I am posting to share my complete displeasure with DPS Warehouse at 4630 Dufferin Street, Toronto. I am in the market for a safety cover for my pool. I received an email ad from DPS expressing a 4 day only sale for the product I want. On Thurs Sept 14 I phoned their Downsview location and confirmed they had a grey cover in stock but they were moving quickly because of the sale. I changed my Friday around to pick it up the next day. We spent a half an hour taking care of the hardware requirements and then we are at the check out. As the sales person is cashing me out he tells me that he can't sell it to me for the sale price, it is only for the green coloured covers. I remind him that they didn't tell me this the previous day on the phone, when the grey ones "were moving fast because of the sale" nor does the ad state the sale is on the green cover (I've attached the sale flyer to this post). He goes away for 15 minutes to speak with a manager and then returns and says he can not honour the price in their flyer. I asked to speak with the manager and had to wait an additional 15 minutes for that privilege. When the manager appears he informs me that they don't have to say that the sale price is only for green and that he will not honour the price. I chose not to give them my business, nor will I in the future. I knew the owner of this business years ago and he was an honourable man. I don't know if he still has ownership but it is a shame the current staff do not have any honour at all. The only choice we have is where we spend our money. Don't reward these people

Last year I had the pleasure of being assisted by Maryam several times and this year Michael has been very helpful and courteous. They are not close to my home, but the professional staff is worth the drive.

Keeping this short and simple. The pool was bought and when it was assembled the liner was to small. After contacting store in Scarb. where pool was bought and telling Dillon that it was the wrong liner. Dillons response everytime was you measured wrong and in all his time of selling pools it had only happened twice with the wrong liner> It took 3 weeks and a trip to head office where Steve and Dave measured the liner and confirmed it was the wrong liner and they gave us a new one and that only took less than 1/2 hour > Steve said anything else would have to go through Scarb. store. Dillon and the other manager would not come out to the front of the store from the back room and kept telling the sales person that this was a special case and have not even enough decency or respect for their customers to call and apologize. Except for Steve and Dave i would not recommend this store to anyone.

I was desperately looking for a fitting that "blew off" from my sand filter. I called them on a Sunday, spoke with a lady who was extremely helpful. Went in to the store, didn't look like they had inventory of the part. The lady didn't give up, she went into the back and found the right part in a storage area. They refused to even charge me for it as it was already "written off"! WOW!! There still are some NICE people in this world! For any pool or spa supplies, I would never go anywhere else again!! Went in to have water tested and show a picture of a very green pool. Unlike another Pool store I went into, Dimitry actually listened to me and properly diagnosed the problem. He recommended new chemicals but not more than I needed, and slowly walked me through the process of getting rid of the algae. I very much appreciated his approach and he obviously knew what he was talking about. Problem solved several days later. Now I only try to deal with him when I come in because he is simply great to deal with.

I ordered a pool vacuum from this company and it was delivered to the wrong address. I know that I entered the correct address as my personal information automatically populates when I enter my email address (which was correct). The company is not taking any ownership for the error and has done absolutely nothing to assist. They are charging me full price for an item that I didn't receive. Their customer service is terrible an I consider this to be a fraudulent act on their part. Be aware!!!

Took 3 separate phone calls and the absolute rudest customer service I have ever experienced. I purchased my pool and my installer picked it up in May. 4 separate times had to return for wrong items during installation. Company here to close the pool and ive been given an inground pool cover. They are 'extremely busy right now' so Ive been told i will need to drive over an hour to exchange it. The closing company is not waiting 2+hrs so now forced to purchase another pool cover.

The staff is very knowledgeable and won't try to sell you something you don't need. They definitely appear to the in this business for the long haul. The inventory levels are adequate, the prices are very reasonable and they have price matched water bags for me before from an ad on the internet, although I'm not sure if this is a policy or was just done at their discretion. During Covid19, the store is open with restrictions as to the maximum number of people in the store at once. Face masks are required in the store (one-time use masks are provided for free if you need one), as are hand sanitizer or gloves (also available at the front entrance). I feel safe shopping there. The manager seems very hands-on so the staff are very conscientious and helpful. Water testing is always free and quick with no hard-selling based on the results. What else... they offer free parking....you can order stuff online... I sincerely think they have a great staff and do their best to serve their customers. I hope they can weather the Covid19 challenges and continue to offer great service to us appreciative customers!

My experience has been very positive. Today I thought I needed to replace my broken pool ladder and the sales person quickly identified not just the broken part but was able to find it in the store in seconds. It has been my experience at other stores which sell a lot of small parts that nobody knows precisely which one you need or if they do know, they aren't able to find it and then it becomes a scavenger hunt to look somewhere else or buy a brand new one. I also find this particular sales person to be honest and reliable when it comes to his suggestions which closely correspond to what the pool company I use tells me and different advise on pool websites so I dont feel scammed as I have elsewhere when I was first looking for a store. It is also to the stores credits that while like any business there is employee turnover they are able to retain some veterans there who really know there stuff like this one employee. For this reason they have my business year after year and will hopefully keep this up.

This has become a horrible place to shop! Spend your money at a place that cares about your business. I have been shopping at 'discounters' for a number of years. It has slowly gotten worse. Today, I looked at their website to find a solar pool cover. I was going to purchase it online, but it was hard to find out a definite delivery date. There was also a caveat about 'some items costing more than the quoted $15 for delivery'. As the cover was large, I thought this item might fall into that category. As such, I decided to call the store and see if it was in stock and if I could pick it up. The person who answered told me that it was in stock. I asked about the price as the website said 'online price only'. She told me to show them the price and they would honor it. I got to the store and asked for the cover. They brought out a cover which was not what I asked for. He was insistent that is all he had in stock. I indicated that I had called and was assured they did indeed have it. After a long delay, they found them and brought one out. They then tried to charge me the 'in store price' which was significantly higher than the online price. I told them about my phone conversation earlier and they agreed to bring the price down a bit. He then brought up the website, showed me the 'online shopping only' notice. At the end, he would not honor the online price that I was assured by phone that would indeed honour. The clerk was rude and obnoxious. I asked for a manager, but no one would would help find one. I left, determined to give my money to another store. If you are reading this, you can find many other places that are cheaper than discounters. While I was there, someone came to buy two bags of pool salt. They charged them about $12/bag. I just purchased the same at Walmart for $7.96. They tried to sells someone expensive chemical to adjust the alkalinity of their pool. If you read the ingredients, you will notice it is just 'sodium bicarbonate' (baking soda). Don't waste your money buying this stuff from these guys (or anyone else). Go buy baking soda from the dollar store.

Very disappointed, spent 1 hour in checkout line at Scarborough, and still had another 10 people in front of me to checkout, it was taking on average 10 minutes for person to checkout. I finally walked out of the store as I had another commitment. No one seemed to care, Sales staff just stood around, they should have got involved and helped the 2 check out personnel pick up the pace.

This store is a great place for all pool needs. I frequently bring my water in to get tested and the staff member who usually helps me is very young but extremely knowledgeable and friendly. He helped me get what I needed for my pool, told me exactly how much of each chemical I needed to add and when to add it. I also purchased a Superflow Variable Speed pump during the Canada Day sale and it was WORTH IT! The employee convinced me to go with this VS pump. He was right, the savings are huge with a VS pump even if the upfront cost is almost double a 1 speed pump. Overall experience here is amazing! They renovated the store so it is nice and clean.

Go to store for all my pool needs! Have been going here to purchase pool supplies for a few years now and they are great. Always willing to help out with product knowledge and recommendations. We just used them to purchase our new pool liner and safety cover- great quality and price- and they work with the installation company too so its a one stop shop. Also ordered pool heater through them for great price and they also connected us with an installer who will do all the work. They also give discounts to regular customers, such as $5 off each purchase or 5% off entire purchase and closed door sales. these things are great as pool supplies can add up quick.

I had recently placed a $2500.00 order to discounters Pool and Spa online, and by the way, this was not the first order, and received it the very next day, which goes to show you how desperate they were for sales. I received one item short. Unfortunately because I did not call to report the shortage until the 32nd day had passed, I was told there was nothing, NOTHING, they could do about it. Such POOR business decisions could make or break a company. John Conroy, who runs the online division, point blank repeated to me there was nothing he could do. Well they will NEVER get another order from me, and anyone of you reading this review ,should think twice about ever ordering from this company, if they can help it. All you can do is shake your head and move on. Sad but true.

After moving in this house and having people to come for pool opening, we discovered our pool was one of the terrible pools which the water was dark in colour. Being new to pool ownership I have learned that having a reliable source of expertise is important for peace of mind. There is a learning curve which can be frustrating at times. Things do go wrong, chemicals go out of balance and equipment breaks. How do you open and close a pool? Discounter’s Pool is one stop shop for your pool needs. As I was getting my free weekly pool water test results I purchased a new floaty. Because it was not a blow-up it was on the more expensive side. When I got home my daughter discovered that the outer shell was ripped. I promptly returned it and had it replaced with no questions asked. I appreciate the great service that I receive at this store.

I am Saman's wife and I went to buy a Vinyl Patch for my above the Ground Pool today July 20th 2015 in the evening. The girl who served me was very nice and polite. Then I asked whether they had Above the ground pool coping. This I know was available as I am an avid researcher and was reading on how to fix leaks as well as going a wonderful web site where all pool supplies are available called poolsuppliescanada.ca. Girl was not aware hence she asked another gentleman and after that asked the Man who was at the cashier counter. At once he said Above the ground the pool does not have coping. I was puzzled. Then I went over and explained that is that is put on the pool frame and whether I could show a picture. AT ONCE HE ASKED DID YOU BUY THE POOL FROM US. I SAID NO. THEN WE DONT HAVE IT. SO ALL CUSTOMERS IF YOU HAVE NOT BOUGHT THE POOL FROM THIS STORE THEY DONT HAVE WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR. I REALIZED MY USUAL POOL STORE IN MISSISSAUGA HOW WONDERFUL THEY ARE. REGRETTED GOING THERE AS I HAD TO ENCOUNTER A VERY NEGATIVE HOSTILE PERSON. He said he was doing something. Fine , but that's is not the way you treat customers.

I know there are protocols for Covid but all retail should have a counter for walk in business. The online should be preferred option but if someone needs an item and they don't know what it is called they should be able to come explain and hopefully get some help instead of being turned away. They don't have such a counter but staff were helpful even though I didn't have online order. Good job!!

This is the fourth time I've ordered from Discounter's Pool & Spa Warehouse. In my order I did a mistake and only noticed it the following morning after making my order. I sent an email early morning for the correction and was bit worried about it. Discounter's support team contacted me within an hour. I obtained confirmation that they did necessary changes to my order and refunded the difference! I was really glad, impressed and had a feeling that Discounter’s team actually cares their customers. They were also very quick to respond to emails regarding product questions! The shipping is super quick, Great people!

Not a good store, customer service is low quality and they have the wrong corporate mindset. For example, a while back, I overheard employees and management saying "if they don't take advantage of this great sale, it's their loss, not ours. That's WRONG because this store needs profit that comes directly from the customers to survive and if they don't get that profit, the store goes down. The entire chain goes down. The customers can take their business elsewhere easily. There are LOTS of pool stores here in Toronto, what makes Dave's Pool and Spa Warehouse so special? Not only that, the management in this store sucks. The employees and lower level management are too afraid to converse and even to look at the owner of this store straight in the eye. Nobody says anything beyond hello to the man because they are too afraid of saying the wrong thing and losing their jobs. That's not a good way to be with the owner.

Placed an order online over a 1 month ago with no information of what was going on with it from Discounter's pool so I placed a pretty bad review, now I've changed to 4 star thanks to Dylan, he briefly after called me and explained how the online orders aren't related to this location but he still got everything sorted out for me. Obviously I cant give a 5 star because of this company's policy of taking your money and not letting you know how long it's going to be until you receive your items. But the costumer service of this location seems to be great

Good day My family has been dealing with discounters pool for over 20 years and I had ordered a pool heater online. Really surprised by this overall experience. When I ordered the heater I realized the BTU was the wrong one, cancelled it a half hour later. I would of ordered a different one from your company but they said sold out for the one I needed. I received a receipt of the cancelation request. The heater was not delivered, however my credit card was charged and to date have not been refunded. I have sent 4 emails , left one phone message. I sent two emails to christe 0. (Construction Distribution & supply) and also have received 3 automated emails that it will be reviewed within 2-3 business days from last week, but still no outcome. Can someone please look into this thanks order number 47870-DPSW. ******UPFATE*****I have been contacted by discounters pool and it seems to be an issue with the delivery company not sending the heater back. Thanks for getting back to me...

Decent store ..The only difficulty is reaching them ... Constant voice mail ...Finally reached them after a dozen tries ....They need a better cust service line that is not voice mail with a 24hr return call turn-around time .. Common you can do better than that...
