I had a wonderful experience! Georgia is fantastic! Thank You!❤️
I own Vibes for Life next door to The Sewing House and I have had the great pleasure of know the owner Georgia for the last yr. Several of my member have used her services have great things to say! Keep up the good job!
Wonderful lady, wonderful work! Has done my wedding dress ( a complete makeover and turned out wonderful! ) and altered a bridesmaid dress for me! Definitely a repeat client here!!
Had an appointment booked for 230 today, I arrived in the front door was locked so I proceeded to call. She apologized and said that there was freezing rain so she didn’t come into work that day. I live 35 minutes away and I never received a cancellation email nor did she seem to care. Very unprofessional and it was a big inconvenience. Measures for closure are not being implemented until this Thursday January 14th.. if you were nonessential you wouldn’t and shouldn’t have been taking appointments in the first place. And for the record you never mentioned in your email to call ahead of time I have a copy of this. You are not in control of the weather Georgia but you are in control of having better form in notifying your booked customers about cancellations and not blaming your tardiness on outside factors. Is that legitimate for you now? have a good day.
Disgusted that our kinds found a STRAIGHT EDGED RAZOR inside the tube cover after we took it here to be fixed. Not only was it a terrible job......the patch tore the first time we used it and the repair area was sewn to the opposite side of the cover. My biggest concern here is not the shoddy job done but the lack of SAFTEY measures used when handling people’s possessions. I called and they apologized but did not offer us our money back. Buyer be aware. And then to remove my review from their Facebook page. Ahhhh the power of social media......after leaving this review and only after leaving it do I receive a call back that goes to my voice mail “if you can sew why didn’t you do it yourself, out the goodness of our hearts we did the job for you rushed, people make mistakes, Dr’s leave things inside patients, if it was money you were after you should have said, take down the review or I will leave a rebuttal”. Well not that it’s any of your business....however the reason I didn’t do it myself was because I have a shoulder injury and was also busy running my own business....of which has great customer service. Not sure what a Dr’s actions have to do with this situation....but ok I agree accidents do happen....it’s how you deal with the after affects of the “accident” that leaves an even worse taste in customers mouths. If you were too busy to do a “good” job (of which we paid you extra for) you should have said. And it was never about the money as you so crudely accused me of.....it was about the horror of the RAZOR, the shoddy job and the way oh handled it. You as I would have.....should have offered me a refund and apologized profusely for, what could have been a horrific experience if someone had been hurt. I didn’t want to mere $30 back. You also stated in you’re message to call you back, remove my review or you would be forced to leave a rebuttal to my message.....go right ahead.....Yet after all this let it be a lesson to you “check everything that goes out of you’re door and learn how to give good customer service.
Absolutely amazing. The customer service is like nothing else. I had gotten my prom dress altered here, and it was everything I'd envisioned. 10/10 would recommend to my peers.
I brought in a dress that was not fitting right at all and by the end, it fit like it was made just for me. Friendly service and great results. Thank you!
I never leave bad reviews. This is the first ever. 1. They BUTCHERED a $200 garment. I asked for a simple zipper to be put in. The zipper is puckered and uneven and there is a HOLE. If it was too difficult due to the material, I would rather they have told me they couldn't do it. 2. My order wasn't completed on time. They told me to come back in half an hour. I gave them an hour for good measure. I had to stand around and wait for 20 more minutes making us late for an important event. 3. The seamstresses seemed to think that calling me "honey" and "my cutie" would extend my patience. UNPROFESSIONAL. I'm a patron. The fact that I'm young should not effect the way I'm spoken to.
I had an amazing experience! I barely had 2 weeks to have my wedding dress altered and it was done to exactly how I wanted it to be! She was so friendly and amazing! I would go here for everything I needed to get fixed! 10/10 the best experience I ever had!
I received such great customer service and the staff were so helpful. I am recommending my friends! Thank you so much for your assistance, I will be back!
She did my wedding dress which was huge on me brought it from like a size 16 to a size 6
I had a bridesmaid's dress altered by Georgia. She is so efficient she had it done in DAYS. She is very friendly and I felt comfortable during all fittings.
I had my bridesmaid's dress fitted here and the staff did an amazing job - it fit me like a glove - and she did it in just a couple of days (I had to get it rushed as the wedding was the next weekend)! The staff were friendly and the price was right! (She also had some beautiful bridal accessories if anyone's looking.)
Georgia practically remade my 2 bridesmaid dresses. She saved my wedding day and made took my stress level way down. Georgia had to let out dresses, remake skirts and fix bust lines and had it done in a week and a half! She's such a sweet lady and I'll definitely be using her again for devices!
Great service,. Georgia and her staff have done a great job in hemming multiple pairs of my dress pants, and jeans. Also a suit jacket and a pair of ski pants. Very pleased.
Super helpful and accommodating, and a great price as well! I'll definitely be back!
Friendly staff. Good work
One of the best seamstresses I've ever had. I will not take my clothes to anyone else. Anything that I want is never a challenge and she is the most creative person when it comes to designing things.
I highly recommend this place, staff is amazing! Excellent workmenship! I am impressed!
Georgia was great! She worked with my budget to transform my moms wedding dress into my own! Will definitely be back and recommend!
I had to get my two bridesmaid dresses fitted and altered for a wedding on July 8 and 16. My alteration appointment was on June 29th, and it was excellent! Georgia was friendly, and took all my measurements in a timely fashion. I paid the full deposit up front. I went to pick up my dresses on July 4th, however when I went there, they weren’t ready. Georgia said that she needed to re-measure the one dress. The other dress was still 2 inches too long when I tried it on, and so she had re-hem that one. I was disappointed that I did not get a call letting me know that the dresses would not be ready. She said they would be ready the following day. I sent my husband to pick up the dresses on July 5th before closing time, and Georgia said that her assistant must have forgotten to tell her that we would be picking up the dresses that day. She told my husband that it would be a 45 minute wait, and that she would only be able to finish the one dress. I was pretty upset at this point because the weddings were approaching, and this is the third time I/my husband had been there. I left Georgia a voicemail message expressing my disappointment, and asking her to call me back to clarify the confusion. I never received a call back. I went on July 7th to pick up the second dress, and it was finally ready. Georgia’s assistant was about to put it in the clear bag, but then I noticed a snag at the bottom of the dress. I was pretty enraged at this point (although I kept my composure). I asked where Georgia was, and the assistant said she had stepped out. The assistant was able to fix the snag so that it was not as noticeable. Just as I was about to leave, Georgia walked in. I asked her why she had not returned my voicemail the other day, and she had said that she was really busy, and was not able to get around to it. I also expressed that I did not appreciate her not getting in touch with me to let me know that the dresses were not going to be ready on those two occasions. She apologized, but then shrugged it off and said that it’s a really busy time of the year because of prom season, and that I was lucky she was able to accommodate me on such short notice. Georgia asked if there was anything that she could do, and I asked if she would be able to refund me some of my money since I paid the full deposit (which was so dumb of me to do in the first place). Georgia said that she gave me such a “good deal” on the two dresses that it would be “impossible” for her to do. She said she could give me a $50.00 voucher (which was her literally writing “50.00 store credit” at the back of her business card) to use in store or for alterations. I thanked her, but said that I would not be using her services in the future. Had the first visit been my only visit, I would have given this 4 stars. Unfortunately, the customer service and work ethic was so disgusting afterwards, that I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Georgina altered two of my dresses and did an incredible job. One included lace, boning and adding a deeper V and it turned out perfect! The second dress, a bridesmaid dress, was chiffon and very delicate. The changes were so subtle and professionally done. I couldn't have asked for better! Excellent value for incredible work.
Georgia was a lifesaver! With phase 1 reopening happening a week earlier in June I was able to re-book my wedding within 3 days. The only problem is that my suit wasn't tailored/ fitted. Georgia squeezed me in and did an amazing job. On top of that my sister needed her bridesmaid dress altered as well, and was fit in as well. Georgia made the process extremely easy when I was under a huge amount of stress. 5 stars isn't a high enough rating!
I am a person who is very picky of where I take my clothing too. I have continously taken my belongings to The Sewing House and have never been disappointed. I believe that ratings are good and bad because when people are unhappy...they make a spectical of the business. If i had nothing nice to say...i wouldn't say anything at all as it is slanderous and uncalled for. If you are unhappy just call the owner and speak to her. She is a beautiful woman who will work with u. They are great prices and professional people. Miss Georgia has a great personality. Will always take my business here. As well Miss Georgia being super busy...fit my daughter in for her Grade 8 grad dress. But not only that...she gave my daughter a diamond head band as a grad gift!!
Needed pants hemmed for work and she had us done in fifteen minutes. Good job on the hem too.
I have never done this before but I want others to know what I experienced with this establishment. I took a raincoat into the shop on June 19 to have a zipper replaced and it has become the experience from hell. I have been to their shop four times to pick up the coat and they still haven't managed to do anything other than install a blue zipper in a black coat. They have apologized and repeatedly promised to have the coat repaired, but today (two weeks after their last promise) I still don't have my coat. If I hadn't paid for the service up front I would have simply taken my coat elsewhere the first time they didn't deliver. If my coat isn't ready tomorrow I will simply have to try to retrieve it and find a service that knows the difference between blue and black, and delivers on its promises.
I love going to Georgia at the Sewing House for all my alteration and decor needs! She makes outstanding pillow covers with any fabric I bring to her. I recently had my bridesmaid dress altered and it is amazing! You can't tell it has been altered and it fits like a glove! I could not be more happy. She shows compassion, dedication and kindness every time. She is a delight to chat with. Very understanding and caring person. Can't wait to work more with her in the future! :)
I just got married a few months ago and I had a great experience with Georgia. She's actually better than any tailor in the Simcoe area. She was highly recommended by a friend of mine who also just got married. She is professional and extremely talented. I am also a business owner and a mother who just read Melissa's review. It's very disappointing to see a woman bash another woman's business online. Especially after Georgia offered the alterations on the house! Georgia, like everyone else, is a human being, and a mom trying to be there for her kids. I feel Melissa is being spiteful, for her to try to ruin Georgia's reputation. If Melissa's husband is reading this, Take a look at the person you're marrying for the rest of your life! I feel bad for you buddy if you ever mess up! For goodness sake, the wedding is in four months, not next week! For the future brides out there, don't let Melissa's negativity stop you from getting your dress tailored to fit like a glove.
Had a great experience with the sewing house. I needed a lace dress taken in and taken up, the dress had to be taken apart. It turned out perfect. Georgia did an incredibly job and always made me feel welcome. Will definitely be returning.
Georgia is the greatest! This review is long over due, my wedding was August 2017. She literally saved my wedding day by fixing the botched job another so-called "professional" had done on my wedding dress. She was horrified at what had been done to my dress & got to work right away. I stood on the platform in front of the mirrors & she actually laid down on the floor with a tape measure & lots of pins, she had to measure it all the way around as the length varied by up to 2". Because the other woman had done such a hatchet job, the hem couldn't be made totally even, but because chiffon is somewhat forgiving, it didn't really show. Georgia also pointed out that the corset laces were UPSIDE DOWN...something the other "professional" didn't know or care about. She laced me into it & invited my friend to come back to the fitting so she could show her how to lace it for my wedding day. The price was very reasonable & this lovely woman even gave me a loonie for the parking meter when she realized I was short of coins! Thank you, Georgia, you are my saviour! I recently took a vintage dress which had belonged to my great grandmother to Georgia & she outdid herself once again, making some adjustments, adding a new zipper & steaming it so I could see what it really looks like. (and also for a very reasonable price) Check in during December, I'll post some pictures!
I got my pants fixed here. The girl who fixed them. Was super sweet. Kind and very friendly. It only took about 5 mins to get them fixed and lved what they dud. Highly suggest this shop.
Friendly and good at what they do
This place is wonderful, she fixed my pants within 5 minutes.
Awesome service
I found the sewing house like most these days, on google. I read the reviews and determined I would take a chance on my classic looking 15 year old Moores suit. It was worth nothing in the closet. I was so big I was swimming in it. The look I was after was a expensive slim European suit. I was hesitant it was possible, but with the utmost confidence Georgia said. “No problem”. We analyzed all the angles, set a realistic deadline, and let the magic unfold. Lucky we had enough time for a second fitting for a few tweaks. When it was all said and done My wife and I were blown away! The suit was a perfect fitted European suit. I was very impressed. I highly recommend the sewing house! Thanks again.
Picked up my wedding gown and found coffee stains on multiple spots. Very disappointed.
My girlfriend and I picked up our bridesmaids dresses today.. we couldn’t be more pleased! They turned out perfect for us. Georgia was quick, and to the point. We can’t thank you enough, such a lovely lady. It was great meeting you. Brittany and Stacey
Love the sewing house... Georgia added a hook and eye to my Grad 8 grad dress for a very great price!! She also gave me a diamond head band for FREE. Georgia treated me amazing making me comfortable in my dress as I am not a dress girl.
Never open on time. Tried to have a few suits tailored again this morning, this time waited for 20 minutes and left. While I was waiting, another customer came and said that he has been there 3 times and they are never open at 10am.
REVISION 2015-09-10: I would just like to comment on the Sewing House's response to the below review stating that the workmanship was addressed and everything was fixed. As stated at the bottom of my initial review, the workmanship was not addressed. 1 dress was left with a hole in the shoulder which I will restate we brought to their attention and were given blank stares and 1 dress was left with the skirt too short and puckered. Thanks Sewing House for proving yet again that you are not to be trusted. Unprofessional Attitude and Atrocious Quality of Work Brought 1 out of 4 bridesmaid dresses in to request a quote-only in the first visit and was given an invoice at the end of the appointment without my consent. Because the price was reasonable, I figured we wouldn’t get a better one anywhere else and the lady seemed nice, if a little condescending. She seems to like to call people Hun and Sweetie. I don’t personally like that but I overlooked it and we left the first dress with them, with their confirmation that the other dresses would be quoted exactly the same. 2 more of the dresses went in over the next week and the 4th dress made it there about a week and a half or two weeks after the first dress went in. The fourth dress was priced more than double what the other girls were paying for the exact same alterations. I was not there unfortunately so my bridesmaid paid it and called me about it later. She was told that this was their new pricing and the other three must have gotten a special deal. We were not given a special deal, the prices of the first three dresses matched their website pricing exactly. I called them and was then told she would be reimbursed when she went in to pick the dress up after alterations were done. We were told they would all be ready by June 15th – three weeks after the first dress went in. The beginning of July came and we still hadn’t received a call. My wedding was July 11th and they knew this. When I called to ask about the status one girl mentioned they hadn’t even been touched but they would be ready by the end of the day. That was not overly comforting. During one of the girls’ fittings, her fiancé overheard the Sewing House staff insulting our dresses openly. When we finally had the dresses picked up, the stitching was terrible. It was falling apart, it wasn’t even, it was inconsistent and it looked like a five year old had done it. Two of the dresses had massive holes where the shoulders had been stitched by the time they were brought home and being hung in the closet, one of the dresses was hemmed over an inch too short and the stitching at the back made the skirt pucker – making it even shorter. Three of the dresses had to be returned once, two of them had to be returned twice because they could not fix their errors and just to keep the fun going, one of these two dresses wasn’t ready until the day before my wedding and still had a hole in it and broken stitching. There was no apology, no compensation for how terribly everything went and when we calmly addressed our dissatisfaction with them in person they just stared at us blankly and didn’t say a thing. We had the last dress that was still not in good order in front of them, and they had nothing to say as they were staring at a hole in the dress they should have fixed weeks ago. I have never seen such a lack of care. Ive met Tim Hortons employees with more passion for their jobs than these lazy hens. If you want to take the risk here, that is on you. But I can never ever recommend anyone go here for any reason. I had my own wedding gown in with an absolutely wonderful seamstress in Barrie who advised me that Sewing House are not skilled professionals and they simply know how to do a pant hem but anything beyond that shouldn’t be taken there. She wasn’t bashing them and actually she was quite reluctant to speak ill of another seamstress but she told me the truth and said she gets their screw ups all the time and has to fix their poor quality of work regularly.
It is quite unfortunate that I have to leave such a bad review; however, after my last encounter with The Sewing House, I am very disappointed. I went in to have a bridesmaid's dress altered: shoulders and hem lifted, as well as both sides taken in. The first time I went in, my experience was fine. Nothing special, but I can't complain. I was charged almost $100.00 more than I should have been, but the bride contacted the shop and was told I would be given a refund for this amount. I went in at 1:30pm on the day they told me it would be ready for pick-up (two weeks later) and was told that it was next in line to get altered. I was a little disappointed at this point, but I asked if I could receive my refund at this time. The employee who served me was unable to do a refund, and the owner was in with a bridal appointment. I left the store a bit frustrated and asked for them to call me when my dress was ready. I picked up my dress the following week and tried it on in the store - it fit quite well and the alterations I had asked for were complete. I received my refund this day and left the store pleased. When I got home, I tried on the dress once more and noticed that the stitching on the shoulders (where the alterations were done) was coming apart. I told the bride and she brought it back in, along with another bridesmaid dress that had alteration issues, to be fixed at no extra charge. When we went to pick up my dress, I noticed that the one shoulder hadn't been touched and there was still a hole in the seam where the stitching was coming undone. I was very upset, as I had paid good money to have it altered and the wedding was the next day. I went back into the store after examining the dress in my car to inform them of the hole and to tell them that I was very disappointed in their quality. I did not raise my voice or get angry, I just wanted them to know what was coming out of their store; as a business owner myself, I would want to know if poor quality items were leaving my doors. The employee just stared at us, not saying a word, and the owner did not come to the desk to talk with me (she was sitting in the back room, in plain view and earshot of the counter). Once I was done speaking to her, she said "Thanks ladies, you have a great day" and motioned toward the door. I understand it was not the employee's fault that my dress was not fixed properly; however, the way in which it was dealt was completely unprofessional and disappointing to say the least. I felt as though we were being kicked out of the store because we had a complaint. I have two friends getting married in the next couple of months, and I just recently got engaged, and I can say with certainty that I will not be recommending The Sewing House to my friends, nor will I be using their services for my wedding next summer.
Please do not go anywhere else besides The Sewing House in Barrie (new store opening in Midland) This is a fantastic store for alterations: the care is the best I have ever experienced, the customer service is second to none, and most importantly, the alterations are seamless (no pun intended) I cannot speak highly enough of this place and in my opinion, it is the only real option to go to if you are in Simcoe County (I have gone to countless alteration shops and this one is the best bar none)
I had a very expensive piece of skydiving clothing altered/butchered by the imbeciles at this business. It did not fit proper and when I finally used it all The stitching fell apart. To make matters worse it was two months past the due date and they were very hard to work with. Under no circumstances would I recommend anyone from this business ever altering another piece of expensive clothing. Keep them busy with hemming pants but do not allow them anything that has worth
Great food and great prices!
Georgia did AMAZING work , I had a wedding dress that was way too big and I wanted the whole back reworked , she made it my dream and is so beyond friendly . Will definitely be going back and recommending her to everyone .
**UPDATE* I met with Georgia today at The Sewing House and I showed her the collars in person and we went through each one to see if they could be fixed. They were unable to be fixed and she gave me a full refund for the issue which was for the amount paid for the sewing. Thank you for that. I am glad that we were able to resolve this. Horrible experience with this business. **PHOTOS ATTACHED** I was just about to launch the first products for my dog business. Georgia agreed to sew 100 dog collars 2 weeks ago. I went to pick them up today and the better sewn collars were at the top of the bag and we checked and paid already. When I got home and checked the rest it was a different story. None of the collars can be saved and a complete loss of my investment in the materials. The collars were not sewn on the adjuster and that is dangerous because a dog could potentially break the collar, the logos were crooked and not centered, some were missing logos, some of the logos were sewn over the edge of the collar, and some were even upside down. The stitch lines were not followed on the logo and were all over the place. The threads were lose and sticking out of the webbing on the collars. I was misled by Georgia saying that she was a professional and I could count on her to complete this work for the price we agreed to. This was nothing close to a professional job. I will be contacting for a full refund on this service.
I have personally recommended The Sewing House for alterations on wedding gowns, prom gowns, mother-of-the-bride gowns, evening gowns and other fancy wear. I have personally verified the completion and quality of many alterations, and can confidently confirm that the workmanship is excellent, the prices very reasonable, the commitment to deadlines exemplary, and the flexibility and service provided exceptional. Complicated and/or extensive jobs often require fine-tuning. The Sewing House works with each customer until they are satisfied, even when the scope changes and/or more work is involved than originally planned. If a customer does not consider or allow for this, then they should expect to be leaving with a possibly imperfect or incomplete alteration. Many of the previous reviews are not relevant to the current owner and seamstress... unfortunately, that is how google works. I encourage those considering The Sewing House to trust the positive reviews and recognize that there are many, many satisfied and repeat customers. The evidence is in the longevity of this local business.
