AMAZING!!! Hanna saved my wedding dress. It came in from the Bridal Centre too small and I had been to 3 other places before her. 2 places said it was fine that it was too tight. Another lady told me there was nothing she could do and I needed to lose weight. Hanna was the ONLY seamstress who even thought that there was something off with the dress. She noticed the top was too long (because I'm 5'3" and the dress is made for someone taller) and that it was sitting on my hips. She cut out material in the middle of my dress and sewed the intricate flower design on to the body of the dress (it's hard to explain but it looks a thousand times better than the original dress). She then sat and the floor and cut the dress with me there. HIGHLY recommend this place for all your alterations :)

Brides beware! If you care about your dress and want a reliable seamstress, please please go elsewhere. My fiancee took her wedding dress here and Hanna didn't listen to her needs and preferences and tried to force her own style on my fiancee the whole way. My fiancee encountered a number of problems and I'm hoping that someone reading this will learn to avoid this shop: 1) Hanna sewed in an under bustle without asking what style of bustle my fiancee wanted. When my fiancee asked Hanna for a different kind of bustle afterwards, Hanna told her that she should just keep the original bustle ****because it wouldn't really matter what her dress looked like at our wedding reception.**** My fiancee tried to get the style of bustle she wanted and even showed Hanna photos, and Hanna eventually admitted that she didn't know how the work in the photos was completed. This was the biggest challenge with Hanna and my fiancee eventually went elsewhere and got amazing service and the exact bustle she wanted. 2) My fiancee asked Hanna to sew a sash onto the waist of her dress and Hanna sewed it on inside-out and the stitching fell off almost immediately. My fiancee's new seamstress fixed this. 3) Hanna never got the back the dress to fit my fiancee properly and it kept sliding off of the shoulders. Hanna blamed this on the style the dress and said there was no fix. The new seamstress fixed this. 4) This store is extremely small and as a result the area where brides try on their dresses is right by the front door and there is often mud and dirt on the floor so they lay down a big cloth for you to step on but my fiancee was always worried about staining her white dress. 5) My fiancee's dress got extremely wrinkly after spending a few weeks at this shop. It's clear they didn't care for it while they had it and we are now paying a professional to steam it to look like new again. 6) Hanna charges by the hour, and so it's very hard to get an accurate quote for the work done. She provides no written breakdown for her work so it's hard to feel confident in the accuracy of the pricing. This made things especially difficult when I asked for a partial refund for the incorrect work done. She eventually gave us a small refund (20%), and I am grateful for that however my fiancee's alterations budget has been exceeded due to the need to have work redone by another seamstress.

We have, over the years, taken a number of leather coats to Hanna's for repairs. These have been very complex repairs-- for example, one repair was of a coat chewed and ripped through by our dog. Her work was unbelievably good. I don't know how she did it, but the repairs are practically invisible. The repairs have held up perfectly through daily use. I would trust Hanna with anything. She is a craftsman and an artist.

Hanna and Kinga are AMAZING! I had a wedding dress that was two sizes too big for me and they made it fit like a glove. The material for my dress was also very hard to work with, but Kinga fixed the back and worked with the hundreds of buttons I had on my back to close the dress. Also the price was very reasonable. I came in with my wedding dress distraught after being quoted over $2000 for alterations somewhere else. Needless to say Hannah helped me and assured me that it would not cost that much to alter my dress. I have been in for at least 5 fittings and Hannah and her staff have been absolutely wonderful every time. My dress turned out amazing and I could not be more thankful to Hannah and her team! I was even offered to bring my dress back after washing it ( I had to wash it as the bottom was dirty when the dress was shipped to me), to fix any beads that may have loosened while washing. I will recommend Hanna's Design & Alterations to anyone wanting to get anything done, and believe me when I say that my entire dress is beaded and very very complicated to work with as all the beads have to be taken off by hand then sewn back on. I am so happy with the help, the dedication and the perfection these ladies offer. Amazing!

I had the opportunity to use my late grandmother's wedding dress that was made in Paris in the 1940's. Unfortunately it was in pretty rough shape when it was given to me. After looking around on the web for someone who was professional, experienced and had good reviews - I found Hanna!! After dropping by her store in October 2014, I knew it was a perfect fit for me! Hanna listened carefully to the history of the dress and knew that it had huge sentimental value, but gladly took on the challenge to refresh the dress. Just over four months later (although Hanna could have finished it sooner had it been my requirement) I tried on my dress and it was amazing! The amount of care and detail that was taken was impressive, and brought my sister and I to tears. Thanks to the work that Hanna was able to accomplish on such a difficult project, my family heirloom is refreshed and more beautiful than ever! I would love to put up pictures, but the wedding is not until July! I would HIGHLY recommend Hanna to anyone for anything from a complex revitalization of a vintage dress - to hemming a suit. I have known Hanna for as long as she has been a seamstress in Calgary. I have the utmost respect for her and her work. No alteration or design job is too big or too small. While she can alter/fix any garment, she can also design/create any outfit you need. Over the years we have had her work on a variety of clothing pieces including dance costumes and formal gowns, which can be complicated and intricate work. Not only are her seamstress skills exemplary, she is also a very personable individual to work with. She listens carefully to what your needs are and then completes the job in a timely fashion and at a very reasonable rate. My daughter had a two piece graduation dress (which was purchased online) that needed altering within a fairly short time frame. The skirt had far more fabric than anticipated, and the top was too large. Hanna was willing to work with my daughter to get her the dress she envisioned. My dress was hemmed but not the lining. I now look at professional pictures with my dress lining longer than my dress. I'm very upset as my alterations cost me $170.00. In between the ceremony and the dance my hemm had to get fixed. Very upset. I want money back.

I came to Hanna with a much different project than I am sure she is used to. I was wanting a custom tailored pirate costume coat, and explained briefly what I wanted done and I had to say no more. The finished project was a full length men's coat in the style of a pirate costume, and the quality and look was outstanding. Today I picked up my two evening gowns for my up coming cruise from Hanna. Im so beyond pleased, I can not wait to send Hanna pictures of me in the dresses. I found a great deal on these dresses at a end of season sale from Laura. I only worried about the length and alterations to my pink one in particular. Once seeing Hanna all my worries were gone, she made simple changes to one dress that made the world of difference to the length. Then with the detailed work of my second pink dress, she worked her magic. I feel fantastic in them even more now then when I bought them, its as if they were designed just for me. Hanna was so great on the price point as well. Its a comfort to know that when the dresses the self were a great deal, with added alterations they both are so beautiful. Hannah altered my wedding dress a few weeks ago. She did an amazing job and had the dress ready early to accommodate my hectic schedule. I took my wedding dress to Hanna's to have the top taken in a bit as it was too large in the bust and at that time decided to shorten the train. She charges $50 and hour and told me this would take max 2 hours probably less.She told me to come back in a month which was a couple weeks before the wedding. When I came back she seemed surprised to see me and went and got my wedding dress to try on. I looked at my dress and it had all the pins in it still and was wrinkled from the top to the bottom. I asked her about it and she said she didn't understand her note that she wrote down and hadn't done anything. I asked her about the wrinkling, I said it looked like she had tossed it in a pile rather than hanging it for the last month. She promised me the work would be done in a week and the wrinkles would be steamed out. When I came back for the dress the work was done and she had additionally added a three part bustle for the part of the train that was left, I had told her specifically I didn't want a bustle, and then she also steamed AND pressed the dress and charged me 4 hours for it. This woman barely understands her notes and does as she pleases with the garments dropped off to her. She is completely disorganzied and doesn't seem to comprehend the value of the garments dropped off. People were wearing their shoes all over the shop and when I brought my dress home it smelled like cigarettes and her perfume. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I have to admit the sewing was done well but with her inability to do what is asked and the way she treated my dress I would never go back.

I chose Hanna for my wedding dress alterations after looking at what seemed like a half dozen places. My dress was not easy to alter (lace overlay with LOTS of bead work). Long story short, my dress was HUGE- about 3 sizes too big. Hanna and her staff did an amazing job, it now fits me like a glove. I went in for 4 fittings total to ensure the fit was perfect. I walked away happy, not only because my dress looks amazing, but because it didn't cost me a small fortune in alterations. The team at this shop are very talented and clearly take pride in their work!

I called just for an inquiry about sewing my costume. The lady was extremely rude. Didn't answer my questions and it was so bad I hung up and called an entirely different place to get work done. If you prefer being treated like a human being I do not recommend going here or even calling here. I have read other reviews on Hanna that have been made out to be positive. I do not know if she has someone else working for her that made my experience so horrible or if it was her herself. Either way it was an uncomfortable experience.

I had a custom costume made by Hanna's. The outfit consisted of custom pants and a complex asymmetrical vest. With nothing more than a handful of pictures, Hanna and her assistant were able to produce these items from scratch with no patterns. Supplying them with the fabric and materials they went to work and accomplished outstanding finished products. The costume is for stage performance and is of extremely high quality and finish. I have a high degree of attention to detail that normally drives businesses frustrated, but Hanna's delivered and that is no easy task in my world. If you want custom textile work, Hanna's is the place to visit. No job is too difficult. She will deliver and the prices are vary reasonable for the complexity of the work to be performed. Hanna made my wedding dress better than when I first purchased it. My dress was two sizes smaller and there wasn't much fabric on it to make it fit just right. Hanna did it. It fits like a gloves now and looks amazing.There was so much lace on the bottom of my dress that Hanna removed it all, shortened my dress and place the lace back. I was amazed that she made it look like it was never touch. All the lace was were it was suppose to be. She was fast and always asked if there is anything she can do to make it better. The dress had multiple layers, ruching, and more piping than should ever be placed into a dress. I don't believe in flashy brand names but rather good quality fabric and a perfect fit to be essential. I have taken a variety of clothing to Hanna to alter and she provides realistic and collaborative advice when you come in. For a summer wedding I attended in Cuba, I asked Hanna to crop and take-in Dress shorts for me and also, take-in a suit vest. It fit perfectly! I received a lot of compliments being in the wedding party. My Brother brought in a heavy trench coat into Hanna which was a size to big. He had taken this trench to 2 different shops before going to Hanna. Everybody else turned him away, because the material was too tough for their machines and the Fish tail Coat was something they could not work on. Hanna altered the trench coat to the exact specifications of my brother's narrow slender frame. I personally find it hard to fit into slim fitting dress shirts, as I'm 190 Ibs and barrel chested. Hanna is able to take a Brooks Brothers dress shirt and Slim it to my exact build. Hanna even narrowed down a waffle fabric cardigan for me! I went to Hanna’s as I needed alterations to my wedding dress. I was so nervous to take it anywhere, but decided to go here based on all the excellent google reviews. And now that I’ve just picked the dress up, I can very eagerly say Hanna did an AMAZING job! She completely remade the straps, and provided really great insight into what we could do with the straps so that the bust fit me better (was previously slightly too big in that area). Because I’m so indecisive and couldn’t decide exactly where I wanted the spaghetti straps to attach to the back of the dress, she made 2 hook and eye locations so on the day of I can put it either place. As well she added an addition of a bit more lace to the points where they attached to hide the hook and eye - it looks great, as if it was made to be there all along. She even pointed out that the satin train underneath the lace train ended up in an odd place which took away from how beautiful the lace train was, so suggested to hem the satin undertrain completely. This is something I hadn’t even noticed at first but I’m so glad she did because the lace train looks so beautiful now! Prior to alterations, I didn’t feel very comfortable in the dress and like I would have to be careful the entire wedding day that nothing was out of place, but now it feels as comfy as ever and like I’ll be able to dance all night with no issues. Once again, Hanna was amazing as a seamstress and amazing to deal with in person. I would trust her time and time again! :)

I just picked up my wedding dress and couldn't be happier with the service and work that was done to my dress. I didn't require many alterations but my dress is VERY delicate and I am pleased to see that they took care of it while making the alterations. I also found the price to be very very reasonable, I had expected to pay double what I was actually charged which was a pleasant surprise. My dress was ready on the date I asked to pick it up however there were a few more tweeks that I wanted done to make perfect. They were kind enough to do the alterations right away so that I could come and pick it up the following day. Sure enough, everything I asked for was done and I am ready for the big day! It's such a relief to know that they did a good job and I'll certainly be back again any time I need alterations.

Omg 10/10. I had called Hanna at a very short notice to get my wedding dress fixed and to see if we could make it a close back due to religious reasons. I had originally called another person who was very rude because it was short notice. But Hanna was so ready to take on the challenge. We brought in the dress and we said either close the back or make a jacket or what ever she could do. Hanna first off took in my dress and made it fit amazingly. She then made not 1 but 2 jackets for me. She even worked 2 extra days just to get it done. I always face 2 problems with my clothing. 1. My between my bust and shoulders, I am really short so every shirt/dress I try on has tons of extra fabric there. And... 2. I am very rough with my clothing. I destroy my hems on skirts, rip the slits higher, pop buttons all the time, rip seams, you name it, I've destroyed it. I needed a great seamstress to help me with repair my issues. And then Hannah came into my life. She is an amazing, very sweet Russian lady who happens to be extremely talented. And then I started bringing her all of my clothing to fix and realized how reasonable her price is! She is an amazing seamstress and the price is so right! I purchased 4 Sgt. Peppers suits for our Beatles themed wedding out of the United States. I needed to have them altered to fit myself and my groomsmen. The sizing of the suits, when purchased, were very generic and (especially the pants) required some significant alterations. I took the suits along with my groomsmen to get sized. Right off the bat ... Hanna noticed that the pants fit like pajama bottoms. She suggested we each bring in a pair of pants that fit us and she would tear apart the suit pants and sew them back together to match the ones be brought in. Long story short ... the suits were ready when Hanna said they would be and they looked absolutely amazing. The price Hanna charged was very fair for the extensive amount of work she must have done. The pants no longer looked like pajama bottoms but rather they looked like proper pants. I can't say enough good things about Hanna's work and I would happily take any future alterations to her.

Hanna literally saved me from having to purchase a new wedding dress. I ordered my dress from a very well known toronto based company and they ordered me the wrong size. With only a few months before the big day, Hanna was able to basically reconstruct the bottom of my dress so it would zip up. Not only did it zip up, but she tailored it perfectly to my body. Hanna totally saved me on my wedding day! I had gone to a friend of a friend with my wedding dress and it had taken her 3 months to finish. I had asked for illusion sleeves, an illusion back and for the dress to be hemmed and fitted more into the mermaid style. I wish I could upload a picture of the day I tried on my dress. It was at least two sizes too big, she just did a zipper back and earlier had done horrible illusion sleeves so I just asked for some cap sleeves and they just didn't look right at all. My wedding was in 1 1/2 weeks! She told me to just eat more to gain weight. I didn't trust her to fix what she had done so I found Hanna. She was appalled at what the previous seamstress had done, the zipper was crooked, she had hemmed it too short and yea, it was two sizes too big! She took photos for me as evidence so I could try to get at least some money back and said she would do whatever she could to fix everything by my wedding. She had me stand in my dress and started taking out the lace at the bottom to fix the hemm and found tiny holes the other seamstress had left. It really does matter who you go to, especially for something like your wedding dress! I came in to try it on a few days before the wedding so she would be able to make any minor changes if needed. It was perfect and fit like a glove! She fixed everything and even fitted it more into the mermaid style! She even added in a bustle for me last minute! By the time I came to pick it up and everything was finished I was totally in love and so so happy with it! She saved my dress and I am so thankful to her for doing that for me! I wore my dress on my wedding day and felt beautiful in it, I didn't even want to take it off for the reception and just ended up wearing it all night. This woman is dedicated and loves what she does. She really cares and her prices are exceptionally reasonable for the quality of work you get. I totally recommend going to her!! I returned 4 weeks later and was told again, no time but she will start on it immediately. After waiting 6 weeks, I just took my article back. I needed my wedding dress altered and have gone to 3 other seamtresses(some from friend's recommendations) to see if they could shorten the dress (since I'm quite short). I bought the dress from Free People, so it was a bohemian style dress with some embroidery all over the dress. I was almost going to give up and get another dress until I found Hanna's Alterations on Google, which had amazing reviews, so I thought I would see if she would be able to do anything for me. I was not disappointed at all! Hanna is such a nice lady and she quickly accepted the challenge. She even told me that it was no problem at all as it was a relatively easy job. We paid her a $50 deposit and booked an appointment 3 weeks later to get fitted and see if the dress was shortened the way I wanted. We came back 3 weeks later and it was perfect! 3 weeks ago when I first brought the dress I didn't have my shoes (sandals in this case as the wedding is at a beach) so she figured out the length approximately without the shoes I was going to use for the wedding. The length was perfect and it doesn't even look like the dress was altered at all. It looked exactly the same as when I bought it. So I will definitely recommend Hanna's Alterations to family and friends!

I bought a blouse online which was WAY too small. Hanna added inserts along the sides and in the sleeves so that it actually fit. It wasn't inexpensive and she said it probably wouldn't be worth it because it was a very complicate job, however, it was to me. I love the print, it us very unique so it was well worth the price because she did an amazing job. I get lots of compliments on it and no one knows the inserts aren't part of the design. I always appreciate her honesty. She is very professional and my husband and I have her complete all our alterations. She is also a designer, and I recently saw a few beautiful dresses she has designed / made. Just today I spoke to her about having her remake a jacket for me in the Spring. I never hesitate recommending her - she has never let me down!

I had asked Hanna to sew a vest for me without a pattern. All I had was an old vest for a template. She did an excellent job and I'm extremely pleased with her. It was originally supposed to be completed by March 1st, but I called her with a days notice to have it completed sooner. She had it ready for me by Feb 24th. I just want to let everyone know how amazing Hanna is!!! I was a bridesmaid in an Indian wedding in June 2014 and had received my sari top which did not fit at all. It looked awful! She helped me take them in and made them more flattering and comfortable than I could imagine. I am between sizes and she managed to make the dresses look like they were made for me. Rating this business after seeing my wife's dress. She is a bridesmaid in a wedding and wanted her dress' shoulders shortened, cups sewn in, and a couple other minor modifications. The cups were sewn too high and had to be removed (by me). The front of the dress had to be undone (by the business) to sew in the cups and it appeared they forgot to re-sew the seam. There were cut strings hanging out in two places. This had to be done by my wife's mother. The shoulders were unevenly shortened which meant the dress was crooked on my wife's back and too loose in one cup and too tight in the other (also fixed by my wife's mother). They also damaged the closure at the back of the dress and 'fixed it.' Their 'fix' will likely last the wedding day but not much longer. I wish I could share photos to show the careless work done. We won't be bringing anything back here. We would have been better off paying family to alter the dress.

DO NOT let this woman go near your wedding dress! I took my 12, 000$ wedding dress to hanna's to see if the seams could be let out (it is a hand stitched inbal dror - anyone who knows wedding fashion knows inbal dror is very high quality and well made). First of all she stated she could not take the dress out and instead would have to replace the entire back (which was a lace corset) with a draw string corset to lace up the dress. The floor was dirty and she had me walk to the mirror through the dirt with my beautiful white dress on. I went to 4 other seamstresses (these ones recommended by the bridal boutiques in calgary) after I saw her. All these seamstresses stated that it was totally possible to let the dress out one size and increase the bust with no issue whatsoever. They did not need to touch the lace corset backing, and instead would work with the hidden panels on the inside of the dress. The only reason I went to hanna is because she had amazing google reviews. She then proceeded to tell me my dress was low quality and she would never pay the amount of money for my dress and suggested I was ripped off. She then showed me other dresses in her store that were "nice" and in my opinion they were hideous. They were tacky taffeta thick dresses that are made for large people and have no shape. Terrible experience and dont trust her with your wedding dress.

I decided to take my fabric to Hannah to sew me some drapes for our large windows. She was very professional, kind , and knowledgeable about what I wanted for my drapes . I asked her to make French pleats in them and she did just that . She sent me pictures of what she did along the way as progress for these 4 drapery panels we needed . Hannah did an amazing job along side her partner Kinga, who helped her along the way . My drapes were promised to be finished by a few weeks and they did just that . The drapery panels are perfect to my specifications that I gave them . We are so pleased with her sewing and alteration skills! Definitely be taking our business to her.

It was a strange experience- they don't give you a claim check for your item and I made the mistake (as the reviews seemed good) to not have them write down and give me the quote. I feel like I was taken advantage of!!! They quoted me 40 for my alteration and I even said "really" as it seemed inexpensive and she said "yeah"----then I picked it up and was told it'll be 75???!!!! Not cool!! I said- hey she quoted 40- which she then proceeded to tell me- " no we charge 50 an hour so she couldn't have. I am not a liar and I left feeling angry and like I was totally ripped off. They did good work and that's why they got a 2 star- but be weary of their "practices"- I won't be back
