They (the location in Burnaby) ruined two pairs of expensive jeans. One pair I had to take back a second time because they didn't adjust it to the right length. Each side of the same leg was uneven. It's a simple alteration done by every tailor. How do you screw that up! They couldn't be made even because they would be too short. I always go to Fenlin Tailors in Burnaby. She has never screwed up with any of my pants but because she was out of town for an extended time I resorted to the closest tailor. I will never go to these people again.

Instant tailoring was recommended to me by a close family friend, who specialised in tailoring for over 30 years. As she was retired, she said Sarah is the only good tailor left in the area if I needed to get alternations- and I’m really glad I gave her recommendation a try. I frequently shop for fashionable clothing, and need very specific (and at times, drastic) alterations for most of my purchases. Sarah, with her extensive years working for designers; is able to not only do the alternations meticulously, but also works closely with me as a type of "consultant" in re-designing the way an item fits; so that it’s specifically tailored to my style and body perfectly. I admire that she is honest and direct, if she feels the ideas I present to her will not look good or work with the type of fabric we have. I also like that she doesn’t try to trick you into doing alternations for the sake of her making money- often she says there’s no reason to do x, when y works perfect and is more affordable. I very much enjoy having her as my tailor, and since we've met; I have been able to develop the best wardrobe I've ever had!

Brought two pairs of uniform pants to be altered. After the alteration (it tooks two days to alter), I tried both pants. What I found out: - on one pair one leg was longer than the other ~1-1.5 cm, so it was touching the floor, when the other one wasn't. - both pairs were altered horribly, which resulted in huge crinkles. It looked like a kid was stull trying to fit into dad's pants. - in the lower part both pairs had pleats where the thread goes. All four legs with different pleats size. When I tried to complaint, I've been told: 1. That I has been wearing different shoes when I fist did the try-out before the alteration. When I said that I specifically wore the same pair I use for work in both cases (before and after alteration), I've been told 'but you guys usually wear shoes with a thick sole!" 2. That in five (!) years they've never had a single person to complain about their job. The nicer it was to come online later and read the negative reviews for the past 4 months. 3. That they had bigger experience working with fabrics than I had, so they knew better (I believe, my experience was written on my forehead, so they could tell me so). 3. That I didn't pay for the alteration, my company did, so I didn't have to worry as I didn't lose money (these words would be passed to my company - I hope they'd be happy to know it). 4. That everything was like that because I hadn't washed these pants yet. After I explained that these pants could be dry-cleaned only (which is what the memo said), I've been told that it didn't matter and 'everyone wash them'. Which is problaly confirming their 'experience' in working with fabrics. 5. That they could fix it in 30 min and that I've lost more time arguing with them. I didn't want them 'fix it', as they were not listening to what I was saying - which would probably result in a worse alteration. The manager also said that she didn't want to see me trying the pants, although I suggested her to see for herself how bad it was. 6. If I didn't like their job, I should've been sticking to the alteration company I like and never come back. Which exactly what I did later, thank you for telling me what to do! Apart from everything I took pictures of the 'alterations' they've made. And also - pictures of corrections the other tailor has made, so I have proofs that it HAD TO be re-altered.

I'm speechless. After reading so many good reviews,I decided to take the risk and visit Sara to make some alterations to my dress. From the start,she was welcoming,honest, and very helpful. I had alot of things to be done but my dress was ready in two weeks and it came out better than I had even imagined. I am very particular person but she managed to melt my heart because my dress looks brand new n fits me like a glove now. I can go on and on about her professionalism, adaptability, willingness to share tips and tricks on how to take care or your garment n other clothes, her good vibe and so on but I'll stop here and end by saying- She is worth the risk.

So so service, I came for measuring my body for new uniform and brought my own form but got refused to use it since it takes long to read it and I had to use their own measure form. She said her own measuring form almost all contains the body parts so it will work, and took around 3 or 4 minutes... anyway very quickly, but still at home I had to ask my partner to measure some of other parts that she didn't do for me. I was thinking 20 dollars was not worth for this. I accepted because I had to get it done in short period of time, I wish when customer ask something specific, they try to meet their customer's needs.

Will never take my clothes anywhere else! Right from the beginning when I phoned I had received great customer service. I explained that I had a sweater another tailor had worked on that I was unhappy with the work, and if anything could be done to fix it. My wedding planner friend suggested that I get the dress I love, even if it's not quite right, because if I find the right seamstress, she can work wonders. So I found a beautiful dress on sample sale, but it had sleeves I didn't want and it was over a size too big. A fellow bride recommended Sara at Instant Tailoring, so I called Sara while many tailors were still closed because of COVID-19 lockdowns. She was so responsive and even said she would be able to get my dress altered within a week! So as a busy professional who didn't leave much time for dress alteration, this was amazing. Sara clearly has a lot of experience and she is very talented. She designs and makes her own wedding dresses, so she gave me expert advice on how to alter the dress in ways I wouldn't have thought of so it would look perfect. Now I have exactly the wedding dress I want, and it was so quick, too! I asked Sara for some minor adjustments at the end, and she completed those free of charge as well. When I looked carefully at her work, there was no way to tell that the dress was significantly altered from the original. Sara made me feel very valued as a first-time customer and I'll definitely be going back next time I need more tailoring done. Highly recommended and amazing quality you wouldn't expect for a tailor shop so close to a mall food court!

So glad I decided to do my bridal dress alterations here. I wasn't sure if they were open during the lockdown, but Sara was super prompt in answering my inquiry and any of the questions I had. She was very sweet and even made a last minute adjustment to accommodate the fact that the heels I got were half an inch shorter than I thought. The dress was ready within a week, which I wasn't expecting, but it was a pleasant surprise. Tried on the dress in their fitting room and it fit perfectly; I had the straps adjusted and the dress hemmed. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for someone to do your alterations!

I used to go this shop to get the odd alterations on less complicated items. I always found them overpriced for the mediocre quality service and alterations they did. But, it was close to my home and more convenient than driving to my go-to above par seamstress where I took my more complicated alterations to. When they would mess up my clothes and fix them, they would charge me again for them, which I always did not agree with, but I would pay for it just to save myself the hassle. The last straw I had with them was dealing with Sarah who has the worst customer service and every time I saw her she would always complain about other customers and get argumentative with me, which I considered to be very unprofessional. I would just put up with her so, I could get my clothes done. So, this last straw where she was really rude to me was in regards to clothing item they never seemed to be able to get done right. They had to fix this item 3 times over and could never get it right and kept ruining it and making it worse every time I went in for a fitting. I was finally fed up and decided I wanted my clothing item back. She insisted I pay for a mistake they made for all the 3 times with my clothing item f I wanted it back. I wanted my clothing item back so, I could take it to my regular, more skilled seamstress who could fix it properly. They were holding my clothing item hostage if I would not pay for work done 3 times for mistakes they continued to make. I was fed up and had enough of them and her negative, rude attitude. So, I told her I would pay for the the mistake one time and only for half the amount so, I could get my clothing item back. She agreed and I paid and looked her square in the eye and told her I would NEVER EVER come back to her shop again to get any alterations done, and in her usual unprofessional manner, she said "fine with us", and made some other rude, unprofessional comment I can't recall now. Wow! I reported them to the mall administration because, when the mall leases space to retailers who provide poor customer service and poor quality service; they are always interested to know as this reflects poorly on them as a business if people are not patroning certain stores due to poor service. Poor quality/customer service stores = less patrons means less revenue for the mall. Anyway, I ended up taking my clothing item to my regular seamstress who charged me half of what this shop charged me and she fixed it up perfectly, and it only took her one time to get it done right (as I expected). And since this last terrible experience with Instant Tailoring (this was over 6 years ago), I have never ever gone back and I tell everyone I know (I am very well connected in the community due to my high profile job) to avoid going to their shop for tailoring. So, from all the negative reviews from others on here who all say the same thing I am conveying about their poor customer service and lack of competence in tailoring and being overpriced; they are all totally right. We all have had the exact same negative experiences. And the only reason they get any business is due to the fact they are located in a busy mall, but if they were a stand alone shop on a street corner, no one would even bother and they would not get away with charging such high prices for shoddy work. Good riddens! Follow up to owner's response to my review - Yes, after 6 years I decided to write a post about the TRUTH. And what does it matter if its 6 years later or 4 am pst time? I happen to get up early to start my work day because, I manage an international company. Your comment has absolutely no relevance to my honest customer feedback about my horrible experience with your tailor shop. I am not judging, but speaking the truth. And if you are the owner and this is how you respond to an honest customer review instead of apologizing, this reflects very poorly on you as a manager and I can see (as well as the other negative reviews from other customers who experienced what I did) why your staff provide such poor service.

Terrible customer service. I ask politely to see what are the options for fixing my pants. A small 1mm burn mark. Immediately blurts out ignorantly, a price way above mentioned from other tailors. Then as I ask for alternatives, simple response and with attitude as if "I should just go away your wasting my time" Please fix your customer Service. Brutal.

I've been getting my clothes tailored at Instant Tailoring for more than 10 years now, literally dozens of items - casual, formal, work outfits, etc. Sara and her team are meticulous, prompt, and I've never been disappointed with the end result. I like my clothes to fit just right so they often need a tweak here and there and they've been able to handle every request, and if for whatever reason it's something that simply can't be done because it may ruin the clothing item, Sara always explains why. I cannot recommend them enough. We will be moving to Vancouver soon but we will continue to make our way back to Brentwood for all of our tailoring needs - it's too important!

I have been coming to Instant Tailoring for a few years now. Sara has always provided me excellent service and workmanship. I bring my all my pants and shirts to get a quote for the work needed to be done. For tailoring services, it is well priced, good workmanship, and conveniently located. The quote is always itemized by component/labour. Make sure you bring in your clothing to get an accurate price; material and the amount of labour will affect the pricing. I've found Instant Tailoring to be cheaper, faster and the job is done exceptionally well compared to other tailoring services I have used in the past. Like any service, make sure you communicate your needs, and Sara will give you her professional opinion and the best price for what you need. Sara is patient and answers all my questions. I don't see a reason to go anywhere else.

First time visiting this place and i had two dresses altered. One was my daughter's flower girl organza dress and another one was my dress (nothing fancy). The good: - Turn around time was 2 days The bad: - Did an incredibly poor job on my daughter's dress. I had the shoulder straps shortened, and all they did was fold it in and sew it together. You can see the fold even when she's wearing it. On top of that, the seam of the fold no longer sits at the top of the shoulders, but now sits in the front. - I had them shorten the straps and hem my dress. Again, all they did was fold the straps in and sew it together. The hem was never done (you can still see the markings and they still had a pin on the original hem). - overall cost was $88 for both dresses. I will be going back Just to get them to finish the job but never again will I bring anything to this place. I always have to have dresses and pants altered to fit me properly and this is the first time I have ever encountered such poor craftsmanship. It seems like whoever worked on it had no idea what they were doing.

I’ve been going here for years and last fall, I came in hoping they could help make my Halloween costume (Lilo from Lilo & Stitch). They gave me options and suggestions, and it came out even better than I could’ve imagined. I can honestly only recommend this place. Best store I’ve ever gone for alterations. Sara was absolutely friendly and professional. She took her time to fit and fix my challenging dress as she was so busy. She is a great multitasking person. Pricing is reasonable compared with other alteration store and the quality of the job is amazing. If I would of been in different alteration store price would be much more than what I’ve paid and the quality of the job wasn’t as nice as what sara did for me. Love going back there again and again.
