Really pleased with how my sports jacket came out. The service was professional, reliable, and convenient — I bought my jacket on Thursday at Moores across the street, brought it right over to Metropolis Alterations, and was able to pick up the jacket on a Monday. Highly recommended!

Don’t waste your money and clothes here. I asked the lady to shorten the sleeves of my wool coat. The hem was done so poorly and it makes my coat look so ugly, so I asked them to fix it, but they wanted to charge me again for doing that. Who’s gonna pay 80$ for such bad quality work? Last time I only spent 35$ at Hudson’s bay to alternate the suite, and it was perfect. Can’t believe there’s such huge difference.

Metropolis Alterations has never failed to provide my family and I with excellent service, ranging from hemming pants/jeans, tapering jeans, to fitting dresses and jackets. I've had about two rush jobs recently, where they got it done the same day for me for an important event (ordered an outfit online and when it came it did not fit and it was such short notice).THANK YOU! Every item we have ever had altered has been perfect. And I mean that wholeheartedly. On top of that, they are the friendliest people. They do the best work and I have tried many places, Trust me! They also offer dry cleaning, it’s just making so easy to get done everything at one place.Great job, affordable prices.

VERY VERY RUDE would give 0 stars Called to get a GENERAL price RANGE for waist adjustment services. I was on the phone for one minute and the lady who picked up was very impatient, repeatedly saying she needs to see it. I understand that, all I want is a price RANGE to get an idea of cost for whether I should buy new pants instead of doing adjustments. She HUNG UP on me after I asked one question. I am sure there are other staff there who are nicer according to other people's reviews, but whoever I spoke with, a lady with a thick accent, was extremely rude considering I only asked one question. I also called Stitch It and some other downtown stores and all of them had amazing customer service, as well as a cheaper price range. Guess I will be going there instead.

Incredible work and amazing customer service. She clearly knows what she's doing and is very confident in her skills. I trust her implicitly. Wouldn't bring my things anywhere else. She shortened a tricky satin skirt (from the top!! Shortening it and replacing the zipper) for a party and it looks absolutely perfect. The price was very fair and way less than I honestly expected. Could not recommend this place higher. 5 stars without question.

I wish I could give ZERO stars to this place!! When I walk into an alterations place, I expect them to be able to measure me correctly. BOY, WAS I WRONG. I stumbled into this alterations place in December because I needed to be fit for my wedding dress. My bridal shop is in the states and I was unable to go in to get fit with them. The woman seemed bothered by my request but agreed to do it anyway. Since I was not buying anything or getting service from her, I understood the frustration. She then fit my bust, waist and hips. Simple measurement, right? I passed those measurements onto my bridal shop. Well, today I went in to try on my dress for the very first time. MY DRESS IS 3 SIZES TOO BIG. "How is the possible?" was my first question to the bridal shop. She pulls up my sizes, and then remeasures me. My measurements were completely different. I will say I have not lost weight, changed sizes or anything. THIS PLACE CANNOT MEASURE CORRECTLY. I am so incredibly disappointed in their service. Not only was she bothered by a simple request but she has now cost me time and money because she can't do her basic job. PLEASE DO NOT EVER GO HERE.

Highly recommended. I brought my suit and was pressed for time to get the suit done for a wedding on the same-day and the tailor was very understanding and honest about the completion expectations. Luckily, the tailor was able to get my suit tailor in time for the wedding on the same day because she understood how pressing the situation was. Extremely accommodating and satisfied with the modifications done on the suit.

I bought an "expensive brand name" suit off the rack and the pants were to long as well as the jacket sleeve was a tad long as well. I brought in my whole suit to inquire about the cuff sleeve debating if it was worth it to do because it was only a little long. If the price exceeded 1/2 the suit price it wasn't really worth it. She told me she can do it, she said can shorten my sleeve and move all the buttons up. Total work done on the suit was to shorten the pants, widen the waist, as well as she talked me in to tapering the pants, and finally shortening the cuff sleeve (remove the old "button holes" and move up the buttons). I needed the suit altered for a wedding in 3 days, I had asked her if the work would be finished by then, if not I don't need the sleeves shortened as I needed the suit in 3 days latest. She told me no problem she can have it done in 3 days before closing time. She wrote down the time and a date it would be done. 3 days later I got my girl friend to pick up my suit for me as she was passing by and I was at work as originally planned. When I got the suit the pants were fine but I realized that the sleeve was shorted and all they had done was remove one button and left the other three with all 4 "button holes" still attached(on each side). They also threw away my 2 buttons. When I had got my suit from my girlfriend and asked her what happened? She told me she had to wait 30 minutes past closing to wait for the suit because they were still going the "buttons". I had since gone back to her to ask her what happened because I paid for all 4 buttons to be moved up as well as removal of the "button hole" stitching. She told me she didn't do the work, WELL ISN'T THAT GREAT. Not only did they not do the work promised, they threw away 2 of the buttons. She told me she will look in the back to "see" if they are there. I told her I want the four buttons moved up and put back on as promised at time if service. The same four buttons. After I left, I called them back to let them know, I can't make the pick up time and date as well as I empathized that I want my original 4 bone buttons to match with the suit buttons. She said Yes, just pick up any time after that day it will be there, then she hung up on me. Kind of rude and disrespectful. UPDATE: My girlfriend picked up my jacket and the buttons are put back on all four, the stitching of the buttons are stitched on the sleeve liner on the inside instead of on the jacket and not actually on the jacket itself. All in all, I'm not 100% sure if I'll go back. The price was decent, although not really worth the headache.

I had a funeral that I had to attend and the lady managed to alter my black suit very quickly in time for the event; she was very sympathetic and personable. I returned 2 years later to have my suit altered for my wedding this time and she remembered me :). For the alterations, she's extremely thorough. Everything from the ankle all the way up to the shoulders, she ensured that every part of the suit was perfectly tailored for my physique and the turnaround time was relatively quick as well. Highly recommend.

Hello everyone, I know Helen for the past 10 years and I worked with her at least for 5. I went to her shop few times and I know so many people who take their alteration to her form North Vancouver, Down Town and Barnaby and I am so surprised that suddenly she is getting these negative reviews all the same time. Is doesn't make sense to me . It seems that Helen is getting fake negative review by someone and his/her friends to harm her business. Google should be more responsible and act more seriously toward theses fake reviews.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CLOTHING HERE unless you are willing to take a risk and have your clothes ruined. The seamstress has no idea what they’re doing and the owner is extremely nonchalant until there is a problem. Took a silk skirt here to be altered (needed the waist to be tighter and the length of the skirt to be shortened) and it’s now RUINED. I wore the skirt as the owner pinned the skirt in the right places to be altered so she knows what it’s supposed to look like. She confirmed everything would be doable. I come back to pick up the skirt and the length was shortened but the waist was HUGE. Basically they shortened the skirt from the top (per my request) and then took in the new waist, which is not the correct way to alter the skirt!! So they apologise and I need to go back again after they try to fix the waist. I go back and they completely changed the design of my skirt. They added darts at the front and back of the skirt, which I did not ask them to do! The owner apologises and says it’s because she was sick and wasn’t there when her seamstress made the alterations. Why would your seamstress NOT be able to do the work unless you’re there to supervise?? I go back again and they took the darts out but now my beautiful silk skirt has needle holes because they had to remove the darts. The owner tries to say the holes are not noticeable. I’ve added pictures so you can see that the holes are EXTREMELY noticeable. Not to mention, they changed the shape of my skirt which used to be straight/a-line! It’s got weird bumps around the hip area AND the back of the skirt is shorter than the front! They also damaged the silk fabric in the process of all the alterations they did on it. Owner would only give me the refund for the alterations and did not pay me damages for the skirt she ruined because I didn’t have the original purchase receipt for the skirt. So now I’m left with a ruined skirt that I hope a talented tailor can save and precious time wasted!

I brought a suit in needing it to be tailored on short notice (3 days) during peek wedding season and she was able to promise that she would personally have it ready for my wedding event. Helen was able to alter/tailor my suit on short notice and it looked absolutely amazing. She has a lifetime of experience in this field which is no wonder people come to her from all over for high end alteration needs for a great price. MUST AVOID. I have brought stuff for them to be hemmed and the quality is horrendous. The hem quality is poor, as most of the pants i have brought them were hemmed unprofessionally and not accurately. They are also WAY OVERPRICED. You can get your hem or alteration for somewhere else for 25% less elsewhere in Metropolis. AVOID this place if you want to save your money and clothes.

When I read some of these reviews and the owners response (which you should also do) I believe that they are leaving a review, for the wrong business. Very unfair! In my opionion, these are not seamstresses, they are tailors.. They are incredibly professional and me? I am PICKY! This is the only place that I go, for any alterations..They were highly recommended to me, by Aritzia.

Helen quickly allayed any fears I might have had; she did an excellent job and I will not take my clothes to anyone but her......she did a wonderful, blind hem and the sleeves were just perfect, as was the hem on my coat. I went to get my pants hemmed on the afternoon of July 9, 2019. Although, the lady did a really nice job, the customer service could use some improvement. When I went to pick up my item, she said “check?”, which surprised me, as while I did end up checking the quality later on, I did not realise there was some rule that I had to check the quality, right then and there as I had other errands to run, as well. I then inquired about the return policy, as there was no mention of it on the receipt and so I asked “is it 30 days?”, to which the lady replied “yeah” and then I left, and there was barely even a have a nice day or anything. Considering all the great reviews on google, I was disappointed with the experience, and I am unsure if I will use/recommend this shop to anyone in the future, despite the quality work.

Thank you metropolis alteration to hemmed and alter my wedding dress very last minute. With the pandemic, our wedding was postponed so there was no point to get my dress altered but we decided to have a small wedding at the end of September. They were the only place that could fix my dress in less than 4 days. They are experienced and friendly. Their prices are very reasonable for the amount of work they do. The only place in metro Vancouver that does button holes for coats! None of the other alteration places I contacted in metrotown or places like Stitch It would do button holes. All the ones I’ve contacted said they don’t have button hole machines or can’t do it. But Metropolis Alterations—very professionally done! I am happy with the beautifully done button hole on my coat. They did by hand, but it doesn’t even look like it’s done by hand. Love my new altered coat now!

Nothing but great experiences here! I've been using them for 1.5 years and had sleeves shortened on my coat, suit pants tapered to make them look less body/more modern, hems on tons of pants and about the sleeves shortened on shirts. If you want clothes to fit amazing get them tailored, seriously, you can take cheap items and make them look a million dollars.. they are friendly, honest and do a great job. Tonight I tried on my pants and the hem didn't seem to be as high as i wanted, they took the pants up 0.5inch while I waited with no fuss, and they look great. Ignore the person who gave a crappy review (academic Tudor), look at their reviews, they give everyone a one star..

This lady knows exactly what she is doing! I love wearing good, quality, well suited fitted clothing and sometimes don’t spare cost if it does sit well on me and works for my style. In the past I’ve given her clothes to alter and they all came out excellent. Recently I bought 3 really expensive Hugo Boss suits and was a bit terrified just because of the $$ spent purchasing it and I did really love the suits. Was afraid of mistakes and just didn’t want to hear stories. Gave them to her, she took my measurement and days later I was amazed and bewildered at the level of craftsmanship and perfection. She is simply excellent and very good at her craft.
