I went to Socky after having difficulties with a bridal store and their alteration services. I was so glad i found her, she took me in right away, was very welcoming, made me feel at home and comfortable and took my stresses away with my wedding dress concerns. Socky for sure knows her stuff about alterations and sewing, my size 12 Mori Lee needed to be a size 4 and Socky did this beautifully in a very timely manor, she was diligent with contacting me about the progress, also her prices are very reasonable and modest! My dress was beautiful for my special day and fitted me perfectly! I would recommend her for any alteration needs!

I got my prom dress altered here in june and bought several masks. Thanks to alternations idea my prom dress fit me and I was able to have my special day and wear my prom dress despite covid-19 cancellations! I came back to by more masks and the one that I am wearing in this picture is the black one with paisley designs. The masks are high quality and comfortable they do not make my glasses fog up!! I would definitely recommend alterations idea!

As a first timer, working with Socky was the best! She was very friendly and easy to work with, and reasonably priced. My bridesmaid's dress came in from the UK (far too large!) and with only 12 days until the wedding, was able to re-fit it perfectly with ample time to spare. I am so happy with the way it turned out and can't believe she did such beautiful hand-stitch-work along the back - fits like a glove! I will definitely be referring everyone here and look forward to working with Socky again in the future.

She was very detail-oriented, professional and lovely to work with. She did an amazing job on my wedding dress and my husband's and his best man's suits. I was a bridesmaid for an Indian wedding and the original seamstress messed up my sizing and was not available to fix my Indian suit. I found out 5 days before the wedding. Socky definitely saved the day by doing a rush job (although not encouraged because she is busy esp during wedding season). She has never worked on an Indian suit before but she did a FANTASTIC job. My Indian suit fit the best compared to the other bridesmaids. I highly recommend her from now on. I found her on Google and she will now be my regular seamstress. Thank you Socky! :)

Socky (Owner and Seamstress) is such a talented and knowledgeable seamstress. She takes the time to analyze whatever it is you want to have altered and gives great suggestions and ideas. You can really tell that she has so much experience in tailoring clothing to fit perfectly. She is honest and will tell you what can and cannot be done, but she always tries her best to do whatever you ask. Her prices are also very reasonable! This is definitely my go-to place now for any alteration needs!

Let me just start by saying that if I could give Socky a 10 star rating, I would. As a bride getting married in April, I was looking for a seamstress close to home (as multiple fittings are normally required for a wedding dress) and thus my online search began. I came across ‘Alterations Idea’ via Google (thank god for Google reviews) and not only did Socky have an almost perfect rating, but the reviews written about her said a lot. As an extra bonus for me, ‘Alterations Idea’ happened to be located 5 mins away from me – talk about a score! I decided to reach out to Socky via e-mail and I was pleasantly surprised with her turn-around time in getting back to me. We exchanged a few e-mails back and forth and an appointment was set for me to bring my dress to her. ‘Alterations Idea’ is a home studio (which for me is a no-biggie) and actually made it that much better of an experience (as Socky ensures a 1-on-1 personal experience). At the first fitting, it was easy to note how much experience Socky has. She was able to work with me on and my “vision” for the dress and also made great suggestions of her own. Her pricing is also the MOST REASONABLE for bridal alterations that you could find (seriously, I was quoted almost double what she was chargng at other seamstresses). Once it was time for my second fitting, I was so beyond thrilled at the progress of my dress. Everything that Socky had mentioned would be completed, was. Every stitch, seam and cut was impeccable! I was so pleased at this fitting and her work that I decided to bring an additional dress and blazer (both of which needed some work) to her for altering as well. Fast forward to now, where I’ve not only picked up my wedding dress, but also my other item and I am ONE SATISFIED CUSTOMER!! Believe me when I say, you will NOT be disappointed if you choose Socky for your alterations needs. Socky, thank you again, seriously, from the bottom of my heart. You made my alterations experience as smooth and as easy-breezy as any bride could wish :).

We came to know Alteration Ideas from Google reviews as we searched for shops to do alteration on our daughter’s wedding gown. My husband and I had to help do the search as we know nobody on alterations except the one hemming our pants. Our daughter is quite busy on her research; she is currently doing her PhD in genetics. We found the reviews on Alteration Ideas to be candid and very impressive. All of them were 5 stars except for one. The reason for the one star is that the reviewer got disappointed as the shop does not entertain clients without prior appointment despite it being in the owner’s house. Based on these reviews, my husband suggested that we try it with my “mother of the bride dress”. Some background on the ‘mother of the bride dress: It was size 16 gown bought on sale from Lord and Taylor New York. The color is gold which is rare to find and is perfect for the weddings motif. I love the design as it suits my taste and body. Further, the price was too great to resist. However, the challenge was to alter it to fit a size 10 frame; this I entrusted to Socky, the owner who does all the alterations herself at her shop. I was so happy with the result. I got a tailor-fit gown perfect for my daughter’s wedding at a price I could afford. We immediately set an appointment for my daughter’s wedding gown alteration. We were at her shop last night and we were very impressed with her ideas and steps on how she will alter her gown. For all those who posted their reviews on Alterations Idea, thank you. Through you we met Socky, truly a professional.

As someone who is new to having his clothes altered for a better more professional fit, Socky, Owner of Alterations Idea made the process quick, easy, and less intimidating. The service was exceptional and she took the time to explain the process to me in terms I could understand as well as give me great advice as to what styles were in and how others were getting their attire altered. I needed to get a dress that I bought for my son's wedding altered to make it a little less formal so I could use it again. It was a very expensive dress so I was a little nervous of going to the local seamstress at the Mall. From the first time meeting with Socky, I knew I was at the right place.
