EDIT; In spite the turnaround time of about 5 days, I had nothing but great service from these guys for years. Five stars if they could have clothes cleaned quicker but the best price I have found from Lakeshore to Eglington and west of Yonge. Original review: Adequate service but dry cleaning takes about 5 business days to get back. I am looking for a place that has faster turnaround time but if I don’t find one nearby, I’ll keep going here.

I've been relying on Habib to make me look good since 2010. His high quality of work is consistent and reliable. In the 4 years I've had him as my tailor, he's able to take my off-the-rack purchases, and transform them into custom fitted attire. He ensures everything is fitted as desired, and has provide expert advice when I am unsure of what I want. Through his work, I have received multiple compliments on my dress shirts and suit jackets--often people being shocked that I bought them from Zara and not Harry Rosen. Over the last 2 years, I've had a tremendous weight loss (~30LBS). Habib was able to take my current closet, where the waist, stomach, and back was far too loose, and make it fit my current size. I would recommend Habib to anyone who's looking for a tailor.

I left my parka coat here to be cleaned and upon collection realised the faux fur around the hood was completely ruined and looked like it had been melted. When I brought this to their attention, I was told that’s how it arrived to them and there was nothing wrong with it. I then showed him a picture of how it looked before I left it with him and he proceeded to tell me that it was my own fault for not reading the fine print which says they are not responsible for any damages and that he sends it somewhere else to be cleaned so it was not his fault. I asked for the name of the company he sends the clothing to and he wouldn’t tell me and said he would send it back to be “fixed” which obviously did not work. I tried to tell him that there’s no way I would have left it to be cleaned if he had warned me that there would be a chance of it getting damaged as it was an expensive coat but he did not want to listen to me and became very defensive, continually telling me that I should have read the fine print and that he can’t possibly tell which fabrics will get ruined or not by the cleaning process. If you have any valuables, please do not leave them here to be taken care of!

Brought in two new pairs of jeans this past December. Picked them up but didn't try them on. Sadly both were hemmed about an inch too high. I was able to wear them with my Docs in winter (looked off, but my boots are tall so showing them off wasn't horrible) but definitely not wearable with regular shoes. I ended up having to donate them. I never said anything to them directly as they have a sign saying no refunds for mistakes. I kept meaning to post this - recently in need of a tailor and saw the positive reviews here. They were friendly enough but I personally want satisfied so I recommend you proceed with caution despite the high rating.

I just got back a sweater that had two quarter size holes in the front. The owner said it must have been me despite there being no holes in the sweater prior to bringing it in. 100% positive. He would not take any responsibility, got super defensive and said don't bring your stuff here anymore then. I was not even asking for money. Just wanted to show him so this wouldn't happen again to me or you. Perhaps my help would improve his processes. Not great customer service. Super hard headed individual to talk to. My suggestion is to find another place in area. My holes did not come from moths as the company is trying to suggest below. If VIP's job is to repair holes and not make new ones then they failed. I keep my clothes in great condition (in a moth free environment) and these holes were never there until after having them cleaned at this store.

I've used tailors in a few different cities in Canada and Habib is by far the best tailor I've had. He has decades of experience but it's his attention to detail and his care for the quality of the finished product that puts him above the rest. I gave him a very difficult task on my uniform pants and he definitely delivered. He runs the shop with his wonderful wife who are both personable. This guy is the definition of a headache. I went to VIP for 3 months, probably 6 times, and each time it got more and more frustrating. He's super defensive, and talks non-stop at you, tries to give you the whole backstory as to why he can't do the job the way you're requesting. He also doesn't remember you at all so it's impossible to build a relationship with him. If you're hesitant, or need clarification, or offer your stance on something, odds are, he'll get defensive, ask for more time, and explain to you in confusing english why he did it the way that he did....the bottom line is you're not happy with the job and you can't get a word in. Today, I showed up with 4 items, small jobs, one job was medium/kinda challenging and he basically said 'go to another tailor'...he's on his way out of the business and is not looking for new business. Move along. ps- if you must visit, pay upfront, as he won't remember what he said the first time.

This place is great and I’d rate it 6 stars if I could. I brought in a high end suit for some alterations which were done very quickly and with top notch attention to detail - the jacket now fits perfectly. Habib knows exactly what he is doing - it gave me extra comfort knowing he used to tailor for Harry Rosen for many years. He also offers a fit guarantee and will adjust anything you don’t like if you tell him within a few weeks. I think the price is very reasonable for the quality of work done (I called around for several comparison quote all of which were significantly more expensive with a very slow turn around time). I will most certainly be back! Thanks!

Service was terrible, he assumes he knows what you want and when it doesn't turn out as expected, it's your fault. I wouldn't recommend this place, no wonder their Yelp rating is 2.5, wish I had looked at that feedback before wasting time & money. Even if I thought their service was slightly cheaper, by the time I added the cost of going to a 2nd tailor I ended up paying double. His attitude is friendly at the beginning but as soon as you've paid upfront and got your business it's a different story. Avoid this place, there are plenty of other dry cleaners & tailors that will provide better service and work.

I found Habib through a positive review online while looking for a good tailor in Toronto. I'm glad I did because I take all my new purchases to him for alterations. He's taken 10 year old suits and made them new saving me a ton of money in new suit purchases. It's amazing what he can do. I've taken pants, suits, shirts and jackets to him and all have come out amazing. He does not charge anything for additional alterations and the only time I needed one was because I didn't take his recommendation the first time. Habib is my go-to tailor. He fits the pieces to my specifications impeccably, and is forthright with advising me to reconsider things when something I want is not possible without ruining the structural integrity of the garment. I’ve had many vintage delicate silk blouses fitted by him, a designer suit jacket taken in and adjusted, the buttons on a fur coat repaired, and my favourite blouses dry-cleaned to perfection. I was blown away by his detailing on my jacket; I couldn’t find his seams at all and he had to show me where he put them; it seemed like magic. He is a warm presence and his shop has a lovely family of plants and a classic aesthetic. The best part about visiting Habib is I always walk away with a smile. I would recommend him to anyone who wants perfect tailoring and to experience a throwback to the days where commerce included personal warmth and kindness.

Habib has done dozens of pieces for me, and I am very happy with each one. He never hesitates to ask if anything needs to be changes after he has altered a piece. In fact, several times I have asked for small changes after his first alteration (more for my own comfort, it still looked great) and he hasn't even charged me. All I can say is, Habib wants his customers to be 100% satisfied with the work that he does. It all comes down to communicating what you want. Very good quality tailoring and alterations! I’ve brought multiple suits and pants here for complicated alterations with excellent results. The tailor knows exactly what he’s doing. He does all the alterations himself. He has a two week satisfaction guarantee too. If you’re unhappy, or your partner is unhappy, take it back to get adjusted. The only “negative” is that you pay a bit of a premium. But that’s because he believes in his work and doesn’t outsource. Personally, I prefer quality for my high priced garments. But I thought I’d note that for those thinking this is discount tailor.

Very friendly service and always does quality work, you get the feeling that they really care about their customers. I had Habib tailor 2 suits for me, he asked questions about my style and how I wanted the suits to fit. Took down the necessary adjustments and both suits are top notch work. I would definitely recommend using their services, I've only had great experiences coming here over the past few years.

PLEASE TAKE THIS AS A WARNING NOT TO GO TO SEE VIP TAILORS & CLEANERS ON HARBORD STREET - See below as to why ! Had the worst experience at VIP Tailors & Cleaners. The experience started off with me going to get pinned for alterations for a nice lady. I thought everything was going to turn out great. The second time I went in to pickup my suit, a man named Habib greated me, the lady was no where to be found. Habib was very nice to me, but when I tried on my suit, it did not fit at all. What was even more concerning was that there was a rip on the inside of my suit. Habib complained that I did not see him the first time I came around and that I got pinned for my suit with his wife. He blamed me for his wife's pinning job, which is absurd ! He then would not fix my suit, and would not give me my suit without paying him. I ended up having to spend over $200 to just get my suit back. Not only did he ruin my suit, he yelled at me, and blamed me for their mistakes.

ONE of the better tailors in Toronto. People on other websites say Habib is the best tailor in Toronto, but that statement is so blown out of proportion because it's extremely difficult to measure a tailors skill and talent from a couple of fabrics being altered;it's not just about it fitting there are various other factors to consider. Considering the complexity of this craft, Habib is among the better Tailors in the GTA for that matter but certainly not the best. But he does deserve credit, considering his prices and the quality of his work is what makes me coming back.

Over the past 20 years or so, Habib and his family have offered my family so much more than a professional dry cleaning and alteration service. Don't get me wrong, he can take a $300 suit and make it look like you picked it straight out of a GQ magazine, and he had no trouble chopping up a basic ankle length cashmere coat and transforming it into a modern day pea coat. Basic hem and tucks are clock work to this guy, not worth going on about. Bottom line, the man is a pro and has always guaranteed his work. The care and compassion that he and his family offer is what really distinguishes the services. Habib is not just a professional tailor that offers affordable prices, he's apart of the community.
