I definitely recommend getting a written invoice prior to agreeing to the work because what I agreed to and what I paid were vastly different. I received my "custom made" ballgown style wedding dress 1 month before my wedding. It surprisingly required significant alterations. I had gone to another tailor who said they didn't have enough time to do it, which put me in a panic. Magdy was very professional and calm when assessing what needed to be done, and stated I could pick it up in 2.5 weeks! When I picked it up, his alterations were unnoticeable, and he had put extra thought into it, such as cutting off the underlayers of tulle and crinoline in front of my feet so that I wouldn't step on my dress when walking and dancing (but you can't notice it as its covered by the underskirt!). The bustling didn't have any awkward bunching and made the dress look like it was made that way! 100% recommend Magdy, and will definitely be back for future alteration needs!

I took two dresses in for alterations: one bridesmaid dress that needed to be taken in, hemmed and have cups added. It fits me like a glove now, and you can barely tell where it was taken in - and with a lace-covered bodice, that's no small thing. The other was just in bad shape and needed repair, and I wanted thicker straps. It looks brand new now! Super impressed with the quality of the work and the speed. They did an AMAZING job on my wedding dress! They put in a corset, took out a panel, and hemmed it. The fabric is very delicate and i wasn't sure it would even be possible to take the front panel out, but it looks so good and you can't even tell it was altered. Plus, he was really nice to work with. Definitely 5 stars.

I just wanted to write a review on the terrible and unprofessional service that Magdy has given to me! I wouldn't even give him a star but that is the only way I could leave my review.... So the day came of my scheduled appointment and it was raining really hard. I had my daughter with me and our dresses and shoes as well. I went to the door and it was locked and no one was there. I had to go back to my vehicle to call Magdy to see where he was. He answered and said that he closed early and would be at the shop in 5 minutes. He showed up 10 minutes later and we went into his shop. My daughter tried on her dress first and he looked at it and as he walked around I could smell an odor coming from him of alcohol. I was mortified and uncomfortable and didn't know what to do. I just wanted to get the appointment over with so I put my dress on and he started pinning my dress and he was sweating a lot and the alcohol odor was a lot stronger. My appointment was on a Tuesday evening at 5:30pm for all of you wondering. The work needed on my daughters dress was the tulle pieces needed to be cut off even with her skirt and my dress needed work in the bust area/sides taken in, straps shortened and a little bit off the bottom of the skirt. I went to the front of the shop where he was and he said that it would be $245.00, I said that is a lot of money especially when my bridesmaid dress didn't even cost that much. I told him to start on my daughters dress and wait to work on my dress until I called him back as I wanted to get a second opinion of the cost. I called Magdy to let him know that I would be picking both the dresses up as I was not comfortable with the price he wants to charge. He then told me that he was just about done my dress. I then told him that I trusted him not to start my dress until I called him and said it was okay to do so. When I got to his shop I was not impressed at the work he did and he expected me to pay him. I was stuck, he was not going to give me my dresses unless I paid him. I felt so helpless. I ended up paying Magdy $178.50 so that he would release my dresses to me. I got home and had a closer look at my dress and I was so disappointed. I contacted Magdy today to ask him if he could give me a partial refund and he refused and said that his work was not the problem. I just wanted to recoup some of the money so I can afford to pay someone else to fix my dress. I feel that Magdy took total advantage of me. I would never send anyone his way for alterations.... EVER

I brought my new suit and 11 shirts into Magdy to have them fitted as I have fairly muscular athletic build with a large chest to waist ratio so suit jackets fit ok but suit pants do not. I will tell you that he does amazing work; the suit and the shirts were groomed to my specific build in a manner that really accentuates my frame. The suit was done better then my made to measure suits. I will be taking all my future clothing alterations to Magdy. Thanks for the great work!!

Madgy altered my wedding dress. Pros: Done in a timely manner, friendly and patient, altered well (he did the hem, bussel, waist, straps, cups and neckline), reasonable price Cons: He smokes and the odor is strong, so I worried it would go into my dress as he worked on it. However, when I picked up my dress, it did not smell of smoke. He altered the straps & necklace on my dress the first time he worked on it when he said he would alter those areas after my second fitting. I did not save the texts to prove this, so I didn't argue it. Dress was fine, but that's not what was communicated.

I went to Magdy's shop to alter my wedding reception dress. Discovered him through google, he had the best reviews online. Well, let me tell you, he definitely lives up to his reviews. The whole process was very professional and he is very meticulous and makes sure you are completely happy. He takes pride from his work and you can tell from his attention to details. UPDATE: After posting this, Magdy contacted me and offered to drive to my house, pick up the pants, fix them, and drive them back. I told him that was not necessary. I dropped the pants off with new striping and a sample of what I needed. I picked the pants up yesterday and they look fantastic. Magdy is a professional and his honesty and integrity is second to none. I brought two pair of uniform pants in to have stipes put on the legs. I explained what I needed done and how I needed them attached. A week later, I picked the pants up and the stripes were not put on properly. He didn't put the stripe on the cargo pocket, so the stripe is broken. He explained that "it was too hard to put the stripe on the pocket." As mentioned, these are uniform pants and the placement of the stripe is unacceptable. I paid nearly $100 for pants I can't wear at work. I can't even re-use the stripe, as they have been cut and are now useless. On the positive side, I also brought in a jacket to have a zipper fixed, and that was completed satisfactorily.

Do not recommend. My dress was absolutely not finished at the end of my appointments, and I had to take it somewhere else to be fixed. Almost all of the alterations he did needed to be undone somewhere else. I will not be back.

Magdy’s tailor shop is the place to go! I broke my zipper stopper on the bottom of my favourite winter jacket. I went to many places before Magdy. They were so expensive, not to mention a bit rude and they said that it wouldn’t be done on time for my snowboarding trip. I had to get the entire zipper replaced but he did such an amazing job, it doesn’t look like it was broken in the first place! I came in, he gave me an exact and fair price right away. Magdy was terrific. He hemmed and made other alterations to my wedding gown, which due to the style of the dress I felt was fairly difficult work. Not only did he make sure the dress was what I wanted before handing it back to me, he was also very accommodating in his schedule. I arrived unannounced (I said I would call to confirm the appointment, and I definitely forgot to do so) and though the dress was not ready when I first got there (understandably), he was able to make all the finishing touches in just under a couple hours. Seeing as I am from out of town, this was particularly awesome since I would have needed to take an additional day to come back for another actual appointment. Overall, Magdy was professional, accommodating, and great to work with.

I kind of got myself into a bind because I bought new tactical pants for airsoft (the day before I was to play). The problem was that the built in kneepads were effectively shinpads because the legs were too long for my short legs. I contacted three people late at night on kijiji and Magdy was the first to reply and assured me if I came in the next day "if it can be done, I can do it". I am very happy with every aspect of my interaction and transaction - pants worked perfectly! I was able to act half my age and enjoy the night with my boys. Thank you for everything!!
