Loved the service, always love Aveda salons however disappointed in the price, I had called to book and requested a rough quote on how much a wash & blowout would be, advised I have long hair and was quoted $55. When it came time to pay it was $78.00 because I had extensions that were sewn in. Although I was incredibly happy with my stylist and the way she styled my hair I have never had a salon up charge for permanent extensions. Just disappointed is all especially after calling ahead for a quote on long hair and was in and out of the salon within 1 hour.

My girlfriend went there to get her hair died red and they redid three times and never got even close to red. One of the worst experiences and customer service every. Would never suggest going to them at any point in time. There's no proffesionallity what so ever. No wonder it's always empty.

Came for a hair and makeup trail run for wedding in july. Tara helped me figure out which hair accessory would work best in my fine hair. She asked lots of questions and listened to me. I haven't been here in quite a while but remember it being a great salon. Unfortunately the management has not been able to keep up those great standards. I initially asked for an experienced stylist who is very good with blonde. My hair was near white blond with dark roots and i wanted it evened out. The stylist and I discussed and agreed on a cool toned blond and that id like to keep the coolness while blending in the roots better. We decided to do both blonde and brunette highlights and lowlights. The results were okay but not entirely what i was looking for. Its possible she was rushing and didnt apply the correcr or even toner as she had a BBQ to get to and the previous client was running late. Somehow my hair was turned to a cheap looking yellow blonde. Plus the blonde in the roots was now a light white blond but the majority of the ends were a brassy yellow. I asked to have the stylist look at my concerns and suggest a solution. We agreed on using a toner to tone down the yellow as additional highlights would surely fry my hair at this point. Well first of all the toner turned my hair to a light brown, second i was charged an ADDITIONAL $200 on top of the $300 i already spent. So $500 in and im still not happy. I had to pay $500 to change my hair from a very light blond to a mousy brown with still some yellow blond highlights poking through. The only thing the manager Shay was able to suggest was coming back in for more blonde but paying full price because this would be an "additional service". So these crooks wanted to take $700 from me for a service that should have been done proper the first time. Unbelievable... I will definitely not be trusting these guys with my hair again.

I had a great experience this morning with Stephanie. She could tell I was a little stressed, so she gave me a head and shoulder massage before starting my haircut. She was easy going and friendly and was happy to give me suggestions to update my look. The people at the front desk were lovely and gave me a complimentary bag of Aveda samples because I purchased some product. They got me in last minute (on a weekday morning) and offered me coffee. Great service and nice atmosphere.

I saw Veronica yesterday for a much needed cut and colour. Veronica was wonderful! She's very kind and definitely knows her stuff. I told her I wanted to go purple! Now I know I have a dark hair colour to begin and she understood that I didn't want to bleach my hair. She did her best! When I left the salon I felt it looked a little more on the red side which I didn't really want, but I was also leaving the salon at 9pm so when I got home I looked took a look in the bathroom at home that has white walls and bright white lights... still red even in the sun. BUT that's ok! I had red hair for many years and I still plan on coming back, my cut is fabulous and my hair feels so good. Thank you Veronica! ????

Went in to get my roots touched up and she ended up bleaching them way lighter then the rest of my hair. Had to then bleach my whole head to match and now my hair is very damaged. Disappointed i had to pay $200 for something i didnt ask for and she messed up on. Thought this place would be so great but i am still dealing with hair issues from it, worst decision i ever made going here.

Cale did an immaculate job on my hair. He nailed the colour both times I’ve seen him and is super honest and tells me what will look natural with my just as immaculate complexion. One of the best beginner stylists I’ve seen in a long time, he will get you ready for hot girl summer like no other stylist would. I’d let this man do anything to my (yet again) immaculate head.

Got my husband a spa package from here for a surprise Christmas present! He ranted and raved about how amazing the massage was, the pedicure was very professional and they actually took off a large amount of dead skin off his feet and gave him tips going forward to keep up with his foot care being that he wears workbooks all day long. I just very recently moved to St. Albert's downtown and instantly noticed the aesthetically pleasing building. My waxing appointment was anything but, I've been waxing for over 10 years and never experienced a full leg wax to be so painful. There were also some areas that were totally missed. I definitely did not get my monies worth and I'm sad to say won't be returning. I did love the atmosphere!!

I've been coming here for years but something has been bugging me for a long time. Why don't they have a voice mail message or answering machine? That would be a very minimum level of service but they don't even provide that. I called on Friday to book an appointment and got no answer. I don't know if I should bother calling tomorrow or Monday because they couldn't be bothered to provide a message letting me know their hours over the holidays. Such a simple thing but they can't be bothered. I love my stylist but I would really love it if she worked at a different salon.

I absolutely adore The Rock! Caroline is incredibly talented and transformed my blonde a few years ago. My highlights are always incredibly natural looking even when we go a few shades brighter. I've referred several friends to her because people are always asking who does my color, and they're always so happy. Caroline cuts my hair – I usually schedule a cut with her every other time I get my color done. Be sure to book well in advance so you can get both done on the same day! I recently trusted Caroline with chopping off 7 inches (my hair was LONG) and have never been happier with a hair cut. Aside from how how talented the colorists/stylists are, the salon is also super chic, and the staff is so friendly and attentive – they're always offering coffee, tea, water, magazines, you name it. I always feel incredible when I leave the salon. Can't recommend enough, and can't wait to get back, Im so glad to see they’ve been able reopened after all this covid stuff

I just got back from my appointment for a wash, cut, and blow-dry. It was my first time there (they were lovely, even accommodating me when I was 20mins late to my appointment), Danielle was my stylist.I have to say, it was a very positive experience. I hadn't had a hair cut in over 7 months, so you can imagine the state it was in! Danielle was very attentive, and explained everything clearly and in detail. She managed to make what was very dull, dehydrated looking hair, look very healthy and shiny, whilst still maintaining a length I felt comfortable with. The salon staff are very professional but friendly, offering drinks, and always making sure everything was alright. Although I'm coming in from out of town, the next time I'm in St.Albert, I would definitely stop by again. If you're in the area, and looking to have your hair done, I would definitely recommend The Rock, and Danielle, in particular.

I was given a gift card this past Christmas to The Rock. I was lucky to meet Caroline- and let me tell you- she is A-MA-ZING! I haven’t had my hair done for over a year. Fairly new mom- my hair hasn’t been in my priority list for a long time. Today was the day- and I am SO THANKFUL to receive the gift card and finally use it! The before and after pictures are incredible. I didn’t realize how neglected and damaged my hair was. It took a while- but she put everything she could into it and I feel like an entirely new person! Don't do it! I called and asked for an experienced stylist to do blonde foils and a color correction. I got someone (assumingly quite new) who gave me chunky, early 2000s style highlights. The manager noticed and kindly attempted to fix this by adding in babylights and a free trim. However, my ends are still an awful yellow and the roots are still not blended properly. I now have a noticeable color difference halfway down my head and after spending 7 HOURS in the salon, still walked out extremely upset. AND paid $250 just to get this awful root-touch up job that I need to get redone elsewhere.

I too have been going to the Rock for years. The last 3-4 times that I went was terrible. In my chart for waxing it says no rubbing alcohol. The waxist came out and before I had time to say no rubbing alcohol it was on my face. It was the most painful facial waxing I have ever received. I started to have a reaction and my face was very red and then scabbed over. That same time the hairstylist didn't even cut my hair even. I had a friend trim the extra two inches that wasn't cut in the back. Then the last time I went I wanted some high lights and my hair was white and the hair cut was terrible. I have never once had them say oh seeings your face looks very terrible (and hurt for weeks after) after that waxing we will knock that price off. They sure have changed, and I need my hair cut and I don't know if I want to go back!!!!

I have been a loyal client of the Rock for almost a decade. I refuse to go anywhere else. Their prices are comparable and Aveda makes it 100% worth it. It isn't as harsh as other colour lines. Especially when I've been blonde in the past. Love you girls!

100% would recommend. I had a hair emergency which reduced me to tears and left me unable to leave my house. Called the Salon and Caroline squeezed me into the schedule. Not only did she fix my hair'tastrophe but she also provided emotional support and comic relief. In an hour, my hair went from severely knotted and uneven to beautiful. I will definitely be back! This salon is an absolute TREASURE! For a few years I've been struggling to find someone who could help me achieve the hair color I want. I'm naturally blonde, but for some reason, within a few weeks after a color it turns brassy. I've used all of the recommended products, but it still never worked. All of that changed when I came to The Rock I expect to spend 3-4 hours here during a visit, but they never rush or make me feel like they needs to tend to multiple clients at once. The stylists also aren’t pushy with products and offers you an assortment of options at different price levels. It's also important to note that the atmosphere of this salon is incredible, and it's always nice when a hair salon appreciates you and spoils you a bit. Coffee, tea, water, magazines, complimentary hand massages etc. They really nail the customer experience here. Highly recommend this salon to everyone!

Caroline is the most outstanding colorist/hair dresser I've ever known. Though she's known for her expertise with blondes, I want the red heads out there to know that she's an expert with our color too. I am a natural red head and it's been frustrating through the years to get the right color that doesn't fade out since red oxidizes so quickly. Caroline uses a two step process that locks the color in and since I've been seeing her, I have never gotten so many compliments on my hair. She's a wonderful woman filled with wisdom, humor and generosity who makes every client in the salon feel like they are a guest in her home, a real plus in the City. - I am one of many regulars who won't go anywhere else.

After numerous poor cuts at a different salon, I walked into The Rock Salon & Spa desperate for a correction. Shaye did not disappoint at all. She listened to what I described and looked at a few photos and then gave me the haircut that I had been looking for over the past year. I have since returned for another cut, and I have taken my toddler in for a cut as well. Shaye is very talented and can cut women's, men's and children's hair with skill. In addition to getting a great cut/color, the prices are excellent too!

It didn’t take her more than 2 minutes to figure out a solution for my destroyed hair. They’ve earned another loyal customer. The service is just beyond wonderful. The lady doesn’t just give a normal head wash, she also throws in a relaxing massage. Absolutely worth every penny spent!

I chose the Rock because I thought it was one of the top salons in St. Albert based on longevity in the business. However, what I received is easily the worst haircut I've ever had. When making the appointment, I was told I was being paired up with one of the lower pricing tier stylists, but who was very experienced so I felt good about my appointment. What actually happened is that they had someone who had graduated from beauty school literally weeks before, cut my hair unsupervised. The length is way shorter than what I asked for and there are choppy layers which are 4+ inches shorter than the baseline of the haircut which do not belong anywhere so they just stick out haphazardly like a shelf. The cut I asked for should not have any layers in it, just as a note. After TWO RECUTS (one side 1” shorter than the other, then one side had a chunky shelf layer that did not exist on the other) I am left with a bad hair day every single day. I lost 5+ inches of overall length and I am left blow drying and curling or straitening it every morning to hide the layers (not what I was thinking when I asked for an easy to style cut which complemented my natural curls/waves) and it still looks terrible. The woman who Re-cut my hair was nice enough and did what she could to fix it but it was a futile effort as the damage was already done by the original stylist. I don’t care much for writing reviews but I want to scream/cry every time I go to style my hair so I am trying to save someone, anyone, from a terrible cut after thinking they were doing themselves a favour by going to a boutique salon for a haircut. Steer clear, you can get a better haircut at the mall.

I am always pleasantly welcomed upon arrival and repeatedly receive amazingly expert care and attention to my hair and skin, I would never consider going anywhere else. The shop only uses and markets Aveda products which enhance my beauty treatments; I am repeatedly compliments on my hair so they must be working, indeed! The Rock's prices are very reasonable and let's remember, you truthfully get what you pay for. I always leave The Rock with a sense of being cared for and about! This would be my first visit to The Rock. Although my first attraction was that the salon uses Aveda colour which is around 97% naturally derived and the least damaging for my blonde hair. I soon realized my stylist Shaye was well rehearsed & a true artist while performing my balayage! There were absolutely no harsh lines & the colours were softly diffused together! Now I can understand why the technique is even more important! Will for sure be back to see Shaye for my next balayage !

Horrible experience and obscenely expensive! I asked for blonde highlights and low lights and came out with purple and pink blobs in my hair. They couldn't fix it after 3 attempts. They washed and blow dried my hair 4 times ! And didn't even offer and deep conditioning treatment or scalp massage. I got not even half my head done and charged me $235.00. !! I asked for strawberry blonde low lights and came out with pink and purple hair. Didn't even get an apology from staff . I was on crutches and staff wouldn't even help me with the door. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE DONT GO HERE!!

This salon is the BEST salon I have ever been to. Shaye is absolutly awesome! I have very dark hair and have been to many salons for blond almost platnum highlights and always left orange, gold, and brassy. I was told countless times that I could not pull this light a color blond and that I was to dark. After just one visit Shaye pulled the exact color I wanted, which is unbelievable since I had been trying to go light for over a year!! My haircut was perfect and just what I had asked for. I get so many compliments on my hair now and even though I live far I will not go anywhere else . Top salon with good prices, Thanks to a great colorist and kind staff .

I stumbled across The Rock Salon & Spa quite by happenstance. I was on the receiving end of a botched cut and colour at another salon and needed it to be fixed. I googled salons that were close and after reading the reviews and seeing their previous work, I decided it was a superior, reputable salon that I could trust to fix the mess of another. I called and they suggested I come right away and have a stylist look at it. I was still feeling a bit traumatized and embarrassed but I was greeted with a friendly smile that put me at ease. It was early evening and the place was a hive of activity and all the staff, stylists, customers were smiling and happy. I was then introduced to my miracle worker, Lidia who was sympathetic, understanding and genuinely friendly. Thankfully she was able to book me in for the next morning after we had decided our plan of action and I was able to leave knowing I was in good hands. As for my appointment day, everything from the smiling, friendly nature of every single person in the salon to the cup of tea, I have never experienced in a hair salon before. I couldn’t be happier or more grateful for the service I received. Thank you to Carrie and the Owner (my apologies I don’t remember your name) for the moral support during the process and most of all, Lidia for my hair that you managed to transform into something I love!

Amazing Experience! After reading reviews, I decided to see if Lidia could cut my hair. I came in with hardly any idea of what I wanted and she gave me some good ideas of what would look good. After chopping off 12 inches of hair and a colour, I couldn't me more happy! I am very apprehensive of hair cuts to start with, let alone a drastic change like this. She set my mind at ease from the moment I sat down! I have a trendy, easy to maintain, beautiful haircut! (I didn't go completely short, to shoulder length) but wow! I couldn't be happier! Great atmosphere. Clean and comfortable. They play music but at a good level, not so loud you can't think but just loud enough you can understand the lyrics while still being able to tune it out. Staff are friendly and good at their job. I forgot to ask my manicurist her name but she was great and did a lovely job. I had a shellac manicure done. Would definitely recommend this place but call in advance to make an appointment!

She was great and was able to fix my hair as I tried to colour it myself using products from Sally’s and it turned orange (NEVER AGAIN). I will leave my hair to the professionals, lol. So I have been hearing mixed reviews about this establishment for quite some time, so I decided to just book an appointment with a hairstylist . My girl Was awesome, But you can tell she was miserable working there. Her boss (older lady) kept pulling her aside and what seemed like directing negative energy on her. Made a complaint about the outdoor shoes to Me , while the people getting their hair done could wear their shoes.I can most definitely tell that the girls who work their are miserable !!! Went to pay, overpriced , I did not mind my haircut , but for the price....Not worth it. Hope this helps.

I never fail to walk out of The Rock with soft nicely painted toes. The spa girls know how to give the best foot/leg massage and my shellac polish lasts me until my next pedicure (every 8 weeks I go in) definitely worth the 105$ compared to when I use to get the balancing pedicure for 75 with regular polish. Either way regardless of what polish you choose, the services are always 10/10. Would never go anywhere else!

For all the BLONDE ladies. It is so hard to find someone who knows how to color blonde hair where you leave the salon feeling 100% satisfied with the result. I went for my appointment and my stylist was booked with other clients as well and I was sent away. I was not offered any solutions that would make this inconvenience easier to deal with. Chantelle (sorry if misspelled) cut my hair and she listened to everything I said. Trying to grow out my hair and she cut just enough that it looked way healthier but didn't take more than what was needed. The blow out after was awesome. She did a complimentary head massage before the cut and it was amazing. I love love all the Aveda products. She was knowledgable without pushing me to buy anything I didn't want to. I notice a lot of comments about price but honestly anywhere you go a haircut is around the 50 mark. So if I pay an extra 10-20 dollars to have a relaxing experience with great products and the stylist listens to me it's totally worth it. Also I had a delicious complimentary tea while I waited. It was a great hour to myself and I came out relaxed and feeling so great. The receptionist is always professional and very polite and welcoming.
