I went to Aru for the very first time last year , for highlights, it wasn't the right shade. I had told the stylist I wanted warm highlights, my hair was darker, and at the end she had to refix it and it was better. I had a great haircut from the stylist. The second time I had a different stylist and she is a master stylist. I had paid for full head highlights and my hair came out orange, and one side of my head was missing highlights side of my head, again I was very unhappy. It took a little over 2 weeks to get in to fix it, which it wasn't very nice to torture some one to make you wait that long as it is a mistake. The lights inside aren't the best to look at your hair in to you get outside. A different stylist tried to fix my hair and made it mousy brown, which looked like I had a green tint, all I wanted was warm highlights they used the wrong toner and toned it bad! So never again. I had asked the hair stylist do they have a file on my hair color highlights from the first time they said no! I never had a massage there or used the spa side,I have heard good things. The hair stylist are good for grad hair and special occasions for styling. I would not go back to Aru.

Elke is great at her job and I'm loving the haircut! Went from almost waist length hair to a pixie cut, and Aru salon made the whole experience very comfortable, I came out feeling lighter (very literally). She also went overtime to make sure the cuts were good, which both my friend and I appreciated lots. Friendly and approachable, definitely recommend coming here.

I have been here 3 times over the course of 2 pregnancies, each time to see their RMT. He is very professional, works on sciatic nerve pains, and has the equipment to provide a relaxing pregnancy massage - specifically pregnancy pillows so you can lie on your stomach. Would highly recommend Aru Spa!

My wifey just finished the hair treatment and facial. Worst service provided. Since, we were 15 mins late they said they will not dry the hair after treatment since we are late - really? I mean we drove for more than an hour based on your reviews and what you did was to leave the hair wet. The guy didn’t even know to open the bottle. We have been to many salons and parlours but this is the worst of all. DON’T TRUST THE REVIEWS. This is an honest review from me. Not sure how and why they have these many positive reviews. Hope I could give a 0 star. Will never recommend and this is our first and last visit. For $230 this is not the type of customer service expected.

I have enjoyed multiple massages with their skilled staff and look forward to going back soon. Just back from my first cut after lockdown and Adi did not disappoint! This is not the place to go if you're pregnant or of a larger size. They may offer prenatal massages, but for a pedi they expect you to sit on a bench, and for a mani an old dining room type dinner chair that has virtually no stuffing and no lower back support. No way that could work for anyone that actually has a big belly or is pregnant. Ill be 34 weeks pregnant in a few days and I don't know why they wouldn't tell me they don't have facilities for pregnant people since they were well aware of this. Frustrating to say the least, waste of travel time and gas.

Hopefully the COVID closure has given the spa the much needed time to fully look into the constant issues with the steam rooms and hair sinks and get some general maintenance done that they can't normally do during operating hours. Maybe some dusting and over all sanitation of walls etc before opening back up too?

On their website they advertise a hair donation program for BC childrens hospitals Wigs for Kids. I wanted to donate hair for this cause so I've emailed and called Aru several times for over a month. I've gotten no response to my several emails and when I call them, the employees tell me that their manger received my email requests but haven't responded yet.

DO NOT GO TO ARU SPA FOR RMT MASSAGES. Tbh I'm so put off by this 'spa' that I will not be returning for any services. This was our second visit, first visit was less than 5 months prior and the RMT was knowledgeable, caring and wonderful, and this is why my husband and I rebooked. First mistake, not asking for the same RMT. Upon arrival we were told we had to refill out the same forms we extensively did previously since we weren't in the system. It was humorous as I thought they must have tossed them out after leaving the papers in their waiting area, thank you. Our RMT was Christine, she seemed bothered right off the bat. My husband went first and asked her to concentrate more on his mid back section as it is a problem area. She focused on his neck and shoulder while chomping on something crunchy. Her nails dug into his skin, there was no spa music it was quiet aside from her eating something. She spent very little time on the 1 area he expressed needed the most attention. Then came my time, I asked her to focus on blood circulation for me for medical reasons, I asked her to pay more attention on my hands, arms, legs, and feet and not to do any head massages. This is where I should have just walked out, she said to get under the covers and she will return, AS SHE SAW LONG HAIRS ON THE BED AND REMOVED THEM WITH A GIGGLE. I was given a minute to get under the covers as there was no knock but she just walked in. There was 0 music, I could hear conversations happening on the outside. As I laid head down I noticed how disgusting the floor was, there were oil drops, dirt in the tiles and her shoes smelled and were dirty. I thought they had a heating pad under the covers, if there was it definitely wasn't turned on. Just as my husband, her focus went straight to my upper back and neck with immense pressure and I asked her to lighten up THEN HER NAILS STARTED DIGGING IN. I have scratch marks on my neck, back and legs from her. I have never been so furious during a massage but then thought maybe I made a mistake and booked with a regular masseuse and not an RMT, how would a RMT be so unprofessional and rude? When it came time to flip over she just flipped up the sheet and gave very little privacy. She didn't focus on the areas I asked her to do but went at it on my neck again, no coverings for my eyes. This is where I gave up and thought this couldn't get any worse and waited for the 55 mins to be OVER. When she hovered over me her breath was unreal and she was breathing out heavily. To end my experience she didn't give me a head massage but took BOTH of her oily hands and wiped them from my forehead to the top of my head. WHO DOES THAT?! I have never had any massage end like THAT. I just wanted to leave and declined the 'water or tea' offer. I did ask if she is an RMT, to which she answered yes. BIG SHOCK! I had 0 interest in using the shower, the change rooms bathroom was horrendous and I didn't want to touch any toiletries offered. At reception the girl seemed nice enough but ignored me asking for a manager and didn't care to ask how the experience was. This is where I decided to write a review instead of speaking with anyone there. I love going to the spa (NOT THIS ONE HOWEVER) and am an extremely patient and kind person but BEWARE AND BOOK ELSEWHERE. There are too many options out there than to just settle for this place. I didn't feel that taking this to management would really have a beneficial outcome as reading other reviews they just don't care. I don't know if this RMT needs more education or classes on etiquettes, but something needs to change.

Wow! That was just the best RMT massage! I also loved being able to be in a space I felt was being properly managed and cleaned. I was also impressed with how trained all staff were to support the initiatives to minimize risk of transmitting the spread of any illness. IN RESPONSE TO THE OWNER'S COMMENT - No, I've never been to your establishment. I've spent several hundred dollars on gift cards for my wife. She hasn't been in for awhile due to the pandemic but her mother made an appointment in the summer and you guys blew her off and wasted her time because your staff member was a no show. Which is really too bad because this was the place she loved getting a massage, but it sounds like your business has been going downhill. Don't book to get your hair done for a special occasion. They are unreliable and will waste your time. Pathetic customer service.

I would like to start off by saying this was my first ever massage and I really did not know what to expect. Rani was very welcoming and warm and told me exactly what to expect and she was so sweet while staying very professional! She started off by introducing herself leading my fiance and I to our private room and made me feel very comfortable. The other RMT who's name I do not remember and for that I am sorry was also very sweet and was extremely accommodating as well. The massage itself was absolutely amazing she hit all the right spots! The facility itself was very clean and well taken care of, the locker room, shower, steam room everything was very clean! I am so happy I picked Aru for my first time and will definitely be coming back and requesting Rani again!

Booked an RMT massage at Aru as it was recommended as a great place for spa services. The lounge and facilities are lovely. The RMT, Christine, was horrendous. I understand this was an RMT massage, however, I was there for a spa RMT massage and specifically mentioned I was there for relaxation. Never have I had a treatment where the sheet and blanket was just ripped off my back leaving me exposed while she put oil on her hands. When working in my shoulders I could feel her nails (which were chipped with polish), after massage my arms Christine left them dangling then went to work on my legs. When I turned over on to my back, I had to ask for something to cover my eyes and she made it sound like that is not something that has ever been done before. You could tell she had time to kill at the end as she provided the oddest scalp massage; when done properly it can be quite relaxing - this was not. Terribly dissatisfied. At check out I said that I may not come back and I was told two other RMTs were much better. However Christine works most evenings, which is disappointing as I would prefer to book services after work and not have to take time off in the middle of my day. The spa itself and location are lovely and the reception staff were friendly.

I recently had a bad experience at casbah with them cancelling my booking without letting me know and decided to try Aru again and I am so glad! Don't go here!!! I went there for a mani-pedi as I received gift certificate for my birthday. I haven't had any spa treatment in years cuz im a busy mom of three so I was quite disheartening that it went so poorly. I found the staff a bit rude, and not really very friendly. But the worst thing is that I ended up with a awful infection on my foot that has affected three of my toes. I called to let them know and they told me it must have been my doing and if I didn't like their service they were happy to not have me return. To be honest, I cried. I'm not confrontational so I backed down. Thus, my review. DON'T GO TO THIS SALON!!!

This was my first time going to Aru and I only did so because Spa Utopia had no space and I wanted a massage on my birthday. I booked a 10am and when I walked in no one was at the front desk. Eventually a technician came up and asked who I was waiting for. She asked who I was waiting for and when she realized it wasn’t her she walked away. Overall started off very awkward. I was sure to get to my appointment early so I could get settled in, but I ended up waiting 15 mins past my start time and my massage did not run late so I was shorted 15mins of my 75. The hot stone massage itself was nice, but I had a hard time getting relaxed as the silence / calm music was interrupted by the constant yawning and burping of my technician. The locker/changing area was run down and also smelt so strongly of rubbing alcohol, and while I understand the importance of a clean space, it was extremely nauseating. The pricing of Aru mirrors that of Spa Utopia, while the quality of service is no where near. I’d recommend saving your $ and going elsewhere.

Terrible customer service. To your response - I haven't been in for a couple of years because of the pandemic and I'm considered high risk. Although your business still kept flooding my email with spam. I think you already know how you treat your customers. I've read other reviews of people who had the same experience as my Mom just did a couple months ago. Dont Recommend- i've gone here several times over the years and for the most part have had positive experiences. I've noticed in the last year that services are shorter than advertised/paid for. I went for a treatment recently where I paid for a 65 min service. I arrived early and after the therapist grabbed me late, I ended up with a 50 minute massage versus the 65 minutes I paid for. This is the last time I will accept this and subsequently will search for another Spa.

I booked a month in advanced for our anniversary with my husband for a couple massage. They called me 1.5 hours before our appointment and canceled it. Excuse was one of their therapist was in training!!! I wanted to speak with the manager, but it took her a couple days to call me back. We are extremely disappointed. This did not just happened once. A few years ago it happened as well. I believe in giving people chances, so l did. The manager was very apologetic. She was supposed call me back for some arrangement but, still no response! This was in Oct 14 2021 Update l believe given a chance to people. And we did. We went for a couples massage back to Aru Spa. WARNING!!! In my opinion I'm guessing most of the five star comments on here are fake. I decided to buy my wife a massage as a surprise and couldn't have regretted it more. What a waste of money! She came home from this place practically crying. She said the place wasn't very clean if you looked closely and the service there seemed like the people didn't care about much. The worst part was that the guy that was giving here the massage decided to massage her face even though she went in for a back massage. She told me that while he was massaging her he kept stopping to either take a sip of his drink or scratch his face right before touching hers agian...... Yuk! My wife emailed management about her experience after waisting her time talking to the people that were there at the time and never received a response. I'm guessing they get a lot of complaints. Needless to say we highly recommend not waisting your money at this spa.

I really don’t know where to start.My first visit I was given the wrong service, manager was supposed to call me. I had a second service, which was ok, very nice lady.Still no call from management regarding my first service.. My 3rd service I received a call 20 minutes prior to my appt that a staff member had called in with a personal issue, so it had to be cancelled.I reminded reception that I was still waiting for a phone call from a manager. When I finally did get a call 3 days later, it was from the same girl, not a manager, stating that my next appt would be free of charge. Pulled into the parking lot 12 minutes before my appt today, and received a call that once again my wrap had been cancelled due to not having a room available. After Strike 3, I will never go back to this place.

My haircut and color was done by Joey and it was ok however upon checkout I purchased a hair product and paid over $250 in total including tip. On my drive home which is about 40 mins, I realized I really didnt need the product so I decided to drive back to Aru and hoping to return it since I have just gotten it a moment ago. So I was told they are not accepting returns due to the CoVid situation. Oh well, $60 worth of anti-frizz hair spray ruined my first time and probably the last time.

I went in for a haircut and style that should last around an hour. I got a quick cut with no styling and ending up leaving with wet hair (25 min later). I have an undercut and asked if he had time if he could put a design in. He said he couldn't, which I was OK with, but I thought with the extra time he had he might have at least tried . overall I paid 65$ for a cheap cut with no styling and I didn't leave feeling like it was money well spent.

Had a massage appointment booked for today but had to leave without my treatment. My appointment was booked for 4:00, I waited in the lounge until 4:25 and I finally went to ask the receptionist what was happening. She advised me that they were running late and were having difficulties with the hot stone machine. She told me I can continue to wait or reschedule. While I waited no one bothered to come talk to me or explain what was happening. I of course left because by then I was frustrated at the lack of service I had received. Definitely wouldn’t recommend this place if you’re looked for a relaxing experience.

I had gone in for a "re-do" of a previous appointment with Aru and left very dissatisfied. My first appointment I had showed a reference photo of s few blonde highlights and asked for curtain bangs. The stylist unfortunately missed the mark for both. The placement of the colour and the colour itself was not what the reference photo I showed was. I gave the benefit of the doubt that perhaps it was my own fault for miscommunication for this blunder. However I noticed that my bangs were cut unevenly when I got home. I emailed Aru about my experience and they were understanding and extremely kind. I asked for a refund (I had paid $180 for 4 small foils and a cut, when on the website this would be for a half head of foils and a cut) but they insisted for a re-do so I was much obliged. However at my re-do appointment they stylist working with me did not seem super experinenced. I just wanted my hair back to one colour, and my hair is currrently dyed brown-ish black from home. Despite this, the stylist dyed by bangs (which were coloured blond from the previous appointment) just black! So it looks super awkward! She told me she was going to match my hair colour and even brought the little hair samples. She did not ask me if I was ok with this color, and it was honestly my mistake not to ask her to see it, but she was saying she was going to match my hair color so I mistakenly assumed. Her cut of my curtain bangs was choppy, and I'm not sure if that is a fair assessment by me, but I had gotten curtain bangs from another stylist at Aru before and they turned out great. I just think that for Aru to offer a re-do, they should aim to provide an experienced stylist so that I could have a better chance at receiving a good result. I am really grateful that Aru was kind enough to offer the re-do, but the effort seemed so minimal I wish I would've pushed harder for a refund.

Cancelled treatment last second for scrub, called to say so just before treatment. Not great service. Then we clarified on phone that our massages would happen at the same time, because we were initially both going to have scrubs. One would be getting the scrub, while one got massaged, and then we would flip. Since scrubs got cancelled I confirmed on phone we we would both get massage at the same time given the issue with the scrub. We got there and story changed, one could go in for massage, other one had to wait for an hour. They won't let you wait inside. My sister in law had the keys to car, they wouldn't go get get keys from her so I could wait in the car. I sat outside on a bench (great spa experience, lol). Finally I cancelled my massage while waiting. Given all their problems and them not following through as they said they would. Then they were rude and threatening sayin you must pay. Front desk person was rude in all interactions. I fought it, their mistakes, their rude staff, their broken machine. Their issue. Take your business else where. A spa should be relaxing, and easy. Anything but. Horrible!!

So glad I went to Aru! I needed RMT services due to severe physical conditions which also cause me high amounts of stress. I've gone to physio & sports clinics where the RMTs are very knowledgeable but the experiences have been less than relaxing. At Aru not only did I have the services of a highly knowledgeable fabulous RMT but the entire experience from start to finish was wonderful. The price is slightly higher but definitely worth it when you consider the pristine,gorgeous surroundings, the calming. soothing atmosphere (you feel like you enter a cocoon of tranquility), the complete pampering & the professional, friendly staff. I went to Aru for a facial and absolutely loved my experience! I can't wait to go again. When I arrived, I was directed to a wonderful spa like bathroom / changeroom to change into a room. They provided a locker for my personal belongings. I changed into my robe and was offered tea / water in a private lounge while I waited for my appt. ( I was early). The Aru signature facial was the best facial I have ever had. The room was cozy and relaxing, and my spa therapist knew just what to do to make me feel wonderful. I loved that when she put the moisturizer on face, she massaged my neck, all the way down to my arms and fingers. My face felt so fresh and clean, I left the spa feeling beautiful! I would highly recommend checking them out for the signature facial!

i had long hair till my elbows and wanted to get just one hair color overall. my appointment was at 3pm i was there till 7pm. she bleached my old color, and recolor my hair that i asked, but she left my roots uncolored that was in black, she washed my hair, and then apply color that i requested only on the roots seperately, it was so much time consuming, when she washed my hair second time, it was NOT MATCHING AT ALL. i was soo upset that i had to come back second day again and get my all over once again. its soo much unhealthy for my hair :( and then i gota pay $ 358 for a simple hair color?? and then they ask for the TIP? wuhh! IAM EXTREMELY NOT RECOMMENDING ARU AND SPA TO ANY OF MY FRIENDS!

STAY AWAY from ARU SPA if you want to get any professional hair coloring or highlights. I spent over a $1000 on hair and products over the course of 3 sessions. They didn't even offer. ARU SPA will only reply to your email if you post something about them. I emailed them almost a month ago now and told them I wasn't happy when they called me in for a consultation and offered me absolutely nothing.Reading from others peoples reviews I should've learned to stay away. My son bought me a gift card for mother’s day so I booked an hour long massage and kerastase hair treatment. The spa is clean and has a great vibe. The steam room was an added bonus. I’ll make sure next time to allow a bit more time so I can fully enjoy it. My experience started with a steam then I relaxed in their lounge area with a nice crisp glass of white wine. My massage was lovely....just the right amount of pressure and she worked out knots that I wasn’t aware I even had. My kerastase treatment greatly improved my very dry hair. The stylist recommended a couple of Kerastase products to try but there was no pressure to buy them. Overall it was a great experience and I look forward to going again.

I had a RMT appointment on Dec 8 at 10 am. I arrived at Aru at 9:50 am and the store was still closed. There were 2 people waiting outside of the store as well with me as we all have 10 am appointment. The lady came in late after 10 am and finally got the store open. I rushed in and changed and sat in the lounge waiting for the RMT to come and get me. Then the lady ( who came in late to open the store) informed me that my RMT was cancel as the therapist was in the car accident. I made my trip to Aru and waited for nothing. No one informed me ahead of time that the appointment was cancelled. The store should have open the store before 10 am knowing there are few people have their appointment booked at 10 am. On Dec 22 on had another RMT appointment at 10 am. The store sent me an email at 10:41 pm the night before informing me the appointment is cancelled due to the therapist was in the car accident. My appointment was cancelled with a short notice again . Now I am wondering if my next appointment on Dec 28 @ 1 pm would be cancelled as well coz my therapist might be in the car accident too. I plan my whole day around my appointment and I respect Aru's time and never miss an appointment. I feel like I am not treated with the same respect from Aru and very disappointed in how Aru handle things like this. I don't think I will be going back again after my last appointment on Dec 28 ( if it's not being cancelled again).

I had my hair chopped by SYRENA June 25/2014! A horrible experience! One side is longer then the other, and not properly trimmed over the ears. My banks are horrible, they have a huge gap in it. Aru does not even have the courtesy to give me a refund. They expect me to get it fixed by one of their experience hairdressers. I was told that Syrena was experienced, I like to know how their "experience hairdressers" would do better. I would not recommended Aru Spa and Salon to anyone! Very, very upset and disappointed!

My hair appointment with Elke was wonderful! It's been over a year since my last haircut because of covid, and my hair had grown so long that I wanted to donate it. She was very helpful in sharing what type of hairstyle would look good once the length was taken off, keeping in mind the fine texture of my hair and my desire to quickly and easily style it while adding volume. Additionally, she provided me with tips on how to pull the hair off my face at night to reduce the breakage I was experiencing from pulling it up in a high ponytail. I also appreciated her product recommendations - my hair looks and feels amazing now!

My hair experience (yes it was an experience!) with Nicole today was nothing short of amazing! It had been a little while since I had gotten anything done with my hair, and I was inspired by the posts of Nicole's colour work/balyages that I kept seeing on Facebook. I came prepared with some photos from her posts of what I was hoping to achieve. Nicole actually listened to me, saw what I wanted to do, and made it happen. Every time that I can remember going to the salon in the last 10+ years, the stylists always end up doing what they want not what I want. "Oh you're a busy mom, this will be better for maintenance" or if I want to go a certain colour "Oh we can't do that, it will destroy your hair" or when I say I want to keep the length, I get "Oh, but let's just give you some layers", and then end up chopping off way too much! I usually leave with something okay, but something I am not that happy with. Today, after Nicole was finished I was soooooooo thrilled to see the colour that I wanted AND the length that I wanted kept! The Keratese treatment was a great added touch. Nicole took before pictures off the back of my head, and i was actually horrified and embarrassed to see how awful my hair looked when I first came, in, in fact I am hoping that she can text them to me, so I can yell at my family for not telling me the state the overgrowth of the highlights was. Nicole did an amazing job, and I am super excited about my hair once again... i don't think I've been this excited since I was in my 20's! I even started talking about adding foils to make it pop, and had to be talked down to waiting a couple weeks. LOL I'm bringing both my daughters on Saturday for foils/cut/style , and after seeing my hair, they cannot wait! Thank you Nicole, and thank you Aru Spa!

Went for the couples Japanese experience, ended up costing me about $450 for the both of us which was expected. The one BIG issue that I had was the customer service and also the questionable levels of sanitation that the spa maintains. The couples treatment includes a full body exfoliation, the Japanese bath, and then a one hour massage. The exfoliation was nice and then we entered the Japanese bath. In the romantic Japanese bath, I ended up stepping on BROKEN GLASS. Yes that's right. The relaxing bath had BROKEN GLASS at the bottom which I stepped on. This was not only concerning, but also brought up many questions. If the bath had BROKEN GLASS in it for me to step on, when was the last time they had cleaned it? They told us we were the first customers that day to use the bath. So essentially we thought it wasn't cleaned daily, and we were soaking in the last peoples warm dead skin from their exfoliation. Needless to say this ruined the experience for us entirely. Pay 450 dollars, step on some broken glass and relax in other peoples floating dead skin, nice. Luckily, they said they were sorry, and offered me a free $10 gift card with a minimum purchase of $50 on my next visit (never going back). Also, they said that the next day there management would call us to right the situation. It's been 2 weeks now and they never bothered calling. WOULD NEVER GO BACK Notes: -Went for Japanese couples experience -Stepped on a shard of broken glass in the bath of other peoples dead skin -Said they were sorry and gave me a $10 gift card if/when I spend another $50. So a maximum 2% discount. -Said they would call to right the situation. Never did, it's been 2 weeks. -Spent $450 for a non-relaxing semi-grotesque experience.

I made a reservation online and received confirmation of my appt as requested. I called just before the appt to ask a question and they informed me that they were expecting me the following day. They told me often the system glitches so even tho I had the confirmation email it was scheduled improperly in their system. For Over the last 2 years I had a lot of problems with dark spots at my face and I didn’t know what to do about it anymore, till aru spa offered me great facials (peels) and offered me the best whiting Cremes ever, know not even 6 mounts later my dark spots are completely gone! My husband and I received the 800 dollar executive package plus lunch as a wedding gift. Upon arriving, we immediately realized they were disorganized. The staff forgot to mention our lunch menu which was later brought to our attention by the massaging staff. After our full body massage, we were advised that our lunch would be served. We were seated and later learned our lunch was not coming. The Aru Spa ordered the lunch from a local business and would not take any accountability. So we went into our facial treatment hungry. After the treatment we were hoping as some point the manager would speak to us but they were no where to be found. At the end of checking out we received our lunch in a takeout bag with no cutlery. The staff suggested using their chop sticks which we declined and ended up picking a set of forks at a nearby KFC. Prior to exiting we requested to speak to management twice however they came up with excuses that they were busy. Prior to leaving we asked again and they told us they left. We believe they were too embarrassed to speak to us. We were given a business card instead, Eilah Chonn. No management even followed up with us the following days to apologize for our experience. We have gone to many spas and have never experienced such horrible customer service. This package is definitely not worth 800 dollars.
