having the lady look for my jeans for 15 minutes she tells me that she accidentally gave them to someone else!!I was told to come back the next day, where I arrived at 6 pm, only to be told that the people with my pants had not yet returned them! VERY high prices!! In hindsight should have gone elsewhere, but was under the gun to get a bridesmaid dress altered and had no frame of reference for cost. $96.05 to get a dress hemmed and one stitch in the bust!! I was told the high price was because the dress has three layers, but other bridesmaids - with the exact same dress - are getting theirs hemmed at a much lower cost in other cities. In fact, one of the bridesmaids has to get the entire dress brought down a size (which presumably is much more complex than hemming) AND hemmed and is only paying $75!! Wish I would have shopped around, but I thought, with a recognizable brand name like Stitch-It, I would be getting the most reasonable price. Now feeling ripped off and mad at myself :( Do NOT recommend this place to get your alterations done, would be better off supporting a small business if you want to be paying an arm and a leg!

I bought a shirt end of summer last year and ripped it along the seamline before I even having chance to wear it. I found it while spring cleaning and decided to take it in to see what they could do. The material was quite delicate and I wasn't even sure if it possible to fix! The lady whom helped me was very pleasant and told me to come back the next day in the evening for pickup. I was surprised she was willing to do it so fast! When I came in to pick it up I was amazed! You could not even tell where she had sewn it. I was very impressed! I have taken jeans as well as an elegant dress for a wedding before and they always do impressive work! Items look like new and are flawless! I would highly recommend them if you want quality work.

Had a suit hemmed and sleeve cuffs taken in. It was a disaster. Buttons were crooked, stains from what appeared to be from sweaty fingers on the sleeves of the suit, loose threads everywhere, never worn, brand new. Ridiculous price of $90 and it was a huge mistake taking it here. I do not recommend.
