I don’t like writing a non-positive review, but this was my experience with Stitch It. I brought a bridesmaid dress in to be altered. I just needed the hem shortened and the thin shoulder straps taken up a bit. The total came to around $80, which I get it, but it’s expensive. The hem was still too long when I picked up the dress, although they offered it fix it. However, during the wedding one of the straps they had altered came completely out of the dress. It was very embarrassing and distracting for the wedding party as we had to find a quick fix. For $80 in alterations I would not expect this to happen. I will say the lady who helped me was very kind and friendly.

I come in with a box of clothing that needed to be repaired. It's a Thursday at 6:00 P.M. and the place is empty with a "Will be back by 6:15 P.M." sign. So, I wait and she comes back and, at the front door, says "Uhh What's that?" I explain it's a box of clothes i need repaired. So then we go inside and I show her pants and shirts with rips and tears I need repaired. She quotes 16 dollars per rip, which is considered a premium price relatively speaking. Either way, I say okay and then she reverses and says she is worried the clothes are dirty because she sees a pair of pants with a clump of dust on it. She says "the workers get mad will be mad at me if these are dirty and the clothes smell!" So she follows up and says she doesn't want the work. Lol?? At 16 dollars a piece, that's over 300 dollars worth of work. To fix rips and tears! I'm literally shocked. My situation my sound unique and particular but If you look around, there were no employees in the back and no typical scenes of workloads of clothes in the background. This implies to me not only are they very lazy and bad at business but other customers agree that this place is drop dead bottom of the barrel in terms of quality and service and decide to go elsewhere instead. I recommend all people looking for tailoring and alterations services to look elsewhere as I doubt you will find anything worth your breathe of air here.

I bought a dress thru Amazon to hav for a photoshoot (for our 25th wedding anniversary). However, it was the last one left & too big, so would require alterations. Stitch It was the only place I knew to take the dress to. The lady who pinned the dress for me, was very kind. We had a lovely chat as she worked away, & i couldnt wait to see the dress once finished. I did call the store the next morning that they were open however (as an afterthought occured to me; to ensure the cap sleeves would not be cut across or sewn, when the shoulders were taken in (on the top), for fear of creating a centre seam in them, that didnt originally exist). However, i spoke with a different lady, & was met with an attitude that gave me the feeling she didn't seem to want to be bothered helping me. She said I'd hav to wait til i picked up the dress to find out (despite it was easily identifiable & I informed her what to look for). I'm 100% certain it wasnt the woman who pinned the dress for me that I spoke with on the phone. Their attitudes were as different as day & night. I had other encounters with the 2nd woman involving the same dress needing alterations (which resulted in me having to bring the dress back on a later date, initially.) I wanted & expected to hav the dress refitted when I went back in, to pick it up, but the lady who pinned it wasnt in, so I was given the dress folded in half over a hanger, completely hidden from view, under a white plastic bag (by the same lady who had me come back with the dress initially, on a later date), & I believe, was the same woman, with whom I spoke on the phone, the day I called back, concerning the cap sleeves. On the day i picked up the dress, i checked the cap sleeves under the bag quickly & was pleased to see they hadn't been marred, but what i didn't see, was the whole dress, til I had it home, & tried it on. Something I hadn't thought about was that the width of the shoulders were not taken in as well, so, they had the appearance of football shoulders on a vintage look 50s swing dress. Worse yet, the fabric, which was white with 1" red polkadots were sewn together all along the outside seams, creating a horrible effect with the polkadots. Looking inside the seams of the dress, it was evident it was quickly sewn up on each side, but not cut or finished. Honestly, I could've done that much. I was charged almost $50. for this. I was so heartbroken, I hung the dress as it was given to me in Stitch It (folded in half, under the white plastic bag) & hav never looked at it since (that was in July). It ruined our 25th anniversary photoshoot plans, as we never had the photoshoot in the end. My purchase from Amazon was completely wasted as well, due to this experience. I hav about a half dozen other dresses I purchased that also need altered, & the plan was (based on this experience), to decide if I would bring the other dresses there too, but this experience obviously impeded my decision to do so. I've held off on writing a review since this happened in July, but decided, being the last day of 2021, & the last day of our 25th anniversary year, I should let the company know how upsetting this experience was for me. Over the years, I've brought the odd item in there for small repairs or hems, & was satisfied with their work, but after this upsetting experience, I've decided, I would not patronize the business again. I haven't taken pics of the dress but can certainly do so. In fact, I haven't taken the dress out from the closet since the day I picked it up. ???? I didnt call the store back, as i had to pay for the alterations before they were done so i didn't think they would do anything to help me, afterwards. ????

(Translated) I went to make my wedding dress shorter and the result was flawless :) The lady took the time with me and she advised me on the ideal length. I also had the collar of a dress repaired which was unstitched. Now it is like new. (Original) Je suis allée pour faire raccourcir ma robe de mariée et le résultat était impeccable :) La dame a pris le temps avec moi et elle m'a bien conseillée pour la longueur idéale. J'ai aussi fait réparer le col d'une robe qui était décousu. Maintenant elle est comme neuve.

Brought in a suit that no longer fit as snug as I wanted. The seamstress showed me where they would bring it in and costs. Just picked up the suit and it is like a whole new suit at a fraction of the cost. Everything fits perfectly, even better than it did when I first bought it. I will be bringing all of my future suits here for adjustment.

These women just made my night!!! I had been scrambling to get ready for a friend's wedding in Michigan and I had gave them a dress I purchased online to be altered. One thing after the other kept happening ALL WEEK and when I finally came to pick up dress flustered because my mani/pedi appointment in the mall fell through (go figure!), they had noticed some work that I hadn't originally ask for when I tried the dress back on. I told them not to worry and to hang on to the dress while I tried to find another nail appointment in the mall but that fell through as well (Haha just my luck!). I must have been all of 10 minutes and when I came back they had cinched up the side for no extra charge. WHAT A LOVELY SURPRISE! The dress fits perfectly and not to mention that it was complicated due to so many sequins! I will definitely return and recommend anyone to go there. Amazing work. Thank you Stitch It!

Craziest Experience! Hours before a wedding, a family member experienced a problem with her zipper on her dress and was desperate to find help. The three of us travelled and looked for places that were open, and fortunately found Stitch It. The woman there was wonderful and squeezed us in time for us to be able to make it to the wedding ceremony and fixed the zipper. Because of Stitch It's great efforts, we will definitely be coming again!

I really wish I wasn't in such a rush and had time to find a better place. For one, I was basically fought with over what I WANT the length of my dress to be. Knowing I would only be wearing heels for a short while I requested getting a bit more of my dress hemmed but I was told "No. No. This is good." I dont think my point of not wearing my shoes for long was getting across. The price for what I got cut off was ridiculous. 67$ for not even getting what I wanted cut off was just dumb. Considering I personally know someone with the exact same style of dress only paid 45$. But of course, I was dumb and left my options to a minimum and didn't have time to look around. I will never come back to stich it and I will never recommend it to anyone.

Overpriced and not what I asked. I was charged $45 to shorten my suit jacket sleeves by less than an inch. When I went to pick up the jacket, it was not enough as I’d asked. When asked if more could be taken off to my original needs, I was told it could not be done because where they pinned it is all they are able to do, which I was told would be enough. Will not be going back.

I had two pairs of pants hemmed at Stitch It in the Oshawa Centre in October of last year. BOTH pairs have the stitching coming out now after 4 months. This was a complete and total waste of money. I won't be going back.

Took in a pair of pants to get taken in at the waist. They told me it would take one week. I went in a little over a week later and they said it wouldn't be ready for another week. Went in again and they had taken the pants in at the seam going up the rear but had done nothing with the waistband. As a result, when I put them on, the waistband created a shelf sticking out from my back. The person working apologized and said they would fix it. I returned again and they had sewn two huge darts right through the waistband essentially ruining the pants. I told them I just wanted my money back and to get out of there. They refunded my money. I guess my first clue should have been the ad on the glass for help wanted which had no mention of requiring previous sewing experience.

I don't even want to give my experience a star. I was told to come back the next day when the semestress was working, which I had no issue with. I came back the next day (today) and the semestress was on her way out the door even though I was told she would be there until 5:00. She passed me off to an employee who aimlessly just stuck a pin in the dress not taking into consideration what it would look like. This did obviously not work so the employee proceeded to tell me that the dress just didn't fit me and I could wait for the semestress tomorrow and she could add material but that it would cost me a lot of money. It sum it all up I would never recommend Stitch It as the employees are rude and do not have the time of day for paying customers. I took my business elsewhere and got the amazing results that I wanted.

If I could give this 0 stars I would. I read these reviews before going to this Stitch It at Richmond centre. All the reviews were terrible , but I've figured the company may have changed to better themselves. Oh boy, was I wrong, my husband and I went to inquire getting a zipper replaced on a jacket. Not only were we not greeted with a hello, the lady stared at us like she was disgusted and didn't want business. The lady threw the tape measure and told us to measure the zipper ourselves, and her prices were significantly higher than the other stitch it that I ended up going to. This stitch it at Richmond centre is horrible, worst costumer service ever! Save yourself the time and trouble, do not go to stitch it at Richmond centre!!!!!!

Reception was nice, told me they will iron it the day I come to pick up. On the agreed date, they were unable to find my clothes. After a long time they found it but it wasn't altered at all. I waited another half hour as they did a rushed job, the clothes were messy and not ironed at all.

Horrible customer service.. brought my sons uniforum pants in to be hemmed... the lady at the front was trying to get me to ge else where... she was trying to convince me that they were to busy for my business... recieved the pants back and in about 2 weeks the hemms were out and pants were trashed. Service was very expensive ($100 for a dress hem and adjustment of the neck) and was not completed properly. The dress was still much too long and since the service took almost 5 days I had no time to make additional alterations. It was also uncomfortable to try on my dress as three other customers were standing right next to you, waiting their turn. Will not come back.

I went here to get a new zipper for my winter coat. The lady who worked there was happy to accommodate (I didn't get her name, but she sounded European) and made suggestions that I was really happy with. The price was about $35 (cheaper than a new coat) and my coat was done in about 2 days. I was very happy! The lady was very nice on drop off and pick up and was happy to do what I asked. I would use them again! I don't know why the reviews are bad on here for this place. Maybe they changed Management or associates, because I was quite satisfied.

I'm very dissatisfied with my experience at Stitch It after having two Ben Sherman Oxford's tailored. The sleeves were made way too tight, to the point where they are unwearable. I reached out to Stitch It twice via the web contact form as their policy stated they will refund you and compensate you if you are not satisfied with the tailoring. I received no contact back and am out about 300$ from this experience. Amateur work; unprofessional business practices. Update 15/11/2018: I have received zero contact about my complaint, despite the response I received below. At this point I will be donating the shirts to value village and taking my business elsewhere. Update 8/9/2019: The manager who responded to this review made no attempt to contact me. This store is a joke!

After waiting to be talked to for over 20 minutes, because apparently her conversation with her coworkers was more important than us (she saw us), she came up to us with a rude tone and expression and said, "What do you want? You need something??" And my husband, taken aback by her rudness said, "Oh well, I'm just looking for a quote to take my jacket in." She huffed at us and immediately went off, saying "The shoulders need to be taken in which is $100 there, then the back which is another $40, so I don't know!!" Shaking her head at us and being extremely rude for no reason. My husband said, "Well, I just wanted an estimate.. so thank you..." and we walked away. She treated us as if she didn't want to do her job and as if we were wasting her time.. ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE! We were more than willing to spend as much as it took, but I can't believe the way we were treated!!

However, the lady did an amazing job and the measurements were taken quickly and I picked up the pants a week later! It was my first time visiting and I will definitely be back ???? Brought in 2 pairs of work pants to be hemmed. They were hemmed correctly but one had a seam from a sewing machine put in and removed on mid thigh in rear of one pair. Worker refused to fix issue on new pair of pants given as other pair was ruined. Claimed it was a seam put in by manufacturer.

My friend and I had two bridesmaids dresses altered. One only required hemming for too much length; turned out acceptable. Second dress.. we had a sash removed along with hemming. The first time we returned to grab the dresses.. there was a stain & the sash removal wasn't done very well.. The lines didn't match up & there were still strings sticking out. The bottom "frill" was sewn into the dress. Understandable the first time. Benefit of the doubt. Pandemic has everyone off their game. The second time we went to pick up the "fixed" dress.... there was still a frill or layer (will attach picture) sewn into the dress. Stain was removed though.. (She made sure to make that very clear.) The same mistake twice, or it wasn't fixed the first time? Took 30 minutes for the 3rd attempt & it's now passable. As a brand new mom with a tiny baby.... the multiple trips weren't easy, even with the two of us. We were offered 10 percent off our next alteration for our troubles & a very passive "sorry." I'm so glad that it seems most people have had a good experience here.. just wasn't the case for us sadly.

I am writing to you to express my extreme anger that was caused by the Stitches located in the Georgian Mall, in Barrie Ontario. I am a very regular customer at stitches, (i buy clothing from the store once to twice a month) and have never been more displeased and disgusted with the customer service at this store than I have ever been at any other store. The staff there is SO short-tempered and rude. WHY DO YOU HIRE SUCH INCONSIDERATE, HATING PEOPLE? THERE ARE PEOPLE DYING FOR JOBS AND YOU HIRE PEOPLE SUCH AS THE GIRL I WILL MENTION LATER ON... I had bought a cardigan from stitches around 5 days ago, and had decided to exchange the cardigan for a sweater at the store. When i went to the cash register, the cashier scanned my cardigan that i was exchanging (which costed $5) and the sweater (which costed $3.50). She had to give me a credit for one dollar and 50 cents, but did not know if she was allowed to or not, so she asked the manager of the store, a young friendly man. The manager said that he could not give me the store credit, and apologized very quickly for the inconvenience. He told me that i should pick something out of the store and buy it with the $1.50 but i did not find interest in any of the other clothing in the store. (This is where the problem arises) An employee named Tina comes by and says "On the receipt it tells you that you cannot exchange or return clothing." I told her that yes i can, and that it writes clearly on the receipt. She says "NO, let me see the receipt and i'll show you." I quickly took out the receipt and showed her, and she underlines a sentence that says "All clearance items are final sale." The sweater that i had been buying was clearance, but get this: THE WHOLE STORE WAS CLEARANCE. The whole store is a $10 under outlet, they had changed the prices of every single item in the store, therefore everything was clearance. I told her this and she said "WE ARE DOING YOU A FAVOUR BY EVEN LETTING YOU EXCHANGE THESE CLOTHING ITEMS." I said "No, youre not. Every employee has told me that I can exchange any clothing that i buy, every single time i have visited this store. When i first bought the cardigan, i asked the employee if i could exchange it later on, and she said yes." The rude employee then tells me "SHE DIDNT SAY THAT. She didnt say that. She didnt say that." And i said "Yes she did, how do you know if she said it or not, you werent there" and she again says "she didnt say that." Usually, if an employee says something that is against policy, the other employees usually apologize and say that it was a mistake. But not this girl. She implied that i was a liar and that she was "doing me a favour?" When i go into a store i do not expect the employees to think that they are doing me a favour by selling me their garbage. I am doing them a favour by buying from the store, and keeping their jobs alive. In the end, i just picked out a 3 dollar necklace and ended up paying an extra $2 for a made-in-china piece of trash that i DID NOT WANT whatsoever. I was SO angry by this rude employee and the service she had provided that i then said i would NEVER visit any stitches store ever again, and she quickly said "Thats fine." Now not only did she drive me to the point that i was disgusted with the service, but when i explained that i would not be coming back she doesnt think twice about keeping a regular customer. Congratulations, Stitches of Georgian Mall barrie, and a big congratulations to Tina, for losing a very regular customer. I will be telling everybody that i know never to visit a stitches store again, and will write this very complaint on every review site i find. I sincerely hope something is done about this, because i am so angry and disgusted. That was by far the WORST costumer service experience ever.

*NOTE: I am still waiting to hear from Manager Logan regarding her schedule so I can bring in the dress to have it "fixed". I will re-evaluate my review once this is dealt with. TERRIBLE work and customer service is an understatement! I brought a dress to Stitch It to have them shorten the straps and sew in bra cups- I was fitted by the seamstress. I picked up the dress on the scheduled date (2 days later), but the fitting rooms were full, so I was unable to try the dress on again. I left to drive to Vaughan for the wedding events we were attending for the next two days. I put the dress on while getting ready for the wedding (the following day), and the cups were sewn in near my collar bone! Since they were between the material, there was nothing I could do to fix this myself. I was unable to wear the dress that I bought solely for the purpose of this wedding. Customer service at the Barrie location by Manager Logan has been horrific, and the only thing worse, is customer service from Head Office. At this point, I await a call from Logan regarding her schedule, and her discussion with Head Office about refunding my money (which I read from other reviews- this can be done!)

I had the worst experience at Stitch It Mayfair. I had dropped off a pair of jeans to be hemmed and picked them up a couple days later. After returning home I noticed they only hemmed ONE of the pant legs so I returned to the store and the gentleman argued with me and accused me of being a liar. We argued for 20 minutes ; he refused to give my money back and was refusing to even correct the mistake because he didn't believe there was one so I tried the jeans on which was when he saw there was an obvious 2inch hem difference. He apologized and fixed it right away. I was furious with how I was treated and absolutely will never be returning to Stitch It in Mayfair Mall

Buyer beware! Twice now, I have been charged two different prices for altering two identical items. Once was tapering of two pairs of uniform pants within a two week span. The second time was to shorten and hem bedskirts also within a two week time span. Each time, the associate could not answer why I was charged $10.00 more for the same service. I was told call the manager or bring the items back in. Who has time for that? Should there not be consistency in charges for the same service on the identical item? Poor business ethic. I will find somewhere else to have alterations done. I also plan to tell everyone I can not to go to Stitch it.

Excellent job! I thought it was a difficult job to take material in on the side of the leg of sweatpants because there was not only a huge logo but a massive patch of white. The white is gone (yay!) and the whole logo remains and they moved the pockets to within the logo. Honestly, too complicated to explain properly. We are very happy with the job!

Extremely rude staff, the Employee #334877 is arrogant and hates her job she should never be involved in customer service anywhere. She has no manners and should never work in public or with people. I wanted to get a dress hemmed, she wanted to charge me almost $100 to be altered.... the dress isn’t worth $100 and it is a simple dress. There are no postings on prices, she tried to overcharge for this service, then when I said i could not afford this she told me I had to pay $17 for me to have my dress back because she had put a couple of pins in the dress. I walked away no dress shortened and -$17 for a couple of pins. This is absolutely outrageous. How can stitch it employ a person like this. She is a disgrace to her company and employer.

Not helpful at all. I took a t-shirt with a tear on it to be mended. The older lady working there took a look at it and said "I don't know what you expect me to do with this." I said "Mend it." It had a patch on it and she said she couldn't work with it, I removed it very quickly and easily right in front of her. She said nothing could be done. Really? You're "Stitch It" and you can't MEND a tear? I took it to Fix Tailoring at the Bayfield Mall and they stitched it up for just $5. No desire to work here, it seems.

The lady who took my measurements was very nice and attentive to my needs. It took a week until my jean jacket was ready for pickup. I was informed of the estimated timeframe during my initial visit. Dropped off a $200 blazer for a simple task of shortening the sleeves (asked to be sewn from inside). Went to pick up my blazer a week after as instructed, only to find that nothing was done. The safety pin was still on the blazer, no alterations made. The employees fumbled around asked us to come back in 30 min. Came back a second time to find that they did a rush job sewing the sleeves from the OUTSIDE. What blazer has visible stitches on the sleeve, on top of that, it wasn’t even straight. When tried to reason with them, they tried to say that it was done under our instructions. Promptly asked for a refund. Don’t take your valuable piece of clothing here. Pay for a better service elsewhere

Great work, however, if I go in to a place to have pants hemmed -my nursing uniform pants- and ask the you woman to place a demon/jeans hem on the pants AND NOT A STITCHED hem as they had done before I would expect someone working in that industry to KNOW what a jean or denim hem is and therefore KNOW what it looks like. They still did a good job but I left with an uncomfortable feeling THINKING "ARE MY PANT GOING TO HAVE A STITCHED SEAM OR A HEMMED SEAM??"

Left my pants with them for hemming and reducing leg width in the morning of Friday. The lady receiving my pants told me they would be ready at 11:00AM on Monday, but she printed 4:00PM on the receipt. So I came 3:50PM on Monday. You know what? The pants are still hanging where they were and untouched! The lady received my pants asked me to come back in 30 minutes, she then took them to a machine started working. My first time and last time! Do NOT go there unless you are forced. Poorly managed business! When I came back after 30 minutes, the pants are hemmed 1 inch longer than what I asked them to do. I remembered the lady didn’t write down the measurements I wanted them to finish, even I strongly suggested, but used pins, when I left the pants to her last Friday. I got my pants back at 4:45PM. Their over-priced workmanship is terrible, the hems and inseams are not overlocked after altering. The lady told me if there is anything wrong, I can go back within 30 days. Do I really look so stupid to her, so that she thinks I will see them again for damned any reason? It’s a textbook example of adding up all failure factors: poorly managed, terrible service and quality, over-priced and short-staffed(the lady told me). They don’t miss out anything that can cause a business to fail.

They failed to do a simple job of shortening pants from 32 to 30. You can easily see the hemming sewing line from outside with wrinkles in the cloth of the pants! I will avoid using their services again!

I attended this store at 540 pm earlier in the week and had 3 dresses to hem. There was a sign on the door that said be back in 10 minutes, so I waited. At 550 pm, someone came to the door and said there was not enough time to hem my dresses and I needed to come back again. I asked when the store closed and was told 6 pm. First off, with the sign was on the door, I waited outside the store for 10 minutes seeing people inside the store. Second of all, there was more than enough time to pin 3 straight hems as I have been there many times and it was very quick. In and out in 10 minutes. Only when I said I would take my business elsewhere was I told to come in. I did not go in. You would think after all the business lost in COVID that a little slack would be given. Very poor.

Horrible! I brought my son's Karate Uniforms in to have to badges sewn on and they accidentally sewed the draw strings to the badge! Now I'm required to purchase a new uniform because the draw strings are too short to tie. Uniforms were worn once, not happy! Still waiting for a call back from the store Manager.
