I had the most amazing experience at this boutique. I came here right after an appointment at David's Bridal, and I am so glad I did. You're greeted so warmly right when you walk in, and a sign asks you to take off your shoes so you don't drag salt and dirt into the store. I LOVE this, because it shows they really respect their store as well as the guests that come inside. We were very early, approximately 20 minutes early so I had expected to sit down and wait for a bit but no! We were greeted IMMEDIATELY by our consultant Kathryn and brought over to our little area with a couch and a pedestal. She engaged us in conversation to try and get a feel what we were like and what we were looking for. After informing her that we were eloping, that we were going on an adventure wedding in Madagascar which involves hiking and fun activities, she asked if I had some reference photos which of course I did. I showed her ones I had pulled off Pinterest, but also one that I had put on hold at David's Bridal just an hour prior. She is a mind reader honestly because I absolutely adored every dress she pulled off the rack. There were one or two at the beginning that I was not sold on, and she didn't take offence or make me feel guilty whatsoever about that; she just simply put it back and the next dress she chose was better. I found she actually listened to what I was wanting and the more questions she asked, the more she was able to narrow down my style and man did she ever come through. It was almost a bad thing how good she was at her job! I had so many dresses to choose from, and I loved them all. We pulled I think 10-12 dresses from the rack. They were a few different shapes, from A-Line to Sheath to Ballgown just so I could get a really good feel for what I wanted. She even found a dress SO similar to the one I had reserved at David's Bridal, which I tried on and realized I loved at least 4 other dresses so much more! I also loved that Kathryn helped me in and out of the dresses, but not too much that I had to be practically naked in front of her. She unzipped the dresses enough so that I could unzip the rest myself, which I liked and my David's Bridal consultant did not do. We tried on all of the dresses, eliminated some, tried them on again, eliminated some, and so on and so forth until we were at our top 3. We tried those on again, and it eventually became between two similar dresses but one had tiered chiffon and the other did not. I ended up choosing the tiered chiffon, and I'm so glad I did! I can't wait for my next appointment once the dress comes in and I get to try it on again! Overall my experience at this boutique was amazing. I would recommend anyone in the area go here, as they had an amazing selection of both traditional gowns (from what another bride was trying on) and the dresses that I specifically went there for (more playful, unique and modern). My consultant Kathryn was insanely helpful and I was blown away by how well and quickly she was able to discern my style and pull dresses for me. I also loved that I never once had to browse through the racks myself- she just knew what I wanted right away. It really made it a better experience that I didn't have to try on horrendous dresses just to prove to her that it wasn't something I liked; we just bypassed that entire scenario and everything I tried on was something I could imagine myself in on my wedding day. Completely unrelated to bridal needs but her accent was perfect and I could listen to her speak all day long. I can't wait to get that phone call from the shop to tell me that my dress is in and I need to come try it on again to decide if I need any alterations! Thank you so much to Kathryn and everyone else at Helen's Bridal for making this a great experience for someone who hates dresses, shopping and attention. :)

I first came to Helen's when it was in Dunlop street. I brought my mom and two friends for wedding dress shopping. We had an attendant assigned to us and she was wonderful and helpful. The dresses were beautiful and I was quite pleased! I returned a few weeks later to purchase my dress. I've since been to their new location twice. Every time I'm there I'm greeted in a very friendly way and I feel special every time I go in! They also gave us a swatch of my mom's dress colour so she could use it when shopping for accessories. I would absolutely recommend Helen's Bridal for any bride, bridesmaid or mother of the bride!!

I found the dress of my dream's at Helen's. It was absolutely perfect and I loved it... except for how it looked from the back. I have scoliosis and the dress was not sitting the way it was supposed to at the back. It was off-center and looked horrific. I was afraid of not being able to wear the dress for my wedding. However, Joanne is amazing! She has been doing bridal alterations for a very long time and has a wealth of experience. She is very meticulous and is not satisfied until the dress is fitting absolutely perfect! By the time she was done with the alterations, it was fitting the way it was supposed to and you couldn't even tell that it had been altered at all! Thanks to Joanne and her expertise, I was able to wear the dress of my dreams and it looked beautiful! I received so many compliments on it on my wedding day. Thank you Joanne!!!

I went to about 20 different Bridal stores and Helen's Bridal was by far the best experience. The consultant I worked with was Rebecca and she was super sweet, understanding, and helpful with input, but also gave us time alone to discuss and look around. The boutique is very clean and spacious and it's well-decorated. Everyone who works there is super nice and their prices are definitely reasonable with a great selection. I unfortunately didn't end up buying my dress from here but I would wholeheartedly recommend coming to Helen's Bridal in Barrie, definitely worth the drive for me.

2 years ago I went to Helen's as a bridesmaid in my cousins wedding, and left with both a beautiful dress and a genuine sense of satisfaction thanks to the staff. Yesterday I returned and bought my wedding dress! Once again I was greeted (and recognized!) by Stacey and 2 other lovely consultants, and treated to a wonderful session. Having been disappointed by other dress shops in Mississauga, I was confused about what the bridal experience should be. Within minutes Helen's clearly defined it: support, attention, acute knowledge of their merchandise and a genuine willingness to get to know the bridal party on a personal level! Stacey was also impeccable at reading my needs as a bride. In fact the first dress she pulled for me ended up being THE ONE! And strangely enough, 2 years ago when my cousin was there as a bride Stacey pulled her choice on the first try too! I can't thank the staff at Helen's enough. I can't wait to see my dress when it comes in in a few months!!!

Came here feeling discouraged from the other bridal stores I’ve been to... The whole experience was WONDERFUL! Carrie knew what I was looking for, she picked out all the dress styles I loved!! Just before Covid hit I was planning on doing bridesmaid dress shopping with my wedding party. I was trying to find a place to book and I found Helen’s bridal. I had booked an appointment online and then the world shut down. Yarka Went so far above and beyond any expectations I could’ve ever had. She was so wonderful and really helped with everything. We have the dresses picked out and ordered. Although we had to change the date of the wedding I still feel confident and happy that we have our beautiful bridesmaid dresses picked out. If i could give 0 stars i would. This place was a nightmare - from the owners ordering the wrong dress and size to there being visible seams in the bust-line in a $200+ dress. They tried to tell me to order a size 6 and thank god i insisted on ordering an 8, when my dress arrived i wouldn't have fit in the 6. I called the owner and complained about the visible seam across the bust-line, her response was 'You have a lighter coloured dress so more will show' OK i have ordered plenty of dresses from different designers for much less and have never had this issue. She took pictures and told me she would contact the sales rep. She reassured she would contact me the next day.. that was 3 weeks ago and i have yet to receive a call. The alterations girls forgot to hem the length of my dress so the dress is now destroyed from being stepped on at the wedding. They also placed the mother of the brides dress in the August weddings (the wedding was in July) and it resulted in not getting the dress just days before the wedding. They also ordered the Brides dress 2 sizes too large which resulted in $450 in alteration fees. I would recommend shopping elsewhere if you would like a hassle and worry-free experience.

I bought my wedding dress, veil, and all of the bridesmaids dresses from Helen's. It was an amazing experience from start to finish! The ladies in the shop are lovely and made the whole process stress free. They also directed us to several vendors we ended up using - from hair and makeup to alterations. The seamstress they use, Joanne, from Ina's Bridal Alterations is incredibly talented as well. I highly recommend going with her. Her prices are very reasonable for all of the work she does!

Helen's has an excellent reputation for a reason. Had a wonderful experience there today with Renee. She was so thoughtful and really listened. Great balance of giving my mom, sis and I space to chat but being there to help/pin/hold etc. Really excellent customer service. Shop had tons of options and is clean, bright and beautiful. I did not find my dress here, but that was not for a lack of options or great service. 'The one' was simply stocked somewhere else. I would recommend this shop to any bride/bridesmaid. Helen's provided a good dress shopping experience for my family and I. The staff were helpful (although very busy) but stayed open after hours for us (with advance booking, 2 weeks ahead). I came close to finding my dress at Helen's. There is enough selection, most dresses I saw were between 900-1800 but there are other price points. Would recommend checking them out!

I went shopping with a friend for her wedding a month ago and even as a spectator I have to comment on how amazing the owner of the store is (her name is not Helen but I wouldn't know how to write it). She jumped right up to come and meet my friend and ask her all the questions that would help her help my friend. We had just been at the other bridal store down the road and it was so awful. They made my friend here seem like she wasn't giving them enough time to order, that her budget for her dress was WAY to low and literally like they just didn't care. When we came to Helen's: the timing? not a problem! the budget? That's Great! and the owner of the store actually picked out a dress she thought would be perfect but put it aside until my friend had tried on all her first choices and she liked some but at the end she tried on the owner's pick and it was the one. She has a knack and it is amazing! I know where I will be going as soon as it's my turn :) Thank you for the incredible customer service.

I ended up with a beautiful lace dress made by a Toronto company called Mikaella, which was absolutely stunning, and also fit my budget! Myself and my 6 bridesmaids, recently visited this bridal shop to find our dresses. I am a very indecisive person especially when it comes to very important things like finding a wedding dress. I had Felicia as a consultant and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. It took almost 3 hours to find my dress but when I found it I knew it was the one. My bridesmaids also found there dresses here and Felicia was very helpful, understanding, and patient. She accomodated everyones needs, she gave useful advice and kept us all on track. I'm late writing this review - Visited March 11th 2017 My consultant was Stacey and this was my first EVER dress appointment. let me just say this girl is absolutely AMAZING! She made me feel like a princess and was soooooo patient with me. out of probably 30 dresses the last dress was my absolute favorite! my wedding still isn't for another year and a half - but Stacey wrote down the dress # and gave me her card. I cannot say enough good words about this consultant. she let me and my girls pick out styles we thought would look good, then after she brought what she thought would look good, I literally got to try on every style in the shop! and she never got annoyed at how picky I was being :) I recommend booking with Stacey at Helens Bridal, she has a way of listening to exactly what you like or dislike and I guarantee you'll find your dress with her! I found my perfect wedding dress at Helen's, they have wonderful selection and the atmosphere is truly relaxing and professional. Beyond that though, it was their customer service that really blew me away. From the first appointment, Brittany was warm and welcoming. She accommodated me through several different appointments, through several different style dresses until i found the one. I never felt like I was inconveniencing the staff, and they were always happy to help me, spend time looking for various styles, and giving me honest feedback. When I had an big issue with alterations with only two days before we left for our destination wedding, I expected them to say the same thing my seamstress had told me: "it's too short notice to fix this". Instead, Brittany called a local seamstress, Danielle, of Vanidee designs. She came to the shop, did a fitting for me that day, and went above and beyond to make sure the dress was ready for me the day we left for our wedding. It took so much stress off my shoulders, and it really blew me away that the staff were so invested in ensuring I was truly happy with me dress. Thank you Helen's!!

For my favourite ladies at Helen's Bridal- I wanted to use this space to truly thank you for the wonderful work you do for brides in and around the Barrie area. As a bride myself in 2013, I experienced first-hand the comfort, precision, and efficiency the Helen's Bridal staff offers to their clients. On a day I wasn't even expecting to be wedding dress shopping, my mother and I walked into Helen's Bridal on a whim. We met with the beautiful Stacey who was very accommodating and graciously offered us suggestions and made us feel comfortable enough to comb through the racks of so many lovely wedding dresses. That day I fell in love with my 'Lena' by Maggie Sottero, which had every detail that I had been dreaming about in a wedding dress-- and also, it happened to be the very first wedding dress that I ever tried on! For what I thought might be overwhelming and difficult proved to be the very, very opposite. This was a truly a great moment for me-- and one that I will remember forever when I think of my wedding day and the preparation leading up to it. In what seemed to be effortless, I selected and purchased my dream wedding dress at Helen's, and also found great bridesmaids dresses in the Dessy collection, in addition to choosing a veil and jewellery. Helen's Bridal was truly a one-stop shop for me in regards to my wedding attire. On each visit from when I first walked in to the day I brought my dress home with me, the staff was always personable, more than pleasant to work with, and were always genuinely interested in what I had planned for my wedding day. Despite how stressful wedding planning could be at times, I always felt solace and excitement when I was in Helen's Bridal and always left with a smile. Thank you all so much for making my wedding day truly great - and am looking forward to seeing all of your friendly faces in the future! Perhaps they were just busy at the time, but I didn't have the boutique experience I expected. Having come from another salon in town, I couldn't help but compare every aspect, and it was disappointing. We started the appointment by being tucked into a corner with two chairs, where it seemed they hastily put us after realizing they had overbooked for the space. I was then asked what style I was looking for, and the consultant showed me a couple options that I would say yay or nay to, and then she said she'd pull dresses for me; I realized later she never even asked my budget. I was pretty disappointed I couldn't walk around and pick dresses out myself, as I had at the last store, as Helen's really did have a huge selection. There were a few that caught my eye and my mom's eye that we asked to try on, but only one was ever brought to me, and the rest were the consultant's picks. The dressing rooms are the tiniest ones imaginable, similar in size to the small mall dressing rooms - I was stepping and tripping over the 3 gowns that she could pack into the room with me, trying to carefully maneuver myself into the dresses alone (which having already spent 2 hours at another salon, my arms were tired and exhausted even with help). After clipping me in, the consultant didn't even place a panel to hide my exposed bra and skin until my mom finally asked a couple dresses in, and she went to grab extra material from storage (?). The consultant was nice, but she didn’t seem to listen. I was very unhappy with her picks, as they were nothing like I explained. She also kept pushing me to try on a mermaid style, which being plus size I knew it did NOT look good on me - I told her this a few times but she wouldn't give up, so I finally just put it on to make her stop going on about it. I also felt really rushed; I'd barely get the dress off and she'd be asking if I was ready to be clipped into the next. I kept telling her "just a minute" - I would have thought after the 4th time she'd learn to give me a bit more time before asking. At one point my consultant had to leave the room, and she placed Whitney with me for the time being. Whitney was AMAZING, and it was she that pulled the only two dresses I liked in my entire time there (one of which I had been asking to try on since the beginning). I wish she'd been my consultant the whole time, maybe then I would have had a better experience. If you go there, ask for Whitney. With the dressing rooms being so small, and only being able to have 2 or 3 in the room at a time, it was easy to forget which ones had already been tried on. I think Helen's should institute some way of managing this, by writing down style numbers tried on and crossing out the no-go's so brides aren't so easily confused - this would lend to a better experience for both bride and consultant. All in all, I'd say give Helen's a try on a WEEK DAY and ask for Whitney. Maybe then it would be more of an intimate experience, and you can pick out/try on dresses you actually like.

I arrived at Helen's bridal only 2 weeks after I got engaged. I had previously been to another bridal gown store in Barrie and it left me frustrated and nervous that I would never find a gown for me. I was instantly greeted when I entered Helen's bridal and my entourage was already seated and waiting for me to pick out some dresses to try on. I began looking through the many dresses and my stylist took one look at my figure and pulled out a dress she insisted I try on. I tried 2 dresses on before attempting the stylists pick. As soon as I put on that dress I was overwhelmed with emotion and I no longer needed to look for a dress. The stylist then asked me the famous question "are you saying yes to the dress" I began to cry as I said yes. Having huge nerves when I arrived, I was made comfortable and found the perfect dress, I had my selection and payment completed within an hour. The dress was to perfect to drescribe, I had only minor alterations from Stacey (the seamstress that works with Helen's bridal). My wedding was just this past Saturday and the dress is still what everyone is talking about. I found the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful. The staff really make you feel comfortable and are with you every step of the way! All of the dresses are very affordable if you are trying to stay within a certain budget! The only negative thing is that I found there wasn't a lot of selection and our appointment was a little distracting because of the terrible smell within the store (It smelled very smokey and musty) - which is probably attributed to the residential units upstairs smoking inside!! I suggest they invest in some air purification and fresheners in the store so it smells nice and clean :)

If you are looking for a Cinderella dress or A Line or Ball Gown definitely the wrong place to go. They had 1 ball gown and 3 a lines, yup that was it, the meter parking is a nightmare. Change rooms are literally closet size. They only have two veils to try on, but Staff was friendly.

What a wonderful store. For years I've admired the dresses in the window. Now that I'm engaged I knew this was the store for me - and I was not disappointed. I booked an appointment (this is a necessity in the bridal world - they are busy in there and if you want their personal service book an appointment for the best possible experience). Brittney (Brittany?) helped me and she was phenomenal - she listened and understood exactly what I wanted and found me the PERFECT dress. They also let me take my time to try on many other things that my entourage chose, too. I went back to try the dress on again and officially order it and again was so impressed by the personal, professional, cheerful service. Their dresses are impeccable and there are styles to suit everyone, budget friendly too (everything I tried on was in the 1200-1500 range). Came here with my friend to help her find a beautiful dress for her upcoming wedding and it was an absolutely terrible experience. Walking in we felt extremely rushed and crowded until we were brought into a fitting area which was marginally better, but what followed was what really upset us. From here on out my friend was rushed to put dresses on constantly and given several dresses at a time. This rushed feeling is not what you want when picking the most important dress of your life. When some dresses didn't fit, we indicated a size we want to try, and continued to get sizes that were extremely small. Constantly being pushed to try on these extremely small dresses ruined the entire experience for my friend. She found bits of each dress that she liked and when she brought it up, her opinions were shrugged off so she could go try on another dress that didn't fit. My friend left in tears because not only did she not get a personalized relaxing experience, she was constantly reminded that she is no longer a size 6 and herded from dress to dress like cattle. An unacceptable way to treat a bride to be, will never return.

I am still super unhappy with my dress but she has now tried to fix what she can and is continuing to do so. So Thank you! Horrible. i cant be more disappointed in this shop. i grew up in the barrie area and always loved the dresses in the window. this past year was the first time i got to experience their service, and i wouldnt recommend it to anyone. We went in as a group in September 2015 to choose our bridesmaids dresses for a wedding. we choose a beautiful one, and the sample dress was a blue. we ordered a lilac purple and when the dresses came in all we could see was the badly sewn seems across the chest. we were told that they could not be altered out, and we were stuck with them. my dress made me have a double boob from how bad the seems were. the owner/manager (sorry im not sure what her position is) took photos of 2 of our dresses to send to the designer and said she would be in contact the next day and assured she had our information and i have yet to get a phone call. i called twice and left one message and still no update on my dress. the wedding has come and gone now (it was July 9th) and i am super disappointed. i will never shop at this bridal boutique again and would highly suggest if you want your day to go smoothly you dont shop there either.

Small shop. Expensive dresses compared to other in town Bridal shops... but lovely and classy. Parking can be difficult as it is on Dunlop Street in the downtown core. Helpful staff.

Went into Helen's to find a wedding dress so quickly for my wedding I had planned and they had the best selection. I love the fact you can choose anything off the rack to try on. I was looking for a princess ballgown dress and I found the perfect dress just needed to be tweaked a little bit but there seamstress stacy is awesome. She was able to help me fix and add things to my dress I never thought I could do. Thank you so much for helping me find my princess ball gown wedding dress. I had the best wedding and felt like a princess for sure. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone searching for a wedding dress. Everyone in the store that works there is so friendly and always so happy when I went in. Thank you for all your help everyone :) !!!
