I had been going somewhere else for 5 years and had bad experiences every single time, but because they were close to me I just kept going and hoping that it would improve. My last appointment was so bad however that it left me with permanent damage to my groin area! So, I decided to make the drive to Maria’s and try them out. I am NEVER going anywhere else EVER AGAIN! Heather was professional, accurate and very kind. We chatted the whole way through and she made me feel very comfortable. Unlike the other place I was going who’s younger and less experienced staff is always changing, Heather has been sugaring for 10 years already. The products they used for before and after left me feeling soothed and fresh. When I left the other place I was always stinging and burning, BLEEDING even, and had to wait days to be comfortable again. I was convinced that it was just me and that my skin must be more sensitive than other’s because that’s how the other place made me feel.. but I was not in any pain after Heather was finished. Whatever that lotion is that they use is amazing.. I couldn’t believe how much better it was. And somehow, it’s cheaper! The bottom line is, getting a Brazilian is a very personal experience no matter where you go, and you need someone who is going to make you feel comfortable and be gentle with you, someone who will listen if you have concerns and not treat you like an inconvenience. I have no intention of going back to Alexandria Body Sugar.. and the only reason I’m deciding to mention them is so you can avoid them too. The difference is like day and night. Even if it’s a 30 minutes drive to Maria’s instead of the 10 it used to take me, it’s worth it. And even though Maria’s is cheaper, I would have paid double for the service I received. Thank you Heather for changing my perception of the experience of sugaring! I never have to be scared or avoid making appointments again!

I am being fully transparent with my experience. I really wish I can reverse time so I never did the treatment because the damage was done. I paid to get a mole remover done. It did MORE HARM than good. The treatment ended up not working despite taking it twice. Worse of all, my skin became hyperpigmented looking worse than what it looked like before. My skin looked way better before the treatment. Now I am spending way more money to reverse something that was completely preventable. I really wanted to fix this insecurity of mine for a long time but they made it worse! Not only that but its costing ME MORE MONEY to spend on products to fix their doing. Please save yourself the trouble

The place is much larger than it used to be, and it looks nice inside. The bathroom had a section of the wall cutout with a space heater blowing into the wall on pipes (seemed odd). The cost for services has gone up significantly, and (according to their esthitician present) they do not have a physical price list, have to check online. Maria used to trim to make hair the correct length before sugaring, the esthitician who worked today did not. The hair was long for sugaring, and she just kept clucking and saying "It's your fault it hurts, not mine" So, that kind of customer service really puts me off. If you're going to come here, book in advance with Maria because she is great. The esthitician today I wouldn't rebook with.

About a year ago I was passing by her shop and heard previously about the benefits of sugaring over waxing, so I figured I would give a try. Well after a year I'm over satisfied with the service and the experience. Maria is the best esthetician that I know, she knows her stuff and what she is talking about. She is so lovely and making sure you have a good time. She has the perfect technique because I had previously so much ingrown hair and now I can see the difference. With waxing I had to go back every 3-4 weeks, still ingrown hair with sugaring with Maria it is 5-6 weeks with thinner hair and no ingrown hair. Ask for Maria next time you book your first appointment. Maria you are the best ! Thank you !

I’ve been going here since 2018 for sugaring services and absolutely love it. Every staff member is super friendly, professional and know what they’re doing. I’ve been to other sugaring spots before and always leave with most of my hair broken instead of fully removed, I don’t have that issue here. Sugaring is always thoroughly done and they make the process as comfortable as possible.

I have been coming to Advanced Body Sugar by Maria since 2014 for body sugaring on my entire body and I would not go anywhere else! From my own experience as well as people I am close with, other places may rush, break hairs and cause very painful ingrown hairs (which can lead to more serious issues). Maria's technique that she teaches her staff avoids this extra pain and harm. For me it is worth the money to not have the pain and damage that ingrown hairs can cause. The staff and location have changed a lot since I started coming 6 years ago. Very friendly staff, a beautiful, clean and sanitary location (which is reassuring especially during the COVID-19 pandemic). Even heated beds and calm relaxing rooms,. Whenever I go it's like a relaxing spa day. If you've never tried body sugaring or are looking for a new place to go this place is definately my #1 recommendation! Great service! My first experience doing a facial was relaxing and it wasn't overwhelming. Staff were nice and they really did their job amazingly cause the impurities from my face disappeared. I have sensitive skin and it didn't irritate my face at all. My aesthetician also gave me tips on how to better take care of my skin and we had good conversations.

Normally I am pleased with the services offered, but I had an experience that was extremely disappointing. The owner who I was booked with was running 15 minutes behind, I did not get an apology for this. While waiting, the owner's husband disrespected the very kind window-washer, calling him a drunk and making fun of him. I was so angry I almost left. During the same appointment while paying, a man with cognitive disabilities came in to say hello. The husband then howled in laughter when this man left. Update: It has taken me awhile to write this, so that I could process. I had an extremely disappointing and frankly disgusting experience with the owner. It started in the spring, when the owner’s husband stigmatized a local window-washer (I’m sure you can read my previous review on here). Following that interaction and after my review was posted, the owner approached me after my next appointment. She told me that she and her husband are “good Christian people”. She suggested that I come talk to her if I have a poor experience (fair), and she could provide free appointments to folks who aren’t happy with their experience. I said thank you, but not necessary, I would just like to see changed behaviour. She offered again, and I assured her no, I am not looking for free treatments. At my next appointment, the owner pulled me into her room and said “I am going to ask you to remove your review.” I said I would think about it. The owner asked why, I said because I wanted to keep her and her husband accountable, and I wasn’t confident that that had happened yet. As is my write to write an honest review. The owner then threatened me by saying she has spoken with her lawyers and they will be coming after me. For an online review. She then told me I am spreading lies about her and her husband, and I will only be hurting the other women who work there. She went on to say she has a witness (which is fine, because the cameras caught everything… there’s MY witness). I was so upset I left, and will neot be returning. I APPLAUD the women who work at this place. They are wonderful and talented and nothing but kind. As long as I have been going there (3 years), I have found the owner to be the pushy and the rude. I chalked it up to “oh, that’s just her personality” but no. Not anymore. I am appalled at how she chose to handle these particular situations. I wish nothing but the best for the women who work here, and hope they quickly find someone more deserving of their talent. Or perhaps they will open their own establishment. I would gladly spend my money there. It is the owner who ruined it for me, by first trying to buy me off and then by threatening me. Good riddance.

I started going there around 4 months ago and I fell in love with the space, the girls and the services. The girls are super nice, the owner is a sweetheart, they always have a smile in their faces. I go there to get facial done, a lymphatic massage from heaven, laser hair removal (so practical and painless) and much more. I recommend this place to everyone that I know. It really doesn’t matter which service you’re thinking of getting, you are not going to leave unhappy. Way to go girls!!

I started going to see Maria about 7 years ago after I had a bad experience at another sugaring place, unfortunately I had several ingrown hairs from the person not doing it correctly. I had Googled the best sugaring place in Winnipeg and Maria’s shop came up. When I had my first appointment I was immediately impressed by Maria’s professionalism, kind customer service and most importantly her high quality of work. I quickly realized that this is something you leave to the professionals and not every place that says they are professional at sugaring truly is. I started seeing Giovanna as well, a great Aesthetician who I highly recommend, her work is just as great as Maria. I have no regrets in continuing to visit for Maria’s for services and she has really expanded her growing company and she provides several services now. I highly recommend visiting Advanced Aesthetics by Maria if you would like high quality work, clean and professional service and to feel completely comfortable.

I can't say enough good things about this place and the people who work here, I always look forward to coming in for my appointments!!! First off I had purchased a groupon for a service that no longer existed at their salon so instead of making me chase Groupon for a refund (who wasn't responding I might add) they honored it with the new machines they now have which are way stronger and also slightly more expensive per treatment for no hassle or additional charge.. like are you serious, could you be any more accommodating and amazing!??!! The ladies from the front greeting and booking appointments to getting treatments in the back are all super friendly and knowlegable and a pleasure to be treated by and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for assorted esthetic services! ♡♡♡
