I got my wedding dress altered here and was referred by the bridal shop where I bought my gown. I was accommodated even though we were living overseas at the time and they completed all alterations within days before the wedding, which was such a relief. The dress turned out to be a perfect fit with the exception of the hem line. She explained that a touch longer looks nicer and I agreed but the evening of my wedding I kept tripping on my dress when it was bustled, so I had to remove my shoes. And if you looked closely at photos, the dress is bunched above the shoes which didn't look ideal. There was also a small portion of beading missing on one of my straps. I should have looked over the dress more carefully and walked/danced in the dress with the train both down and bustled, so partially my fault. I just didn't feel the price was justified (+$500) when I felt a bit let down on the total outcome.

On my third wedding anniversary I'm still reflecting on the poor service I received from Ingenuity Couture. I had only 8 weeks to get my dress altered and was assured that it was doable. Minimal progress was made each fitting and by my "last fitting" by dress wasn't even close to being finished. My mother and bridesmaids were all there and witnessed other customers come in and be turned away, saying their items weren't finished either. Angelika assured me she would work on my dress all night as I had to leave town to travel to my wedding destination 36 hours later. The following day was a brides walk through hell. My phone calls were ignored all day and I had to call at least 50 times before her husband answered the phone. I was lied to that she was sick and no update on my dress was given. When she finally agreed to come to her shop to give me my dress she wouldn't let anyone in the store and threatened to rip my dress apart if we tried to come in. We almost had to call the cops before she finally let just myself in the shop to get my dress. I asked for a refund and was rejected. I left sobbing and heart broken that a week before my wedding my dress was nowhere near finished. We took the dress to a seamstress in Washington who fixed my dress in two days. She informed me the stitching of the few pieces Angelika had added in my dress were uneven and the front piece of lace added to my dress was glued on. I literally watched her rip that piece of lace off like a bandaid. It was a miracle that I was able to get my dress the way I wanted it in such a short amount of time. I will never, ever set foot in Ingenuity Couture again and continue to discourage bridal friends not to take their important items there.

Angelika and her staff were simply amazing! Recently I had my wedding dress custom designed by a different seamstress and she didn't do a very good job. She didn't make the top sweetheart style as I asked for, there were points where there shouldn't have been, my bra cups weren't even sewn into my dress and there was no liner, etc. She made some bad mistakes.Thankfully, I was referred to Ingenuity Couture and Angelika by a college who had alterations done by Angelika to her wedding dress. I was short on time as it was 3 weeks out from our wedding day and Angelika fit me in, made the adjustments and had my dress looking fabulous in under a week!!! They did their job and that’s what matters but if you care about having a pleasant experience would not recommend. The two ladies that work there are very rude. When I wanted them to simply alter my straps they insisted the extra alterations were not necessary even though I couldn’t move my arms. I’m glad I further insisted to get them altered don’t go here.

Hook and eye broke on my wedding day, and my dress rode up to my collar bones after wearing it for 5 minutes. $500 alteration. Half my photos are unusable because of these two things, and I'm absolutely disappointed.

I got my wedding dress altered here and had excellent, supportive service that I was happy with. A year later, I got a bridesmaid dress altered and had a very negative experience. I had to wonder if this was because it was a less significant/costly garment. I am currently looking to get alterations on another bridesmaid dress and have decided not to return given how poorly I felt after my last visit.

After 8 wks and $500, my daughters dress still did not fit, the sweetheart neckline was uneven (higher on left than right, with uneven border under left arm), bustle of underskirt was done with straight pins, and underskirt was only anchored to overskirt in one spot vs two. VERY disappointing!!!! We had only 5 days before our flight south for the destination wedding and my daughter was in tears! After some quick research online and a few emails, we found our alterations angel!!! Luckily, in only 4 days, West Hills Alterations was able to rescue this dress disaster in time for the wedding, and for half the price!!!! We DO NOT recommend Ingenuity Couture, and feel that West Hills Alterations is FANTASTIC!!!!

I have been coming here for several fittings for my wedding dress, on the recommendation of my best friend, who also had her dress altered there. I don't understand the negative reviews, really. The one-star reviews seem to be coming from people who don't understand what is possible to obtain from a series of alterations, or how fabric works. The women here are friendly, sweet, and knowledgable. They take a great deal of pride in their work, and have been very careful to make sure my wedding dress is perfect for my big day. I have a few dresses that need a few tweaks to fit properly, and I will 100% be taking them here.

I am not usually one to post online reviews or complaints but in this case I would feel like I was letting other brides walk into a very disappointing situation if I didn’t. Angelika at Ingenuity Couture is a seamstress recommended to me by Frocks where I bought my first wedding gown. I took it in to her with over a month before my wedding (thank goodness!) thinking it just needed to be hemmed. Angelika talked me into tapering the bodice, and I agreed since she is the expert. She also told me on my first visit that we would put in cups, a piece of boning in the center of the bodice and hem it. When I went back a week later, the only thing that had been completed was the tapering, however now there was a large pucker under my bust that had not been there before. Angelika assured me that this would be resolved with putting in cups and boning and not to worry. I should come back in two weeks and the dress will be ready to go home. On the day I was to pick it up, I arrived at my appointment, where I was made to wait, just like the two times before while she herded a crowd of graduates and brides into the change rooms, where you can hear her rushing them to speed up the process. This time my dress had been hemmed, cups had been whip stitched onto the INSIDE of the dress, not under the lining, cups that were way too small but as Angelika assured me “there is only one size of cups”. There was no boning and still a huge pucker in the centre of my dress. I asked her about this and she said she could do the boning while I waited, and she did in 5 minutes, sewing it through all of the layers of the dress. This resulted in the ruching on the front of my dress becoming wavy and distorted the entire top of my dress. I showed Angelika a before picture and compared it to the after and she continued to try to justify the changes she had made. Ultimately I took my dress elsewhere to be seen by another seamstress with 40 years of experience who discovered that my dress was taken in at the front centre which should never be done, the waist band had been cut and not sewn back together and she had shortened the bodice to try to fix her errors, leaving it asymmetrical with one side of the bodice a full inch longer than the other. Angelika is highly recommended and has a busy operation, but it is too busy. She doesn’t answer the phone, she forgets appointments, she rushes through consultations (she only ever put two pins in my dress) and she doesn’t show care or concern for the dresses or for her clients. Since this experience, I have had to buy a new dress off the rack 9 days before my wedding, and I have spoken to two other brides that have had the same experience. Wedding dresses are valuable, both monetarily and emotionally. Saying “yes to the dress” is a big deal and then to have that dress destroyed days before your wedding is traumatic and I share this just so that other brides might make the choice to go elsewhere to avoid the experience that I had.

I am very pleased with the work that Angelika and her staff did on my wedding dress. I got my dress off the rack, and it was a size or so too big, and it was much too long. Once the staff at Ingenuity Couture were finished with the dress over 3 appointments, the dress fit me perfectly! It Is so incredibly comfortable, the bustle is lovely, and has two options for how I can lift the train. The ladies are incredibly efficient, and very much too the point which was fantastic. The price was also reasonable for the incredible quality of work that you receive. I highly recommend this business to anyone in need of alterations to their dress.

This shop was referred to my by the bridal boutique. I had two dresses that needed alterations, my bridal dress and a party dress (which was covered in sequence). I dropped my party dress off about three months before the event. When I finally received it and took it out of the bag, I heard the sequence hitting the floor. The left side of the dress was not finished and there was patches with no sequence at all, and sequence falling off.I brought the dress back to be finished a week before leaving for the event! It was stressful. I also took my wedding dress there. The dress was too tight I couldn't breath on my wedding day. Also, during my reception I felt something poking me... I lifted up the dress to find she didn't hem the dress and it was still pinned! I took the pins out and the dress was to long I was tripping over it. I paid 600$ for the two dresses to be altered! NEVER AGAIN WILL I TAKE A DRESS THERE!

I had an amazing experience here. She was so helpful and accommodating; I had just begun treatment for a slow thyroid when I came in, and subsequently dropped about ten pounds in a month because my metabolism revved way up. She did not charge me extra or show any sign of frustration when I needed five appointments, even though it is abundantly obvious from the number of dresses in her shop that she is super busy. I will recommend this place to anyone and everyone I know. By far my best experience with the “wedding industry.”

I was referred to come to this place from the Bridal Boutique. One of my dress fitting appointments I showed up on time, and then sat in the waiting room while the receptionist tried finding my dresses. At the time I had my wedding dress altered, as well as a bridesmaid dress. It took her nearly 30 minutes to find my dress. They even asked me to show them a photo of what my dresses look like so they could find it. Words cannot describe how unprofessional this was. Not only was it disrespectful of my time, but my guest as well who I brought with me to my fitting. That, mixed in with the fact they rarely ever answer the phone, and confuse all of my appointment times. it did not feel like a happy, positive atmosphere. I expressed my experience with the receptionist and not only did she lack empathy, but spoke down to me. I would never recommend anyone go here as I feel it is a complete waste of money and time.

BEST SERVICE IN THE CITY! My first fitting was in early January so it was quite cold. The receptionist took my gown and steamed it from top to bottom to make sure that it was warm and comfortable for me to wear. Anjelika made me feel confident in my dress choice within the first 10 minutes of our appointment. She has an eye like no other, I had previously gone to another shop and the seamstress started measuring my hem while my top was AT LEAST 2 sizes too big. I'm so happy I took the time to get a second opinion because my hem would have been way to short. From the moment I tried it on, Anjelika practically read my mind in all that had to be done - which was a lot, as I had the straps removed, hem shortened, belt attached, and sweetheart neckline deepened. I brought my bridesmaid dress to Ingenuity because everyone else in the bridal party was bringing their dress to the same place. I had gotten a much cheaper quote at a place I had used before and been happy with, but thought it would be best if all of our dresses were done at the same place. My consult was extremely quick (in hind sight likely too quick) as the store was busy, and my dress would be ready in a week or so. The owner said that if I didn't like the fit when I came back, we could get adjustments done, and I wouldn't get charged anything additional (payment was requested during the initial consult). When I came back, the dress seemed quite baggy around the waist. I asked if it could be fixed, but was told that the dress wouldn't support additional adjustments. At the time, this didn't make sense, but the seamstress insisted and I assumed she knew best. But when the bride had a similar experience, I was convinced that it was the fact that the seamstress was too busy to fix my dress and just didn't want to take the additional time. Of course a dress could be brought in more if it had already been brought in once! The price and sub-par results mean that I would not recommend Ingenuity.

I hate to give a negative review to a small shop but I really wasn't impressed with the service here. To make a long story short, the buttons that needed to be replaced had not yet been replaced when I went to pick up the dress, and I was relying on her expertise about the length and placement of the bustle on my dress, which ended up being way too long for me to dance in and the skirt also did not stay bustled for more than 5 minutes; some of the threads broke as well.

It was also much too big for me to begin with and required quite a few fittings. I was nervous but in the end it fit perfectly! I honestly can't say enough about Angelica and her assistant, they are the definition of magic makers. I came to them with a terrible dress situation, way to big and being over quoted to make my dress the way i wanted it. Angelica was exactly the person i needed after everything i went through. She treated me like a person and valued my options about what i wanted my dress to look like. In the end after carefully working with me and comforting me in my most stressful moments, my dress was better then perfect! You would never know that the dress didn't just come directly off the rack, that's how INCREDIBLE her work is. Anjelika is absolutely lovely. She listened to my concerns and knew exactly what my wedding dress needed to fit perfectly. She's thorough and so reasonable in her pricing. I really felt she went the extra mile to ensure that my dress fit properly and wasn't just "good enough" but great! I'm thrilled with her and her staff's technical and customer service will return if other garments are in need of alternations. I would absolutely recommend this business to anyone in need of alterations.

The whole thing is mortifying to me. I spent 400 dollars to have my 2000 dollar dress look worse then when I brought it! Now I have 1000 dollars of photos to remind me how they did not tailor the top of my dress and it looks unaltered on the day and in the pictures! It is so disturbing to me, and def took away from my wedding day. The salon was dirty and when I pointed out flaws they gave me excuses instead of results. Did not have anyone go to the appointments with me, so their team of seamstresses just teamed up on me to accept the terrible work they did. Thought everyone should consider my experience, so it does not happen to you

NEVER GO HERE!!!!!!!!! If I could put a zero rating I would! I had a terrible experience here. First the place is very dirty, the couches have stains all over them. And the dressing rooms are gungy and dirty. Also alterations were expensive! When they were altering my dress they put on a bustle that I specifically didn’t want, and then they made me pay for it. This made me so upset because I specifically didn’t want a bustle and told them that the first appointment, and then they put it on, and made me pay for it even though I tried to fight it. They also never completed the alterations before my wedding, the top of my dress didn’t fit in the bust, and they kept saying they will fix it, and they never did, so my dress didn’t fit properly for my wedding. They also lost the straps to my dress for a week!! And they weren’t sure if they’d be able to find them. Alterations also took extremely long I brought my dress to them in March, and I didn’t get it back until a week before my wedding which was in August! I would never recommend this place to anyone! I felt taken advantage of and not listened to. This is a terrible place!!

I probably would have given this shop a 2 or a 3, but it looks like the owner is going to give herself a 5 star review in order to reply to my review, so I will give her a 1. Overall, I ended up with a wedding dress that fit sufficiently and had a great day, but had a disappointing experience with the alteration process. I was suggested her shop by the store where I bought my dress as their only seamstress, but I could have taken it anywhere else. Several times, I showed up for appointments and my dress wasn't ready, forcing me to drive back across the city to try another time. Even though I had appointments, she told me she had rushes that needed to be done that evening and she couldn't take me in. We were way behind schedule by the time my wedding came, so there wasn't even time to hem the dress properly or make little changes that were needed. Again, I had a dress that worked, unlike that other reviewer, but I would recommend another shop, where you will be appreciated as a customer and cared for through the alteration process.

The ONLY place to go for alterations. Anjelika and Maria are helpful and attentive from the moment you talk to them on the phone, to the day that you pick up your garment. The workmanship & integrity at Ingenuity Couture is by FAR second to none. I've recommended Ingenuity Couture to a few other friends for their wedding gown alterations and they've ALL had consistently great service & great workmanship. Just make sure you give her plenty of time especially in the summer because she gets super busy. I've also had garments dry cleaned here and have been thoroughly impressed with the drycleaning as well. Absolutely THE BEST for value, quality, and timeliness!!!

I cannot express how disappointed and frustrated I am with this place. After all the good reviews I read, I figured it was a pretty safe bet that they would be a good choice. The only work I needed done on my wedding dress was a bustle, seems simple enough. However, they did a terrible job as the buttons + loops wouldn't hold for more than 10-15 minutes max. The damage done to the bottom of my dress, due to the fact that it kept coming undone and dragging, is horrible. I would give this place zero stars if possible, and recommend to nobody. So disappointed.

I got married in March of this year and was recommended here for alterations by the vendor that sold my dress. The service here was fantastic! I believe the lady who helped me was also the proprietor and she was amazing. I made a very last-minute appointment and that was no problem. I was offered varying alterations and not pressured into getting any I didn't want, simply told practical suggestions and given explanations for various styles. For a nervous and self-concious bride I found the experience here supportive and relaxing. I would recommend this shop to anybody.

I think the women here are very talented but I honestly think they overbooked themselves or forgot about my dress. I dropped it off in April for a July wedding. Overall the alterations are great but one greatly disappointing element was my bust. We had discussed adding fullness to my bust to help the dress fit better, specifically she spoke about doubling up the cups. Onthe same day I picked up my dress ( 5 days before my wedding) they haphazardly threw in stitches to the single cups that were already there but needed replacement. So the upper portion of my dress didn't fit properly, and it shows in my photos But 5 days before my wedding didn't leave me with enough time to do anything about it. I debated writing this review as they're very nice people but I feel let down by my experience.

When we originally purchased our wedding dress, we were highly recommend to Ingenuity Couture. I must say right from the beginning we were greeted at the door with a huge smile from the staff and we felt very accepted. It was then we knew that we were in good hands. Anjelika is very fun to work with and she provided my wife and I her honest opinion. Anjelika was able to complete altering the dress very quickly and efficiently, especially when our wedding was a little less that 3 weeks away. When we picked up my wife dress it was altered very precisely. Ingenuity Couture is very organized and operates in a very professional manner.

They managed to alter my dress in one week! I could not make it to Calgary until about 2 weeks before and we had to leave for Kananaskis not to long after that. My top, straps and hemming needed to be adjusted. There was so much work done as my gown was fully embellished with sequence, the end result was beautiful. Not a sequence out of place and the fit was done right. Anjelika was in constant communication about the process which put me at ease. This place was amazing!!!!! I bought a "it's ok, but it's the first thing that I don't hate" kind of dress for my own very very last minute planned special event (yes, ok, I admit, it was my wedding, and I hadn't found a dream dress yet), and the ladies at Ingenuity Couture made it SPECTACULAR and PERFECT!!!!!! To be fair to the dress, the top was a gorgeous pleated and layered corset back, but the bottom was short, hit at the wrong place on the leg, and was totally odd paired with such an elegant top. I wanted to keep the top and replace the bottom... no small feat to just get it done with matching fabric on any day, never mind to be completed in 2 days. The women at Ingenuity Couture were very helpful, kind and professional; they added in a perfectly shaped a-line skirt with an amazing train for a petite, non-standard sized body. Somehow they got fabric that was an EXACT match (I'm rather particular about that, so much so that I was only expecting some kind of tulle or complementary fabric skirt because I didn't think anyone could get an exact colour match without getting more of the original manufacturer's fabric). It was perfectly measured and made. When I tried it on for the final fitting, it was just so amazing I was so grateful that I found them. I could have never imagined the product would be as awesome as it was. The price was also less than a fraction of what I thought I would have to pay to get that kind of service and quality. If you want any alterations done, I would highly recommend this place. I never write online reviews, but this shop definitely deserves the kudos and the compliments.
