I had to ask them if they could do a rush job this afternoon because something at work came up and I couldn't pick it up for Friday. They were able to accomodate me and get my suit done perfectly. This was my first visit here. I was well taken care of, a custom suit I had that was too big after weight loss was measured, pinned and taken in in about a week. The gentleman who used to hem my clothes doesn't work there anymore, in his place, now a middle aged guy is running the business. Considering all the good reviews I thought it would be as good as it was before, but I was mistaken, not only the receptionist was really rude (sounding like she hated her job) but the services are now really overpriced (he wanted $95 for hemming a 150 coat). I won't ever come back there and wouldn't recommend the services to anyone, since there are many other good tailors in town.

Had some traditional Indian dresses I needed altered pretty significantly and they did an awesome job. When I tried it on again at their location, the arms still felt big but didn’t have time as I needed to get this to the dry cleaners so they did it super quickly on the spot (<10min) which was really kind. I always come to Magic Tailor for any of my tailor needs. They have altered dresses, pants and jackets for me. They are always quick, extremely reliable, and their prices are very reasonable. I came in to pick up an item last week and mentioned that I had a hole in my winter jacket and would bring it in when the weather warmed as I didn't want to be without it in the cold. They said "no problem" and fixed it on the spot for me right then and there. They also altered a dress for my 6 month-pregnant sister just days before my wedding when she realized that she would need to purchase a brand new dress at the last minute. All in all, such great service!

Magic tailor is by far the most accommodating tailor in downtown Toronto. Not only do they deliver excellent work, their prices are exceptionally reasonable. It is hard to find handy work that isn't 10x it's worth nowadays, but Magic Tailor definitely makes it worth every penny. I bought two jeans off Zara online and couldn't return them because they fit perfectly at the legs, but were just a little too big at the waist (extra fabric, loose waistband). I brought them in and tried them on, and they took some measurements with chalk and some pins. My two pairs of jeans were ready 3 days later (because I was not in a rush), and they charged me 25$ per pants. The work was impeccable, and they fit perfectly! Couldn't be happier, it makes me want to tailor every pair of jeans I have because they just look so good. I highly recommend this spot, and alongside all these pluses, the staff is very friendly and warm. Will definitely go back for any alterations in the future! Thank you Magic Tailor!

I brought in 3 pairs of pants. 2 to be hemmed and 1 that would be tapered as well. Not only were the lengths of the pants different lengths, but the one pair I took in to get tapered was completely ruined. The side seams were twisting towards the front. When I tried them on to show them, they said that it's because of the "cheap factory default" and said there's nothing that they can do. It wasn't until after I took them off to show them the brand, did they agree to take it back and attempt to correct it. I say attempt because the pants could not be fixed and I had to toss a brand-new expensive pair or pants which they didn't even offer to reimburse me for.

Hands down the best tailor I have ever been to. Took my boyfriend’s ill-fitted old suit here two days before we were to attend a wedding, desperate to get alterations. The gentleman pinned every inch of the suit in under five minutes and told us to come back in two days. I was floored at not only the speed at which the alterations were done, but also at the quality. The suit was taken in at the waist, sleeves were shortened, jacket shortened, pants hemmed, legs tapered, and waist let out. It looks like a brand new, and stylish, suit!! IN UNDER TWO DAYS! Oh and this was all done for under 200 dollars. Unreal. I will definitely be returning.

I went there to have a jacket altered. I had a bit of difficulty locating them. You just had to enter that building in front of Eaton Centre and take the elevator to the third floor. Upon getting there, the guy who was taking the measurements and entertaining people, was very accommodating. I asked for his opinion regarding which services to have for my jacket. He made honest remarks and only recommended the alterations needed, instead of up selling/offering other services.

Went here after so many good reviews, to have kind of a strange experience. I needed a broken zipper on a pair of jeans fixed, to which the guy said he'd do the cheaper of two options vs. replacing them. I then wore them to Wonderland, only to have them burst. I walked around for 6 hours with my belly exposed (sorry to all the teenage ride operators for flashing you all day). However, they redeemed themselves by taking the pants and finishing them in less than 24 hrs. with no additional charge for my woes. Good service, but I would've liked it on the first try.

I always bring my Brazilian Jiu Jitsu uniforms here for alterations. The tailors here do such a great job. From ensuring correct placement of patches, to reinforced stitching on seams. I highly recommend them for anyone in the area looking for high quality alterations on garments that others would never work with. A note, some people who have reviewed this place complain about the service, and rudeness. I honestly think it's simply a language/cultural difference. Don't over complicate what you want done, be friendly and I'm certain you'll get what you're looking for.

I have had many t shirts and jeans altered at Magic Tailor and the experience that sticks out to me is one time I wanted to shorten the length of the t shirt and the tailor also suggested shortening the waist and sleeves, which made the proportions much better.

I used to love this place when there was a man who used to be at the front desk. The last time I went it seemed like management had changed and I felt like I was charged a lot more than when I’d previously gone. The worksmanship was good, but just keep in mind that even at a "highly rated" place like this, the onus is still on you to keep an eye out and push back on things recommendations/fits that don't feel right. Very honest and creative person. I needed help with my coat zip and I was supposed to get it fixed however the price of the coat zip and the mending fee was almost the same ie around 70-80$ hence I had to call them up and cancel. Thankfully they were nice to understand and cancel it. I bet they are always busy but they also do address your concerns very well. They have a clean space and all the covid 19 mandatory rules are being followed. They don’t have elevator or escalator so you gotta take the stairs on the church street right next to McDonalds.

I have been meaning to leave a review for this place for ages. I love these guys and have had in excess of 20 things altered/tailored. There were 1-2 occasions where I left without trying things on (namely sleeve changes on blazers) and had to get them altered again - which they did immediately and no extra charge. I had one jacket altered 5 times (me being fussy) and every time they were polite and charged me once. I get all of my trousers and jeans tailored here and they are always spot on and will do things in an hour if I ask - again, at no extra charge. I think it's owned by a father and son. The son, Jian or Jiani (not sure how to spell!) is great. He always recommends things and gives great advice on what will look best and how best to care for materials. I think the cost is great - $10 for hemming, $20-25 for total zip replacement, catches and buttons. They have just moved and are next to the Firkin on Yonge on the 3rd floor of what looks like an office building from the outside. I would recommend for sure!

They take a reasonable amount of time to make any alterations and if you let them know you need it by a certain date, they will do their best.

I recently went to magic tailor to get 3 suits and 2 suit pants altered. Overall, I had a great experience - the prices are fair (not cheap but is worth it in my opinion: costed me around $250 in total for the 5 pieces). The place definitely can get busy, especially on the weekend. So when I went in on a Saturday afternoon, the measurement process was very quick - you essentially have to flag them down as they're juggling between measuring other customers and running to the back, so make sure to be clear of exactly what you want. When I went in for pickup, the pants turned out great, but my suit jackets were still too tight and needed to be loosened more. The owner took one look and immediately started marking up the jackets - he did not hesitate about taking the jackets back and making sure the fit is perfect. This dedication to making sure the clients are completely satisfied truly shows the integrity of the workers here - the biggest reason to why I would recommend magic tailor and also believe that the prices are justified When I came back again to pick up the jackets after work, I came in with a small rip on the suit pants that I was wearing. I asked the owner if he can help me quickly fix it as I did not have another pair of pants and would have to wait in the change room - he did not hesitate to take it to the back and it was fixed in less than 5 minutes - again goes to show the dedication to serve the customer. In conclusion, I had a great experience at magic tailor and definitely would return in the future.

I've been two separate times and the results were exceptional on each occasion. I had zips sewn into pockets for one of my coats, which was quite expensive, but the results were robust, in keeping with the look of the jacket and should last a long, long time. The second time I wanted straps from a worn out bag to be reattached. The tailor did it in 5-10 minutes for a minimal price, and yet the results look excellent. If I need any textile repairs or modifications, I will be back and would recommend Magic Tailor to others. Give them a try.

I had to get a suit altered just a few days before an event. I was stressed as this was my first time coming to this shop, I needed sleeves shortened from the shoulder (which apparently is tricky and some tailors can't do well) and pants shortened. The guy who helped me was very friendly, explained everything well and was confident that he'd do a great job. He was able to make it work with my tight deadline and the results were impressive. They put a lot of attention to detail and there is no way to tell the suit was altered as the job was done very neatly and precisely. Plus, it was affordable and I feel like I should have paid more for this quality. I will definitely go back there if I need some alterations.

I have been going to Magic Tailor for years whenever I need clothing altered, mostly, shortening a new pair of pants. The service has always been professional, friendly and overall at an amazing value. I know others who use different tailors that can't even get shortening a pair of pants right on the first try and they overcharge. I keep trying to tell others about Magic Tailor, they re honestly the best tailor in Toronto! Magic Tailor moved to a new location at Queen at Church. A better sign would be useful, like a sandwich board on the sidewalk. It's right beside Henry's on Church near the McDonald's. I know it sounds simple but I bet you many others have issues finding the place. Other than fixing the sign, this place is the best!

The result, the length of the hem was too long and they only tapered below the knee when it should have been along the whole inseam. That resulted in a weird and baggy looking thigh. I now have to bring this to another tailer and hopefully they can salvage my $200 pair of jeans.

Without a doubt, the best tailor in Toronto. 30 years ago my husband had an Italian custom made double breasted silk suit made which cost him $1500.00 for our wedding that he also wore three additional times. Rather than disposing of it, he decided to call the boutique where it was custom made for him. They were more interested in selling him a new suit that would cost him between $3,000 - $5,000. While surfing the internet for a tailor he came across “Magic Tailor” reviews were great and he decided to take the suit in to be tailored and restyled. Two weeks later he received a call indicating that the suit was ready for a fitting he went in and was amazed the suit that had an 80’s flare was modern and up-to-date style wise. The pants and jacket looked and fit amazing. A shout out to the tailor and the stylist that measured my husband and who did a fantastic job. If my husband could he would give them 10 stars. ????

Really disappointed. I have been to this tailor before to get my own wedding parties clothing altered, and they did an awesome job.. In May I had brought my dress in for a friends wedding that needed quite a bit of work. Shortening of the hem and bringing in the cups on the dress. I let him know my concerns early on and the tailor assured me if would fit nicely once the straps were brought up and took a bit off the center stitching. When I went to pick the dress up, the bust was clearly still too big and the wedding was days away ( I could look right down the dress to my belly button) . He told me he would fix it within a days time, and again assured me that it would look great. I went the next day to pick it up and when I went to try it on I noticed it still looked terrible . All he did was put a stitch in the center of the bust to make it smaller which caused the ruching to bunch up and look messy in other places. With no time to keep fixing it, I just took the dress and left since I flew out the next day. When I arrived in the city where the wedding was held, we rushed it to another tailor and she fixed it within 2 hours and only charged $15. As soon as I put the dress on, she let the stitch out that the tailor had put in the first time. It still was not completely fixed and I had to tape the dress down but it was a lot better than what Magic Tailors did to the dress the first time. Judging by the other clientele, this tailor is only really for hemming pants and nothing too complex like a bridesmaid dress.

They always alter things quickly, and are open to suggestions that could bring the cost down. For example, I brought in a sundress that was too big around the waist but had a lace pattern that would require a lot of work to align. I wasn’t too fussy about that, and they were okay putting in an elasticized waist to bring down the cost for me. Great and quick service!

I strongly recommend trying on your article of clothing before leaving. Hit or miss. Typically no issue with really simple alterations. Dresses come back too loose or too tight and poorly altered. As another reviewer mentioned, the dress alternations bunches in certain areas where it should lay flat. The service has gone down substantially in recent years now that the original owners children have largely taken over the business. My last alternation was to take up the straps of a cocktail dress. I paid ~$50 and it was so poorly done it cause significant irritation on my shoulder during the wedding I wore it to. I returned to have it fixed but I left frustrated after the lack of service after a 30 min wait (they had only one person working on the weekend). I have not (and will not) return to this business.

I feel like puking after getting some work done here. I went in to get a one-of-a-kind vintage sweater with a big logo on the front shortened. Easy project, right? Well...long story short, my sweater is ruined. it was shortened waaaay too much, to the point where the logo is cut off! Looking through the other one star reviews, it seems Magic Tailor has a history of shortening clothes way too much. So what happened? A haughty older italian gentleman with a thick accent took care of me. He rushed me, and did not bother to take the time to understand what I wanted. I won't be going back, even though the girls working the front desk were pretty cute.

Very poor work product and customer service. I brought 2 sets of new pants into the Magic Tailor, was measured, and had them both hemmed. Cost was $20 each or $40 total. Full disclosure, I didnt try the pants on when I picked them up as I assumed the tailoring would match the measurements taken. I wore the pants over the next week or so but found them both to be very short. Upon going back the Magic Tailor to have the pants altered to the correct length, the owner tried to charge me $20 per pant (so $80 all in cost for correct hemming). I politely contested this amount since I was asking for a correction to his poor tailoring job, and the owner raised his voice and berated me in front of other customers. Needless to say, I walked out and will need to get a correction job done on Magic Tailors poor hemming job elsewhere.
