I got a train from Birmingham England went to London caught the Eurostar from London to paris, the continued to Swaziland and stayed 2nights in a hotel the train to sirmione lake garda Italy the only bad part there was no transport to the holtel other wise it would have been a 5 star because it cost me €30 for a taxi stayed there 5 days taxi back then got train to innsbruck Austria stayed 1 night arriving late and leaving very early no time to have a look around the caught the train to cologne German had time to look around there because the train back home to was later in the day changing at Brussels for Eurostar to London the train back to Birmingham. the only bad point is at all destinations there was no transport to your holtel were in lake garda it was about 5 miles away and Swaziland was about 2miles. so I only gave it 3 stars but the holiday it self was really good

In late August/early September we travelled from NW England to Switzerland via France and back via France and Belgium. Our journeys were planned so that we took the nicest routes between stopovers and it emphasised the team's knowledge of the journeys taken and the places visited. In advance of our trip TMR sent us lots of information which helped us make good plans for our holiday and gave us something to look forward to during lockdown. The team were very patient with us before departure due to our uncertainty about covid regulations. Simon supplied detailed instructions for forms to be filled in for each country and all went smoothly. Hotels in the main were of the standard we expected and the train journeys were great. We will be using TMR again in the future.

This is the second time Tailor Made Rail have arranged train travel and hotels the most recent to Madrid. All the travel and changes were very well organised with great instruction and guidance, at an affordable cost. Hotel quality can vary however locations have been great for seeing the sights with ease and for one night stop overs during travel. Would definitely use again.

This trip confirmed again, the terrific planning and attention to detail which we have come to expect from Tailor Made Rail, not least, adapting the itinerary to suit our individual needs. We always wanted to ride the Blue Train from Pretoria to Cape Town so found this company TMR who from the minute I phoned could not do enough to help and plan our holiday. I am digging deep to find fault but with no result! We were even upgraded to a luxury cabin at no extra cost when we arrived at the station. We would not hesitate to recommend this company. I believe the person who dealt with our booking was called Simon. Well done!

We have just returned from our third fantastic holiday organised by Tailor Made Rail. Our first two trips were adaptations of their suggested itineraries with additions and alterations made to specifically suit our needs. For this third trip we told them where and when we wanted to go, and a final itinerary was negotiated which suited both our desires and budget. All the tickets, journey and hotel information arrived in a clearly organised format which made it very easy to follow. The hotels have been wonderful, and the journeys have all gone to plan. We thoroughly recommend Tailor Made Rail - and here’s why. Everything went like clockwork. Our rail holiday consisted of travel from the north of England, ferry (yes ferry) to Santander, then rail via Madrid to Barcelona. Then a trans-Pyrenean journey to Avignon in the south of France and finally home via Eurostar. All this was during the variety of COVID-19 restrictions and regulations across the three countries. The reason for our journey was to celebrate our grandson having completed his GCSEs; he has a great interest in trains! I need to explain that my wife and I are in our mid and late 60’s and more used to flying to holiday destinations. We were somewhat fretful at the thought of managing several train journeys/ hotels and countries and the ever-changing COVID regulations. Simon was brilliant and provided a very caring, considerate and personal service to us and we publicly thank him via this review. He kept us updated on the COVID travel rules and modified the itinerary as we needed. Even whilst on holiday we kept in touch. All of Simon’s recommendations, guidance and scheduling worked perfectly. We had lovely hotels, comfortable train journeys and pre-planned PCR testing for our grandson. We felt in good hands with Tailor Made Rail and with Simon and his team.

Outstanding! Professional, thorough, efficient, excellent staff and first-class customer service (rarely found these days!). Unfortunately our planned holiday to Switzerland had to be cancelled due to Covid-19. Tailor Made were brilliant - highly recommend this company and will definitely be back to book another holiday with them.

We had a fantastic experience, from London to Munich, Budapest, Vienna, Prague and finally Berlin. I was a bit nervous about travelling unaccompanied as we usually take organised tours, but I am a convert! The trains were all clean, comfortable and easy to find, connections made, and hotels good. We had booked at short notice (2 weeks) but all went smoothly. We loved that we could suggest our own itinerary instead of being tied to a group, and we could watch the beautiful Austrian mountains or Elbe river from our train window instead of flying over them. One hotel had to be changed at the last minute but Simon sorted this all out before telling us so we didn't need to worry, and the replacement was lovely. Only one problem, when our train home was delayed, but when I rang Simon from Germany in a panic he calmed me down and reassured me. I will definitely use this company again, thank you!

My parents booked through this company for a 4* luxury holiday to Venice for my Dad's 60th birthday. They spent nearly £5K for 4 people and although the rail changes were well organised the hotels were on the whole very disappointing only 1 in 4 of the hotels were the luxury 4* described when booking. One was horrific, dirty single beds with doors that wouldn't close pretty much like a really bad youth hostel. The company were very reluctant to refund any money or accept any responsibility for disappointment in what was supposed to be a once in a lifetime trip. They eventually have refunded 2 nights at a rate of £150 a night which they admitted was well over what they normally allocate. I would advise other travellers to research each hotel they list on your booking and specify you want refurbished rooms.

We went to Kiruna and Abisko Sweden in February/March it was perfect, we were lucky to see the northern lights every night we were there. It was our first holiday abroad in 30+ years we were concerned but TMR made it all so easy, our travel tickets and hotel reservations were all booked for us, we just had to get to the stations on time, the seats were all booked.We didn't choose one of their holidays, we gave them the dates and destinations we wanted to see and they sorted it all, we now have the travel bug and hoping it will be Italy next, by TMR of course. The accommodation was a really nice mix of different styles and very handy to the stations . We have just returned from a 10 night holiday travelling through France to Switzerland and returning through Germany and Belgium. The trains were booked right from Manchester and using the Eurostar. I can wholeheartedly recommend this company. Everything was so well organised and explained clearly so that I'm sure the journeys would go smoothly for anyone. We were so pleased with the quality of the hotels! Every one was of such a high standard. In the current pandemic, it was problematic to go to Como in Italy and Simon arranged a replacement in Lugano in Switzerland. The hotel was fantastic and we felt really confident in the personal treatment we received. Wonderful!
