Unqualified for tailoring. I spent $522.00 to tailor a shirt and suit. The shirt sleeves are too short and the suit jacket is too tight in the chest and the pants look like jodhpurs. My $200.00 shirt is unwearable and the DKNY suit looks like it belongs to someone else completely. The suit jacket sleeve length is good as is the length of the pants - everything else is awful. Also the shirt was 4 days late but it was explained to me that it should have been only three days late. Suit alterations ($452.00) were on time though horribly executed. Beyond hemming, this place is horribly unqualified and extremely expensive. Five phone calls from Davido were about my review and not about the fit of my suit. I did not need the shirt early. I never indicated there was any time frame for anything so I was annoyed at simply expecting the shirt on time. I did not get my suit at a 75% discount and I don't see the point in saying that or how that would matter or make a difference. Davido was very concerned with a negative review but not about an ill-fitting suit or the exorbitant cost. The actual tailor does good work; Davido is not qualified to fit or pin a suit. I took my suit to another tailor and had three fittings at a third of the price. I now have a perfectly tailored suit. Two things: Don't let Davido pin or fit. Have a tailor measure both arms and both legs. Don't let them just pin one arm or leg. And lastly, Davido did offer to pay for my shirt if I took down my negative review. I declined.

Amazing experience! I needed to get the waist of a vegan leather pant to be taken in. I couldn't find another tailor in the area that could help me out with the time frame that I had. They took them right away and did a fantastic job on them in barely a week. They took the whole waist apart and put it back together without any noticeable stitching. Beautiful job and for a very affordable price. I was expecting something around $50 considering the nature of the fabric but ended up costing me only $30+tax. They are very skilled and Davido is lovely, professional and visibly LOVES what he's doing. I would recommend them to anyone that need clean and we'll priced alterations.

The price was reasonable and the turn around time was less than a week. Now I have a warm jacket for the next several winters. Performing quite a bit of research on leather and shearling jacket cleaning services in Toronto, I found that there were not many options. The jacket that I was going to be bringing-in was also quite special to me, so I needed to take it to a place that I could trust. After evaluating my options by comparing business Google Reviews, I decided to take a chance on The Tailor and The Cleaner and they did not disappoint. Walking into the store, I was immediately met with professionalism by Davido. We started our discussion by talking about the jacket, then how it would be cleaned, when it would be ready, and finally the pricing. I really appreciated the transparency and expectations that were set, as I was quite new to this process. When the jacket was finally ready to be picked-up, I was pleasantly surprised with the finished product. It was a completely new jacket. This was the worst experience I ever had with a tailor. Things are not done by a professional and they don’t listen to what you want. The stitching and quality of work is unwearable. The guy that owns the place doesn’t even do the work, he has some old lady who isn’t a tailor do the work. Plus he overcharges.

In my experience finding a good tailor is not an easy task, there has to be strong elements of comfort and trust. When my prior tailor of nearly a decade decided to retire, I was left reaching for a new one for some time but fortunately I found The tailor and cleaner. Initially I just stumbled across their shop while I was on a street car, I decided to walk in one day and chatted about some alteration work that I needed. REPONSE TO THE OWNER David, it’s appalling to me that you could so quickly forget this incident (or lie about not remembering) as it only occurred about a month ago and you met with me to calm me down when I came into the store very upset about Maria making the wrong alteration.. You specifically said you understand how stressful weddings are and would fix the issue with the dress. And you called me personally after I left the shop to tell me that it would cost nearly $200 more for Maria to fix her mistake. And my username, quite frankly, has nothing to do with this. I had to create this account to leave you a review because I don’t have a gmail account and have never left another company a review before. THAT IS HOW UPSET I AM. And I cannot call you because I don’t live in Canada. Remember? I was visiting and had to leave and was very worried that Maria wouldn’t be able to fix the alterations by the time I had to depart? Please provide an email address that I can reach you at because I would like to be refunded. I came in asking for one thing and $300 later, still didn’t get what I asked for but got a whole lot of drama instead. ORIGINAL REVIEW I went to this place for a very simple WEDDING DRESS alteration. Take out the skirt bottom using the extra inches of fabric provided in the inner seams. I stressed 3 times to the seamstress “please do not touch the bust, the bust is perfect.” I noticed she wasn’t writing any of this down, she told me to return in 1 week. I left the shop but something told me to go back inside and reiterate “pleasssse make sure you only alter the skirt of the dress and not the bust.” She assured me she understood. I returned 1 week later and my alteration was not ready. I was so annoyed because this place is an hour from my home and I chose them because of their good reviews online. The seamstress told me to go grab some lunch and by the time I come back it would be done. I wondered how it would be possible to get it done that quick. Anyway I had errands to run so I left and returned the next day. To my horror when I tried the dress on at home, the bust had been let out, NOT the skirt. I was furious given how many times I repeated myself NOT to touch the bust. The bust was my favourite part of the fit!!! She completely ruined it. I had to drive an hour back the next day and speak to the shop owner who made me try on the dress and bagan to point out and pin the areas that needed fixing. He assured it would be fixed the next day. I went back the next day and it was corrected but they STILL had not taken out the skirt. AND I paid $80 for the skirt to be taken out the first time and now they were charging me another $150 for the corrections they made to the bust. I left with the dress because I was worried to leave it in that shop for another minute and I’m absolutely fuming that I am out over $200 for NOTHING!!! I still have to take the dress somewhere else now to do the only thing I ever wanted done to it - let out the skirt literally 1 inch. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! Side note/ when I went in to pick up the dress the last time, another man walked in to collect his alteration was also told his was not ready. These people are disorganized and should not be trusted beyond perhaps their cleaning service. Never again.

The team worked magic on my suit. I had to purchase a suit 2 sizes up so that the chest and shoulders fit. They asked me to come in for a second try on before delivery To make sure everything looks good. That is the sign of a good tailor! They even created a custom boutonniere behind the lapel on my suit. Had the most wonderful experience here! I brought in a gown that needed MAJOR alterations just days before leaving town for a wedding (I had initially taken it elsewhere but felt uneasy and decided to look for another tailor). The alterations were quite extensive and basically required deconstruction. I was a bit nervous, as they had to remove the zipper, but they were very reassuring and explained every part of the process. I left my gown in their hands and when I returned a few days later I was in awe! I’m very petite and have a hard time finding anything that fits perfectly. The work they did made the dress fit like a glove. It was cinched at the waist just the right amount to give me a soft hourglass figure...but also leave enough room to allow me to eat haha. My torso no longer looked like it was drowning as they managed to neatly tuck away extra fabric while still keeping the flow of the bodice. The back of my dress was incredibly detailed with intertwining straps that were all perfectly adjusted. I will definitely be back again (along with my entire wardrobe) and have already sang praises of their work to my family and friends! If you’re in the market for an amazing tailor I would HIGHLY recommend! I should add, I last minute asked for dry cleaning as well. They managed to deconstruct and clean my dress in just 3 days. 5 STARS!

I have had at least 25 to 30 items altered and cleaned here over the past 11 months and they consistently do a great job. The tailors are very experienced and professional and they notice things that need to be altered that I don’t see right away, such as sleeves that need to be taken in. The work is always finished in good time, is always extremely well done and they have handled very tight turn around time for me with ease. I am a collector of rare and delicate designer and vintage items that have been cleaned in addition to being altered. Prior to discovering this service, for the last 30 years I have only trusted Creeds with these garments. However, this cleaner is also a service provider that I trust. They are very careful with my items and I have never been disappointed. They are also conveniently located. The staff are very friendly and the focus is definitely on providing a great customer experience. I brought my bridesmaid dress in to The Tailor and Cleaner a month before I needed it ready. They reassured me it would be done with plenty of time to spare. When I dropped it off and got measured, they told me to come back in a week and further adjustments could be made if necessary. When I went back a week later my dress had not been touched and they needed to re-measure me. When I went back the third time the dress wouldn't even do up. They asked me if I had gained weight, which I hadn't. RUDE! Also, untrue. It had been just over a week, trust me... I was watching my carbs. They told me to come back the next week. So, here I am being stuck going back a FOURTH time, which was one day before the wedding. Can you imagine the stress that put on me??? A DAY BEFORE! The dress was still too snug, but they said they couldn't loosen it further due to the cut. Blaming the dress??? Unbelievable. So on the day of the wedding, I get the dress on... and let me tell you I could barely breathe. And then while I was mid-speech, my dress popped open and the button FLEW off and hit the bride's grandma RIGHT IN THE EYE!! The wedding was ruined, and my friend still won't speak to me. What I'm trying to say is... I don't recommend this place unless you want to ruin your life.

This place does amazing alterations with a fast turn around. I dropped off a couple of designer jeans to be hemmed as well as an original hem. It was done beautifully. I also had to get a pair of jeans repaired by the zipper area that ripped from the belt to the bottom of the zipper, the repair was flawless.

I’m upset. I took an expensive cashmere wrap coat to The Tailor and the Cleaner. The pushy and domineering Owner wouldn’t let me get a word in edgewise. He overrode my comments about the length of the coat and pinned it too short. As a result, the coat is now too short. He then eventually called and left a message to flippantly inform me that I’d given the “okay.”This “okay” was given with apprehension. I should have walked out the door with my coat when I first encountered his disregard. In addition to this, the sleeves were not shortened as agreed. Not only am I upset about the length and the sleeves but what was supposed to be a pickup date of 10 days became 17 days with 3 fruitless attempts to pick it up. This bad experience was a costly one. I would not recommend this place.

I've had a fantastic experience here for alteration and cleaning of my suits, dress shirts, and trousers. The service is exceptional and been very pleased with the end results. All the garments fit and looked so much better on me post-alteration. Staff are highly knowledgeable in identifying the appropriate alterations needed. Also, they take into account the garment's fabric/cloth properties before making any adjustments (or cleaning), which is something very rarely done at other places in my experience. Also, Davido and his team helped me achieve an impeccable fit for my wedding tux (made bespoke at Davido Afnani's next door) .

I had an amazing experience at The Tailor and cleaner. I was referred by a boutique store Yorkville. The staff was friendly, professional and helpful. I couldn't ask for a better experience. The team went out of their way to help me achieve the perfect fit for my wedding dress. While the alterations weren't cheap, they were worth every cent. The dress I got altered looks custom-made and perfect now. I was also impressed by the fact that they talked me out of some unnecessary alterations, which I really appreciated. The facility is clean and nice as well. The added touch of Latte next door at their coffee shop is also great. I also liked the online booking functionality, which was intuitive and easy to use. I would highly recommend their services to anyone.

I had passed by this location a few times and it had a nice inviting store front, made a call to the store, professional friendly phone call , so I decided to bring in a jacket that I needed to altered. This was way more than I had expected, what I had asked for was a difficult task and they did such a good job that I am going to bring all my clothes there now forever!! A fantastic job was done repairing a pair of green cashmere dress pants I own. There was a small hole in the pant leg and I was worried it would grow larger. I had two other tailors refuse to complete the repair because it was to complicated. Got an off the rack sport coat altered here. Davido and Danny will take care of you! They give you pointers on what alterations are needed to look your best. They will also explain to you why and how the alterations are made, giving you knowledge for future tailoring / purchases. Not only that, I needed the alterations done within one day for a business trip and they could accommodate my request.

Davido and his associates demonstrate excellent knowledge of cloth and construction, as well as attention to detail. I have had several shirts and trousers altered here. Each time, Davido has been knowledgeable regarding how to alter the garment based on the specific cloth it is made of, to accommodate its' properties. He is also helpful regarding which particular seams should be modified to achieve a better fit. His seamstress demonstrates attention to detail in execution of the alterations, accommodating patterns in the fabric appropriately. In culmination, I have been very happy with the work I have received from The Tailor and the Cleaner, and continue to trust them with my more expensive garments and complex jobs.
