I commissioned the team at Stewart Christie & Co. to make a kilt, waistcoat and jacket for me to wear at my wedding in California. My wife and I couldn't be happier with what they created. My family don't have a tartan, so they helped me select a tweed that could be used instead, and the result is a beautiful modern looking kilt, made with traditional Scottish materials. I'm based in San Francisco so couldn't visit the shop, but Vixy and her team helped me to figure out how to do my own measurements and everything fitted perfectly. A really great investment in an authentic kilt made by a historic Scottish company.

Opening the packaging was like a child opening a present on Christmas day. My husband and I found out we both have strong ancestral ties to Scotland and with that any time we notice anything about Scotland we either watch it, read it, or try it. Thats actually how we found Stewart Christie & Co. We were watching Men in Kilts and it was then my husband swore in his life time he would visit in person and buy a suit. So here we are with the next best thing. A beautiful laden green flat cap i ordered here in the US. Thank you so much for the beautiful cap and the thorough packaging. Our Friday is brightened with this piece my husband will surely treasure.

I visited Stewart Christie in August this year to buy my son his first suit. The atmosphere in the store was perfect. It oozes class and style. The gentlemen who assisted my son and I were very knowledgeable and skilled. They fitted my son into a stunning 3 piece suit. It required some tailoring so we came back a week later to pick it up and the fit was perfect. We couldn’t be happier. During this visit I met Vixy who let me know they also did women’s tailoring and that she had in fact designed the Jacket I was wearing that day. Vixy then directed me downstairs where I was expertly measured up for a bespoke coat for Australian conditions. The coat is cashmere, light weight and exactly what I asked for. The quality was top notch. Vixy was so welcoming and friendly. I would thoroughly recommend Stewart Christie if you are in Edinburgh. Every part of the experience was a delight.

I was walking by Stewart Christie during a rainstorm in 2012 and my cheap rain boots sprung a leak - the staff were very helpful and recommended some high quality wellies that have held up well over the past 6+ years. I haven't been let down by this shop since; I'd recommend it to anyone who values quality, durability and a sense of place. It's worth stopping by even just to be inspired by the glass cabinets that mix antiques with elegant, locally-sourced accessories. A go-to for gifts as well as classics that will last for years to come.

I just wanted to give an account of my experience. I contacted by mail Daniel who gave me all the necessary information before I went to Edinburgh. There, I met him and I chose my tartan from the incredible amount of possibilities among standard and old ones ! I want to highlight here, the fantastic welcoming we received, the pieces of advice I received and the warmth with which everything is handled. Many thanks to the team and especially to Daniel . The kilt was sent to my place in France and believe me it is absolutely high-end quality for a nice experience !

Let me start by saying I find reviews that provide the pros—alongside the cons—to be the most helpful. I came to Stewart Christie & Co. in search of a tweed wedding suit, but to clarify, they aren’t limited to merely traditional, three-piece suit options. It may seem contradictory, but all aspects of my experience considered, Stewart Christie & Co. are nothing less than exceptional. What distinguishes a company from the rest is how they treat me, the buyer. From the first day to the last, all the staff were courteous, professional, knowledgeable and personable. Every question I had was met with patience, care, and answered to well-beyond my satisfaction. They treated me like an actual human being, not just a number or bank account; furthermore, they even went the extra mile to facilitate a smooth experience by solving problems that weren’t theirs to begin with! Two examples: 1) On two separate occasions, they provided me sample fabric to bring around to other shops so I could match up my suit colours with ties, shoes and bridal party colours. 2) On my last day I mentioned in passing how I’ve struggled to find a particular tartan pocket square. To my great surprise, they agreed to make one for me, free-of-charge. The shop was clean and classy, with an extensive range of high-quality fabrics at their disposal. Depending on your price range, they offer stock suits, made-to-measure and in-house bespoke options—and, as expected, then can perform all alterations to your liking. In addition, they sell a variety of ties, bow ties, braces, pocket squares and much more. I conclude where I began, Stewart Christie & Co. are exceptional; I highly recommend going to them for all your suit and tailoring needs, or if you’re simply in search of a quality suit in the Edinburgh area.

Stopped in to Stewart Christie's in search of some dog walking boots. I am ashamed to say that I had some pre-conceptions about what the shop would be like and they were all wrong. Victoria and Dan are incredibly helpful and the shop was full of beautifully crafted, high quality, Scottish clothing. There were beautifully tailored tweed coats and jackets, fabulous tartan fabrics alongside the traditional outdoor wear. This is a gem of a shop.

Whilst the shops quality of products is of a high standard I found having to wait nearly 12 weeks for my waistcoat to not be the best service. Given many excuses regarding staff difficulties wore thin. It was thanks to the service of Vixy that I finally received my new waistcoat.

This is truly a first class bespoke tailoring icon that has been around for 300 years or so (yes, that's right) -- so they're doing things right. Stewart Christie is, hands down, one of the finest tailor shops I've ever been too. Beautiful, one of a kind designs and quality fabrics (tweed, tartan and more). And they will custom fit, or design, any piece to your liking. I can't wear any of my pieces without getting compliments! It's a wonderful problem to have. Be sure to ask for Vixy -- she is co-owner, designer, tailor and an absolute dream to work with. Vixy's customer service is unmatched and she will make you feel right at home with her warm smile and cheerful spirit! To say that Daniel Fearn has the most appalling condescending rude attitude would be a massive understatement. I was seeking to have garments made from valuable highgrade military Black Watch tartan inherited from my father who was Master Tailor to the Scots Guards. Mr Fearn's attitude was one of extreme condescension. As if I wasn't worth his time and effort. He blamed his decrepit telephone system for my call being dropped more than 4 times and clearly doesn't bother to take the time to read his emails. I am actually relieved that I'm not going to be putting my highly valuable tartan into his hands because if that's the way he treats new clients, god knows how he would treat my tartan. In my experience that kind of attitude is usually a reflection of work ethics. The man and his equally rude staff clearly suffer from delusions of grandeur! Lucky escape me thinks!

Stewart Christie designed and made my kilt outfit for my wedding and I cannot recommend them highly enough. From start to finish their service was first class and I couldn't have been happier with my outfit. They managed to source a rare tartan for my kilt and really listened to the kind of look I wanted to go for whilst incorporating their own expertise and advising me accordingly. Vixy and Dan were fantastic and an absolute pleasure to deal with. On our last day in Scotland, my husband and I made a visit we will never forget to Stewart Christie and Co.. The hand-woven tweeds there are divine. Their eye for detailing and classic designs is impeccable. It was fascinating to be shown samples of early tweed patterns; a rare pleasure to appreciate the continuity of a three hundred year old business. Warm elegant service, rendered that afternoon by owners, Daniel and Victoria, made us feel like royalty and family all at once. My husband’s new jacket and my gillet arrived just in time for his 70th birthday. Both pieces are absolutely stunning. He put it perfectly: “Now I won’t go to any other tailor.” Same for me!

Fantastic service! I saw the reviews and that they had a ladies "made to measure" and was excited to go and get a well fit jacket (or 2 or 3). Vixy kept the store open late and tended to my every question and request. it was like stepping back in time. They have quality tweeds, designs and care for their customers!
