I had a shearling coat altered here. It was my grandfather's coat, so it needed to be brought down quite a few sizes. The lady marked the sides very loosely and they didn't end up altering the shoulders, so the entire coat is way too big for me - my dad wears it now. They also tightened the buttons without informing me and simply told me to pay for it when I went to go pick it up. I'm underwhelmed.

Great fair prices based on level of effort for alterations, half the price of other nearby tailors/dry cleaners for hemming, etc. Family run business with old fashion principles.

Great customer service, reasonable prices, and great results. I went to many alterations stores before I found this gem and I’m so happy I found them. I brought an expensive Burberry prorsum leather jacket and needed to shorten the sleeves with zippers. It was a complicated design and they handled my precious jacket properly. Highly recommended!

I scheduled an appointment to make minor alterations to my wedding dress. I needed 2 darts to take in chest and a bustle for train. The rest of the dress fit perfectly. When I arrived for my appointment, the seamstress was not there and her daughter starting pinning random places on my dress. I told her I did not feel comfortable with her experience and I'd like to take my dress elsewhere. She assured me that her mother would arrive in an hour and she would know what to do. I waited an hour and when the seamstress arrived she took out all the pinning her daughter had done and marked the 2 darts and train pinning spots. When I came back 2 weeks later to pick up my dress, I discovered that they had ruined it. They ended up taking in the waist (which fit perfectly to begin with) by 3 inches and I couldn't button up the dress anymore. They cut fabric they weren't supposed to and tore the lace. The bustle they added only brought up the back centre of the dress (so high that my ankles were showing) and the 2 sides of the train were left out. It was shaped like a horseshoe with my ankles being being the peak. I have never seen anything like this in my entire life. I was trying so hard to hold back tears. They said they would fix their errors and wanted me to be a happy customer, so unfortunately I trusted them again. When I came back the 2nd time, they had ultimately made it worse (as if that was even possible). They admitted that they did not know how to bustle a train. I told them I was taking my dress elsewhere to see if someone could fix their damage, but they were trying to prevent me from leaving. She did not want to give me back my dress and they kept saying they would try to fix their errors. They wanted me to leave my dress there without taking any new measurements. I eventually was able to get my dress back (it was not easy), packed it up myself and forfeited the $50 deposit. I was so upset and was left scrambling last minute for someone to fix their mess and feared I'd have to find a new dress. The next person I took it to had to take the entire dress apart and build it from scratch again. She showed me all the stitch lines from Elie's and said she was horrified by what they had done. I'm posting this review to prevent any future brides from getting their expensive wedding dresses destroyed. I was lucky I found someone who was willing to put so much time into fixing mine on such short notice. Brides beware!

I am posting this review to prevent future innocent customers from wasting their time and money. I needed 2 pair of pants to take in waist, and the daughter pinned on the pants. She said she’d give student discount as I told her the service fee seemed like too much. Her mom runs the shop and decides service charge. I went there after a week (it was Monday) to pick up my pants, surprisingly the mom “totally FORGOT” about my pants. (I am not sure how it can happen.) She actually surprised when I got there, and didn’t even realize why I came to. I had to travel for 1 hour and a half to get the shop on Monday, but the mom said come back on Wednesday. I was so upset, besides I really needed that pants urgently, they never informed me anything, such as the delay or rescheduling to pick up, as I hadn’t got any contact from them I believed my pants were getting ready. Obviously they didn’t care the job they were supposed to do. Unfortunately, I made a mistake which was I left my pants there instead of taking them to elsewhere. The mom said she and I can meet up at certain place on Wednesday 7 pm. I called the shop on Wednesday afternoon to check if she would do the job at THIS TIME. She said they’re done. I arrived at the place before 7 pm, and she arrived at 7:40 pm. I literally didn’t know what to say to her because I was filled with anger at the way I had been treated. FINALLY she said “sorry” with apparent unconcern. She charged me $71 (she said I got the student discount!) for the service. However I didn't argue with her during this ridiculous event. I think arguing with that kind of person is not worth to do it. I did a little bit of research (including contacting other owners in the same business), had found out I could have got the service done around $ 45 or less, and obviously on time. This is a notorious shop in Korean society, unfortunately I didn’t know that. 한국분들 혹시 저처럼 인터넷에 대충 찾아보고 가면 이렇게 될 가능성이 아주 많으니 조심하세요. 돈낭비 시간낭비 하지 마세요. 진짜 다른가게 좋은곳 찾으셔서 옷수선 잘 하시길 바랍니다. 그 바지들 새거였는데, 수선하고 바로 입으려고 일부러 세탁까지 한번 한후에 맡겼건만..... 바지 두개를 허리 줄이고, 기장은 한개만 줄이기 (그것도 그냥 밑단 자르기만 하는 간단한것) 했는데, 허리는 너무 꽉 조이고, 바지기장은 너무 줄여서 발목까지 올라와요. 다시 그곳에 가기도 싫고, 그냥 71불이랑 바지2벌 버렸다고 생각합니다. 대신에 다른분들을 위해서 리뷰남깁니다.

I went to Elie's to have a dress fixed. It's a linen dress that tore along the seam. I had brought it do another place for fixing, which was a huge mistake because they put a massively obvious patch in place. In a last ditch effort to save the dress, I brought it in to Elie's. They fixed it perfectly, and for a very affordable price. I am so grateful for the beautiful work they did and am thrilled my dress was brought back from ruin!!
