I went to Wo's Custom Tailoring 10 days before my wedding after being continually disappointed by the in-house tailoring offered by the salon where I purchased my wedding dress. I had paid for alterations from my salon that included sheer sleeves to my dress, but the alterations were poor-fitting, mis-matching in color from the rest of the dress, and very visible. I felt completely uncomfortable in my dress and had no idea what to do. Sheila and her team were phenomenal. They completely reassured me, they saw exactly the same problems that I saw with the dress, and went above and beyond what I expected to help me. They effectively replaced and restitched the entire sheer side of my dress to make sure that the sleeves would match the rest of the dress (this included getting the raw materials from Chelsea in order to do so) and made the attachment between my sleeves and the rest of the dress look seamless. They managed to do all of this in 96 hours, including over the weekend. I so wish I had gone to them from the very beginning, and I am certain to recommend to any other brides in the future and plan to bring all future alterations to them. On top of all of this, everyone was so warm and kind to me--they understood the anxiety and stress that comes with the final days before a wedding and were incredibly supportive. I feel so grateful I found them. If you are in need of any precise alterations, please go to Wo's--they are The Best.
Great service by skilled professionals! Work was done quickly, and pricing is great for such quality workmanship! I'd recommend Wo's to anyone, and Sheila is a pleasure to work with!!
Motorcycle leather jacket now fits snug and comfortable..customer service on point????????????????
Wo’s custom tailoring is amazing! They helped re alter my wedding dress after a botched job left the dress bunching in the waist. They were super understanding and turned around the dress in under two weeks. Highly recommend!
Super friendly and fast turnaround
Excellent work finished ahead of time. Very helpful in deciding what work is worth doing.
Attentive staff and great work. A little pricey...Bit you get what you pay for.
Designer leather motorcycle jacket repair restitch shoulder- I took in my very expensive super thick calf leather biker jacket by saint Laurent to have them fix shoulder stitching that was very sloppy done by a previous tailor. In two different appointments they sat with me really examining how to fix these crooked and not straight seams done by previous tailor. After much thinking they found a solution and it turned out perfect! More care, detail and thought into my issue than any other tailor I’ve been to especially with this being a very difficult job. Highly recommend. Very talented tailor and very helpful customer service. A+ James petronio
I have to have slacks shortened because of a slight misalignment of my legs--one is about an inch longer than the other--and they always get it right. The local dry cleaning stores don't have the expertise to do the careful, extensive tailoring Wo's does. And, they are pleasant; give a deadline and meet it; and, given the work they do, I think their prices are very reasonable.
This tiny hidden-away treasure is a master of tailoring men's clothing, from casual to business to formal wear. They require a few more days, and the prices are fair (not necessarily cheap)...but the quality of execution and skill and honesty about what is a best solution beats all others.
I love it! My 3 quarter legth wool coat was altered perfectly. I initially purchased this coat with the changes I wanted to make in mind as I was in love with the extra long length that the size 42 provided even though I wear a size 38. I didnt want to show too much leg. the boots and a little bit of my slacks showing below the coat is more than enough for me. especially when it is so cold in the winter. I'm trying to keep heat in not let it out. I am also not a big fan of how trench coats and full lengths seem to swallow people whole. I wasnt sure anybody would be able to turn a size 42 wool into a size 38. But I was determined. That being said, I had the sleves shortened to exactly where I wanted them, the sides taken in, as well as the center hook vent in the back taken up to waist high. They did a phenomenal job and the coat came out really great. I could not be more pleased. The inspiration for this look came from the Rycroft Philostrate Coat from the Television Series Carnival Row (pictured below), specifically season 1 episode 5. I didnt include the two buttons in the back of the waistline although that may be something i may consider at another time. I would have just purchased a knockoff of this coat online but the one I purchased from Macys had the length i wanted, and a thicker wool with cashmere, as well as a more modern looking lapel. If you are considering having a wool coat altered I suggest Wo's Custom Tailoring. I will definately use them again.
Fast and timely help. No detailed measurement before the alteration. High price compared to the outcome though (if you expect for a perfect result). No clear quote, has to be negotiated, cash only.
Great service. Repaired a hole in my cashmere knit sweater - cannot even tell the hole was there to begin with. Also restitched a tag on another sweater and when asked to make changes to the repair, they gladly did it within 1 day no questions asked. Thank you!
Handed them three pants for hemming, and I cannot be more happy with the result!
We brought my wife's wedding dress to Wo's Custom Tailoring to have it altered ahead of our upcoming wedding. The staff here were so kind to us, and at the same time, so professional! I'd highly recommend them. Our time spent there was just an overall great experience. If you feel any hesitancy about going to the tailor, they will put your worries at ease very quickly in their no-pressure environment. They'll take care of you!
Super friendly and efficient staff. They fixed the ripped off buttons on my coat right away in less than 5 minutes.
Excellent at beading, lace, and zipper repair. I’ve been taking my clothing here for years and they never disappoint. I’ve also sent many pageant and prom ladies to Wo’s and the results are always perfection. They have reconstructed numerous gowns that have extremely difficult beading, lace, etc. I would recommend them for anything. Can’t say enough good things about their work.
I was so nervous searching for a tailor to alter the gowns for my wedding - Wo is absolutely THE BEST! My first gown was a sample gown - about four sizes too large - and there was a considerable amount of work to do. The staff was so concise about what they could do to efficiently fit the gown and every small change they would make so that I felt comfortable. They even made some temporary changes while I was in-store so I could see the difference. The gown fits better than I imagined and I am so grateful for their help, advice, masterful work and cheery smiles. I will be bringing my second gown here and any tailoring needs in the future.
I altered two bridal gowns at Wo's and I was extremely happy with the results. Both of my dresses were bought from a sample sale, so they were probably 4 sizes larger than what I normally wear and thus truly a big challenge given all the details on a bridal dress and the form, etc, but Mr. Wo did an amazing job and made them "my" dress when I came a week later for fitting. The ladies who work there were also very friendly and helpful, which really helped my trip from upper west side to upper east side much more pleasant. The price is very reasonable, in addition to the quality they provide. This is now absolutely the only place I will go for alteration- not even bother trying anywhere else closer.
Talented tailor! Have been going here for 8yrs, and now happily take 2 trains because this is the place that has earned my trust with some very skilled work. Excellent front team as well, I love these guys.
Wo’s tailoring is the best place in the city for custom tailoring and alteration projects. I have had overcoats, trousers, and jackets altered and the work has been impeccable and timely. I also appreciate the Wo team’s input on style, cut, and fit. I would strongly recommend Wo for all your tailoring needs!
It's really really expensive, but your clothes are in the right hands.
Everyone here is extremely friendly and helpful. Asked them to trim a blazer, skirt, and a few dresses for me and I was really happy with the results. I’ve tried a bunch of tailors in the city and I’d have to say that Wo’s is simply the best at what they do.
Wo's Custom Tailoring did a good job on my wedding dress alterations. I have a big but simple dress, and they offered a good price for the alterations. I had a great service, always with a smile and they answered all my questions.
The best tailor I have ever had. My clothes feel ‘born again’ when I wear them. Sheila and her staff are impeccable. She is more a friend now than my tailor. Go...you will be happy you did! Thank you!
I came to Wo's to tailor my wedding dress after seeing the great reviews. They were far better reviews than those of the tailors recommended to me by the boutique where I got my dress. We shortened three (maybe four?) layers of tulle and one liner, as well as the straps; we also removed and replaced some floral applique details, re-positioned the cups and added padding from one of my recycled bras. This was completed within a month, which I felt was very reasonable timing. The dress was steamed and pickup was a breeze. Sheila offered her recommendations and was also courteous with me whenever I had any questions or suggestions. A job well done to Sheila and her team!
The team at Wo's is the absolute best! Extremely knowledgeable staff and they consistently deliver at a high quality. I won't go anywhere else in the city for alterations. Great pricing as well.
I had a beautiful preowned satin bias-cut wedding slip dress from Chosen by One Day and only three weeks left until my wedding. Besides the difficulties of satin on a bias, the dress also had complicated issues of strange rippling across the lower abdomen along with the bust not sitting flat, straps too long, and long length. With the little time I had left and the difficulty of my alterations, I thought surely they would reject me or I would have to pay a major rush fee or high costs. I was also worried they might not be skilled enough to maintain the style of the dress. They warned me that they might even have to cut my dress at the waist to get rid of the rippling. Well! They absolutely exceeded my expectations! They not only completed all the alterations on time but retained the integrity of the slip gown. No cutting at the waist required! I looked gorgeous on my wedding day. If I need anything tailored in the future, especially one that requires great skill, I am returning here. (Note: Although they are awesome, brides, please give your tailor ample time to do your alterations.)
Very impressed with Wo's Tailoring on my first impression. The reviews (and need for suit alterations) brought me here and the customer service, attention to details, professionalism, and friendliness will keep me coming back; Lin worked on getting the right specifications from my body and took my requests as they came. I'm very excited to see the result!
Friendly, well priced and always great quality work. Hands down best tailor in the neighborhood.
Had my wedding dress hemmed here. Reasonable price and diligent work. One of the buttons had fallen off and broken earlier and they made a new one of the spot. Sheila is genuine, thoughtful and warm. Would continue to come here for any other tailoring needs.
I am sure they have done great work, as evidenced by the other reviews, but I feel compelled to share my negative experience. I brought my (simple) wedding dress to get shortened (two layers). She quoted me $350, pricked her finger with a pin getting blood on my white train. When I noticed it, instead of apologizing and offering to clean it, she rudely called me "girl" and said it happens all the time. She did clean it after my insistence, but it left a faint gray smudge. After I left, I got the alterations done with Hemster instead for half the price, and they do all consultations in the comfort of your own home.
I highly recommend Wo's Custom Tailoring! I was in desperate need of a dress alternation last minute (24 hours after calling...) and they were able to help me out and get my dress back to me the following day. On top of that, they did an amazing job with the dress alteration- it was perfect! I'll definitely be returning in the future.
Highly recommend Wo’s Custom Tailoring. I had two wedding dresses altered and did an amazing job in a quick time!
Shiela and the amazing tailors at Wo's tailoring truly saved our life. We were one week away from our daughter's Bat Mitzvah and the store she bought her dress had fully butchered the tailoring. We arrived at Wo's tailoring in tears and left feeling that we were in the best hands. They truly inspire confidence. They rushed the tailoring, managed to squeeze in two fittings and made the dresses fit perfectly. I cannot recommend more!
I had my wedding dress and my husband’s tux fitted here (as well as a long pleated skirt I wore for engagement photos) and they did a really great job. It’s a four person shop so the person actually executing the alterations will see the garment on you (this wasn’t the case at the in house seamstress of the wedding dress store) - Sheila, Lin, James, and Wo are all very knowledgeable and very honest/transparent and they take care to explain what they are doing and why. They are also much faster than in house seamstresses it seems. - my wedding dress was fitted and they had to lift the whole thing from the shoulders, slim down the whole thing and shorten the sleeves and length of the dress (because I’m very short and small). They struck the perfect balance of fittedness (I wanted it to fit me but not like a bodycon dress), and I am extremely happy with the final product. I had asked them about scooping out the open back an inch lower but Sheila talked me out of it because it would risk interfering with the structural integrity of the dress and the price would have to be high to manage that - I really appreciated her advice here and am really happy I didn’t go that route. - my husband’s body proportions are so irregular that we had to get a tux two sizes up to fit his shoulder area but it looked ridiculous. While not an ideal starting point, they worked with us and did a really impressive job making the tux look like it was made for him. Wo’s will be my go-to tailor from now on!!
Wo's Custom Tailoring helped me big time! I had a bridesmaids dress that was too small for me and there was no way of getting a new one. Everyone in the bridal party had to have the same dress and the company we got it from no longer sold the same edition of that dress. I went to a few places but everyone said they could not help me. I found Wo's online and saw that they were able to alter and custom fit a vintage bridal gown. I figured if they can do that they can work on my $99 dollar bridesmaid dress. At Wo's they gave me advice on what to do and altered it to fit me perfectly! You can't even tell it was altered or changed! It looks like I bought it from the store just like that! Honestly they saved me from a huge embarrassment/headache. They were super efficient and it only took 15 minutes both times I went to get measured. I called them a few times to ask questions and they were very patient with me! I am very grateful to them and their beautiful work. Spending more on quality work is always worth it. If I ever have tailoring needs I will most definitely go back to them!
Excellent customer service and everything was delivered as promised on a tuxedo which I had altered. I would definitely recommend Wo's and will be back!
They tailored some customizations on my deadpool costume. Came out very well.
Excellent work, customer service, and quick turnaround. I Walked in with no appointment and was helped immediately. I needed to have a bridesmaid dress taken in, and I was in and out within 15 min. When I picked up the dress the next week week it fit PERFECTLY, and there were no signs of altering...looked like it came straight from the designer. My alteration was not a simple one either, as the dress had a lot of structure to it. It was pricey, but you get what you pay for.
In my experience finding a good tailor is not an easy task, there has to be strong elements of comfort and trust. When my prior tailor of nearly a decade decided to retire, I was left reaching for a new one for some time but fortunately I found Wo's Custom Tailoring. Initially I just stumbled across their shop while I was walking on the upper east side, and I went inside and had a chat and came away with a good first impression. The initial work they did for me was some time later, on some dress shirts that needed sleaves shortened. Sounds simple enough, but the first pass via the tailor who worked elsewhere at my dry cleaners on a different batch of shirts was not a pleasant experience. Then I took the next batch to Wo's Custom Tailoring, and in contrast they did a superb job, at a very reasonable price. Similar to myself in the work I do in my own field, I could tell they were perfectionists, and again the price was reasonable... I was very happy. So then when more recently I came across an opportunity to acquire a new $6,500 Brioni tuxedo for a fraction of that retail price, I did not hesitate because I knew I could rely on Wo's Custom Tailoring to make it fit just right. You do not take an item of that high calibre just anywhere to have it worked on, you need to take it to someone with immense skill of a similar high calibre, who you have confidence with and who you can trust that they will make the alterations correctly. The pants required only minor work; however the jacket required an enormous amount of work including opening it up to make it fall properly, as well as the elective additional significant work of hand stitched button holes on each of the sleaves. They did this work on my behalf over several weeks. In the end the price was reasonable for the work that was required, but more imporantly the tuxedo looked fabulous on me and it fit me like a second skin. I feel very fortunate to have found a new home for all of my tailoring needs, they are extremely skilled in their craft and visiting them and their store is an immensely enjoyable experience.
Wow, what an experience! If you are wondering if you should come here for some alterations the answer is yes! I had a bad experience with another tailor at a different place before coming here for alterations. As a result, after doing a lot of research and reading reviews, I chose to come to Wo’s Custom Tailoring. The reviews were accurate and did not disappoint! For starters, you dont not need to make an appointment and they accept walk ins. Upon entering the shop, you are greeted there and given hand sanitizer. Once that is done, the greeter and the tailor immediately attends to the clothes you want altered. While trying them on, they check to see how well the suit/pant fits and what alterations must be done. After pinning and deliberating between their suggestions and what’s wanted, the breakdown of pricing, which is also on their website, is the best and they will try and save you money. After dropping off two full suits and two jeans they only needed a week to do the alterations. When returning and trying on the suits and jeans they did an excellent job. I even asked if they could make my jeans a little shorter and they did this in less than 5 minutes while I was there! After such an experience, I know that I will be coming here for years as long as I’m in the city. I don’t want any other person touching my suits. Once again, if you are wondering if you should come here for some alterations on your suits and pants, the answer is yes!
I cannot speak highly enough about the customer service (and quality of work) at Wo's Custom Tailoring. This is my first Google review because I had such an amazing experience. I had an evening gown with a long chiffon cape that I took to Wo's to get hemmed a couple of inches. I went in a Sunday (one of the few tailors you will find with Sunday hours) and they said they would have it ready by Tuesday (I left to go out of town for the event on Wednesday evening). I forgot to pick up the dress on Tuesday (when it was ready) and figured I would just get it on Wednesday night before heading to the train station. I didn't realize the Wo's is closed on Wednesdays (likely to compensate for being open on Sundays) until late in the afternoon. I sent a frantic email to the email address listed on their website at around 4PM. The owner answered my email in under 30 mins and drove from Queens to Manhattan in rush hour traffic to open the store so I could get my dress. I had the dress by 6PM and was on my way to Penn Station to catch my 7PM train with plenty of time. The owner was so kind to open the store for me and refused to accept any sort of tip - not to mention she did an excellent job on the hem. Would 10/10 recommend Wo's to anyone looking for quality work and values customer service.
Wo, the tailor, did the most fabulous work for my son and my husband!! He is an artist. My son had his wedding suit fitted and the result was so perfect that my husband brought in two suits. Now, he also looks excellent. I'm thrilled with how my men look!! They'll be back for sure. Wouldn't trust anyone else.
Very pleased with the service and outcomes of my wedding dress alterations. Thank you!
I was in search for a skilled tailor after bad recent alteration work with a local cleaner. I was happily surprised with my recent experience at Wo's. I had a wool top coat that needed the sleeves shortened and the tailor gave me two options for getting it done. They presented the pros and cons of each approach and allowed me to decide without pressure. I appreciate their honesty rather then trying to up-sell their service. I went with shortening the sleeves from the shoulder, which requires significant reconstruction, but I was very impressed with the outcome. The tailor suggested I take in the chest slightly and offered to do it without charge since that area was being worked on anyway. After further slimming down the sides, I am left with easily the most bespoke piece in my wardrobe. Although the price maybe higher, their skill and eye for fit compensate for this. I am grateful to have found them through yelp and will definitely be back!
I took my wedding dress here. They made the cap sleeves look even sleeker than previously designed. something I had not intended to do, but it made my dress even more amazing. Fast, friendly, attentive service. Good quality. 5 stars.
Big thank you to James who took my denim coat and customized it to my style. I’ll be coming back ????
Wo’s is excellent. I was looking for a new tailor in the NY/NJ area (work in NYC, live across the Hudson in Jersey) and found Wo’s. Excellent work, extremely helpful, willing to talk through different options, quick, and with fair pricing. All of my clothes will be taken to Wo’s from now on, even with the 1.5 mile walk from work. Totally worth it. Could not recommend enough!
Wo’s is an amazing small shop. I have taken numerous suits, shirts, and pants to Wo’s and I can honestly say I’ve never been disappointed with the experience or the quality of tailoring. It can be awkward dealing with a tailor and describing the alterations you’re looking for, but the staff at Wo’s took all my concerns very seriously and made me feel at ease. I never write google reviews but felt compelled to review Wo’s based on the great experiences I’ve had there.
Phenomenal. Great recommendations and service.
Excellent service, every time, and thoughtful consideration to the needs of their customers.
Excellent service and workmanship!
I had a great experience here, and would definitely recommend this tailor to anyone who wants expert, professional tailoring. This is not your usual drycleaner tailoring. I brought in a wool overcoat that was a full size too large, as well as a blazer from H&M that was too large in the shoulders. For both my coat and blazer, they took in the shoulders, narrowed the sleeves, and shortened the sleeves as well. I am extremely pleased with the results. Both items fit really well now, and even my $35 H&M blazer looks more expensive than it is because of the impeccable fit. I also had them sew the placket together on the Henley neckline of a jersey dress - it was very nicely done. Wo's Custom Tailoring was very reasonably priced for the time and skill involved in making the extensive alterations I needed. It was definitely money well spent, and I plan to get all my future alterations done here.
