I showed up two hours before closing (I called first) there was no one in the shop. I ask politely if I can have a pedicure, the lady says well I've had back to back today clients and I just want to clean the salon. Okay, so that's a no. She just looked at me no apology nothing. She said I could come back. No, I don't think I Will. I'll drive to Belleville or Trenton to get better service. How do you stay open if you tell customers they can't have a service while you're open?

Hi everyone! I'd like to post about a ***warning*** message about a local Brighton salon/spa and hopefully, save someone from a disaster. Essence Day Spa offers standard services (ie. waxing, mani/pedis etc). I've been going to this spa for months as it is one of only 2 salons in Brighton that provide these services. As of late, I've been burnt (my skin went from bright red, to raw, to a burnt crimson colour) because the wax that was applied to my eyebrows and upper lip was not only way too hot, but also rushed. This happened on both of my eyelids. As you'll see, my eyebrow shape is completely gone and I have barely any eyebrow left! At the same time, I 100% have always had to go over my brows/upper lips again because they consistently miss hair each time. I wish this was all. Since July 2016, I have gone to this spa and their pricing for eyebrows/upper lip has always been $11.00, until they doubled this price to $22.00 with no warning. They told me at the till and I was shocked that I had to pay double for a mediocre job that I was going to have to go home and fix myself. They mentioned that it had been a 'special' - I suppose this special lasted 8 months? Aside from this, a quick note about their manicures from Essence Day Spa - mine have always, without any exception chipped within a few days. All of this being said - I think this spa has been given a fair chance. I will not be returning to this spa under any circumstances! Please save your hard earned money and go to and quality salon that offers you the service, precision and care that you deserve! I know this was a long review, thank you very much for reading. I do hope that my lesson was one that doesn't have to be learnt by anyone else!

When I moved to Brighton I was so happy to see what looked like a decent spa right in town. The booking experience was really weird as I had to leave a message and didn’t get a call back for quite some time. In I went and had a pedicure — she was so rough that none of it was enjoyable and the pedicure was very poor quality - uneven cuts/filing, polish not applied properly. Within days it looked terrible. I thought it was just one bad experience and would maybe give it one more try. Until I started to hear from others about similar experiences and realize that this is the norm. Suffice to say I won’t be going back.

Wow. Ese gives AMAZING massages!! I will be recommending her to all my friends/family in the area. I’m not from around here but would actually stop into Brighton again just to get another massage from her. So kind and friendly, she treats you like family. Excellent customer service.

I went to this salon once and will be the only time. I’m a nail biter, but wanted to have fake nails for an event to look nice. I walked in and had no troubles being fitted in, which most certainly is a plus when your on the go. The problem is, when I got the solar nails they broke and had to go back that same day 5 times! Not only that, she had stuffed cotton balls with glue under my nails damaging the skin, and had cut me on every finger with the filer...and of course had to make sure to put acetone on the open bleeding wounds, even when I said “ouch, this is really burning.” She ignored my pain, but also had to go on about having to close her shop for a transgender person and how it’s a pain to do so, which most certainly is none of my business to know and shouldn’t be hearing. I went to another salon in Belleville, and the staff were in shock with all the gunk and rushed job, and they could tell it could get infected if this wasn’t looked after...after going back that day 5 times I was sick of it, so it’s best to stay away from the pain. The worst part is, that this is a local business and totally misrepresents the quality of local services provided in Brighton.

By far the worst pedicure. All of us had unfinished nails, polish that was clumpy and pooling, cuts, nail lengths that were painfully too short. One didn’t even last five minutes after being finished and fell off. I couldn’t believe the finished quality of our nails. If you’d like proof, I can provide photos of each of us. I would think twice about booking here if I was you.
