REVIEWS OF Ben's Custom Tailors IN British Columbia

Pat Gunter

I walked in smiled and said hello, he just starred @ me and didn't say hi back. Awkward silence. I walked out and went to a different tailor instead.

Erwin Cruz

Super bad experience bringing my jeans at Ben's Tailor, i was explaining something and he was giving me bad attitude. End up they ruined my $200 jeans.

Charlotte Shi

Poor workmanship. Obviously, very little skill and attention to the repairs. Unfortunately, didn't have time to check when I picked up. The new zipper isn't even attached fully to the bag, leaving a large uncloseable opening. I'm surprised there are such positive reviews one here. Suspect they're fakes. Anyway, I'm out the cost now and don't have time to make the trip back.

James Stewart

Went here to get measured for a suit I need for a friend's wedding. 10$ and give minutes later, I was out of there. Speedy, efficient service. I'll be coming back here to get a custom suit made soon.

Samuel Livingstone

Great alterations and reasonable prices

Barbara L.S. MacLennan

Excellent. Had clothes altered/decreased by 5 sizes. The suits required almost a total recrafting. The stitching was meticulous and you couldn't tell anything had been altered. The price 3 suits each with extra slacks was extremely reasonable and finished in less than a week.AmaZing work. Thank you Ben's.

I have a pair of jeans that I LOVE.... however, the zipper keeps breaking. I can walk into Ben's shop anytime and 5 minutes later, be walking out with my fixed jeans.....and he only charges me $5. Lovely fella. :-)

Bram Stolk

Refuses to make custom shirt. Maybe useful for alterations, but not if you want a shirt made.

Towofee chan

He is very kind, my favourite skirts zipper kept on splitting and was stuck and he fixed it for me!

Keishin Tamaki

Roland Ravina (RRJR)

Excellent tailor skills but poor customer service.

Jennifer Riveros Achiardi

He is not friendly, but he made a good job ????

This guy is legit. Got some pants hemmed and asked to have the leg tapered. He got them done on time and the quality of work was great. Will come back again.

Tracy Byttynen

He seemed upset when I asked for a receipt?

Janna J

Ben is a wizard.

Daniel Gore

I could have done a better job myself. I came in for a zipper pull replacement, and the tailor destroyed the zipper in the process. A shoddy sewing job to hold the cut parts of the zipper together failed within a couple of weeks.

Babaljeet Kaur

Highly recommended. Awesome tailor☺️ I gave my pants for hamming and alteration and he did very good job.

Geethu Chandran

Old Cake

Excellent workmanship in custom tailoring.

Aaron Frimer

work was done, well but I encountered many problems with this store along the way

Alba Zhou

Excellent! His rates are very fair, the quality of my dress hemming is excellent (it was many layers and covered in sequins), and it was done in a timely manner.

PROS: -Very fast -cheap -might be good for altering older stuff, or cheaper clothes -might be good for simple alterations e.g. shortening pants, fitting shirts CONS: -Bad for altering expensive things, if you have a nice lining on your suit and it has to be removed for alterations - it will not be placed back nicely. Lining on my blazer looked a little bit butchered. -Bad for altering multi-layered things -Ben understands English, but there is no reasoning with him, and he will not engage in a discussion with you. Also, no discussion will happen about the work done - he literally will just look you in the eye and say multiple times "it's ok, it's ok" till you just give up trying to explain that the work he has done is not what you have asked for - good luck getting that thrift store/ moth ball smell out of your clothes. - marks from yellow pencil left on visible sections of clothes BOTTOM LINE: The guy charged me $75 only to ruin my brand new $400 blazer, and made my stuff smell like mothballs.

This guy has been around as far back as I can remember. I took in a jacket for a zipper repair today, 5 bucks and 5 minutes. Great deal and good service! His English is not that great as I tried to explain and he said let me see and gave me the price. The store is the very same as it was when I was a kid.

Ben is the man. He's been at it for 40 years and it shows. Stepping into this shop feels like walking into a Chinatown time capsule. I've had shirts and overcoats tailored and been happy with everything. Be prepared for a more casual transaction compared to a modern shop.

Sadia Aden

Blair Chancey

Old school tailor.

J F

Old school tailor that gets the job done fast and cheap. .Don't let the inside of the shop fool you. Ben knows what he's doing, from expert jean hemming, zipper repairs on clothing and bags and he even altered my leather jacket one time! (yeah, that's right, a leather jacket.).

Raman Deep

It was a worst experience. He alter my suit not properly .Made it more worse than before

Subhasree Mahapatro

John

Great service and quality

Rose Saunders

He dose a awesome work

G P

Have had my Jean's and clothes tailored for the last 10years. . . Nothing but quality, quality and more quality. Thanks for always providing the best service possible!

iam1canadian9

The only bonus is that he's incredibly cheap. I got three pants hemmed, and four shirts shortened in the sleeve and torso - $100. Bad news is two of the pants were too short and the other's hem was all wrinkled and bunched up. The stitching on the shirts was crooked.

It was the worst nightmare with Mr Kwan tailor. He examined the collar and advised to change the entire stained white collar with new white cotton. Picked up a week later and to my horror, the new white collar is replaced with aged old yellowish white with a burnt mark, wrinkled [glued]. A lesson learnt for $15 - never returned.

Nuj Bernadas

Ha Thi Ngo

Super fast at putting a zipper back on my jacket. Super cheap as well. Great service.

Chuma Chukwulozie

I've been going to Ben's since childhood and he has never disappointed. Work is top notch.
