I was so excited to find that Modernize Tailors also makes cloth masks, and Mia absolutely exceeds my expectations. She's always prompt to respond to my inquiries. When I told her the masks she sewed for my 3 year old son were a bit too small (which has nothing to do with her work but rather due to the fact that my son is quite big), she offered to make two bigger ones for my son for free. I can't thank her enough for her professional work and how much she cares about her customers. Would definitely recommend to friends and families around!

I stumbled upon Modernize Tailors Instagram page as I was looking to find re-usable, fashionable and comfortable masks to use during the pandemic and what will most likely be our new “normal”. I inquired via their direct message on Instagram and Mia was very helpful and replied promptly. She sent me pictures of the different fabric available to choose from. When I arrived to pick up my order, Mia and her assistant (didn’t ask name, I’m so sorry) were both helpful and friendly!!! Very satisfied with the service and with the product I purchased (i especially love my Winnie the Pooh mask) !!! I hope to be able to do business again with the Modernize Tailors team as I had a really good experience. I will definitely be telling my friends and family about them!! My experience is based on tailoring and alterations. Modernize Tailors has been around since 1913, so no doubt there is a long history not only in Chinatown, but in the city of Vancouver. Bill Wong, the head tailor, is approaching his mid-90s now and is still working while his son takes care of the day-to-day. Bill's machines are vintage and in great shape, and Modernize Tailors is one of the few tailors that have a buttonhole machine. It was always fun to visit his shop. I'm satisfied with the quality work Bill has done for me. He's more than happy to make adjustments and give his expert opinion (which I valued immensely) but his rates are too expensive for me (he does all calculations in his head). Each garment I brought him cost more than the last one. If it's something I thrifted, that means it would cost me more to tailor the garment than it cost to acquire it. I simply cannot support his work, even if he does most of it by hand.

The custom made tailored Mandarin suit that was made for me was absolutely stunning. The fabric was superb and the service was outstanding. Only went in twice for measurements and no further adjustments were necessary. Would definitely return!!

It's unfortunate that "I was with my tailor" is a sentence that too few men are able to truthfully say. When you buy clothes 'off the rack', you are limited to other people's choice of fabric, colour and style - and the clothes rarely have a proper fit - and thus when you dress to make a statement you are at best quoting other men's words. When you choose to be tailored you are enlisting an expert - an artist who "will enhance what nature has(n't) provided",: you will have the luxury of choosing cloth, style, placement of pockets...your clothes will be an exponent of your personality - and they will FIT! Nothing equals the Bespoke Experience.

My experience is based on alternation: very disappointed. The service was decent, to be fair, but the work is horrible. A simple hemming, I can do MUCH better myself with a sewing machine.

I'm very thin, so when it came time to get a suit for my wedding I knew I needed something custom. To be honest, I was dreading the process - I had never worked with a tailor before and didn't have a clear idea of what I wanted - only that I was looking for something a bit different, distinctive, and off the beaten path. Mia and Chris read me well, made me feel comfortable very quickly, and they generously (as well as artistically/creatively) helped me navigate the myriad of options to produce a truly personalized and bespoke result which exceeded my expectations. My 3-piece suit (and custom shirt) was a big hit at the wedding, and I'll be proud to wear these fine garments for many years to come. I got an extra pair of pants in a different fabric for more flexibility, and overall I feel that my investment has returned excellent value. My schedule can be quite challenging, so I appreciate that communication was flawless, and their flexibility was much appreciated. Zero regrets. I am excited to return to work with Mia and Chris again in the future as I expand my wardrobe. Thank you both so much!

I took my suit pants here to have them fixed after having sub-par alterations done elsewhere...Mia and Chris were excellent! The pants turned out perfectly, and it was very easy to do business with them. I would highly recommend them for any tailoring needs. I've been to several tailors in the past with disappointing results...so it's very nice to find somewhere that's doing things properly.
